Everything that you want already actually exists right here, right now. It just hasn't materialized yet. And because it hasn't materialized yet, we don't really give any attention to it or even think it's a reality. But what Neville said is there's two realities that exist simultaneously. One is this third dimensional manifested material reality, but the other is a fourth dimensional reality of what he would call potential. And so the moment you have a desire, that potential becomes activated. And I alluded to this before. Life starts to get the coincidences and synchronicities going, ideas become activated that are sitting in this fourth dimensional field of consciousness to start to find their way to you. Welcome to A Changed Mind. Hey, it's David. I'm out of town this week, but I wanted to share one of our most powerful episodes on how to use your imagination to create the life you truly desire. Hey, it's David. Welcome to a Changed Mind, a sanctuary for your spirit. A place where each and every episode I remind you of the certainty of the goodness of the future. I'm your friend, your host, your guy, David Bayer. In today's episode, I'm going to be sharing with you five critical distinctions that you must understand if you want to be able to use your mind to create powerfully in your life. If you are somebody who understands that thoughts are things and that you are actually creating your reality, you're going to love this episode. And I wish I understood these five principles sooner because it certainly would have taken a lot less effort, a lot less time, a lot less energy to create the things that I have today. But these are the five distinctions that I came to understand and to weave into a very simple framework that have allowed me to create a life I love a business. I love a $30 million transformational coaching company helping lots of people around the world and if you want to be able to create more with less eff, you're going to need to learn these five principles. And these five principles are really a distillation of a lot of the noise that's taught in the personal development space. If you've read the books you've gone to, the events you've done, the work, you're trying to transform your limiting beliefs, but you're still feeling a little bit lost and confused. You are going to love this episode. So I'm going to start with the first of the five principles, and that is the principle of desire. All of creation in your life begins with a desire. In all of our coaching conversations, we start with one question at the very beginning, which is, what do you want? What is it that you want to create? Is it more financial abundance? Is it your soulmate? Is it a really healthy body because you've been experiencing something like a chronic illness or condition? Is it ease and flow in your business? The right types of employees, more high paying clients, Better pay in your career? A job you love? What is it you want? Because, and this is a writer downer. Desire is the catalyst for all change. Desire is the catalyst for all change. All change that you want becomes catalyzed or starts being created based on a desire you have. The moment you have a desire, all of creation begins to respond to help you organize that desire and materialize it into your reality. The people, the circumstances, the situations all become activated. The unconscious minds of other people become influenced. That's why when you think about a resource you need, it magically shows up or you run into somebody who can help you. There's a vast architecture of intelligence that is responding to whatever it is that you want. In scripture, in Isaiah, it says something along the lines of, before you even ask, I have heard you. So the God of your own understanding, the universe, Jesus, Allah, whatever that is for you, responds to your desires. Desire is inherent within the human being in many ways. Just as fish were born to swim and birds were born to fly, you were born as a human being to desire and materialize that desire into your reality. Now, sometimes we get so caught up in our lives that we're focused on what we don't want rather than what we do. Hey Dave, listen, I've been really, really sick for a long time. I don't want to have this pain anymore. Hey, listen, I've been alone for a long, long time. I don't want to be alone anymore. Hey, I've been in a relationship, but we have a lot of friction. I don't want to argue any. I don't want the stress, the struggle, the financial insecurity. And because our nervous system, the human being operating system, is designed to help us survive if we're not aware of it, the mind will unconsciously focus all of its attention on the absence of what we want or the presence of what we don't want. But desire is really what's going to move you forward. So in order to support you in focusing on what you want, I want to introduce a new concept which is you don't know what you want unless you experience what you don't want. You don't know what you want unless and until you experience what you don't want. In other words, the moment that you experience or become aware of not having as much money as you would like, a desire is created for more financial prosperity and abundance. The moment you experience abuse in a relationship, you have a desire for a trusted, safe, secure environment with your significant partner. As you're experiencing not having as many friends or close relationships as you'd like, a desire is created to have even more extraordinary relationships with even more amazing people. I remember not that long ago when I was first getting into this, helping people at this business, I. I realized that there were some really amazing people out there, but I wasn't friends with them. I started going to events, I started seeing speakers. There seemed to be like really cool people, but I had a very small network. I had come out of my drug and alcohol recovery. I had attracted the woman of my dreams, my wife, Carol. But I didn't have a lot of friends. And as I began to understand that desire is the catalyst for all change, rather than continuing to say to myself, why don't I have more friends? How come other people have more friends? What's wrong with me? I focused on the desire I used noticing what my current life status was, that I didn't like to get clear on what I did want. And I made a decision that I was going to have even more extraordinary relationships with even more amazing people doing even more incredible things in the world. A couple of weeks later, I got a call from somebody I had met at one of those events that I was attending who said, hey, I really like the conversation we had. Would you come to my intimate mastermind that I'm organizing and present to my group? So I fly out to Colorado and I presented this group of 15 people, and there's a couple of other speakers there. And one of them is this amazing, impressive speaker. He was one of the best speakers I had ever seen in my life a guy by the name of Garrett Gunderson. He's also a man's man. And so as I'm sitting there listening to him as he opened up the event, when I wasn't worrying about, oh, my God, how am I going to follow this guy and get up on stage after him, I was falling in love with this guy. It was like a bromance, you know, I was like, man, it would be amazing to be friends with this guy. So he spoke, I spoke, a few other people spoke, and then we broke for lunch. And while I'm at the buffet putting some food on my plate, he comes up to me and he said, bro, that was one of the most amazing conversations I've ever heard in personal development and transformation. I would love to connect. And he gave me his phone number. A couple of weeks later, I called him, and he was on his way to a villa in Italy that he had rented for the summer with his family. And he said, listen, why don't you. And at the time, my girlfriend Carol, why don't you guys come out and spend a week with us in Tuscany? You know, we'll drink some wine, have some conversations about finance. That's what he was an expert in. I'd love to know more about what you believe around personal growth and transformation. Next thing I know, three weeks later, I'm sitting in a Tuscan villa with this guy, Garrett Gunderson, just having an amazing time, developing an extraordinary relationship with an incredible human being, doing even more amazing things in the world. And Garrett and I went on to develop an extraordinary friendship. I consider him a brother. He was the best man in my wedding. But it all came out of an awareness that I was experiencing something that I didn't like, because life is a buffet and you're not stuck with whatever the dish is that you're experiencing. And your problems are meant to catalyze your desires. And so when you begin to realize that you're living in a manifestation reality that has all kinds of things that all kinds of people like or don't like, and that you're going to run into some situations and circumstances or life experiences that you don't like, but that this is the catalyst for you becoming aware of what you want, and that desire is the catalyst for all change. Well, in a lot of ways, your problems stop becoming problems. They're just little road stops along the way of you fine tuning what it is that you want. So that's the first of the five distinctions. Desire and the fact that desire is the catalyst for all change. It's what gets the engine of your manifested reality going. Now, once you become aware of what you want by experiencing what you don't want, there's the second distinction, which I alluded to in my story about Garrett, which is a decision. You decide that what you want will become your reality. Even more so than that, one of the great teachers on transformation and fourth dimensional creation, or how the field of consciousness works, is a guy by the name of Neville Goddard. And Neville basically said that once you have a desire, that thing that you desire already exists right here, right now, in what he called the fourth dimension, or the realm of imagination, or the realm of energy.
So everything that you want already actually exists right here, right now. Life starts to get the coincidences and synchronicities going. Ideas become activated that are sitting in this fourth dimensional field of consciousness that start to find their way to you. And when you act on those ideas and you meet the coincidences and synchronicities, give it enough time, you'll produce the desired result. But what's really important is lining up with the desire. And that comes from a decision. A decision that you know that whatever you desire will manifest itself, or a decision that you know that what you want already exists right here, right now, in the fourth dimension. And it's just a matter of time before it manifests into your reality. These desires become manifest through a decision without you needing to know the how. See, when you decide, you're basically saying, I am committing to the fact that this will become my reality. But most people are hesitant to make a decision because they don't want to make a decision and be wrong. Or they don't want to make a decision and not have the result turn out. Or, and this is the most frequent hesitation around decision, most people think they need to know the how. How am I going to generate a million dollars in my business? How am I going to get a promotion in my career? How am I going to find my soulmate? How am I going to overcome this chronic physical condition that I'm experiencing? And the truth is, is that we don't need to know the how. In fact, the decision has to come first. When you decide that something will be, you start to imagine it, don't you? You start to live in anticipation. You get excited about actually realizing or materializing this desire into your reality. But when you think you need to know the how, you don't spend a lot of time in imagination. You spend a lot of time on the how. And this is where most people get it backwards. And this is a very, very important understanding to have. If you're somebody who wants to be able to effectively utilize your mind to create your reality. The decision comes first. The how comes second. I referenced this in other episodes. There was a study done. It was featured in Time magazine. It was conducted by Harvard, I believe it was back in 2009, where they brought in piano players to play the piano and they studied what parts of their brain lit up. Then they had the piano players just come back in and imagine playing the piano and the same parts of their brain lit up. In other words, your brain doesn't know the difference between imagination or reality. This is why great athletes imagine their success. They imagine the plays that they're going to run on the court or the field or in the ring. And as they do that, science now has established that they build fast twitch muscle fibers that actually support those movements and those activities when they are actually in the midst of competition. So your brain doesn't know the difference between imagination and reality. And when you have a desire and you're willing to decide that this will be for you, just as I decided that I was going to meet even more extraordinary people doing even more amazing things in the world, you begin to imagine it. And neuroscience tells us that as you imagine it, you actually start to change your brain. You start to build new neural networks in your brain as if you were actually doing the thing that Harvard brain study that I told you about. What they established was 80% of the neural activity, meaning the brain change in brain growth occurs just imagining versus actually doing the thing. 80%. And so what happens is you're imagining or allowing yourself to decide without needing to know the how is. You're building a memory of a future that has not happened yet. Now, I want you to get this, because this is an extraordinary capacity of the human being. You are able to actually build a memory in your brain of a future that hasn't happened yet. A future of financial prosperity, a future of business growth, a future of amazing relationships, a future of whatever you want, a future of more clarity on Your purpose. A future where you're more spiritually connected. A future where you have a child, it doesn't matter what it is. A future where you're more courageous, you start to build a memory as you're just imagining doing it. And what's so profound about this is that if you had actually accomplished the thing, in other words, if you were rich, if you were healthy, if you were loving, if you were spiritually connected, if you were the future version of yourself that you desire, and you and I sat down, wouldn't you be able to tell me how you did it? You would say, hey, David, these are the steps that I took. These are the people that I met. This is how I met my soulmate. This is how I got healthy. This is how I got rich. And so, as you are deciding without needing to know the how and giving yourself permission to imagine, you are actually becoming the person that you would need to be to produce the result in your real life. And as you are starting to become that person and have those memories, you tap into the thoughts, you tap into the ideas, and the plan begins to unfold through you. You know, my wife and I decided that we were going to have 330 people at our first event, the first powerful living experience live all the way back in 2017. We didn't know how, but by imagining what that would be like and by deciding without needing to know the how or having any resistance, all kinds of synchronicities and coincidences showed up. I was invited to speak on stages. I had an idea to start a small online marketing funnel. I met people through coincidences and synchronicities who became joint venture partners and promoted my event to their communities. And lo and behold, we had 330 people at the first powerful living experience live. We didn't know how we were going to do it, but we had a desire and we decided. Now that takes us to the third of these five really powerful distinctions, which is, okay, Dave, I'm experiencing things that I don't like in my life. That's helping me get clear on what I want. I now have the desire. I'm deciding that the desire will be for me and that I don't need to know the how. Now, what's the action plan? What do I do on a daily basis? Because I'm certainly not saying that you decide that you want something extraordinary in your life and the Amazon delivery person just drops it off on your front porch. Action is a very important part of the process. In fact, behavioral psychology tells us that what you believe produces your thoughts on a moment by moment basis. The thoughts you have determine the emotions that you experience, and the emotions you experience catalyze action, and your actions produce your results. What we're wanting to do is align your beliefs. Your belief that what you want already exists, your belief that it will materialize as long as you decide. We're trying to align your beliefs so that you can take the proper action. So this is not a law of attraction, the secret new age vegan woo woo idea. This is a really comprehensive understanding of psychology, neuroscience and quantum field theory and how intelligence functions and bringing it all together. And you are an integral part of the process. You will take action. But it's important to understand that if you're taking action from desperation or action from a place of scarcity, you can't produce the results. You want to take action from a place of knowing that as long as you continue to hold the decision, your desire must materialize. And so this third concept is what I would call discernment. Discernment. This is determining what you do. And many people have asked me, hey, how do I discern, for example, what they describe as what God's will for me is? Is it decision A or is it decision B? Or how do I know if I should pursue this business opportunity or that business opportunity? Should I leave my career or stay with my career? Should I leave this person or stay with this person? And my answer is, well, number one, you've got the desire. Number two, you've decided and now let's see what shows up. Life is going to leave you clues, and that's the discernment part. Life is going to create situations and circumstances that are going to be in alignment with one of the several paths that you're looking at. And when it does, you follow whatever that opportunity is and it'll continue to guide you down the path. Now, does that mean that when something shows up, it's automatically going to give you what you desire? No, it doesn't. A lot of times as I'm working with entrepreneurs, they have a desire for more high paying clients.
They've decided that they're good enough. They've decided that money is easy to make. They've decided they can help people. They've made all the decisions that are in alignment with the desire. And then life shows up and we want to take action with life. So sometimes a new prospect or client will show up but not end up working with them. Does that mean the system isn't working? No, it simply means that there's A calibration taking place. The decision is unfolding over time. It doesn't mean that every time that we decide for something, we're going to get it right off the bat. Life is providing a feedback mechanism for a couple of reasons. Number one, so that we can fine tune our desire. So see, sometimes when you're out on a date with somebody who doesn't turn out to be your soulmate, you get even clear on who you want your soulmate to be. And so life is playing a little game with us as it's trying to understand more specifically what we want. It's teasing out of us more specificity around our desires. The other thing to understand is that life works in mysterious and miraculous ways. So sometimes you have to meet the people or experience the circumstances or situations that seem like they're what you want and they end up not being what you want. In order to redirect the course of your life, in order for you to realign the timing of your life, in order for you to meet the other people in circumstances and situations. Right. Life is setting you up. I talk about this in my mind Hack program. Oftentimes we think that a circumstance or situation is a failure, but it's not. Failure isn't really a thing. There's just four blessings that take place as we're in the process of discernment and taking action. A lot of times it's a learning, it's a redirection, it's a reorganization. And so it's important for us to not only discern meaning when something shows up that is in alignment with what you desire to pursue it, but we also have to be patient along the way. So discernment is really about identifying how life is playing pitch and catch with you and pursuing those things that life presents to you and taking action around them. Now, some people say, but Dave, I don't know, it's hard for me to discern. I'm not seeing any opportunities show up. And usually what's happening there is that that individual is trying to figure out the how too early rather than just deciding. Or they're focused more on what they don't want rather than focusing on their desires, which again, is the catalyst for all change. So when you have a desire and you're focused on it and you've decided life will start to leave clues and you pursue those clues, that's the discernment. The fourth important piece in this framework, and I've already started to talk about it, is relaxing through the contrast. Things are not always going to Work out the first time. But oftentimes that's to help us build more character, develop more skills, meet different people, learn from the process. When I started this business and when I decided to start doing some online marketing, the first campaign that I launched didn't work, But I learned from that process and launched a second campaign. The second campaign did better. I generated more leads, a little bit more business, but it still didn't work. Still had a lot of people who weren't buying my digital courses or enrolling into my coaching programs. I went through that process about a dozen times of iteration, learning at each point in the process and getting better and better. And life is putting us through this training simulation again. Whether you're looking to improve your relationship, whether you're looking to improve your health, change your life situation, become more courageous or confident or more spiritual, life is putting you through an iterative process. So it's very important to relax through the contrast. A lot of people get into personal development, and they get very, very excited about the idea of Law of Attraction and how thoughts are things and we're creating our own reality. But they're not patient with the process. So they'll make a new decision. They'll take a little bit of action, but they'll give it about a week before they undecide. Oh, see, money's hard to make. O.C. it never works out for me. O.C. nobody wants to work with me. O.C. there's no good ones left out there, so we have to be patient with the process. From my perspective, giving something between 30 to 90 days and staying loyal to the decision is essential because life is organizing all the cooperative components, and you're going through a recalibration process. So it's very important to relax through the contrast, as what you want is in the process of unfolding. It's very similar to the process of childbirth, which, of course, I've never experienced, but was privileged to bear witness to when Carol gave birth to our son, Gabriel. It's a series of contractions and expansions, and it can be difficult. Extraordinary difficult. In fact, one of the most difficult processes I could possibly imagine. But at the end of the day, what comes from that process is the greatest gift you can ever experience, right? It is the materialization of the desire. It is the creative process. So just know that on the way to producing what it is that you want, there will be contractions, there will be expansions. And it's important to trust the processes you go through, knowing that if you stick with the process, you hold the desire, you hold the decision, you continue to take action through discernment, and you relax through the contrast that you will be able to create the desired result. The last thing is again, an overall faith, and this is the fifth principle, faith in how the system works, faith in the outcome. One of the things I love about the Bible is that it is a roadmap for having faith in the system. The stories in Scripture for me are articulations of the fact that the system is loyal to us. If we are loyal to the system, that there's a divine Father, that there is a Creator of heaven and earth, however you want to define it, that is working in infinitely intelligent ways to support us for our greatest growth, our greatest prosperity, and our greatest evolution. And that life is the experience of that relationship. And the opportunity is for us to come into a deeper trust with the system as it's functioning the way that it is. Which is why in this episode, I'm sharing with you some of the dynamics of the system so that you don't lose faith. If you could look at it from a personal relationship standpoint, as I mentioned in Isaiah, before they even speak, I have heard them, before they even asked, I have given them what they want. These are the types of things we see in Scripture. You can also look at it from a quantum field standpoint, or vibrational or law of attraction standpoint. The field is operating through everyone. The field is actually operating around all things. And the field hears your desire and is working to actually produce that desire into the world. So to maintain faith in the outcome of the system is essential, because really the only thing that can prevent us from achieving the outcome is our own personal doubt. In other episodes, and I encourage you to listen to them, I talk about what I consider to be the master equation, which is desire plus non resistance equals desired result. So when we have a desire and we are aligned with that desire 100% of the time, we will produce the desired result. It's law, it's mathematics. But many of us have a desire, and then we insert resistance into the equation, right? We think that we should be focusing on the problem. To solve the problem, we think that we need to know the how. Rather than deciding, we become confused and don't know what decision to make. Rather than having discernment, we experience the natural iterative process of what we want materializing itself into our reality, and we become frustrated with it and give up. And therefore, we doubt how the overall system functions and works. But life is always working for us for our greatest growth, our greatest prosperity and our greatest evolution. And when we can begin to live in that reality, we give ourselves permission to relax. We actually are able to downregulate our nervous system. We're not operating from fight or flight anymore, but from rest and relaxation and connection and presence and joy and anticipation. And perhaps that's the greatest gift of all of this. It's wonderful to be able to create what we want to create in the world, but it's even more wonderful to be able to enjoy the journey and the experience of life. So those are the five principles that I have for you today. A mini framework within all of the frameworks that I've been teaching you. If you love this episode, do me a favor.
