Whatever you want, if you desire it and you decide it, you will achieve it as long as you don't doubt it. And the tricky thing here is that things will not go the way you expected them to. Your plan will not be the great plan that you look back on and say, hey, this is how I did it. And if you stay attached to your plan the way you think it should go, then when things don't go as expected, you will doubt. You have to be flexible. You have to be loose. You have to be like, as Bruce Lee said, be like the bamboo tree, strong but flexible in the wind. Because this is a mental game and you have to know how the game works in order to stay faithful and to trust. But if you do, life will forge the path and you will get to your promised land. Welcome to A Changed Mind, a journey into the topics that matter to you most. From the neuroscience and spirituality of mindset and personal growth, to groundbreaking strategies for health, wealth and relationships, to open and honest conversations about pressing global issues such as the environment, censorship, corporate capture, and democracy. Each and every episode reminds us of the certainty of the goodness of the future and provides the teachings, tools and timeless wisdom inspiring you to create real, lasting change in your life and in the world. If you've been desiring a sanctuary for your spirit, a place to go to tune out the distraction, negativity and doom and gloom so that you can tap into the deep power, the vibrancy, and the potential you have inside, you're in the right place. Welcome to A Changed Mind. What if I told you there's an exact framework that can take you from stuck to unstoppable? One that combines ancient esoteric wisdom with cutting edge neuroscience that you can literally use your thoughts to change your reality, but not in the way most people think. I'm about to walk you through the exact six step process I use with my highest level clients to create any outcome they desire. And they this isn't positive thinking or manifestation fluff. This is the actual mechanics of how consciousness creates reality. By the end of this episode, you'll have a roadmap to transform literally any area of your life. Now if someone were to ask me how to get unstuck, change their life, achieve any goal, or create their own reality, I would walk them through a framework that's one of the biggest problems with personal growth today. It's a lot of motivation, a lot of inspiration, a lot of ideas, but that sound good when you say them fast, like change your beliefs or shift your perspective, but that's kind of like putting you on the football field and saying, hey, scoring is easy. Just pass the defense and run into the end zone. Yeah, thanks. But how the how is the framework? So what I'm about to give you isn't just theory. It's real world practical application. And it integrates both ancient wisdom and modern neuroscience into a step by step process for creating real change. And it is the difference between getting all hyped up and then hoping your life changes and actually crushing it in the game of life. So here's the framework. Step number one.
Desire is the catalyst for all change. All change starts by knowing what you want. Maybe you want to make more money or become a millionaire or do a million dollars this year in your business. Maybe you want to find a soulmate or heal the friction in your current relationship. And maybe you want to heal your body, get out of the chronic pain or the anxiety or the depression. Whatever it is, desire is the catalyst for all change. All change starts with knowing what you want. Now, there are two ways to know what you want. First, you know what you want by seeing it somewhere else in your reality. So you see someone with a lot of money, you say, I want that. You see someone in an amazing relationship, you say, I want that. You see someone who's really clear, living a life of purpose or really spiritually connected, you go, man, that would be cool. I'll take some of that. We see what other people have and that helps us get clear on what we want. And when you see someone who has what you want, you're not meant to go, oh man, look, they have it. Why don't I have it? What are they doing that I'm not doing? What's wrong with me? But this is what the mind will do. But no, the point is to go, ah, cool, if they have it, then I can have it. And I want that. Now. The second way we get clear on what we want is by experiencing something we don't want. This may sound paradoxical, but this is the gift of problems. See, problems aren't really problems. That's just a label we give something that shows up in our life that doesn't match with our expectation. They're actually gifts. One of my mentors said that problems come to pass. He said they always pass if you let them. And the gift they leave behind is a new desire. So you got a lot of aches or pains or some chronic health condition you've been struggling with that helps you get clear that you want to be healthy and vibrant. You've been alone for a few years or going out on dates with people who suck, that's helping you fine tune the vision you have for your ultimate soulmate. Not enough bank account at the end of the month. That's creating a desire for wealth and abundance. That's why you see so many stories of people who hit rock bottom and then they catapult back to create these amazing things in their life or their business. Because the problem they experienced was the catalyst for this ginormous desire and it slingshot of them forward. So problems aren't problems. They help you get clear on what it is that that you really want. Now the challenge is that most people continue to focus their attention on the problem thinking. If they can just think their way through the problem or wrestle the problem to the ground, then they can overcome the problem. Einstein once said, you can't solve a problem with the same level of energy or consciousness that created it. So you've got to let the problem go. And the wise person knows that the problem is temporary and that the problem is helping them to get clear on the desire. So when you notice a problem, be clear that the problem is the seed of a new desire. And then turn your attention to the desire and watch the problem transform into a solution. That takes us to step number two. Step two is the power of decision. You have to decide that you're going to create the thing that you want. So decide to be rich, decide to be healthy, decide to be peaceful. Decision is the second step. And where many people get tripped up here is they quickly move into wanting to know how to achieve the outcome or the thing that they want. How do I make more money? How do I deal with this situation? But actually the decision, this new decision, is the cause and the how is the effect. And so putting the how before the decision is like putting the cart before the horse. Thinking you need to know how before you can commit to an idea or to a decision is literally the number one cause of why so many dreams and opportunities for change end up in the graveyard and why people stay stuck. So a great metaphysical teacher named Raymond Charles Barker, he wrote an entire book on this called the Power of Decision. What he talked about was the moment that we decide something, all of life begins to coordinate to materialize the decision into our reality. So the moment you make a new decision, you start to have new thoughts and ideas. They're in alignment with that desire. So you decide you're going to start a business. You start having ideas around what type of business to launch. You decide that you're Going to get healthy. You start to be more present to nutrition and exercise. You start to literally perceive life differently. So there's a part of your brain called the reticular activating system. If you've ever bought a new car and you start noticing everybody else is driving your car, that's the reticular activating system. And the moment you make a new decision, you. You start noticing things you never noticed before. You stop paying attention to the problem and you start seeing the solutions right in front of you. Just by making a new decision, the new decision also activates coincidences and synchronicities. So this isn't woo woo. It's not new age. We've all experienced this. You start running into people, getting calls from people, Crazy shit starts to happen. Ads come through your social media feed, all in alignment with the new decision. Years ago, I had a job, my salary was fixed. I started understanding this framework. And I made a decision that by the end of the year, I didn't know how, but I was going to make an additional $60,000 of extra income. And over the course of nine months, through a series of ideas, I had unconscious decisions that I made. Strange coincidences. I became a part owner in a small business that got sold at the end of the year. And I got a check from the buyer for exactly $60,000 on December 28, three days before the end of the year. So what happens is that new decisions actually rewire your brain. The moment you make a new decision, you start to visualize that outcome. And as you imagine that outcome, your brain doesn't know the difference between imagination and reality. And so you start to record a future that hasn't happened yet. There was a study done in 2009 at Harvard. It was featured in Time magazine. They brought in piano players and they studied their brains while they played the piano. Then they had the pianists come back in and just imagine playing the piano, and the same parts of their brain lit up. So this study showed that your brain doesn't know the difference between imagination and reality. And when you make a decision and you allow yourself to imagine that future without needing to know how, you literally build a memory of a future that hasn't happened yet. You start to become the wealthy person, the healthy person, the successful person, simply by making a new decision. And that change in your brain is what starts to trigger all the new ideas. It changes your perception. You reprogram your subconscious mind. And because your brain and your nervous system are electromagnetic, you start to emit different frequency or vibration, which starts to line up all these coincidences and synchronicities to make that decision a reality. Now, more important, by the way, than our decisions to do things, which are helpful are our decisions about things. See, you can make a decision to make a million dollars, but if you've got limiting beliefs about money, like money is scarce or money's hard to make, it's going to make it difficult for you to make that million dollars, certainly to hold onto it for the long term. So you want to make sure that whatever you want, you decide that you're going to have it, but also take a look at what you believe about the situation and make sure you clear the Runway with your decisions about the situation. So if you want to find a soulmate but believe there's no good ones left out there, you have to shift that belief. You have to make a new decision. If you want to get rid of your anxiety, but you've decided there's something wrong with you, then you're gonna have a hard time getting rid of your anxiety. So this is essential. You have to make sure your decision about yourself, about money, about your business, about your health, about your life, that they line up with your decisions to do or have things. And I've got a ton of episodes on how to shift your beliefs on this podcast, so check em out when you've got a minute. So step two is to decide without needing to know the how. And not only decide to do things or to create things, but also look around it to make sure you don't have any limiting beliefs that are in contradiction to the outcome that you desire. In other words, your decisions about things. Step three is to live in non resistance. So there's a master equation for creating anything that you want. And it looks like this desire plus non resistance equals desired result. Once you've gotten clear on what you want, you've decided that you don't know how or you don't need to know the how and that you maybe don't know when, but you're going to have that dream home, or build that dream business, or create that dream life. Your job is to live in non resistance. So 100% of the time, if you can just not get in the way of your desire, you will produce the desired result. And again, this isn't woo. This is a fundamental understanding of behavioral psychology and the fact that your brain is a goal achieving machine. Because what you believe on a moment by moment basis, you'll have thoughts in alignment with that belief. When you have a thought, you experience that thought is an emotion which will always match the thought itself.
Your emotions determine what actions you do or do not take, and your actions produce your results. And your results, well, they just end up reinforcing the belief that they started with. So it's very important that you are non resistant to your desire that you don't have limiting beliefs, otherwise that's going to affect the result. Non resistance is the key that allows the life that you have to transform into life that you want. Now, I'm not saying you don't need to do something or take some action. This isn't some woo woo new age technique here where you just sit on the sofa waiting for the Amazon delivery person to drop a million dollars on your front porch. But the key, even before the action plan, is to maintain non resistance. So what is non resistance? Non resistance is refusing to entangle with your limiting beliefs. The fear, the doubt, the worry. While your situation is transforming. It's about maintaining faith and knowingness that if you just stay cool, most of the heavy lifting will be done for you. It's about acknowledging that the how will naturally unfold. And you'll do some things, you'll take some action, but mostly you'll follow the path that is unfolding while staying, as the great mystic Neville Goddard once said, staying loyal to the desire. So eight years ago, I decided I was going to do my first seminar and I wanted over 300 people at my first event. Everybody told me I was crazy. People had been doing seminars for years, said, look, that's a nice dream, maybe someday, but for your first event, shoot for something a little bit more modest. Maybe fifty, even a hundred people would be a great accomplishment because it takes time to build your brand, to build your reputation. But my wife and I, we understood this framework and we said, no. Nine months from now, we're going to have our first event and there will be over 300 people. We didn't know how, but we stayed loyal to the decision. Now, about a week before the event, we had around 270 people registered, which, by the way, was just crazy in and of itself. Out of nowhere, people would ask me to speak on their stages. I was invited on random podcasts and I started filling my event. I was doing the work, but life was carving the path. And a week before the event, I sat down next to some guy on an airplane and he overhears the conversation I'm having with someone on the phone talking about my event that's coming up in about a week. And when I get done, he says, hey, what are you doing this weekend. And it was a Friday, I was flying home to Orlando, Florida and I said, I'm getting ready for my event, it's next weekend. And he said, well, this weekend I want you to come to my event. I've got a thousand people at my event. I want you to get on the main stage and share with them your frameworks that you were just talking about on the phone. And so I show up at this guy's event two days later and another 60 people buy tickets to my event, putting us at 330 tickets. So your job is to stay loyal to the decision and to operate from non resistance. Whatever you want. If you desire it and you decide it, you will achieve it as long as you don't doubt it. And the tricky thing here is that things will not go the way you expected them to. Your plan will not be the great plan that you look back on and say, hey, this is how I did it. And if you stay attached to your plan the way you think it should go, then when things don't go as expected, you will doubt. You have to be flexible, you have to be loose, you have to be like, as Bruce Lee said, be like the bamboo tree, strong but flexible in the wind. Because this is a mental game and you have to know how the game works in order to stay faithful and to trust. But if you do, life will forge the path and you will get to your promised land. Step four, this is the action taking step. Take action, but as your future self. So remember, step one is desires, step two is a decision. Step three is non resistance where we clear the Runway of our doubts and limiting beliefs. And now step four, we move into action. But now we're taking action from a different state of being, from essentially a different identity. Aversion of your future self. I want you to think about this for a moment. You're now taking action as a person who has essentially already accomplished the outcome. So you're living the belief, you've already decided and held the image. You've changed your brain. You built a memory of a future that hasn't happened yet. You've become the person who has already accomplished the outcome. Rather than waiting for the outcome to justify yourself. You're actually being that person now and you're holding that person in place by staying loyal to the decision regardless of how things seem to be. You're patient, you're trusting. You know that you've placed your order with God or the universe and that the order is being fulfilled. The outcome is 100% guaranteed as a byproduct of being that person now, even before your wish is fulfilled. And I want you to think about this for a second. If you wanted to make a million dollars and every day you got up and acted like a millionaire, if you did that long enough, if you thought like a millionaire, you felt like a millionaire, you acted like a millionaire, wouldn't it be absolutely predictable that if you did that long enough, you'd become a millionaire? And I'm not talking about you'd drive a fancy car like a millionaire if you don't have the money or you'd spend money like a millionaire, it's not in your bank account. I'm talking about the attitude. If you woke up every day and thought and felt like a person who was broke, wouldn't it be predictable that given enough time, you'd be broken? So the success is a byproduct of being the person that creates the outcome, not creating the outcome. So you can justify being that person. For the last two years, I acted like the person who had a million listeners a month on his podcast. In the beginning, nobody was listening. I was recording two episodes a week, and I kept recording those episodes even though Nobody was listening. 500 listens per episode, but I kept recording it. Because if a million people a month were listening, that's what I'd do. I'd keep recording the show. I studied other channels, I studied attention, capturing, YouTube optimization, all the things that someone who had a million listeners a month would know. And so for 12 months, I was getting around 3,000 to 5,000 listens a month. And then all of a sudden, after one year, in one month, it jumped to a million listeners that month. Twelve months of almost nothing. While I maintain my desire, my decision, without resistance as my future self, confidence doesn't come from achieving the outcome you want. The outcome you want comes from being confident and acting as your future self. Not later, but now. Step five. Once you're actually achieving these things, you have to monitor your nervous system. Step five is speed. Because you'll get to a point where you'll achieve the change and accomplish the outcome. But if you're not careful, the resistance in the old beliefs, the old identity will reinsert itself. And so this is the fifth point, which is called speed. You want to monitor your speed. This is the number one technique that I teach my high performing clients. Your limiting beliefs, your mind, they're fast and so we can notice when we're sped up. It's where we start to feel stressed or overwhelmed. And one of the teachings of the Rosicrucians, a secret spiritual order from the 1600s. They talked about the mind being fast and cold and disconnected from spirit and driven by the ego. And they talked about how the heart was slow and warm and connected to God or spirit, which is the original source of information and inspiration. So we have to learn to find the balance. The name of the game when we're wanting to create something and maintain it, is to utilize the mind, but not be utilized by it. So when our limiting beliefs start to resurface, they, they'll speed up the mind so you'll feel stressed or anxious or overwhelmed. And this is what drives hustle and grind, culture and burnout with really successful people. They feel like they aren't doing enough. They feel like they aren't good enough. They feel like they aren't as far along as they should be. The mind speeds up and they lose connection with themselves, with that future self, and with their higher power. Now we teach that there are two states of being, Primal states of being and powerful states of being. And these map perfectly to the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. When you're entangled with a limiting belief, you move into a primal state. States that don't feel good, like stress, anxiety, doubt, fear and anger. This is a signal that the mind has created too much velocity and you have to downregulate in order to get back into a powerful state and to get back into non resistance. And this is hands down the most powerful practice that I've ever used to transform my limiting beliefs. It's not a meditation where you go sit in the corner and you close your eyes. It's a living meditation in the sense that it is a practice that you can engage with at any moment in time throughout the day. And it works like this. Step one is notice when you've moved into a primal state. Just notice that you don't feel good. This is very easy. You don't have to do anything. Just notice, oh, I've moved into some form of stress, anxiety, overwhelm, or fear. That's step one. Step two, observe the thinking that's taking place in that moment. So just notice what you're thinking. I'm thinking that I'm not enough. I'm thinking, this is never going to work out. I'm thinking that I'm going to do it wrong. That's step two. Notice the thinking. Step three, in that moment, acknowledge the fact that if that's what you're thinking and it doesn't feel good, it's not true. This is one of the biggest discoveries we made over the years. After 10,000 coaching conversations with clients, 100% of the time they were thinking something that didn't feel good, it wasn't true. It was a limiting belief. So acknowledge that whatever it is that you're thinking, if it doesn't feel good, it's not true. And step four is simply say to yourself, that's not true. I know that if it doesn't feel good, whatever I'm telling myself is not true. It's not in alignment with the path that I'm on. It's not God's will for me. It's not true. And that's why it doesn't feel good. It's a thought that's creating dissonant energy in my nervous system and my system is telling me that it's not true. It's not true that I'm not doing enough. It's not true that I need to be perfect or I'll make a mistake. It's not true that this situation that I don't like is never going to change. If it doesn't feel good, it's not true. Now you don't even need to know what's true. What's true will become obvious to you if you're no longer affirming the limiting belief in your head. If you can just let go of it for a few hours, a few days, the what's true will actually show up, the solution will show up and the path will unfold. So that's step number five. We gotta slow down now. I also have some practical tools for when I'm working and I've noticed I've sped up. Whenever I've got a short break, I'll sit down and do five to ten minutes of a really simple HRV breath where I do a five and a half second inhale through my nose. Five and a half second exhale through my nose down regulates my nervous system or I'll go catch a really hard workout that'll rebalance my nervous system or I'll get a really hot sauna or even just go outside for a couple of minutes in the sunshine and walk and ground in the grass. The goal is, is to reset my nervous system so that I can get back into doing from a proper place of being, from a powerful state and from a heart centered place. The reason why this matters is the mind will attempt to create velocity and that creates an inefficiency in what you're actually trying to accomplish. Step six is as you're doing this practice, realize it's progress, not perfection. So learning how to be in action while not collapsing into your old self or collapsing into feeling like you need to do it all or you're not good enough, this is the work to do. The practice is staying in action while you're holding the vision or holding the container, or holding the desire from a powerful state. And the reality is that nobody does this perfectly. There are times throughout every single day where I move into a primal state. But the good news is that every time we move back into a primal state, every time we become entangled with our limiting beliefs and feel stuck, we can actually go back to step one of this framework because we're now experiencing the contrast again of what we don't want. And this is helping us get even more clear on our desires. So this is the reset. Every time you get back to step one, you want to be able to take a look at what it is you're thinking and realize that the problem is not a problem. It's actually helping you get even clearer on your desire. And then you start the six step process again. And just like anything in the beginning, this can feel like a bit of work, like a new golf swing or working out new muscles for the first time in the gym. So this can be really helpful as a six step process and that's how it'll start. But know that over time, your nervous system becomes conditioned to operating in this way. Just like it becomes an unconscious competency, it becomes a more natural aspect of who you are and how you perform when you without you having to think about it. So I hope you enjoyed this episode.
