This is the first episode of The Elevated Edit podcast. I’m your host, Blaklee Ramsey, and I am so excited to be here with you today. You may be asking yourself, what exactly is this podcast about? What does The Elevated Edit entail? And most importantly, what am I going to get out of this podcast? To help you understand all of that, I’m going to give you a very brief background on my journey so far and how I got here.
I have always been a very goal-oriented person. When I was little, I wasn’t playing with baby dolls and pretending to be a loving mother figure. Not that there’s anything wrong with that; it was just never me. I was the kid turning my kitchen set into a restaurant, making my own money, and turning my Barbie house into a Barbie empire with corporate headquarters and businesses. I had a very specific mindset even at a young age. I loved setting goals, tasks, and seeing projects through to the end.
If you’re familiar with Robert Greene, one of my absolute favorite authors, he talks about how what we are drawn to as children can be a strong indicator of our passions and natural talents. Looking back, I was always meant to be a goal-oriented person.
Fast forward to my 20s: I graduated college and entered the workforce. All of my jobs, especially real estate, which I have loved passionately for the last five, almost six years, have been very sporadic. But the one thing I have always gravitated back to is personal development. I love to see what I’m capable of, overcome my fears, and push myself to do things I think are impossible.
Over the years, I’ve done in-person courses, online courses, read many books, and followed all the personal development influencers on TikTok. Even though I have a love and passion for personal development, it can be overwhelming because there is so much conflicting information out there. That’s the double-edged sword with technology and social media: you have access to information that wouldn’t have been available otherwise, but it can also be a curse because you’re flooded with new information all the time.
Another thing I noticed in the personal development space is that the messaging can be so aggressive and abrasive. I lived in that mental state for several years, always hustling and grinding. I wore it like a badge of honor. But it ended up affecting my mental health and overall well-being. I felt like I had to be on all the time, constantly performing and never saying no. It was exhausting, and I didn’t even realize it was an issue because I was so busy just trying to survive.
I had no boundaries, and I felt constant anxiety because I wasn’t slowing down to figure out what was drawing me. I decided to book a little cabin in the woods to gain clarity. I spent three or four days journaling and brainstorming about what I wanted my next year, five years, and ten years to look like. That trip was the first step in my crazy journey of 2024. It allowed me to form clarity around the kind of person I want to be and how I want to live every single day.
I started working on editing my every day with small changes that I could be really consistent with. This year has been about listening to my heart and taking small steps. It has been very emotional and lonely at times, but also one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.
This brings me to The Elevated Edit podcast. I discovered that personal development can be fun, feminine, and girly instead of aggressive and draining. That’s what I hope we can build here together: a place where we can study personal development and constant refinement in an elevated way that brings us joy, balance, abundance, and peace.
With this podcast, we’re going to discuss all things personal development, clarity, and growth. Originally, I intended this to be a solo podcast, but a piece of content I posted went semi-viral, and I received an overwhelming response from people wanting to be guests. Now, I’m excited to bring on amazing guests with unique perspectives from all over the world.
I’m not 100% sure where this podcast is going, but I’m excited to grow it organically and see where it leads. I’m also working on various products to accompany our journey together. The first product is an insanely valuable e-book/workbook that allows you to start taking immediate action towards your goals in an elevated way. It’s not long or overwhelming, but cheeky, fun, and impactful. You can purchase the e-book by going to the link in the bio of the podcast page. To celebrate the launch, the book is 50% off right now. One listener will also win a free copy by following The Elevated Edit podcast page and commenting on our most recent post with a topic you’d love to hear in a future episode.
