Speaker ALet's get into today's reading from Ephesians 4:1:6 reading from the Message to be mature in light of all this, here's what I want you to do while I'm locked up here, a prisoner for the Master.
Speaker AI want you to get out there and walk.
Speaker ABetter yet, run on the road God called you to travel.
Speaker AI don't want any of you sitting around on your hands.
Speaker AI don't want anyone strolling off down some path that goes nowhere.
Speaker AAnd mark that you do this with humility and discipline, not in fits and starts, but steadily pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.
Speaker AYou were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction.
Speaker ASo stay together both outwardly and inwardly.
Speaker AYou have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all.
Speaker AEverything you are and think and do is permeated with with oneness.
Speaker AWell, here we are, friends, talking about in this reflection a powerful message from Ephesians about unity, purpose and collective action that speaks directly to a time in our in our world which is really divided.
Speaker AHere's some points to ponder.
Speaker AActive Faith as Resistance the author, writing from prison, calls followers to run on their divine path.
Speaker AThis isn't passive spirituality.
Speaker AIt's active engagement with the world at a time when many use faith to withdraw from society's challenges.
Speaker AThis is a passage that calls us to move with purpose and urgency, and our spiritual journey isn't about escape but about transformative presence in the world.
Speaker AAnother point is about revolutionary humility.
Speaker AThe call for humility isn't about making ourselves small.
Speaker AIt's about creating space for all voices to be heard.
Speaker ATrue humility means recognizing our interconnectedness and dismantling hierarchies that elevate some while silencing others.
Speaker AIt's about building communities where power is shared rather than hoarded.
Speaker AA third point to ponder is about radical inclusivity.
Speaker AThe emphasis on oneness challenges tribalism and exclusion.
Speaker AThis unity isn't about enforced uniformity, but about celebrating our diversity while recognizing our fundamental interconnections.
Speaker AWhen the text speaks of God being, quote, present in all, it calls us to recognize divine presence in every person, challenging systems that dehumanize or marginalize any group of people.
Speaker AHere's your action step.
Speaker APractice bridge building discipline that is, Identify a group or community that somehow is not connected to your social circle or that your social circle tends to avoid or dismiss.
Speaker AAnd make a deliberate, intentional effort to learn from their perspective.
Speaker AMaybe attend one of their gatherings or read some of their writings from their writers, or listen to their voices, or listen to podcasts from their from their podcasters.
Speaker APractice the humility of listening and learning from those you've been taught to discount and document what this experience teaches you about unity and division in your context.
Speaker AWe're going to come back with a closing prayer here in just a minute, but I want you to know that we have a great resource for you.
Speaker AIt's called the ABC 123 Bible Study Method.

Speaker ALet's pray.
Speaker AO God, you are the source of unity and we live in a world that profits from our division.
Speaker ASo help us resist the forces that would separate us from our siblings, our brothers and sisters in humanity.
Speaker AGive us courage to run, not walk towards justice and reconciliation.
Speaker AWhen we're tempted to strengthen walls, remind us of your presence in all people.
Speaker AGrant us humility to learn from those we've ignored and and wisdom to build bridges where others see only chasms.
Speaker AFill us with your spirit of unity that doesn't erase differences, but celebrates it.
Speaker AIn the name of the One who broke down dividing walls, we pray.
