Unknown:

Hey, I'm Paige Killian, founder and CEO of everything

Unknown:

with style. I've built a business helping busy moms of

Unknown:

littles get organized in three simple steps. Like many of my

Unknown:

clients, I love being a mom and I also desire more. If you've

Unknown:

ever felt that stirring in your heart, that whisper or really

Unknown:

loud voice that keeps you up at night, then you are in the right

Unknown:

place. Because this is not a solo mission. Whether you're a

Unknown:

little curious or totally ready to be a mom, boss and use your

Unknown:

God given gifts to serve others step into your calling, turn

Unknown:

your passions into purpose, and still make it to the carpool

Unknown:

line on time, then girlfriend, it's time to pivot. I've got you

Unknown:

now let's get started.

Unknown:

We Hey, welcome back to another episode of the time to pivot

Unknown:

podcast. I have been so fired up for this upcoming episode for so

Unknown:

long. Now, if you have listened to any of the moms organization

Unknown:

motivation podcast episodes, previously, then you may know

Unknown:

one half of my next guest, Jenna Lee, rude and she is here today

Unknown:

with her husband, Jake. I absolutely adore these two

Unknown:

people, we're going to be talking about parenting

Unknown:

entrepreneurship ways that they have pivoted in their lives.

Unknown:

Both of those things included, and I am so excited to welcome

Unknown:

him to the show. First of all, Hello, my friends.

Unknown:

It's we're so happy to be here.

Unknown:

I'm so thrilled I'm so thrilled. I've been counting down the days

Unknown:

until we got to record this. And it's so funny because yesterday,

Unknown:

we're actually recording this quite in advance for when it's

Unknown:

going to air but yesterday was Mother's Day for us. And we were

Unknown:

both laughing about how there are so many opportunities for

Unknown:

people to be so kind and celebrate us with like, over the

Unknown:

top things for Mother's Day. And sometimes at the end of the day,

Unknown:

we just want to be in our sweats hanging out with our kids and

Unknown:

chilling out. And so that's what I love so much about the two of

Unknown:

you is that you can dress it to the nines and you can look

Unknown:

fabulous, and you can attend big important events, which we'll be

Unknown:

talking about a little bit. But we also really likes to keep it

Unknown:

super real, super casual. So I'm so thrilled that we're gonna get

Unknown:

the best of both worlds, I think when we talk today, so thank you

Unknown:

again so much for being here. Let me read a bio. That is what

Unknown:

some of the things that you guys have done together. Let's get

Unknown:

started that way. Is that okay? Perfect. Okay, amazing. So Jake

Unknown:

and Jenna rude our successful virtual business owners who work

Unknown:

from home with their two little girls in Charlotte, North

Unknown:

Carolina. And they're the founders of raised on plants the

Unknown:

app and community within. They met the first week of freshman

Unknown:

year at UCLA, and were married at 24 years old while working in

Unknown:

LA as professional performers. Soon after, they leveled up

Unknown:

their passion for health to their dream career by achieving

Unknown:

the elite position of National Marketing Director with a

Unknown:

multibillion dollar global health food company. In addition

Unknown:

to their raised on plants brand. They continue today via their

Unknown:

families health made simple platform, leading a global team

Unknown:

over 2000 influencers and teaching them to build and scale

Unknown:

successful virtual businesses rooted in their passions like

Unknown:

they have. With Jake's extensive knowledge in the tech world.

Unknown:

They support entrepreneurs and small businesses with technology

Unknown:

and marketing consulting, website and app design and more.

Unknown:

They have truly created a global movement surrounding the power

Unknown:

of plant and virtual recurring income with impact. You

Unknown:

absolutely have made impact you've impacted my life

Unknown:

personally, my family's lives as we actually take part in a lot

Unknown:

of that helped made simple and raised on plant stuff. And also,

Unknown:

I just want to do a quick shout out and say, Jenna, thank you

Unknown:

again, so much for writing the foreword to my book. I've got

Unknown:

you girlfriend.

Unknown:

Oh my gosh. Oh, gorgeous. That was those are my favorite

Unknown:

projects. Sure.

Unknown:

Yes. Oh, and it's flown by so fast. It's so crazy. And I love

Unknown:

the story that you tell of how Jake actually, like stuffed you

Unknown:

into a cloth if you had to go to the bathroom so bad, but you

Unknown:

knew you had this limited time to record it while the girls

Unknown:

were quiet in the other room that Jake was you know,

Unknown:

parenting over here. That's like, that's our lives, isn't

Unknown:

it?

Unknown:

Oh, yeah. This is an upgrade saving. We're having a date

Unknown:

basically right now. You know, our kids are ones that preschool

Unknown:

and one's downstairs with my mom's

Unknown:

air conditioning. block here and with blankets and pillows in a

Unknown:

closet very good soundproofing but not very comfortable.

Unknown:

Yeah, absolutely. Well listen, I won't keep you too. You long

Unknown:

because if this is the day day, you guys gotta get out and do

Unknown:

your thing. We know how important that is. We know. Yes,

Unknown:

we do. So obviously, I just read that big long spiel about all of

Unknown:

these incredible things that you guys have done. And I would love

Unknown:

to take it back to the beginning if we can, because that's one

Unknown:

thing, Jenna, I don't think that you and I ever really got to

Unknown:

talk about with the, the other podcasts that you were on the

Unknown:

mom pod, I feel like we should start from the very beginning,

Unknown:

when you guys met, because Jenna, I know you have always

Unknown:

been raised on plants, so to speak, has always been you know,

Unknown:

health, that has always been such an important part of your

Unknown:

life, starting with your parents very young age. Tell us a little

Unknown:

bit about meeting and how different you were and how you

Unknown:

came together and how that has changed over the years?

Unknown:

Of course, well, yes, I was predominantly plant based

Unknown:

growing up, my mom is very passionate about wellness and

Unknown:

education surrounding the power of whole food, nutrition,

Unknown:

really, and all aspects of of that. And so, you know, I went

Unknown:

off to college and I think like any, you know, any mom, you hope

Unknown:

that your that your children remember any, you know, anything

Unknown:

that you've taught them over over the course of their

Unknown:

childhood when they leave home. And I remember having this this

Unknown:

very clear moment where I was like, wow, my mom was right

Unknown:

about everything. Nutrition is and just looking around and

Unknown:

really seem like how few people had the resources and the

Unknown:

knowledge and the tools that they needed to have energy and

Unknown:

feel well and just be healthy enough to be a student or to be

Unknown:

an athlete or to be mom like whatever they were doing. And so

Unknown:

part of that was actually meeting this kid right here when

Unknown:

we were 18. And how many corndogs Did you see a

Unknown:

very, very healthy young boy with 15 corndogs a week in high

Unknown:

school. Do McDonald's. We didn't have Chick fil A out there. But

Unknown:

you know, it's all the good solid food groups,

Unknown:

protect his mom, she fed him great food. He just got he when

Unknown:

he drove he started to kind of rebel, I

Unknown:

could eat whatever I wanted. I played water polo. I was fit.

Unknown:

But I was dying on the inside health wise. I had a bunch of

Unknown:

health issues. I was on a bunch of meds. And I met her she said

Unknown:

if you're gonna date me, you're gonna change your diet. I mean,

Unknown:

eventually it got to that. It was not, it was you know, there

Unknown:

was a time when she said, Okay, there's a potential for future

Unknown:

offspring here. Say that, I read through the lines. A lot, like,

Unknown:

oh my gosh, the next generation, you're like, hold on, Jake, I

Unknown:

really like you, I see potential in you. I want to make sure

Unknown:

you're gonna be around for our future. That's

Unknown:

around. And the thing is, like, most people don't understand how

Unknown:

much food matters. And they don't they don't make that

Unknown:

connection to you.

Unknown:

I didn't know I didn't I remember my dog, I used to have

Unknown:

really, like cystic acne was so bad. And my doctor said, Well,

Unknown:

if you eat, you know, some chocolate bars, if you know what

Unknown:

you eat, and I just I was like, No way, man, this is just

Unknown:

hormones. And that I was dealt and I had no idea just how

Unknown:

critical that was, to my overall well being because they're all

Unknown:

like your skin, your hair, your nails, everything, it's a window

Unknown:

into your health. And that was the way that my body was showing

Unknown:

that there was an emergency and I just wasn't listening to it.

Unknown:

And

Unknown:

so you know, basically just shared the power of plants with

Unknown:

him and what I had been doing, which is a bunch of things, you

Unknown:

know, eating more plant based, and we teach that still to this

Unknown:

day, with Healthmate symbol and our new raised on plants app.

Unknown:

And also using other tools like dehydrated plant powders,

Unknown:

through the juice plus company through smoothies and gardening,

Unknown:

like all kinds of stuff we just kind of had his eyes are open to

Unknown:

this whole new world of, of a healthy lifestyle. And so that

Unknown:

was really my first experience of realizing the power of

Unknown:

sharing something that you're passionate about, and that

Unknown:

you're living out in your own life. And just putting yourself

Unknown:

out there to help another person and the impact that can make the

Unknown:

ripple that that can make and I know lots of you listening

Unknown:

probably, I don't know might be in a position where you do have

Unknown:

things that you love and that you're passionate about. And you

Unknown:

might have lost a little bit of that. Becoming a mom I know.

Unknown:

It's hard when there's so much going on. There's so much that

Unknown:

you can lose yourself in just the day to day busy and hustle

Unknown:

of mom or parent life. And and so, you know I always knew I was

Unknown:

passionate about that for my childhood and I just started to

Unknown:

share it first with Jake and then he started to share it with

Unknown:

his family and I helped a lot of my friends while we were in

Unknown:

school. And we did work as professional performers right

Unknown:

out of college at Purdue actual dancer and choreographer acting

Unknown:

and we were pursuing that. But at the same time, there was

Unknown:

this, this underlying foundation that we were living this

Unknown:

lifestyle, we knew we wanted to help more people do that. And we

Unknown:

were just exploring ways to kind of make that a part of our

Unknown:

career for the long term.

Unknown:

And to be able to work virtually was a big part of, of our main

Unknown:

goal, because we saw that if we can be in control of our time,

Unknown:

and choose when and where we want to work, we can have more

Unknown:

choices for the family in the future. That was really like the

Unknown:

long term overarching goal.

Unknown:

So sure, I mean, I had my you guys, I had my first job

Unknown:

straight out of college. And, you know, we were at UCLA, and

Unknown:

everyone was getting an incredible jobs out of college.

Unknown:

My I thought I had arrived, I was at the Soho House in LA

Unknown:

bougie marketing department. Um, as most of you probably have

Unknown:

realized, when you're an employee, it's not as shiny as

Unknown:

it looks sometimes from the outside. And once you're in it,

Unknown:

you know, it's hard and they were there. I didn't, I wasn't

Unknown:

doing the work that I thought I'd be doing. And I was

Unknown:

answering to a boss every day, and I was wearing really

Unknown:

annoying clothes that were uncomfortable and shoes that

Unknown:

hurt my feet. She looks

Unknown:

so good. Very attractive.

Unknown:

This is why you can't do No, I love it. I love when Jeff I love

Unknown:

when Jake jumps in because I feel like he still is the other

Unknown:

side.

Unknown:

The dark side.

Unknown:

We have like the angel and the devil on the shoulder like the

Unknown:

Jenna and Jake. On your shoulder. Oh my gosh, so good.

Unknown:

No, I do I do like that, Jake. Because again, that's very much

Unknown:

like on the outside of your leg. Hey, this girl is smokin hot,

Unknown:

which she still is, by the way, I feel like she's only gotten

Unknown:

hotter as being mom, I think he would probably agree, Jake,

Unknown:

you've seen her in every situation possible. And I think

Unknown:

she is probably just like, even more attracted to you made me

Unknown:

attracted to you. I meant to say attractive to you.

Unknown:

I will tell become when you become parents. I mean, I know

Unknown:

we're jumping all over the place here. Okay, when you become

Unknown:

parents, I mean, you see a lot together, you go through a lot

Unknown:

together. You know, no matter how long you've been together, I

Unknown:

think just that act of becoming a mom and the dad. And that. And

Unknown:

that really was a big pivot point for us from talking about

Unknown:

our, you know, our pivoting kind of moment. You know, of course,

Unknown:

when I was in that world where I was working in LA and finding my

Unknown:

way, you know, I realized the things Jake just said, I want

Unknown:

time freedom, I want to be able to make an impact with the work

Unknown:

I'm doing and feel like I'm contributing to the greater good

Unknown:

of the world and of the people that I love and felt like I

Unknown:

wasn't doing any of that I wasn't I didn't have any of that

Unknown:

in my life when I was first starting in the workforce. And

Unknown:

so knowing that I wanted to be a mom one day, knowing that I

Unknown:

wanted to still have a career, I'm still so grateful. And I

Unknown:

still truly believe that God put this on my heart, you know, very

Unknown:

young because of the grand plan that I just truly believe in.

Unknown:

But just we had the wherewithal as 22 year olds, 22 year olds,

Unknown:

to start building a foundation in virtual recurring income that

Unknown:

we could build while we were doing other things while we were

Unknown:

pursuing our dreams, while we were learning that employee life

Unknown:

wasn't as glamorous, as at what, as you as may not be. And just

Unknown:

kind of finding our way all that time we were building that

Unknown:

foundation. And now fast forward, we we have multiple

Unknown:

streams of income from all kinds of different virtual business

Unknown:

models. And maybe we can talk a little bit about that in a

Unknown:

second. But I'd love to Yes, at first, you know, it was truly

Unknown:

the opportunity through the juice plus Company, which was

Unknown:

our first kind of experience into entrepreneurship, we

Unknown:

actually were able to buy a virtual franchise a partnership

Unknown:

with the company. And because it was virtual, it was only $52 a

Unknown:

year. So it was a huge thing. And we didn't we couldn't have

Unknown:

done it if it was a huge investment upfront. We were

Unknown:

fresh out of college, you know, kids and and so we were able to

Unknown:

start sharing the incredible products that they have and the

Unknown:

education and the lifestyle that we were able to, you know, to

Unknown:

share it with people. And that became such a huge part of our

Unknown:

realization that wow, like we want to have something like this

Unknown:

just scaled way bigger as we continue to go through our life

Unknown:

so that when we become parents one day, we have more freedom to

Unknown:

do what we want to live where we want to live to be with our kids

Unknown:

when we want to be with them and to have those opportunities to

Unknown:

say yes to more things. Because I think that's what everyone

Unknown:

wants right to be able to say yes to more contribution and say

Unknown:

yes to more fun vacations and kids activities and just time

Unknown:

like you cannot get time back. So having the wherewithal to

Unknown:

know that we wanted to go there, but then figuring out the

Unknown:

vehicle along the way, I think has been our greatest adventure,

Unknown:

other than becoming parents.

Unknown:

Absolutely don't put that in there, of course, and just

Unknown:

learning learning all

Unknown:

of this as we go.

Unknown:

And the nine to five job can be a vehicle to get you from point

Unknown:

A to point B. But we always encourage people when you're not

Unknown:

doing that, and when the kids are down, try to put some energy

Unknown:

into something that can maybe get you out of that nine to five

Unknown:

job, maybe create some sort of extra source of income virtually

Unknown:

money while you're sleeping, that can a Plan B that can

Unknown:

possibly become a Plan A into the future, you never know what

Unknown:

the future will bring. And so we always like to diversify, and

Unknown:

just put extra hours in after the kids are down. I mean,

Unknown:

that's what we do now. But we started this before when we

Unknown:

didn't have the kids and we were able to just pour a bunch of

Unknown:

time into it. But I always like to encourage people that you

Unknown:

know, everyone has has a lizard, they'll have things that they

Unknown:

need to do and things they need to handle. But to really maybe

Unknown:

change what you do in the off hours. You know, maybe don't

Unknown:

watch one of those Netflix series and try to try to grow

Unknown:

something, try to pursue something that might creates

Unknown:

more income for you in the future.

Unknown:

Absolutely starting. So young you guys, I love that you're

Unknown:

using that as saying that that was like the vehicle to get to

Unknown:

where you wanted to go, because you did have that end vision for

Unknown:

what you wanted parenting to look like. And you had the gift

Unknown:

of meeting each other so young and talking about that. And I

Unknown:

know I met you guys before you had kids when you were still in

Unknown:

LA. And it made so much sense to me as well. And I was a working

Unknown:

mom. So if if you are a working mom, and you're listening to

Unknown:

this episode, and you're thinking, Well, I didn't meet

Unknown:

someone a long time ago, and we didn't know about that type of

Unknown:

an opportunity, whether it's because you are now thinking you

Unknown:

want to make this pivot out of corporate into the

Unknown:

entrepreneurial world or you want to scale something that you

Unknown:

already have. Or you feel like you've identified some of these

Unknown:

gifts that you do have that God's given you, and you're

Unknown:

trying to figure out how they fit in your life. Now, what was

Unknown:

so appealing to me when I met you guys at that point in my

Unknown:

life was that it was so simple. And I mean, even this morning,

Unknown:

as the kids and I are getting ready to go to school, nobody

Unknown:

forgets to take their supplements in the morning. Like

Unknown:

we definitely have our dehydrated fruits and

Unknown:

vegetables. And now it's so funny because my kids are both

Unknown:

old enough to be able to swallow the capsules. So we're finishing

Unknown:

off what's left of those little gummies. With that, the great

Unknown:

opportunity that you guys have with the what is it called the

Unknown:

something steady? Healthy starts perfect. Yes, yes, yes. So we

Unknown:

did that. And we got all those gummies for free. And that just

Unknown:

became simply became part of our lives. And it was the jumping

Unknown:

off point and point where we talk to the kids about having

Unknown:

healthier lifestyles and doing these little simple things along

Unknown:

the way. And I will tell you, my son is a corn dog lover. And so

Unknown:

last night dinner looks like a corndog, which we don't do all

Unknown:

the time, but we do the corndog sometimes, and then you a whole

Unknown:

other entire plate of fruits and veggies. And for me, it just

Unknown:

needed to be that simplicity, to bring more health into our

Unknown:

family just on a daily basis. Very easy to do. And I love that

Unknown:

that became a business for you guys, because it was something

Unknown:

that was important to you. It's clearly important to us as well.

Unknown:

It needs to fit in the way that it can fit in to our family and

Unknown:

this lifestyle. And that's the same in business as well. So

Unknown:

what would you say to the mom or even the dad or even a young

Unknown:

person who might be listening today? If they feel like right

Unknown:

now they've got something going on in their lives? They might be

Unknown:

okay with it, but they also might be desiring more. What do

Unknown:

you feel like with something easy? Because we want to keep it

Unknown:

simple. What do you feel like it's something easy to move the

Unknown:

ball forward? I really like what you're talking about of opting

Unknown:

out of maybe one Netflix series where you can easily go down

Unknown:

that rabbit hole. Listen, I was watching something last night.

Unknown:

It was fabulous. I stayed up too late. Okay, so you can do that.

Unknown:

But I was doing some of my work. And I was getting stuff prepped

Unknown:

for an episode that was going out today as well. So I'm like

Unknown:

on my computer multitasking. What do you feel like is an easy

Unknown:

thing that somebody could do if they say you know what I am

Unknown:

right now in a place in my life. Where I feel like it's okay, but

Unknown:

I want it to be better. Do you guys have a suggestion for just

Unknown:

like how do you mentally prepare yourself to start something new

Unknown:

that could lead to something better in the future?

Unknown:

Yeah. What do you think like you do anything, I mean, baby steps,

Unknown:

you know. And on our razor implants app, we, the whole app

Unknown:

is set up in baby step courses. So it's like little bytes of

Unknown:

information. Because I think if you're at a point in your life,

Unknown:

you know, that you're describing, I think you're

Unknown:

already pretty overwhelmed for the most part, but there's part

Unknown:

of you that still knows there's more that you can you can do

Unknown:

that you can provide or contribute or be a part of, but

Unknown:

that feels really scary to say yes to more things, because

Unknown:

everyone's busy, everyone has a lot going on. But you have to

Unknown:

listen to that inner voice. And I think, you know, I would make

Unknown:

a list. I'm a list girl.

Unknown:

I love a list. I do love a list,

Unknown:

I would say. And I would make a list of all of the things that

Unknown:

make you so happy, that make you just get really excited, you

Unknown:

know, and it might be going on a fun Italian dinner date with

Unknown:

your husband. So one of my favorite things might be, you

Unknown:

know, traveling might be more specific, like, I feel amazing

Unknown:

when I'm able to help out a friend or I absolutely love

Unknown:

volunteering in my child's preschool because it just lifts

Unknown:

me up and I meet new mom friends. So just like brainstorm

Unknown:

as many things as you can think about. And if there's not a

Unknown:

clear direction yet, that's okay. But I think you'll start

Unknown:

to see some parallels like, Oh Allah, I really love when I'm

Unknown:

around a lot of people and I'm making a difference like even

Unknown:

that general can get you started down the path of, okay, I want

Unknown:

to pursue something that's going to make me feel like this or

Unknown:

that I'm, you know, working with a lot of people Jake does really

Unknown:

well, not working with a lot of people. He loves his computer

Unknown:

and he loves like doing all the techie stuff and he

Unknown:

likes to shove me into the corner of the house in the dark,

Unknown:

just go work in the

Unknown:

I love to you're done Jean go off. Let me pillow you into a

Unknown:

closet J help people from there.

Unknown:

I would personally crumble if I was stuck in the dark behind a

Unknown:

computer. So I know that about myself and know that I have to

Unknown:

be out and about and interacting and connecting and events and

Unknown:

just talking to other women. You know about all of this, all the

Unknown:

things we've been sharing. So that

Unknown:

was one of China's biggest strengths, too is her being able

Unknown:

to pinpoint and help other people realize what makes them

Unknown:

happy. I see her do it every day, she'll just be talking with

Unknown:

people. And people just pour out for this girl for some reason I

Unknown:

don't understand. I mean, some people will be like, I haven't

Unknown:

even told my parents this or my husband, but I'm pregnant. Okay.

Unknown:

Like so many times, I've heard her tell situations that you

Unknown:

know that they've only been confidentially telling her

Unknown:

things. And she can just give good advice. I

Unknown:

don't know how. But I think it's because I asked the right

Unknown:

questions. And just listen, I think you can do that for

Unknown:

yourself. I mean, you can sit there and ask yourself, what do

Unknown:

I want the next year to look like what I want the next five

Unknown:

years to look like, and start to figure out the path. I mean, I

Unknown:

think some of you, for me, you know, our example, like, I knew

Unknown:

that whatever we were going to do, it was going to make a

Unknown:

difference. And it was going to keep us with our family as much

Unknown:

as possible. And those are core values to us. I mean, family

Unknown:

time, our faith contribution, just doing things that matter

Unknown:

that have a bigger impact. That's a huge driving point for

Unknown:

everything that we do. And so it wasn't hard when we kind of

Unknown:

looked at like, what is it going to take to get us to this point,

Unknown:

it wasn't hard to say, Oh, well, we can't watch as much TV or

Unknown:

we're going to, you know, not travel as much for this next

Unknown:

year. Because we're in we're in scaling mode, we're in building

Unknown:

mode, we're gonna build this and get it to a point where it does

Unknown:

give us more time and more things that we can say yes to.

Unknown:

So if you're in that position, there's tons of different ways

Unknown:

to make money now. But it has to be something that matters to

Unknown:

you. Because no matter what, no matter what it is, when or what

Unknown:

incredible opportunity is being presented to you, if you don't

Unknown:

care about it, it doesn't make a difference, you're not going to

Unknown:

be successful with it. And and so that is the first thing is to

Unknown:

get really clear on what you want to do, why it matters to

Unknown:

you? What's the impact that you want to make? And then start to

Unknown:

figure out how can I monetize this, but do it in a way that

Unknown:

feels really good and feels authentic to me, and who I am as

Unknown:

a person who we are as a family, who we want to impact to in our

Unknown:

lives, like who I want to work with and talk to. And we asked

Unknown:

ourselves all of those questions. And that's actually

Unknown:

how we created the app that we have now and the community

Unknown:

within it is we knew we wanted to serve mothers families. We

Unknown:

love the dads to that jump in on things but yeah, absolutely. We

Unknown:

know that we know that moms drive a lot of the household

Unknown:

just decision gins and the things that happen. And

Unknown:

thankfully, dads like this kid right here are so much more

Unknown:

involved now than they ever had been our generation is

Unknown:

overflowing with super dads that are so involved in the cooking

Unknown:

and the cleaning, supporting the kids and everything. So

Unknown:

because we have the accessibility of the internet

Unknown:

we're born into, this is the best time to be alive we can do

Unknown:

with it, we have instant answers to any question in the palm of

Unknown:

our hand. And we can create scalable systems that work for

Unknown:

us. I call my call the computer, my little monkey that just does

Unknown:

my random tasks when I needed to do it, literally, yes, being

Unknown:

able to have that little that little helper that does them in

Unknown:

the moment, the monotonous tasks during the sleep that make us

Unknown:

money that allow us to do all the things that we do.

Unknown:

Yeah, I love that my mom used to actually say you don't have to

Unknown:

know everything, you just have to know where to find it or who

Unknown:

to ask, you know, back in the day, there might be something

Unknown:

that you didn't know, and you would need to look it up in the

Unknown:

old Encyclopedia Britannica. And I love that you're saying that

Unknown:

low monkey of the computer is helping you do some of those

Unknown:

things that now are so quick, you can get those answers

Unknown:

quickly. And so if there is someone who's listening to this,

Unknown:

and thinking like I do want more, I do want to do something

Unknown:

else. And I love that you said make the list and then find the

Unknown:

parallels, because you don't have to have it all figured out

Unknown:

at once. If you've made the list and you're like, wow, kind of

Unknown:

all over the place, you might start to see those parallels.

Unknown:

You know, I think back on my, you know, being a theater major

Unknown:

days. And now I think the fact that I had all of that

Unknown:

background in speaking and communicating from stage, not

Unknown:

even necessarily having I mean, we love Jake, you're gonna note

Unknown:

we love that feedback from the audience, obviously, when you're

Unknown:

up there, but you may not always get it. So even when I couldn't

Unknown:

figure out what to do at first with my business when we went

Unknown:

into lockdown, because I couldn't physically go into

Unknown:

these people's homes to organize. And I decided to pivot

Unknown:

and start the podcast, all those theater days of even when I was

Unknown:

an elementary school teacher that's like being on stage.

Unknown:

They're the hardest audience ever. The you know, that kind of

Unknown:

stuff ends up coming back. So you start to see these parallels

Unknown:

about how could I use this actually, when I am thinking

Unknown:

about doing something else. And also, I love how you're talking

Unknown:

about service is such a huge part of that where you, you do

Unknown:

want to serve that community. And I think Jenna, you're so

Unknown:

great about receiving people's information, because you really

Unknown:

do hold space for people and you understand how to meet them

Unknown:

wherever they're at. So whether it's a young couple that's just

Unknown:

getting started. And they want to have some sort of piece of

Unknown:

this virtual business that they could go into, and they get to

Unknown:

start small, or maybe somebody who's already more well

Unknown:

established, and they're ready to hit the ground running and go

Unknown:

straight to the top. What do you feel like is some great advice

Unknown:

if maybe the partner isn't as supportive, or they don't see

Unknown:

their vision? Because you guys have been blessed with both

Unknown:

really being such team players. And I do love that you brought

Unknown:

the virtual piece into that as well, Jake, because there are

Unknown:

some things that can be quickly handled, and those resources are

Unknown:

a lot more available. But like, what happens if you have this

Unknown:

desire, and you want to do something, and you don't have a

Unknown:

supportive partner. And that doesn't necessarily have to be

Unknown:

somebody that you're married to? It could be like a parent, or it

Unknown:

could be like a roommate or, you know something? What do you say

Unknown:

to that? I mean, who wants to take that? When I know it's? I

Unknown:

get asked that a lot. So I thought I would ask you as well.

Unknown:

I mean, we see this a lot with how we support people on

Unknown:

changing their lifestyle and their the way they cook and the

Unknown:

kitchen and the way they feed their family. Because there's

Unknown:

always someone who is so not on board at first, and it takes

Unknown:

education and baby steps and a lot of grace to really

Unknown:

empathy for sure. have empathy for that other person. Sure.

Unknown:

And like validate their feelings too, because maybe they have

Unknown:

some hang up that you're not thinking about but just

Unknown:

validating where they're coming from. I love that empathy

Unknown:

component. That's great, Jay. A quick reminder, you can now get

Unknown:

my book in four different ways. Head over to Amazon and search

Unknown:

up I've got you girlfriend. The subtitle is why getting

Unknown:

organized and living this mom life is not a solo mission. You

Unknown:

can find it there on ereader. That's through the Kindle app,

Unknown:

paperback hardcover, and the audiobook. So if you're enjoying

Unknown:

this podcast, I have a feeling you may love the audio book.

Unknown:

Again. It's called I've got you girlfriend. Why getting

Unknown:

organized and living this mom life is not a solo mission.

Unknown:

Thanks so much for making it a best seller. And back to the

Unknown:

show.

Unknown:

That's huge. And I want to empower you and encourage you

Unknown:

that if you are in that position, you are doing this for

Unknown:

a reason. Like there's a reason that you're brave enough,

Unknown:

passionate enough to even bring it up to someone in your life

Unknown:

who you probably knew before they even weren't a big fan of

Unknown:

what you're doing that they probably weren't going to give

Unknown:

you a hard time. So good job for even getting to that point. And

Unknown:

now it's your time to, to stick with it. And you know, it was

Unknown:

our consistency, and our perseverance and our steadfast

Unknown:

obsession, sure, where we were going, like, not just a month

Unknown:

from now, like our 12345 year 10 year plan like, that is what got

Unknown:

us to the point where we could then scale even bigger. And so

Unknown:

looking back, you know, there were so many times that we could

Unknown:

have just quit because it was hard. I mean, our friends, like

Unknown:

still, to this day we get some of our friends from college will

Unknown:

be like, you know, are you guys still doing all of that? And

Unknown:

we're like, yeah, it's like, what did you expect? You thought

Unknown:

we weren't serious, you know, people, people were waiting for

Unknown:

us to just not do it anymore and quit or give up on our dreams or

Unknown:

not, you know, just go the normal route and just get a real

Unknown:

job, quote, unquote, they would say, and it's so funny to me

Unknown:

now, because so many people who have that mindset are now

Unknown:

pivoting. And they're the ones coming to us going, can you

Unknown:

please help us do what you guys are doing, because we want to

Unknown:

spend more time with our family, we want to be healthier, we want

Unknown:

to have a healthier lifestyle, mentally, physically,

Unknown:

spiritually, emotionally, like we want to have it all. And we

Unknown:

know we know, because we've seen it and we're living it that you

Unknown:

can't you can't have it all. If you have the perseverance, the

Unknown:

consistency, and then the vehicle, the vehicles, plurals

Unknown:

to get you there. And so whether it's a virtual franchise, like

Unknown:

we started out with, or affiliate income, which is a

Unknown:

place that we work in a lot right now, or you have a service

Unknown:

that you provide, and you're trying to scale that with, you

Unknown:

know, courses through an app like we have done as well, or

Unknown:

other things. And there's so many ways now that the world is

Unknown:

at our fingertips to be able to, to monetize your passion. And

Unknown:

truly make it income with impact so that everything feels aligned

Unknown:

with your values and with your purpose and with your future and

Unknown:

where you want to go. But you have to be the one to say yes,

Unknown:

and to hold strong when the people come into your life and

Unknown:

doubt and doubt you and a lot of the times I'm sad to say this,

Unknown:

but it's a reflection of how they feel about themselves. And

Unknown:

they will try to bring you down, they're going to try to bring

Unknown:

you down because they are so scared of saying yes to their

Unknown:

own dreams and following the path that you just started that

Unknown:

they will do everything they can to bring you down. It's like

Unknown:

that story. One of my good friends Lauren slick myself, or

Unknown:

Lauren Lahab. She always says that there's like lobsters. I

Unknown:

think it's hard, right? You want to you want to Yeah,

Unknown:

yeah, they have, you can put one last year in a bucket, and it

Unknown:

will have the opportunity to escape. But if you put two into

Unknown:

the bucket, you don't have to keep an eye on it. Because one

Unknown:

will keep the other one inside because they'll keep clawing at

Unknown:

each other trade. One wants to get out before the other so you

Unknown:

never have to worry that they hold each other down. So being

Unknown:

able to understand that have the empathy to realize, okay, you're

Unknown:

holding me back right now, I understand you just haven't come

Unknown:

to the same mindset that I am right here. I'm gonna I'm gonna

Unknown:

lead the way here. And, and a lot of the times it is the women

Unknown:

leading the way. And then once once you know that first

Unknown:

paycheck of like $1,000, or whatever they're doing reaches

Unknown:

some sort of like, you know, noticeable noticeable income

Unknown:

that makes the other person kind of take pause and go, whoa. And

Unknown:

then their business becomes our business. You know, yeah, oh,

Unknown:

maybe there's something to this, Aaron,

Unknown:

when they realize like, wow, like, this is something I could

Unknown:

see us doing together, or I'm at least at the very least going to

Unknown:

support you and cheer you on. Or you might have people that never

Unknown:

do that. And that's okay, too. You know, you just keep doing

Unknown:

you and keep following your dreams and baby steps will get

Unknown:

you there.

Unknown:

I love that I have some of the best advice by the way that is a

Unknown:

great visual, because sometimes it is actually better to be

Unknown:

brave and be bold and go it alone. And then people start to

Unknown:

see Wow, her passion or his passion is really driving them

Unknown:

and they're making things happen and maybe I didn't get it at

Unknown:

first. But it's so good to see that that's such an incredible

Unknown:

example of visually seeing how somebody could bring you down

Unknown:

even if that's not their intention. Sometimes you can

Unknown:

find yourself dimming your light because you don't want to step

Unknown:

on some Someone else's toes. Or maybe you're a big dreamer. And

Unknown:

they are so based in reality that they just could never

Unknown:

understand that. I really feel like I'm such a 5050 split, I

Unknown:

always say of a big dreamer, and then a total realist, I have to

Unknown:

merge those worlds. But I got some great advice from Jessica

Unknown:

Killingly, when I was writing my book so many years ago, because

Unknown:

when I talked to her, I was saying, you know, I feel like I

Unknown:

need to just be I need to, I need to have Jake pillow me into

Unknown:

a closet for two months, and just focus and like, crank out

Unknown:

this book. And she said, Paige, you are a parent, we both know,

Unknown:

that's never gonna happen. You can't go off to a hotel, or you

Unknown:

can't go Do you know, the Hemingway version where you're

Unknown:

like, in a cabin somewhere and you like write incredible works.

Unknown:

No, you're a parent, you need to be living this life. She said,

Unknown:

Go live your life, your book will be better for it. So I like

Unknown:

that idea. I've used that over the years, I pull from that. And

Unknown:

I think, go live my life. And you will find outside

Unknown:

inspiration. So maybe if that person that you're living in the

Unknown:

same house with maybe even sharing the same bed with, if

Unknown:

they're not on board, go out and live your life starting to

Unknown:

pursue these passions that you have, which can ultimately

Unknown:

become your purpose. And you, you really start to realize

Unknown:

there's more outside of what's right next to you that could

Unknown:

potentially be holding you about. And there's something

Unknown:

that happens, it catches fire, just like you were talking about

Unknown:

with your friends that saw it for all those years and thought,

Unknown:

okay, when are you gonna get a real job? And then suddenly,

Unknown:

they're like, actually, can you teach us your ways. So I really

Unknown:

love that idea. And I would love to just hit on what it's like. I

Unknown:

mean, entrepreneurship is hard if you can have a partner in it,

Unknown:

even if it's not the person you're married to, if you can

Unknown:

have that encouragement, that's what I love about what you guys

Unknown:

have done with raised on plant and the health made simple group

Unknown:

is that it is community, it's so important, because we're all

Unknown:

gonna be different steps, we're all going to be at different

Unknown:

levels. Not everyone is going to be up on stage with their Kino

Unknown:

talking about how this thing that they chose to do has

Unknown:

completely changed their lives. Some people are just on the

Unknown:

homefront, and they want a simplified recipe to get some

Unknown:

vegetables into their littles. So both of you, I would love to

Unknown:

hear what you guys think, is the way that you can take those big

Unknown:

important things that you're wanting to do. And still have

Unknown:

the parenting part. Have the kids be a part of all of that?

Unknown:

What would you say? What is it been like to bring your kid they

Unknown:

are so at the forefront of your business? I don't think your

Unknown:

business would be half as successful if you guys were not

Unknown:

making it a complete family affair with these cute little

Unknown:

girls, tell us what it's like to be an entrepreneur and parent

Unknown:

simultaneously.

Unknown:

Whoo, man.

Unknown:

It's a lot. Yeah,

Unknown:

it's a lot because we have to remember you we did this in our

Unknown:

20s Like when we got to sit at a little la coffee shops actually

Unknown:

read before to Pages book and you'll hear my story about that.

Unknown:

But

Unknown:

that was that was so fantastic. That word is so good. It paints

Unknown:

such a clear picture about what entrepreneur life is like before

Unknown:

and then after with littles. Yeah, so yeah, tell us about it.

Unknown:

And it does hit

Unknown:

you like a brick wall. I mean, when you become when you become

Unknown:

parents, and you, you know, all of a sudden, you truly have to

Unknown:

pivot every aspect of your life, you know, things have to change.

Unknown:

And you have to realize like, oh, well, I am, I have to

Unknown:

sacrifice a lot of the things that I used to just do, like

Unknown:

showering. You know, that sleeping, of course was one of

Unknown:

them. But it's almost this balance, we talked about a lot

Unknown:

like something has to go. So what is that thing, but it can't

Unknown:

be something that takes you down physically or mentally because

Unknown:

you have to be there for your family, you have to be there

Unknown:

with your health, with your mental health, you are the

Unknown:

leader of your family, you have to be there together in your

Unknown:

marriage and be a team. And so it's like, what are what's that

Unknown:

balance? And I don't I don't know, what would you say was

Unknown:

like the first thing that we had to kind of learn?

Unknown:

Well, just functioning with a few or less hours of sleep is

Unknown:

that was the largest thing that really, at first started to get

Unknown:

us to the point where we needed to be because, you know you're

Unknown:

exhausted your body needs sleep. But we also needed to do things

Unknown:

and we, the kids, they take priority and all things because

Unknown:

they can't survive without us right now. They need us to cook

Unknown:

the food for them. They need us to house that they need us so

Unknown:

that takes the priority and being able to schedule and plan

Unknown:

ahead, like we joke about Okay, so we need to If in or tomorrow

Unknown:

morning, we have this event. So let's start packing now. Start

Unknown:

getting ready now I'll just go to bed and my clothes. No, we

Unknown:

don't do that. But like you say,

Unknown:

that's a great I do that when we have to get on a plane with the

Unknown:

kids. I'm like, Who's sleeping in your outfit that you're going

Unknown:

to be wearing on the plane ride tomorrow? Yeah. But where you

Unknown:

can?

Unknown:

Yes, yes, planning ahead to the best of your abilities. Learning

Unknown:

to feed our family learning to feed our family shopping in

Unknown:

bulk, we always plan out what meals we're going to eat for the

Unknown:

week. Yeah. And then I went to Trader Joe's just before we came

Unknown:

to this podcast, and I have three or four meals already

Unknown:

ready to go that I know I'll be making X amount of time. And

Unknown:

then once the kids are down, use that opportunity to get all the

Unknown:

things done that you know you can't do when they're awake. So

Unknown:

just kind of scheduling the different items that you know

Unknown:

can get done during the kid time. And then the summer can

Unknown:

only get done afterwards.

Unknown:

I'm a huge fan of the morning routine. If you're at a point

Unknown:

right now, where you have at least you know the kids sleeping

Unknown:

somewhat consistently. I mean, do not put this on yourself. If

Unknown:

you're still in like postpartum sleep deprived craziness, you

Unknown:

just have to give yourself grace, you're in a special

Unknown:

season of life.

Unknown:

I knew you were gonna say grace, I was like, Yeah, yourself,

Unknown:

Grace, don't put pressure that is a whole other time of your

Unknown:

life.

Unknown:

Yes. And I and I struggled with that, because I was like,

Unknown:

Alright, let's go Let's kill him right back into it. But but now

Unknown:

you know what, once they're at a point where there's, there's

Unknown:

some some consistency in the sleep, finding an hour in the

Unknown:

morning before your kids wake up, and using that time to get

Unknown:

some things done, that you truly cannot do once they're awake.

Unknown:

And if you're an entrepreneur, that's going to be your power

Unknown:

hour, that's when you're, you know, doing the hard things like

Unknown:

calling the people that you're nervous to call or connecting

Unknown:

with the people are content creation, that actually requires

Unknown:

creative creativity and, and fresh brain right to actually

Unknown:

create what you need to make to get you through your next day of

Unknown:

of work. And then the other things can be in stolen moments.

Unknown:

And that's the beauty of what we do. If you're creating a

Unknown:

lifestyle for yourself, or you're working from home with

Unknown:

your family, you still have to find time to work. And that can

Unknown:

be when they're asleep nap times, you know, scheduling, you

Unknown:

know, we have a great gym that has an amazing kids program. So

Unknown:

we'll have like an hour we can take them, they can take a class

Unknown:

and we'll work and work out to like find that balance. But all

Unknown:

the other stuff can be kind of just as you do life. And it

Unknown:

should be and if you found something that you're truly

Unknown:

passionate about, it will feel like that, you know, I know I

Unknown:

can do every single aspect of our business for the most part.

Unknown:

While I do live while I do mom life, and it's meeting new moms

Unknown:

and connecting and cooking for my family. And that's the

Unknown:

content that we're sharing and, and answering questions. You

Unknown:

know, I'm doing that like, of course, while I'm like helping

Unknown:

with dinner, like rolling laundry, you know, we're

Unknown:

multitaskers. So there's moments to where you can do that. And

Unknown:

then the last thing I'll say is just letting yourself be present

Unknown:

when there's an opportunity to play with your kids, or instead

Unknown:

sit with them and talk to them about their day. And it's so

Unknown:

easy as a as a mompreneur to get lost in like, Okay, I'm doing

Unknown:

the bare minimum to like keep the house running, and doing you

Unknown:

know, my business. But then where's that special time? You

Unknown:

know, you can lose that so easily for yourself too, for

Unknown:

self care as well. So can you schedule those moments? Can you

Unknown:

look at the calendar and say, you know, going out with my

Unknown:

girls on this night for girls night on booking a special date

Unknown:

with my oldest, you know, on this day so we can have quality

Unknown:

time or someone said to me the other day like I just wish I had

Unknown:

I had said yes to my daughter when she asked me if I would

Unknown:

color with her more. And it just like I'm like, you know

Unknown:

emotionally I'm just talking about it. But it's like your

Unknown:

throat oh my gosh, total suckers. Total suckers.

Unknown:

But I do she cleans a lot. Like she said, I just was always so

Unknown:

obsessed with like, vacuuming and keeping the house clean. And

Unknown:

like, sometimes I would say, you know, Mommy's got to clean you

Unknown:

know, I'm busy. And she's like, I wish I would have just said

Unknown:

yes more and that just was like a huge, you know, moment for me

Unknown:

just being like, yeah, this this is fleeting. And right now it's

Unknown:

zero through flashbacks. And if you have older kids out there,

Unknown:

they're obviously new adventures to do with your young ones. But

Unknown:

that's a very unique times here provide because they need you so

Unknown:

much. You are the reason why they live that you feed that

Unknown:

they can't go and feed themselves. And and so Jenna

Unknown:

also mentioned one thing, we can continue the she said in the

Unknown:

mornings shall set up some shall do those calls in the morning.

Unknown:

So sometimes you can't do the call at five in the morning. But

Unknown:

that's when you need to use. Use the automation use the

Unknown:

technology there's wonderful time when you can wait cup five

Unknown:

in the morning and schedule some text messages to go out at noon,

Unknown:

When normal people are working, or like looking at their phones

Unknown:

and that morning.

Unknown:

That's, that's great advice. Yeah, that's really great advice

Unknown:

too, because even for me, I can say I am so not a morning

Unknown:

person. And what I have learned in my business is that instead

Unknown:

of having that morning Power Hour, I would love to have

Unknown:

sometimes that power hour between 10 and 11pm. And then I

Unknown:

will get that extra much needed sleep in the morning. And that

Unknown:

my my, there's something that happens when my house goes quiet

Unknown:

at night. And I put on the old, you know, noise cancelling

Unknown:

headphones, and sometimes the TV might be on in the background.

Unknown:

And then I find myself pausing it, and I keep the headphones on

Unknown:

and the quiet, all of a sudden, my brain just starts firing. So

Unknown:

you do whatever works best for you, my brain comes alive, I

Unknown:

wrote half maybe three fourths of my book between one and 4am.

Unknown:

Because I couldn't shut my brain off, it would just blow. And it

Unknown:

was because I lived my life during the day I was with my

Unknown:

family at the time that I was writing. And I was actually

Unknown:

teaching as well. And so I was getting so much inspiration from

Unknown:

being present in my life and not feeling like I need to get home

Unknown:

because I need to write this amount of words at this time, or

Unknown:

you know, it's whatever, even if you're not writing book, but

Unknown:

like you said, anything that you're wanting to put time and

Unknown:

effort and energy into find when that makes the most sense for

Unknown:

you based on your style. And when things start to flow for

Unknown:

you. And I really love the idea that you said about stolen

Unknown:

moments here and there. Because you can get really inspired by

Unknown:

your kids working with your kids, something can come up.

Unknown:

It's almost like seeing life through kids eyes, especially if

Unknown:

they're experiencing something new. If you're an entrepreneur,

Unknown:

and you happen to see your kids or other people's kids children

Unknown:

experiencing something new. I think that that ignites

Unknown:

something in you as an entrepreneur because you're

Unknown:

like, I live for those moments of the new creation. Do you do

Unknown:

you feel like that? Like you? You're like, whoa, yes, that's

Unknown:

so much fun. You want to like bottle, that sense of newness

Unknown:

and lightbulb moment newness? And you want to put that into

Unknown:

your business? At least I feel like that. Do you guys feel like

Unknown:

that?

Unknown:

Absolutely. Absolutely. It's that passion? It's the

Unknown:

inspiration? It's, it's your answer, if you're not even sure

Unknown:

what direction to go with your business, or where to even

Unknown:

start? And that's your answer. And I think, you know, Jake was

Unknown:

right on with what he was saying before. Once you have that, that

Unknown:

passion and that direction, and you have the inspiration in your

Unknown:

day to day, then it's a matter of implementation, like how do

Unknown:

we do this? Like how do we make this happen. And so you know,

Unknown:

using the technology using the systems, but also understanding

Unknown:

that you have lots of different vehicles to use, like we've

Unknown:

already mentioned in today's episode, to help you scale and

Unknown:

to take you know, whether it's a service or a product or an

Unknown:

experience that you're offering people to actually round it out

Unknown:

and make it all three things. And then to create a machine

Unknown:

that actually helps you to reach more people to service the

Unknown:

people that you are servicing. And then create that consistency

Unknown:

into it. So that's literally what we do now is we just help

Unknown:

people do that and so many different ways and figure it out

Unknown:

for their own unique circumstance or or passion

Unknown:

project or whatever they're trying to do small business

Unknown:

entrepreneur life and and then bringing it all together with

Unknown:

that impact of you know, what is the bigger picture look like?

Unknown:

How can we reach more people with with our message and with

Unknown:

helping others live a healthy lifestyle, you know, make money

Unknown:

that matters for their family, and then be able to say yes to

Unknown:

whatever they want to in life.

Unknown:

I love that. Thank you so much. I want the resources that you

Unknown:

guys have to be to have a moment here. You guys, I work with

Unknown:

Jenna and Jay in multiple ways. I love being one of those 2000

Unknown:

influencers. I absolutely love being a part of the raised on

Unknown:

plants community, the app is outstanding of so many different

Unknown:

ways to be able to work with them to get healthier, to

Unknown:

inspire your family and also to be a part of the business side

Unknown:

of it and bring in some extra income because I know that that

Unknown:

can be needed and very important. So if you want to

Unknown:

work with them, guys, tell us how we can find you all the

Unknown:

different avenues and I will absolutely put all of those in

Unknown:

shownotes so that everybody can check out your work. Thank you.

Unknown:

Thank you so much page. Well, we actually set up a little stuff

Unknown:

Stem through our, our text business number. So you can text

Unknown:
