Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Foreign.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: We are back here on a fresh new episode of Chase

Speaker:

and Birdies. Thanks for tuning in today, J.P.

Speaker:

buddy, how you feeling over there? Bundled up a

Speaker:

little bit in this winter wonderland or what?

Speaker:

>> RB: But it is a little nippley out, huh?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It's nipply. It's. It's treacherous out there.

Speaker:

Yeah, I mean, you know, it's, uh. It feels good,

Speaker:

though, because if this were March, you kind of

Speaker:

would be miserable. I mean, you'd be borderline

Speaker:

depressed. I mean, the fact that it's before

Speaker:

Christmas, you know, we're kind of coping with it,

Speaker:

but. Yeah, it's not good, dude. It's not good.

Speaker:

>> RB: I mean, we were in the Windy City last week, bud,

Speaker:

and it wasn't too bad.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It wasn't. I was. I liked it. I tell you what,

Speaker:

man. You and I had a nice, posh lunch, and we got

Speaker:

this, um. I still can't believe we ate that bowl

Speaker:

of. I don't know what it was. Three different

Speaker:

types of tuna with salmon. And, I mean, it's all

Speaker:

raw.

Speaker:

>> RB: It sounded like.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: And, um, I'm.

Speaker:

>> RB: It sounded better than it was.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: And they didn't even like. It wasn't like a poke

Speaker:

bowl. It was just like.

Speaker:

>> RB: It was nothing near that. That's what I thought.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: And you're just eating this raw fish?

Speaker:

>> RB: I mean, I think at 9 o' clock that night, you

Speaker:

said, I feel like they're still swimming in my

Speaker:

stomach.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: They were absolutely swimming in my stomach,

Speaker:

buddy. But, uh, yeah. Yeah, that was fun, man. We,

Speaker:

uh, got to spend a little. I fell in love in

Speaker:

Chicago, dude. I fell in love with the antidote,

Speaker:

the Betonardi antidote.

Speaker:

>> RB: Did you get it?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: I did not get it yet.

Speaker:

>> RB: Has he texted you yet?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: No, I have not talked to Ryan yet about it, but

Speaker:

there's probably $700 putter.

Speaker:

>> RB: They'll find somebody else that wants it right

Speaker:

then and there.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Well, you know, it's your fault. You take me back

Speaker:

to the bougie room at Bettinardi through the door

Speaker:

that doesn't even look like a door. And then

Speaker:

you're into this world of just like, dude, it's

Speaker:

sick.

Speaker:

>> RB: It's sick, dude. Was it the hard face or the soft

Speaker:

face?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It was hard.

Speaker:

>> RB: All right, so it got a little bounce on it, and it

Speaker:

came off a, uh, putter face. How you wanted it.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It came out great, you know, Isn't.

Speaker:

>> RB: That incredible, though, that what they can do?

Speaker:

Like, okay, we got this little room. We walk you

Speaker:

into this room, and there's, uh, rack full of

Speaker:

putters, $1,800 and up. But if you don't like

Speaker:

that, let me take you into the next room.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> RB: Where you can design everything. What grip, what

Speaker:

shaft you want, A welded neck, what kind of neck

Speaker:

you want, what kind of face do you want, what kind

Speaker:

of painting do you want, what kind of logos do you

Speaker:

want? And you do it all in that one little room.

Speaker:

And it is, it is really cool.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It's so cool.

Speaker:

>> RB: It's like designing a suit, bud. It is.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: And I, and I love doing that. And the putters, you

Speaker:

need to have the good putter, though. There's no

Speaker:

doubt about it. Did you see this past weekend at

Speaker:

the Q school down in Florida, what happened to the

Speaker:

one cat? I can't. What's his last name? Cole Kohli

Speaker:

or something like that. I mean, he was in, he was

Speaker:

in the mix, dude. He was like about to get, uh.

Speaker:

>> RB: He played golf, the University of Virginia. And I

Speaker:

also saw, um, uh, there was another big name up

Speaker:

there that he did not play well in the last day.

Speaker:

He missed his tour card, Spencer Levine.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Oh, yes.

Speaker:

>> RB: Spencer Levine missed it. And he did not have a

Speaker:

great finishing round. And, um, he's on the Korn

Speaker:

Ferry Tour, boys.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah, which he had. There's the other guy, last

Speaker:

name Toasty, which he's like, apparently has a

Speaker:

terrible temperament, which is kind of awesome.

Speaker:

Like he just goes off, snaps a club. But anyways,

Speaker:

this guy just freaking was in the, in the woods

Speaker:

and he just kind of moved his ball by accident and

Speaker:

got stroked. And then what happened? Yeah, cost

Speaker:

him. And then the next hole, he blew his tee shot

Speaker:

way right into the water. Double done. He was

Speaker:

done.

Speaker:

>> RB: Well, do you remember? He might be too young to

Speaker:

remember this, but, um. Do you remember in tour

Speaker:

school, like 15, 16 years ago, probably a guy had

Speaker:

a like three foot putt and it hit in the back of

Speaker:

the hole and bounced out and I customist PGA Tour

Speaker:

card. It hit the back of like the little brim on

Speaker:

the cup.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> RB: And it bounced back up.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Oh, you, uh, think about that. You grind your

Speaker:

whole life again.

Speaker:

>> RB: If that ever happened to me.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: No, you probably wouldn't. In fact, you just asked

Speaker:

the question the other day. If I've anyone's ever

Speaker:

seen you mad m on the golf course. If you've

Speaker:

actually lost your temperament and you really

Speaker:

haven't, you really don't. I mean, every now and

Speaker:

then you don't pay attention to what's going on.

Speaker:

>> RB: But yeah, that's different though. That's adhd.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: I saw Jason Day playing in the, um, Grand Thornton

Speaker:

invitation, which our boy IP was down. He was

Speaker:

sending videos from the concert. He was in a mix,

Speaker:

but Jason Day was playing with, uh, I forget the

Speaker:

chick's name, but he had, he had a two and a half.

Speaker:

You talk about small short putts. He had a two and

Speaker:

a half footer, dude, it was like that. And he went

Speaker:

up to putt it and he freaking pulled that. Yeah.

Speaker:

Or pushed the hell out of it, Whipped it around

Speaker:

the cup.

Speaker:

>> RB: I love it. That's good. It's good for the soul.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Tell you what, man, we had, we had a good time.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah, I was gonna say, I'll tell you what's good

Speaker:

for the soul is what we did last week.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Gotta hit the Sims.

Speaker:

>> RB: Well, we got to lunch, texted our boy, boy, Taylor

Speaker:

Kenny, who's today's guest, and said, uh, you

Speaker:

know, looking forward to seeing you. And he said,

Speaker:

you got to hit the Sims. Well, in my mind I'm

Speaker:

like, oh God, he's at a simulator and we're never

Speaker:

going to find this guy in Chicago. So we show up

Speaker:

to be Nardi, like 2:15 and he's grinding away in

Speaker:

the simulator at Betnardi. No, other than Taylor

Speaker:

Kenny, he was in there. And you know, dude, we, we

Speaker:

actually went to a simulator.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: We did go to a sim.

Speaker:

>> RB: So, you know, we had a phenomenal interview with

Speaker:

Taylor, which you guys are going to hear here

Speaker:

shortly. But then we went out to dinner and the

Speaker:

boot that, that you guys have been seeing, the

Speaker:

Boot is kind of has its own life. And it made it

Speaker:

to Chicago. Um, took it to dinner, surprised, uh,

Speaker:

a couple of the New York Rangers with the Boot,

Speaker:

um, per their request. And, um, we had a great

Speaker:

dinner. And at Maple and Ash, we, we left and the

Speaker:

boot was on its way, right to its new home, we

Speaker:

thought. We got a text the next day from Mr. Vince

Speaker:

Trocheck, and he left the boot in a 10 minute Uber

Speaker:

ride to his hotel, which then he said he was

Speaker:

panicking. He called the guy, the driver, numerous

Speaker:

times, never answered, called Uber. They wouldn't

Speaker:

do anything to help him. Guy finally gets a hold

Speaker:

of him, tells him, I'll give you a good deal.

Speaker:

Troach ends up paying money to get the boot back,

Speaker:

but the guy wanted to deliver it at night. Problem

Speaker:

is, at night is the hockey game. So long story

Speaker:

short, the boot is back. But man, if this boot

Speaker:

could talk, it's probably thinking, what the hell?

Speaker:

Why'd you just leave me in an Uber?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: That right, like you said, the boot has a life of

Speaker:

its own, man. And it was just. It was just rolling

Speaker:

around Chicago. And, um. How many other people got

Speaker:

picked up in that Uber that saw the boot?

Speaker:

>> RB: Why is this cowboy boot in here?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: The boot made all kind of friends that night. It

Speaker:

was having the best night of its life. It's like,

Speaker:

I'm out of the dungeon. I'm in the mix, riding

Speaker:

around. I can't believe any did that. But.

Speaker:

>> RB: So we went to, um. After dinner. After we had

Speaker:

dinner, we get in TK's car, and, you know,

Speaker:

obviously, Chicago is a massive spot. I can't tell

Speaker:

you how many restaurants are probably there.

Speaker:

10,000 restaurants. Gotta be okay. He's driving,

Speaker:

he's weaving in between. And I'm thinking to

Speaker:

myself, does TK know where we're even going? And

Speaker:

he shows up to this restaurant, and I said, I've

Speaker:

been here. He said, this is my best friend. I

Speaker:

said, well, I've ate here. I sat at that table

Speaker:

right there before a Chicago Bulls game last year

Speaker:

with Brandon. I said, yeah, they got a great

Speaker:

sausage and pepper dish. He said, you did eat

Speaker:

here. So naturally, we went in, we got some wine,

Speaker:

we got some cake. And where does he want to take

Speaker:

us? To the simulators. So we show up to the

Speaker:

simulators with two bottles of wine, two pieces of

Speaker:

cake. And I said, tk, how are we gonna open these

Speaker:

bottles of wine, but we don't have a key lock, A

Speaker:

one key. Well, tk, uh, in TK fashion, Never doubt

Speaker:

the man. Never doubt a firefighter.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Resourceful.

Speaker:

>> RB: He got the cork pushed into the bottle, and I was

Speaker:

drinking out of that.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Well, in hindsight, when we walked into that

Speaker:

Italian restaurant, I saw they had Peroni, like,

Speaker:

in bottles. Why did we not just get four bottles

Speaker:

of Peroni and take it to the sim? I mean, you, um,

Speaker:

had this bottle of wine. I wasn't even drinking

Speaker:

any of it because I wasn't about to drink after

Speaker:

you've been sucking down the bottle.

Speaker:

>> RB: And I'll tell you, that simulator spot was a lot

Speaker:

of fun, too. It was. And I had TK right where I

Speaker:

want him. Naturally. Always got a gamble with him

Speaker:

a little bit. He, like, sits. Get. He gets to a

Speaker:

certain point, right? And he's like, all right,

Speaker:

you ready? You want 20 bucks? Number seven.

Speaker:

Piner's number two. I said, sure. So win the hole

Speaker:

with a birdie, number eight. Win the hole with an

Speaker:

eagle par five. He was hacking around the woods.

Speaker:

So now I'm up 40 bucks. Go to nine, par three on

Speaker:

piners, number two. Naturally, TK says double or

Speaker:

nothing, and I knew it was gonna happen. He

Speaker:

finally won the hole, and then guess what? No

Speaker:

money's exchanged.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Wow. You know, that's. That's par for the course.

Speaker:

Because I feel like you're always in these betting

Speaker:

matches with him, and there's always the press at

Speaker:

the end. It's just. I mean, you shot three under.

Speaker:

Uh, for what it's worth, no putting.

Speaker:

>> RB: Good. I'll tell you what, though. Those Miura

Speaker:

irons he has.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Nice butter. I'll tell you what's not butter

Speaker:

that out to end on my swing.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: In the sim. I mean, it's like. It's like eight out

Speaker:

the end. Yeah. He was in the trees a little bit.

Speaker:

That one scene on that course. We ended up playing

Speaker:

nine holes.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It was.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It was awesome.

Speaker:

>> RB: I think he came out of the simulator with a tree

Speaker:

branch stuck out of his pocket. But nonetheless,

Speaker:

dude, he came out. It didn't matter what he shot.

Speaker:

Didn't matter what I shot. We. No money was

Speaker:

exchanged.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: I could play golf with you two. TK could be on any

Speaker:

one of our golf trips. I would play golf with him

Speaker:

every day because he loves the game.

Speaker:

>> RB: He just loves.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: He just loves the game. And I can get down with

Speaker:

that. I can absolutely love that golf.

Speaker:

>> RB: And he's a good time. He's chill, just a great

Speaker:

human being. And, ah, we're lucky that our paths

Speaker:

have crossed with him. And I don't know if you

Speaker:

guys have seen, but ever since we. We put in a

Speaker:

video reel out of him, I TK I didn't know that

Speaker:

there were this many, like, spoof fan clubs of

Speaker:

yours. Insane.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Oh, my God.

Speaker:

>> RB: Uh, video. I don't know how they got the video of

Speaker:

Ryan in the rain hitting golf balls.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Uh, that's what I mean.

Speaker:

>> RB: They stole it from your Instagram page, buddy.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: People, they're coming on to the Instagram page

Speaker:

and taking videos and repost them on these club

Speaker:

sites, these fan sites. It's. It's absolutely

Speaker:

insane. The hawkers out there.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Honestly.

Speaker:

>> RB: Well, I guess we should give them what they want,

Speaker:

though.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. I think it's about damn time we do, man.

Speaker:

It's. It's always better in person. It was always

Speaker:

better in person.

Speaker:

>> RB: So this is, uh. This is well worth the wait, I

Speaker:

think.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: I agree. So let's turn it on over here to the real

Speaker:

reason why. You're listening to today's episode of

Speaker:

Chasing Birdies with Taylor Kinney here, and you

Speaker:

guys enjoy this one.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: All right?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: We're here on Chasing Birdies with the guests.

Speaker:

We've Been chasing for well over a year, and we're

Speaker:

here in Oakbrook, Illinois, at Betnardi Studios,

Speaker:

which is incredible. But our guest today, Taylor

Speaker:

Kenney, joined us here on Chasing Birdies. And,

Speaker:

man, we are so appreciative of you carving out

Speaker:

some of your time. We know you're busy, but, you

Speaker:

know, our friendship, man, it runs deep, and we

Speaker:

just want to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: We.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: We want this.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah, I think it's been in the works for a little

Speaker:

bit. Um, uh, backstory. I met Ryan here. He hosted

Speaker:

me on a road trip. I was driving from Philly to

Speaker:

Chicago, I think, and stopped by, playing

Speaker:

different courses and end up at Pikewood. I was

Speaker:

down at Pete Dye, I think.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: That's right. You were.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Uh, gracious host, uh, because I know it's

Speaker:

a, uh, stab in the dark, but I got there not

Speaker:

knowing too much, and that was one of the cooler

Speaker:

experiences I've had golfing.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: So.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Thank you.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: And I remember. Well, you're welcome. And you're

Speaker:

welcome back anytime. But I had a great time. But

Speaker:

I remember vividly we made the turn, and we were

Speaker:

in no rush because it was just the two of us.

Speaker:

>> RB: I can't imagine either one of you.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Were in a rush. TK Sat down, and they asked, what

Speaker:

do you. You know, if you want something at the

Speaker:

turn? And he said, I'll take a dog. So we sat

Speaker:

there, we had hot dogs, sat at the bar, yucked it

Speaker:

up for a little bit, and then we went on our way.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah, a fabulous.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: This guy is the chillest dude. Yeah, it's a great

Speaker:

walk.

Speaker:

>> RB: And you have ties to Morgantown. Uh, West

Speaker:

Virginia.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Almost an alum. I went. Graduated in 2000.

Speaker:

Uh, went to WVU till 2002. So. Till my junior

Speaker:

year. So I. I think I. Uh. My major was maybe

Speaker:

business or something generic. Uh, and I knew I

Speaker:

wanted to do something on my own. I didn't want to

Speaker:

work for anybody. I didn't want to look at a

Speaker:

clock. And I took theater as an elective my

Speaker:

sophomore year, and I remember going up to the

Speaker:

professor, and I was like, hey, let me catch your

Speaker:

ear. Can we grab a bite, a cup of coffee or

Speaker:

something outside of class? And I'm just, like,

Speaker:

crazy interested. And he said no. He said no.

Speaker:

Yeah. And I just remember reading and doing, uh,

Speaker:

my own thing, and then. Well, I knew I didn't want

Speaker:

to. I don't know. I didn't want to languish, I

Speaker:

guess, and just go through the motions of school.

Speaker:

I dropped out, and then I saved up Money. I moved

Speaker:

to Hawaii for a year, uh, and bummed it around

Speaker:

there, and that was like my own education. Uh, and

Speaker:

then went back to Pennsylvania, saved a couple

Speaker:

bucks and moved to la and then started hitting the

Speaker:

bricks.

Speaker:

>> RB: So you, you do hail.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: What a story.

Speaker:

>> RB: Lancaster.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: I do Lancaster.

Speaker:

>> RB: Link Lancaster if you're not from Lancaster.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Lancaster if you're from Lancaster.

Speaker:

>> RB: Okay. How did, so did you end up in Morgantown?

Speaker:

Because of their theater program?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: No, no, it was, uh, I didn't get into, uh. What is

Speaker:

it like?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: No, he was, I think I applied.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: To Arizona State, uh, Clemson and South Carolina,

Speaker:

and I got into wvu. So it was a girl I went to

Speaker:

school with, her brother was going there and we

Speaker:

went for a football game. And so that was my only

Speaker:

great experience. That was my only connection.

Speaker:

But, uh, I loved it. I loved it.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Oh, I think that's hilarious that you.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Went to the Cooper's Rock.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Oh, yeah.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Cheat Lake, uh, right there, that's where I live.

Speaker:

I, I, I would go down there and just, there's old

Speaker:

water towers that go climb at night, just sit and

Speaker:

chill in cemeteries. Like I have all kinds of

Speaker:

nooks in that town.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah, I love it, dude.

Speaker:

>> RB: So you moved to Hawaii for a year, as you said,

Speaker:

then you moved to la. What was that experience

Speaker:

like for you, coming from small town, Pennsylvania

Speaker:

to Morgantown, West Virginia, then, then to la,

Speaker:

Big city, bright lights.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Uh, I think, I think I, I kept my ambitions close

Speaker:

to the vest. I think it would have been like

Speaker:

saying I wanted to be an astronaut. I grew up a

Speaker:

bunch of brothers, single mom, and, and she always

Speaker:

erred on, uh, the pragmatic side. It's like

Speaker:

everything's, ah, uh, that's not going to work

Speaker:

out. So, you know, I just kind of did my own

Speaker:

thing.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Taylor, why would you do that?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah, and that's not going to work, you know. Took

Speaker:

a minute. But I remember I, I, I booked my first

Speaker:

kind of big gig relatively quick. Well, my first

Speaker:

paying job was in a Foo Fighters video. But I

Speaker:

showed up the day of the shoot. I didn't have a

Speaker:

car and in la, and that's kind of, you know, it's,

Speaker:

it's terrible. But I remember taking the, like the

Speaker:

subway from North Hollywood to Hollywood and then

Speaker:

got a cab for like 10, 10 miles and then walked

Speaker:

the rest. So I showed up crazy, sunburnt. And the

Speaker:

director's like, what the hell are you doing? I

Speaker:

can't, I can't shoot you like.

Speaker:

>> RB: The raccoon, he's just like, you're, you're

Speaker:

You're.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You're.

Speaker:

>> RB: You're just.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You're blown out. You're too dark.

Speaker:

>> RB: What do you do?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: So my finger made the cut, but I still have the. I

Speaker:

still have the. The cash, uh, from that first job,

Speaker:

and my brother framed it, and it's in my place in

Speaker:

Lancaster. But, uh, I did a show.

Speaker:

>> RB: So they paid you cash, and then you still have

Speaker:

that cash from that paid gig.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: First paying job in Hollywood.

Speaker:

>> RB: Did you get to fighters or did you get them to

Speaker:

sign it?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: No, I. And I. No, I. It wasn't.

Speaker:

>> RB: It was just.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It wasn't with the. The band. It was, like, tied

Speaker:

into a story. But I met, uh, Dave Grohl.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: That's what I was gonna ask you if you met Dave.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Dave Grohl at the Grammys. And we were. We were.

Speaker:

We were hanging with, like, R2D2, like, backstage

Speaker:

or something. But I didn't. I didn't bring up the

Speaker:

story.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You should have.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. And he's a cool guy. He's so.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> RB: That's wild.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah, he's one of the best.

Speaker:

>> RB: So your fingers in the Foo Fighters video?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: My finger is in the Foo Fighters video.

Speaker:

>> RB: Like, if we showed that video, you'd be like,

Speaker:

there.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Um, best. Best of you or best of me? That

Speaker:

song.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Oh, that's Starting Line I'm thinking of.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: But.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah, I know that song. What you mean? Yeah,

Speaker:

didn't, um, you do construction? Mess around with

Speaker:

that, too.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. My buddy, uh, my. One of my best buddies

Speaker:

growing up, his dad was a subcontractor. So we.

Speaker:

We'd go on these road trips up and down the east

Speaker:

coast doing. Renovating restaurants. We do, like,

Speaker:

drop ceilings, tiles, and bars, and it was like

Speaker:

being in a band. But we didn't play music. It was

Speaker:

just because you'd work all night, and we'd go,

Speaker:

like, in North Carolina, Boston, and we're riding

Speaker:

in the back of, like, a box truck, like, drinking

Speaker:

Budweiser the whole time. So we would go renovate

Speaker:

these restaurants. Uh, and back then, I mean, 20

Speaker:

bucks an hour under the table, that was. We were

Speaker:

making good money, cash money. I like seeing my

Speaker:

work and working with my hands. And then, I don't

Speaker:

know, the acting thing just. Well, I love it. You

Speaker:

know, I love storytelling and, uh, like,

Speaker:

everything about it. I just. I guess, you know,

Speaker:

100 years ago, I would have joined the circus.

Speaker:

Yeah. But this is, like, the closest thing I'll

Speaker:

come to a 9 to 5. So I've been doing the gig, I've

Speaker:

been doing now for this is season 14, which is

Speaker:

Chicago Fire.

Speaker:

>> RB: This is the longest running show on TV right now.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Or, uh, most watched it maybe on NBC, uh, Law &

Speaker:

Order, SVU. I remember going to upfronts in New

Speaker:

York when we started, so season one or two, and

Speaker:

running into Mariska, who I've always had a crush

Speaker:

on, and I always, like, jump at the chances, like

Speaker:

with Dick, uh, Wolf or whoever. I'm like, write a

Speaker:

storyline of us together, like. And she came out,

Speaker:

her and Ice Tea came out, and, uh, they've done

Speaker:

some episodes in Chicago for a crossover, what

Speaker:

have you. But I remember running into her in New

Speaker:

York and It was season 14. They're season 14 or

Speaker:

15. And just being like, that's rarefied air.

Speaker:

That's crazy. And now you're living in wild. It's

Speaker:

just.

Speaker:

>> RB: Wild. So, you know, your first pay gig with the

Speaker:

Foo Fighters, which your finger got in. But, um,

Speaker:

from there, where did it go, like, was your

Speaker:

mindset, I'm going to be an actor and I'm going to

Speaker:

make this.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Happen. Yeah. Like.

Speaker:

>> RB: Um. Because a lot of that is the right place, the

Speaker:

right time.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Too. Yeah, it's a. It's. You have to have a, like

Speaker:

a blind optimism and, uh, like a tenacity. Like,

Speaker:

if you have a plan B, it won't work. And that's

Speaker:

true. And if you listen to anybody else, it won't

Speaker:

work. So it's like, anytime, like, if someone came

Speaker:

up to me for advice, I'd say, don't do it. And if

Speaker:

you listen to me, you never. You don't have a

Speaker:

chance anyway. So you have to be, uh, pretty

Speaker:

bullheaded. But I. I took my lumps. I mean, I was.

Speaker:

I did a show in San Diego, like 50 episodes. It

Speaker:

was like a little telenovela adapted soap. I

Speaker:

played Bo Derek's son, and it was. It was like

Speaker:

acting boot camp. I was like 24 or something and

Speaker:

making decent money. This is my first time with

Speaker:

this. And, you know, I'm acting 12 hours a day,

Speaker:

six days a week, and I'm getting. I'm get done.

Speaker:

And it's just what you've been doing. And so I'm

Speaker:

thinking, oh, I'll get done with this, and the

Speaker:

phone's gonna be ringing off the hook and nothing.

Speaker:

And then I go audition for something. And so

Speaker:

that's a different skill set. So right from, you

Speaker:

know, doing your thing. And then there was a

Speaker:

writers strike, uh, 2007, 8. So I went a good

Speaker:

year, maybe two years without working, and. And I

Speaker:

got the shits of la. So I. I moved. I stayed down

Speaker:

in San Diego. I'd surfing and I'd ride my bike up

Speaker:

to LA for auditions and whatever. But, yeah, I

Speaker:

started waiting tables again down at, uh, in

Speaker:

Gaslamp in San Diego. So it's like, it's humbling.

Speaker:

Like, soon it's like, hey, you want another soda?

Speaker:

Or something like that. They're like, aren't you

Speaker:

the guy from. I was like, yeah, I'm broke. Y. And,

Speaker:

well, Drew, uh, dried.

Speaker:

>> RB: Up. So do you want that.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Soda? But it was. It was good. And then it's just,

Speaker:

you know, I got back into theater. A, uh, couple

Speaker:

little companies, and you get up on stage and, you

Speaker:

know, you. You go, you grind, you grind, you

Speaker:

grind. And, you know, when the opportunity

Speaker:

presents yourself and you're ready, it's like.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You know, yeah, you show.

Speaker:

>> RB: Up. It's a lot of similarities, though, uh, to,

Speaker:

like, the PGA Tour, right? Like, uh, that's kind

Speaker:

of. You're, um. When you're standing in front of

Speaker:

everybody and you're having to give your best

Speaker:

performance, that they pick you. It's like golf,

Speaker:

right? And winning a major. You've prepared for

Speaker:

this your whole life. You've got to capitalize

Speaker:

when you have those.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Opportunities. I can't imagine. Uh, I've been to a

Speaker:

few, I don't know, PGA events. One in, um. What's

Speaker:

the one they have? Riviera in.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: La. Yeah. US.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Wave.

Speaker:

>> RB: Where? The Genesis.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. And it's just, I don't know, I guess the

Speaker:

same. You have to be so locked in mentally. And I

Speaker:

know coming up, how many people are vying for,

Speaker:

whether it's like, corn fairy spots or what have

Speaker:

you, and that, that. That degree of who's making

Speaker:

it, getting a card and who isn't, uh, that's.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Fascinating. And everyone's trying, and there's

Speaker:

wild thousands of people to.

Speaker:

>> RB: Try. But I love the people that watch golf, and

Speaker:

they're like, how could he miss that putt? I'm

Speaker:

like, what? How can he miss that putt? You're

Speaker:

sitting on your couch. Okay, number one. Number

Speaker:

two. I've watched you putt in front of three other

Speaker:

people. You wouldn't be able to take the putter

Speaker:

back in that situation, let alone hit the ball. So

Speaker:

I don't think any of us can ever imagine how much

Speaker:

pressure those guys feel if they're trying to win

Speaker:

for the first time. Like, if. If you actually look

Speaker:

back on Jack Nicklaus, you look back on Tiger

Speaker:

woods, think about how many wins they had and how

Speaker:

locked in they Were. That's pretty.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Insane. Yeah, I.

Speaker:

>> RB: Tiger.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Definitely. Yeah. I think it's a, uh. I. I don't

Speaker:

know. It's like you block a momentum thing, but it

Speaker:

would have to be. It's like when you, like,

Speaker:

there's a lot of people, like, and let's say in

Speaker:

acting classes or what have you, where you get

Speaker:

comfortable in your surrounding and you could be

Speaker:

great in like a scene study thing or something

Speaker:

like that, but you take someone out of their

Speaker:

element and it's. They can't. You can't perform.

Speaker:

And that's. That's the difference between who's

Speaker:

gonna get great, do it, and who's not. And the

Speaker:

same thing. It's like when you guys have a great

Speaker:

round, then you find something in your swing that

Speaker:

just, like, is working. Like, you. You project

Speaker:

future outcomes to things that haven't happened.

Speaker:

You're like, okay, well, if I had that swing, I'd

Speaker:

win the member. Guest. If I had that swing, you

Speaker:

know, I could be doing this. It's like, that's not

Speaker:

how it works. Yeah. So the guys.

Speaker:

>> RB: That.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Are. The guys that are on tour doing that, like,

Speaker:

uh, well, hats off to the mental fortitude to

Speaker:

finish. It's.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Crazy. You always hear about people saying, his

Speaker:

game travels. His game travels. How many guys, you

Speaker:

know that you play with them at their course, and

Speaker:

they know every in, in and out of that course,

Speaker:

they shoot their game. They, you know, whatever.

Speaker:

And then you take them on a golf trip somewhere

Speaker:

and they're just flustered because they're like,

Speaker:

they can't. Because they're out. Out of their

Speaker:

element a little.

Speaker:

>> RB: Bit. We had a kid on our college golf team, he

Speaker:

would shoot 66, 67, every qualifier to get to the

Speaker:

event, and then he'd shoot 85.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: 88. That's what I mean, that in.

Speaker:

>> RB: Every tournament round, you're like, what in the.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Hell? Dude, That's. You got. I remember playing,

Speaker:

uh. Where'd we.

Speaker:

>> RB: Go?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Peachtree. Oh.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Is it Peachtree? Yeah. I couldn't find a

Speaker:

swing there, but. And the same. It's like, not the

Speaker:

club. There's so many different things going on,

Speaker:

and it's like you just want it to end so you can

Speaker:

go, like, fix something, like, at the range or

Speaker:

what have you. But like, that's. That's the same.

Speaker:

It's like, uh, a. It's like a little. Little.

Speaker:

>> RB: Breakdown. But you ever have those days, though,

Speaker:

on set, like, where you're like, having such a bad

Speaker:

day that you're just like, uh, I need to get Away

Speaker:

from this for the day.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Or. Yeah. Uh, what can you do when.

Speaker:

>> RB: You have a bad day on set? You go stand in front

Speaker:

of a mirror and say you're.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Lying. You know, the, the thing with, with that is

Speaker:

you can, it's just like a, I don't know, it's an

Speaker:

energy. You can feel it if, if somebody's

Speaker:

unprepared or if something keeps dropping a line

Speaker:

or something like that. It's like I've been doing

Speaker:

it for so long that it, I, I don't, I don't get in

Speaker:

the weeds like that. I can't say I never have. Uh,

Speaker:

but I, if somebody does, it's, it's what, because

Speaker:

you have, you know, uh, 100 people saying, doing,

Speaker:

uh, a job, everybody's working. And so you do your

Speaker:

thing and everything goes, you know, expected,

Speaker:

then fine. But you mess up once, okay. Then you

Speaker:

mess up twice, then, then the boom operator,

Speaker:

you're standing there, then he's looking at you,

Speaker:

then you have the whole people looking at you.

Speaker:

Then you take in, well, how many millions of

Speaker:

people are watching this? Then you're, then you're

Speaker:

fucked up, right? Then you can't, it's like done.

Speaker:

Yeah, the person's not there. Like they're

Speaker:

somewhere.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Else. Yeah, they're, they're, they're spaced.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Out. So. Yeah, like you kind of have to be locked.

Speaker:

>> RB: In. Yeah, but that's, yeah, but what's the same

Speaker:

back to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Golf. Like, but I'm just saying though, like that

Speaker:

mental aspect of how important it is in, in

Speaker:

obviously in acting, but with golf in general,

Speaker:

because you could take someone that can play

Speaker:

wherever they play and then you just take them out

Speaker:

of their element a little bit and it's more for,

Speaker:

um, you know, it's probably the higher

Speaker:

handicappers really, you.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Know. Yeah, I would imagine like some like.

Speaker:

>> RB: Auditioning. Uh.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Is, is, is, is a, is mind numbing. You show

Speaker:

up, you, you work for a day or how long, however

Speaker:

much long you've had the material. You go in,

Speaker:

you're going to read for casting, uh, director,

Speaker:

director. And then you see 40 dudes that maybe

Speaker:

look just like you or what have you or someone in

Speaker:

the sign in sheet signed like, you know, like Toby

Speaker:

Maguire. You're like, wow. They just rouse you.

Speaker:

You go in, you can have really bad reads and it

Speaker:

should be a cold read. Everyone auditions is

Speaker:

different. But I always like for scene study and

Speaker:

what have you. If I'm in front of people, it's

Speaker:

like, I'll, uh, have it. And if I like I won't

Speaker:

question before I go up. And so you have to get

Speaker:

there. So I think that translates in that you have

Speaker:

to know. You have to be confident with the. The

Speaker:

tools that you bring what you have to the thing.

Speaker:

And then if. If you check it and you're like, I'm

Speaker:

just gonna. I'm gonna. I'm gonna paint a picture.

Speaker:

Like, uh, you can either buy the painting or. Or

Speaker:

not. But I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna let you tell

Speaker:

me what colors to use. And so that always helped

Speaker:

me, like, auditioning, because it's like, you

Speaker:

can't appease everybody. So it's like, well, this

Speaker:

is my take on.

Speaker:

>> RB: It. This.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Is. I drop a line, what have you. But, um, I'm.

Speaker:

This is the character that I see, like, if 100

Speaker:

kids walk through the door trying to. Trying to

Speaker:

audition for Huckleberry Finn, and they're nailing

Speaker:

it, you know, they're like, oh, that kid's great,

Speaker:

and that kid's great. But they're just. They don't

Speaker:

have that. Like, that, you know, that one little

Speaker:

yeah factor. So when a kid walks through and he

Speaker:

trips, he's like, oh, sorry. I don't know. I'm a

Speaker:

little late, you know. You know, I'm, um. My dad's

Speaker:

drunk. I don't know. I just barely get, like,

Speaker:

that's him. Yeah, it's kind of like that. So it's

Speaker:

like, you see it and, you know what you see. I

Speaker:

don't know how that translates to, like, the best

Speaker:

golfing. But.

Speaker:

>> RB: Your. Your first audition, how did it all happen

Speaker:

with Chicago Fire? And you, like, did they reach

Speaker:

out to you for an audition? Did your agency reach

Speaker:

out to them? How did that all transpire? Because I

Speaker:

think a lot of people that listen to the show have

Speaker:

heard, you know, they now know how to write a

Speaker:

country music song, and they know what goes into

Speaker:

get to that song. Yeah, they don't know what it

Speaker:

takes to get to the TV.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Set. Uh, it's. It's like years, like, I always

Speaker:

say, like, people. And I was at the place where I

Speaker:

didn't have. It's not like I'm resting on my

Speaker:

laurels. There wasn't any nepotism. I didn't have,

Speaker:

you know, like, come from money or famous parents.

Speaker:

So it was like, uh, I'm throwing things against

Speaker:

the wall and. And what? Sticks. Sticks. So it

Speaker:

wasn't like, I. I only was auditioning for

Speaker:

television. I only auditioned for film. I only

Speaker:

auditioned, you know, theater, commercial, what

Speaker:

have you. I was Just going.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: For. For whatever.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Was. I would get. And I had done a pilot the last

Speaker:

year, um, for NBC with Don Johnson that didn't get

Speaker:

picked up. And so it's another year for television

Speaker:

anyway. And I think I booked. No, I was

Speaker:

auditioning, or maybe I had booked Zero Dark

Speaker:

Thirty. The film. Yeah, yeah. But it was yet to

Speaker:

shoot. And I came from. I booked Shameless, and I

Speaker:

was doing an arc, Shameless. And I, uh, think John

Speaker:

Pabsidera, the casting director, I auditioned for

Speaker:

him a few times and it was like, there's stepping

Speaker:

stones. And I was, like, really excited to get it.

Speaker:

So it kind of ups your confidence. And I had

Speaker:

another audition for a casting director that I had

Speaker:

a bad read for, like, months ago. And I was like,

Speaker:

I'm gonna dial this in. And I did. And it was on

Speaker:

the heels of that. So then I go in for Chicago

Speaker:

Fire, not knowing too much other than it was NBC

Speaker:

and Dick Wolf, which is huge. And I read with the

Speaker:

creators, Michael, uh, Brandt, Der Cos. And I

Speaker:

just. I had a really good read. I felt. I felt

Speaker:

freed up. And I'm like, well, I'll just do my

Speaker:

thing. And then I get a call back and then they

Speaker:

had me chemistry, uh, read with other.

Speaker:

>> RB: Actors. So chemistry reads basically. Like Ryan

Speaker:

and I would be sitting here and we just started

Speaker:

that. We're feeding off of one another type thing.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Right? Yeah. Like, we'll bring to, like, for the.

Speaker:

Another character. So it was like my character and

Speaker:

then, uh, the Casey character. So they bring in a

Speaker:

bunch of people to read for Casey. So. And then

Speaker:

see how they feel.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: How they get vibe with.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: The. I hadn't booked it yet, but then I remember.

Speaker:

I remember booking.

Speaker:

>> RB: It. That.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Was. That was a pretty. That was pretty. That was

Speaker:

pretty.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Amazing.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. But I remember shooting a pilot in Chicago

Speaker:

in March of 2012 and then filming Zero Dark Thirty

Speaker:

in Jordan and then coming back. And I remember I

Speaker:

didn't have a place to stay. What have you. And

Speaker:

other. Other cast. Uh, cast members that already

Speaker:

got, like, leases for an apartment or what have

Speaker:

you. And I was walking up Michigan Avenue. I was

Speaker:

like, I should get something. I was like, I might

Speaker:

be here for a minute because I hadn't. The longest

Speaker:

stretch, I was in San Francisco. I did a. A show

Speaker:

there for a year. Got canceled pilot, got canceled

Speaker:

arcs, they come and go. So it was, you know, it

Speaker:

just happened.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Early. Good. Uh, no, I was just going to say early

Speaker:

on. I know we had talked about this, but I don't

Speaker:

know at what point in your Career. This was. But

Speaker:

you filmed the movie early on with Cameron Diaz.

Speaker:

Yeah, it was that, that was, uh, pretty early on

Speaker:

in your.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Career. That was, I mean, that had a. After season

Speaker:

two or three. I remember because, uh, I really

Speaker:

wanted to work with the director. It was Nick

Speaker:

Cassavetes. And um, so I'd get the material I was

Speaker:

working in here in Chicago, and then I'd get

Speaker:

material for the film and I put myself on tape,

Speaker:

send it in, and I booked it off of a tape, like a

Speaker:

home tape, which is kind of rare, but. Yeah. And

Speaker:

then that was, you know, you never know. Like,

Speaker:

I've done projects where, like I remember, uh,

Speaker:

doing a project with, uh, Bill Murray, uh, Rock

Speaker:

the Kasbah in Morocco. And the script is amazing.

Speaker:

It was, it was, it was, it was, it was ridiculous.

Speaker:

It was ridiculous. Uh, yeah. And Kate Hudson,

Speaker:

Bruce Willis. It was like a, it was, that was,

Speaker:

that was a. But it didn't, it didn't do well in

Speaker:

the, in the box.

Speaker:

>> RB: Office.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. I guess. I think Omari got into a thing with

Speaker:

one of the producers and he's like, I'm not doing

Speaker:

anything press or promo, something weird. But it

Speaker:

was this. On paper, it was like one of the better

Speaker:

scripts I'd seen. And so you don't know. You can't

Speaker:

like, you know, put all your eggs into one thing

Speaker:

and the other woman was, uh, had director, and you

Speaker:

just don't know what it's gonna do. And then I

Speaker:

still, there's people that I run into all the time

Speaker:

that still like, that's my favorite movie. I'm

Speaker:

like, oh, that's okay. Cool. But she was amazing.

Speaker:

And that was, that was one of the, the cooler

Speaker:

projects. Ah.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. That's knockout to work with Bill.

Speaker:

>> RB: Murray. I mean, come.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: On.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah. You know, there, the, the Bill Murray in

Speaker:

Bash. I've told this story numerous times before.

Speaker:

Um, my man, never saw Caddyshack really for up

Speaker:

until what, you're 39? Turn, you're turning 40

Speaker:

next year, probably about four years ago, you

Speaker:

finally watched it for the first.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Time. That's.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: True. Within the last four years, like.

Speaker:

>> RB: Full on golfer, watched Caddyshack and all time.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Great. Now when you go to like the, like you get,

Speaker:

go to the turn, you go up and I want a hot dog.

Speaker:

No, I want some chips. I want a.

Speaker:

>> RB: Hamburger. I'm.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Spalding. See, I don't even know the, the.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Names. You'll have nothing in.

Speaker:

>> RB: Like. You'll have nothing in.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Like.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It. I wish I could contribute. Yeah, I, I, I know.

Speaker:

I just I never saw.

Speaker:

>> RB: It. Mr. Havin.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Camp. Now, I. Now I. I've seen it now, but it's a

Speaker:

great.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Movie. Yeah, but I mean, it's.

Speaker:

>> RB: Like. So as a golfer, you quote, it's at least

Speaker:

quarter once.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Around. Of course, I think the. One of the.

Speaker:

There's the course where they filmed.

Speaker:

>> RB: That. Yeah, it's Green Oaks in, uh.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Miami. It. I played it. I played it. Uh, it's. No,

Speaker:

it's not Green Oaks. It's, um. I think it's Royal

Speaker:

Oaks. It's outside of Miami, outside of Fort.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Lauderdale. Oh, uh, right.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: On. Um, I played there with, uh. With John Philly.

Speaker:

With Bill Murray. I played with Bill Murray. It

Speaker:

was incredible. You know who's really close with

Speaker:

Bill Murray is John Ashworth. Him and Murray are,

Speaker:

like, super tight. John Ashworth obviously started

Speaker:

Ashworth and then link Soul and no, you know, we.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Known. But I grew up. My old man was the golfer,

Speaker:

and I caddied. I was. My birthday is in the middle

Speaker:

of July, so I'm. I don't know. Never got the. The

Speaker:

cupcakes, brownies stuff at school. But, like, you

Speaker:

had to be 13 to Caddy. And I was 12, uh, going

Speaker:

into the summer. I wanted a job. So I was 12 when

Speaker:

I started caddying. And I'd walk from my pop's

Speaker:

place to his club, uh, Bent Creek in Lancaster,

Speaker:

and I just wait around, I'd caddy, and that's. And

Speaker:

then I, uh, you know, shag balls after. And that's

Speaker:

kind of how I got into. To golf and following my

Speaker:

old man around. But he was a big. He played all

Speaker:

the time. And then I didn't really start playing

Speaker:

playing until till.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Later. Recently. No, not recently, but I bang.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Around. But, yeah, I didn't get a handicap until

Speaker:

maybe two, three. Three years.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Ago.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah. Bushwood Country Club. Yeah, the name of it.

Speaker:

In Caddyshack. But Grand.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Oaks. Grand Oaks, that's right. But I mean, you

Speaker:

got for. For just getting like, yeah, you can play

Speaker:

it.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Man. Yeah, I went down the rabbit. Love it. It's

Speaker:

hit or it's. It's like anything. It's. It's

Speaker:

evolving. But, uh, it was something that, uh. Man,

Speaker:

it occupies your mind in a healthy way, I found.

Speaker:

And there was a. There was a writer's strike

Speaker:

recently, and I had a bunch. This is after Covid.

Speaker:

And, um, now, uh, my brothers and I are members at

Speaker:

Lancaster Country Club because my mom has a place

Speaker:

nearby. So it only felt fitting that, you know, we

Speaker:

get a membership. And I was out of state and we

Speaker:

had the same. Same caddy master from when I.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Was. When you were there.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Early. Uh, and he was there, and I had whatever

Speaker:

membership, like, out of state, whatever. But I

Speaker:

exceeded the rounds in, like. Like 20 days or

Speaker:

something. I was like, I should get a. I should

Speaker:

get a full one. And I think I played, like, 85

Speaker:

rounds and. And, like, one the first summer I was.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: There. That's so funny. Oh, he's. He's.

Speaker:

>> RB: Addicted. Oh.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: He'S. Yeah, I love.

Speaker:

>> RB: It. He's addicted to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Golf. Yeah. Um, we. My brothers and I came out to

Speaker:

Neme, so I had my brothers out and played and.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Like. Yeah, you guys were. My brothers were

Speaker:

more than impressed. They're like, damn. They.

Speaker:

They. I was like, yeah, they're.

Speaker:

>> RB: Good. Some of that TK.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Money. Yeah. I don't care. I just thought I was.

Speaker:

The first time I met, uh. Ah, I'm like, 100. 100

Speaker:

bucks each.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Hole. Every.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Hole. And he's just. You know, he had two cigars

Speaker:

in his mouth, and, you know, he's asking one. He's

Speaker:

like, sure, I'll take.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. I was like, I'll catch you next.

Speaker:

>> RB: Time. Meanwhile, I wanted to go have lunch with.

Speaker:

On you, and I couldn't.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: So. Because you signed it, he's cut back on the.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Cigars. I have. Oh.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Nice. Which is good for his.

Speaker:

>> RB: Health. Yeah. But we should go to the cigar bar.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Tonight. We should. Yeah. There's a good one.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Downtown. Um, yeah. So, no, it's. It's all an

Speaker:

interesting story. I mean, with. With what you got

Speaker:

going on. I mean, so from a. From a standpoint of

Speaker:

acting in general, I mean, you gotta memorize

Speaker:

every damn word you're saying, every line, every

Speaker:

position you gotta be in. I mean, that seems so

Speaker:

damn.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Hard. It's.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Uh. And that's probably the easiest part for.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You. Exposition is tough. So if I'm rattling. If.

Speaker:

If the dialogue is something where you're rattling

Speaker:

off street names that you don't know. Ah, Numbers,

Speaker:

what have.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Or. But for the most part, if it's character

Speaker:

stuff, like, you know, I have the face popped in

Speaker:

my head, so I can. And it's a muscle, so it's. I

Speaker:

could be, uh, in a makeup trailer and go look at

Speaker:

two pages of dialogue and have it pretty. A pretty

Speaker:

good idea of it. And then. And then it's. It's

Speaker:

like music. It's a banter. So it's like. And I've

Speaker:

been working with this, you know, uh, the. The

Speaker:

core group of the cast has been There. Yeah,

Speaker:

they're still. Yeah. So it's a, it's an easy

Speaker:

rapport where you're like, you know, you just hear

Speaker:

it, you read it, bing, bing, bing, and then, you

Speaker:

know, you shoot.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It. So let me ask you something from, from your

Speaker:

perspective in the position you're in now with

Speaker:

this show being as big as it is on NBC, if another

Speaker:

director of a show, let's say a Taylor Sheridan,

Speaker:

I'm, um, using an example called. And wanted to

Speaker:

cast you for one of his crazy shows he's coming

Speaker:

out with. Are you legally able to do that or can

Speaker:

you not do it because of contractual.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Obligations? So here with, uh, like the Other

Speaker:

Woman was a studio flick and I'm in, uh, I'm under

Speaker:

contract with NBC and that would be first

Speaker:

position. So they, so they have to get the dates.

Speaker:

The board right. So there was, there was a hiccup

Speaker:

there where the dates overlapped where the film

Speaker:

wanted me to be available after I was due to start

Speaker:

back up in Chicago for the next season, but I

Speaker:

wasn't going to be shooting. It was just in case

Speaker:

of reshoots or what have you. And so that can cost

Speaker:

you a job. Yeah, I remember getting in touch with

Speaker:

this. It worked out, but a lot of times it.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Doesn'T. It.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Doesn'T. So. And then they have like, you know, it

Speaker:

would be like a non compete.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Clause. Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Right. That's what I was. I have a buddy, uh,

Speaker:

White Shadow. DJ White Shadow. He's a good buddy.

Speaker:

And he was doing something for Thanksgiving on

Speaker:

like a float down downtown. He's like, you should

Speaker:

come up. I was like, yeah, I'll do it. And then he

Speaker:

ran it by one of the, uh, whoever is putting it on

Speaker:

producers. And they're like. He's like, yeah,

Speaker:

yeah, Taylor, uh, King, the Chicago Fire. They're

Speaker:

like, absolutely not. Because it was for. Because

Speaker:

it was abc. Oh. So they didn't even want me there

Speaker:

around. Yeah, that's how wild that.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Is. Damn. Yeah, that's.

Speaker:

>> RB: Crazy. It's like you're. You're theirs. Which is

Speaker:

great because it's a great show. And it's not.

Speaker:

It's not saying that in a negative way. But that's

Speaker:

wild how that game.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Works. Yeah, but there's a finite window of.

Speaker:

Because, uh, we'll do typically 22, 23 episodes a

Speaker:

season. We start mid July. We'll go to May. So you

Speaker:

have May, June, maybe a week or so in July that

Speaker:

you could do other projects. And the first bunch

Speaker:

of years I was. It was just Non stop. I was, I was

Speaker:

reading scripts when I, you know, was working here

Speaker:

in Chicago on the show to just for something

Speaker:

during my hiatus. And then, you know, there's

Speaker:

projects that you want to do that you chase, that

Speaker:

you don't get, or, you know, either directors or

Speaker:

casting directors you want to read for, directors

Speaker:

you want to work with that you know, you don't

Speaker:

get. But the opportunities, it's good to just get

Speaker:

in there. Uh, and then you get maybe offered

Speaker:

something. And usually if you get, it's, it's

Speaker:

great. But typically, yeah, not what you want to

Speaker:

be.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Doing.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. And like one time I did it, I got offered

Speaker:

this horror flick and I said no and I was chasing

Speaker:

something else and it, the timing didn't work out

Speaker:

or fell through. And then they came back and then

Speaker:

they had a female lead and they came back with

Speaker:

another offer, a bunch of money. And I was like,

Speaker:

yeah, I'll do it. So I went to, it was in Serbia,

Speaker:

so I, so now I was in Serbia for like a month and

Speaker:

a half. Um, in, uh, outside of war. And no one, no

Speaker:

one around. There's a sheep farmer that didn't

Speaker:

speak English and I'd hang out with him in the

Speaker:

morning with his sheep and I go walking in the

Speaker:

woods and we talk to each other. I'd speak English

Speaker:

and he'd be serving, but I didn't know what the

Speaker:

hell he's saying. And uh, Rocky Arakia was, uh, is

Speaker:

plum wine. So we drink plum wine, walking sheep.

Speaker:

And I mean, that was like a month and a half of

Speaker:

my, you know, my life. I'm like, why'd I do this?

Speaker:

And the M. Movie, the movie was shitty. But, But

Speaker:

Serbia is beautiful. Yeah. Yeah. So it's like you

Speaker:

have to weigh your, you know, it's a, it's a time.

Speaker:

>> RB: Thing.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Right? It's. So now, now I, I get to break. Uh.

Speaker:

And you know, I, I, I want to spend time with my

Speaker:

family. I want, I want a, a little downtime.

Speaker:

>> RB: So. Yeah, it all changes when you have kids. Yeah,

Speaker:

that's, it's, that's for sure. I mean, um, but

Speaker:

what is your, the, the shooting schedule like, um,

Speaker:

as far as, do you do it mostly certain times of

Speaker:

the day. I know there's some night scenes. I'll be

Speaker:

honest. I never watched Chicago Fire until we

Speaker:

played. Until I took your money at Nemacullin. Um,

Speaker:

but I'll get you back one.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Day. One.

Speaker:

>> RB: Day. Now that I watch it, it's, it's, it's what? I

Speaker:

just think it's so wild how much goes into a.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Show.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah. Like, how. How long does one episode take

Speaker:

to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Shoot? Uh, two weeks. Roughly. Two.

Speaker:

>> RB: Weeks. That's crazy. One.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Hour. Yeah. And that's an hour. A lot of it. Like,

Speaker:

the incident scenes. You see anything? Action. I

Speaker:

mean, there's so many moving pieces, but it might

Speaker:

be. We might spend a day, maybe two days, and that

Speaker:

might be a minute and a half or two minutes of on

Speaker:

the screen. Um, so, yeah, it's a lot of hurry up

Speaker:

and wait, but. And I. Like, if we were working. If

Speaker:

I was working while you guys were still here, I

Speaker:

know you're taking off. I'd say come by set, but

Speaker:

it's like, I don't, uh. You know, you don't want

Speaker:

to see the magic. You know, I don't want to lose.

Speaker:

Lose the stuff. But it's a lot of hurry up and

Speaker:

wait, a lot of cakes and a lot of.

Speaker:

>> RB: People. But I feel like Ryan would not be a good

Speaker:

firefighter. Just trying to get up the step to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: The. Hey.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Dude. We did have a fire. We were on the west

Speaker:

side, and we were shooting. This is like, a couple

Speaker:

years ago, but with all our gear, all our stuff,

Speaker:

and there's a proper fire breaks out at an

Speaker:

apartment complex right beside us. So we all run

Speaker:

over, and it's, uh, fully involved. I mean, it's

Speaker:

like, people are. It's moving, and people are

Speaker:

running out. They're screaming, this is a real

Speaker:

fire. This is a real fire. And we're all over and,

Speaker:

like, it doesn't. We. I have. I have full bunker

Speaker:

gear on a helmet. And they're like, hell, I'm

Speaker:

like, hey, guys. And you want to go over. But then

Speaker:

we're getting yelled at by, like, uh, ads and what

Speaker:

producers. Like, you can't. Like, guys, what are

Speaker:

you gonna do? Get the hell away from there. And

Speaker:

then some of the guys that we work with are

Speaker:

firefighters, like, uh, that help out, but they're

Speaker:

in, like, their civvies, so they're running over

Speaker:

and all our trucks and what have you, the props.

Speaker:

It's just so. People are just confused as hell.

Speaker:

And then the real, like, real fire department

Speaker:

comes, and they're like, what the hell are you

Speaker:

guys? Like, what's going on here? And it was. I

Speaker:

don't know what paper, but it was. It was like,

Speaker:

uh, in the Tribune or something the next day. It

Speaker:

was like, fake fire. Fake firefighters show up to

Speaker:

real fire, decided to do nothing. It was. It was.

Speaker:

It was gnarly. But, yeah, I mean, can you Imagine

Speaker:

like, you know, running out of a place like.

Speaker:

>> RB: Hell.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Help. And it's just a bunch of actors standing

Speaker:

around because they're probably like.

Speaker:

>> RB: What are these firefighters.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Doing? Uh, that's what I mean. Like, you know, you

Speaker:

think about it, you don't. In your mind, you're

Speaker:

in. You're in that role of acting and you see what

Speaker:

you are trying.

Speaker:

>> RB: To. So needless to say, you guys didn't do.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Anything.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: No. You dropped away. What are you going to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Do? Dude, I was driving up last week, we had snow.

Speaker:

And I was driving up on my way to work and I, uh,

Speaker:

passed the person in the ditch. So naturally I

Speaker:

stopped. I'm like, hey man. I'm like, you need

Speaker:

help? And he's like, yeah, I do. I was like. So

Speaker:

then I'm, you know, I'm obligated, which is fine.

Speaker:

I didn't have chains in my truck. So I said, let

Speaker:

me go back in my side by side. I have a winch on

Speaker:

it, so I'll come back up. And he's like in this

Speaker:

Honda Civic in the ditch like this. There's snow

Speaker:

everywhere. And I never did this in my life. I'm

Speaker:

like, how the hell am I going to get him out? So I

Speaker:

couldn't figure out he didn't kill you. Well, I'm

Speaker:

asking him. Like I said, you, you hook it up

Speaker:

because I don't want to be responsible for pulling

Speaker:

your bumper off with this winch. And he tried to

Speaker:

hook it up on like the tire rod. I'm like, that's

Speaker:

probably not a good idea because it's probably

Speaker:

gonna bend the tire. So anyways, I find a little

Speaker:

loop underneath his car and I, I pull him out. You

Speaker:

know, he's pulling up and I tell him to stop. I'm

Speaker:

like, I gotta get under the car to unhook it. And

Speaker:

as I'm doing it, this tractor trailer is coming

Speaker:

around the bend about to come up the hill towards

Speaker:

us. And I just see it. I'm like. And I felt like I

Speaker:

was in a damn movie because I'm hu. Hurrying up.

Speaker:

I'm getting down, I'm trying to unhook this thing.

Speaker:

This truck's rolling up the hill. And I got him

Speaker:

out, pushed him off, off he went. I never got his

Speaker:

name. I don't know his first name. He doesn't know

Speaker:

my name. But he beeped the horn and waved and I

Speaker:

waved. And then I went just like a.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Uh. I felt like I was truck, dump.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Truck. I was like, yeah, I felt like I was in a So

Speaker:

I was a.

Speaker:

>> RB: Hero.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. For.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Somebody.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Nice. On that day in Morgantown, you felt.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Good. I felt good, yeah. Good.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Deed. Felt.

Speaker:

>> RB: Good. Yeah. That's.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Great. You know, like making a birdie, so. Which

Speaker:

we had a lot of fun. Man, we got to play so much

Speaker:

golf. A little bit. I mean, there for a while, I

Speaker:

felt like you were showing up at Nemicol, like,

Speaker:

every other.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Week. Yeah, I did. I dig it. Well, it became a pit

Speaker:

stop in between, uh, uh, Lancaster and Chicago.

Speaker:

And I remember. So my wife Ash, uh, I. I duped

Speaker:

her. I was like. We were going to take a road

Speaker:

trip, uh, from Chicago to Pennsylvania. I was

Speaker:

like, this is a year or two ago. And I was like,

Speaker:

we'll go a little south. Stop at a golf course.

Speaker:

She's like, okay, French, uh, lick. So she's like.

Speaker:

We end up there, and it was pouring rain. She

Speaker:

goes. She goes, it's eight hours south. This is

Speaker:

not even. You're like, oh, don't worry, hon. We'll

Speaker:

stop at the Greenbrier next. It's on the way. And

Speaker:

then we ended up in.

Speaker:

>> RB: Nevaeh.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. She was not.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Serious. You went.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Everywhere. Yeah. Yeah. And so that wasn't, you

Speaker:

know, it wasn't along the way, but yeah, I like. I

Speaker:

like a good road trip, and I like to find

Speaker:

different tracks and. Yeah, for a while there,

Speaker:

yeah, I'll. I, um, would go.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Anywhere. I'll.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Um. I've done it all over the.

Speaker:

>> RB: Place. You went to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Driving? Uh, Taylor likes to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Drive.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. He like. I mean, Sage Valley. He rode out at

Speaker:

like.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Midnight.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. He was like, I'm. I'm hitting the red.

Speaker:

>> RB: Boys. I woke up to a pair of freshy shoes, which

Speaker:

was great. I mean, let's. That golf trip was one

Speaker:

for the. The ages. That was.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Um. And Ryan and I got out at, uh. And happy.

Speaker:

>> RB: Birthday. Yeah, it was your.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Birthday. And then we got. We got out at midnight

Speaker:

to the par 3. The recourse in the.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Rain. Yeah, we got on with rain. I still talk

Speaker:

about.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: That. I was just talking about.

Speaker:

>> RB: This. Talking about it.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. And, um, we got dumped.

Speaker:

>> RB: On. But in that. The wildest thing. That's. I

Speaker:

always talk about that with golf. It's wild

Speaker:

because our paths would never have crossed, uh,

Speaker:

for the game of golf in reality. I mean, Ryan

Speaker:

shows up at a restaurant every once in a while,

Speaker:

sees his favorite actor from Chicago Fire. He'll

Speaker:

go over and introduce himself. But in reality, we

Speaker:

would never have.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Met.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah. And that's wild to me that golf does that

Speaker:

with so many relationships. That we all have.

Speaker:

Right? Yeah, um, it's true. And now we, we're

Speaker:

taking golf trips together. We went to Peachtree

Speaker:

and Sage Valley, um, which Peachtree to me is one

Speaker:

of my top three favorites. I love that.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Place. And it's, it's not lost on me either. Like,

Speaker:

uh, like I said, like my old man was the uh, the

Speaker:

big golfer. So I grew up with, you know what, the

Speaker:

Masters were always on the television. He was

Speaker:

just, you know, I'm sure he put a couple bucks on

Speaker:

stuff, so he was always watching. So I know a lot

Speaker:

of the names, the tracks and uh, like with Formula

Speaker:

one, like I remember playing video games and so I

Speaker:

know the tracks and you know, the first time

Speaker:

seeing, you know, like I remember going, um, I

Speaker:

think we were in France, but then we go over to

Speaker:

Monaco and we're going down Monaco and we're

Speaker:

going. I, I'd come to and, and I'm like, oh, we're

Speaker:

going the wrong way. You're going the wrong way

Speaker:

down the tunnel. Like through the tunnel and

Speaker:

Monaco in the track. So like these things, it's

Speaker:

like the game comes to life and so there's certain

Speaker:

tracks that like I've seen on television. Like I

Speaker:

took my younger brother to pebble and like the

Speaker:

place is amazing. It's like when you, yeah. When

Speaker:

you, you spend enough time watching it or playing

Speaker:

on Tiger woods or what have you and you get there,

Speaker:

it's like there's a certain, there is a real.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Moment.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. I just think it. And I've gotten to play

Speaker:

some pretty, some pretty neat tracks that you guys

Speaker:

included that I, that I wouldn't otherwise. So

Speaker:

it's. Yeah, I, I'm, I just, I love it. I love, I

Speaker:

love everything about the.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Game. Well, we're going to build on.

Speaker:

>> RB: That. Yeah. Yeah. I mean for sure. We're

Speaker:

definitely going to do that. But we need you at

Speaker:

the chase and birdie's two man event August 2nd to

Speaker:

the 4th. I know you're going to play this year,

Speaker:

but yet some things pop.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Up. Uh, it's just work. If it's work. If I can get

Speaker:

the work, it's work. Yeah, I would love to, I

Speaker:

would love to get out of.

Speaker:

>> RB: There. Well, why don't we. We'll have a scene shot

Speaker:

at. Ah, Nema. A fire. Fire breaks out. The two

Speaker:

man.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Event. I have, I haven't uh, I wanna, I don't know

Speaker:

if I should say it on, on your podcast, but I was

Speaker:

like if I were gonna do a show, my own show, I, I

Speaker:

Depend. Something. I'm thinking like something

Speaker:

along the lines, like golf detective. Right. So

Speaker:

it's. It's like a drama that you have. Like, uh,

Speaker:

like a well to do guy that wants to retire. He

Speaker:

just likes to golf. And so he. So then he gets

Speaker:

invited different places, but he's. It. It's like

Speaker:

a Magnum PI but on a golf course in different

Speaker:

courses. But you, like, you shoot the course

Speaker:

really well, and then, you know, you'd have a

Speaker:

storyline like, he solves, like, white collar

Speaker:

crimes and helps buddies, but then it parlays and

Speaker:

he keeps. And then it's just at a different club

Speaker:

in a different thing. He's just like the guy. And

Speaker:

so you go. Just because I want to, you know, like,

Speaker:

it'd be cool to go shoot an episode on the golf

Speaker:

course and. And showcase the golf course, but the

Speaker:

storyline is almost like the. The backdrop. But

Speaker:

then you could do, like, I don't know, you shoot

Speaker:

like a nine. Nine tier. Nine, uh, nine episodes or

Speaker:

something like that. So if anyone out there, don't

Speaker:

steal it, because I'll find you and I'll cut your

Speaker:

toes.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Off. Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: But. Yeah, that's so, you know, the wheels are

Speaker:

always.

Speaker:

>> RB: Turning. That'd be a. I'll tell.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You. Um, I'd like to see.

Speaker:

>> RB: That. I got something. We went on this golf trip

Speaker:

together, and we. We all walked away with, um, a

Speaker:

cowboy.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Boot. That's the boot. There's the.

Speaker:

>> RB: Boot. This. This boot right here. Hey.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Girl. Hey.

Speaker:

>> RB: Girl. She's meant. She's meant for dancing. Um,

Speaker:

but that might have been one of the funniest. This

Speaker:

boot is one of the fun. I don't know if people

Speaker:

would necessarily find it as funny as we.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Found it, but it was so funny that. That was a.

Speaker:

That was a trip full of.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Curveballs. I mean, first of all, you know, we're

Speaker:

going to this event, and I didn't know what the

Speaker:

hell the event was about. I mean, we knew what it

Speaker:

was about, but I didn't know it was off this

Speaker:

property. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Meanwhile, TK Is

Speaker:

coming on his first golf trip with us, and. And

Speaker:

he's getting in the shuttle van, driving with us,

Speaker:

like, where the hell am I going? Walks right into

Speaker:

the front door, and the auctioneers. You.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Taylor? Yeah, I got.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Bamboozled. I, uh, I love your show, and you're my

Speaker:

favorite. Hey, by the way, can you come up and do

Speaker:

a little speech tonight and give us. And I'm,

Speaker:

like, mortified. I'm like, are you kidding me?

Speaker:

Like, pep. Like, he's Like, I didn't know. And I'm

Speaker:

like, oh, I didn't know either. So, anyways, I

Speaker:

felt a little bad for you.

Speaker:

>> RB: But. Because I didn't want you with.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Grace. No, uh, you did.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It. Yeah. Well, you did what.

Speaker:

>> RB: You. And. And the college family is. They're an

Speaker:

amazing family. They are for a good cause. So.

Speaker:

That was.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Amazing. I have a helmet for that. For, uh, Chris

Speaker:

and the family that I've been mean to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Send.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Because.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Uh, they were. He was gracious that. That

Speaker:

place was amazing. It was the whole.

Speaker:

>> RB: Trip. This boot went up for auction. And, I mean,

Speaker:

at that point, I probably had about 16 beers.

Speaker:

Like, our table was full of beers consumed by, you

Speaker:

know, oats. Me, Vince, Brandon, and you, Bash. And

Speaker:

this boot goes up for auction, and I hear TK Wins

Speaker:

it. He's Sean Combs.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Boys. And I said, look at this Diddy.

Speaker:

>> RB: Boot. Said, but that's Luke Combs. He's like, oh,

Speaker:

man. Well, we'll take it on golf trips with us. So

Speaker:

here it is. It's back in Chicago. I documented its

Speaker:

travel this.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Morning. That's.

Speaker:

>> RB: Great. Um, and then we're going to let Vince take

Speaker:

it, uh, with the Rangers team, uh.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Tonight. They're going to drink out of.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It. That thing needs a. I don't know. What can we

Speaker:

do in a buddy. It was maybe, you know, there's,

Speaker:

like, gnomes in the.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yard.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Like.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. You hear about kids stealing.

Speaker:

>> RB: Them.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. And then they take them for, like, a year,

Speaker:

and they take them everywhere, and they take

Speaker:

pictures with them, whatever. And then they return

Speaker:

it with, uh, like, a envelope of the.

Speaker:

>> RB: Pictures. I.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Didn'T. Never heard that.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: One. It's a silly, gimmicky thing that. I don't

Speaker:

know. Kids with too much. We should be doing.

Speaker:

That's the boot. Like, the boot needs to have a

Speaker:

life of its own. It's gonna go to. It's gonna be a

Speaker:

phenomenon in hockey. It needs to go everywhere.

Speaker:

>> RB: Everywhere. Yeah, but that's the.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Thing. Like, I like.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: That. It's like.

Speaker:

>> RB: Should. Should everyone sign it? Like, what,

Speaker:

Leave. Uh, it.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Go. Well, I think it'll.

Speaker:

>> RB: Evolve. Drink out of.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It. You get it. You get, like, a little stitched.

Speaker:

You know, you do stuff in the side. You could. I

Speaker:

don't know, you could put.

Speaker:

>> RB: It. You're very. That's the other thing about you,

Speaker:

that you're very creative. Uh, you have a very

Speaker:

creative mind, which I was actually going to tell

Speaker:

you. I didn't even tell you this, Bash, but it

Speaker:

would have been great to have the tattoo equipment

Speaker:

here and give me a little.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Tattoo. I would do that. I've given. I've, I've

Speaker:

two tattoo guns. Yeah, I don't know where they.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Are. I'm gonna have to set you.

Speaker:

>> RB: Up. Uh, I would, I would with a little. Yeah, I

Speaker:

was thinking about getting one on my finger right.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Here. I mean, he. Taylor. For people that don't

Speaker:

realize Taylor, his artistic ability, I mean, it

Speaker:

is. Every time you see him in.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: A pair of shoes, I.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Doodle. He's.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Doodling. So these are. And these are

Speaker:

Thanksgiving.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Gobbler. Gobble gobblers. And what else? I don't

Speaker:

know. It's like.

Speaker:

>> RB: Um. But the ones you did for me.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Nine. Uh, yeah. And I have a pair. I have a pair

Speaker:

for basketball too. But yeah, like, I just. I

Speaker:

don't know. I get a kick out of.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It. Yeah. But.

Speaker:

>> RB: It'S. It's cool. It's cool and it's.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Cool. I have like 20. I had maybe 30 pair, but

Speaker:

like, a lot of them, they'll be from like a golf

Speaker:

trip or if I, you know, play a different track. So

Speaker:

I'll like, I'll, uh, either do like, score front,

Speaker:

back or whatever, but it's a keepsake. So I have

Speaker:

stuff from like, the member guests in

Speaker:

Pennsylvania. I have like a horse and buggy on the

Speaker:

side, uh, on the side of, uh, these, like, foot

Speaker:

joys. But, like, I'll just keep them. And it's

Speaker:

like a. That's my little. This is, I don't know,

Speaker:

something I get a kick out.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Of. Well, on a golf bag. I remember after we

Speaker:

played one day, I was talking to Pep and I was

Speaker:

like, dude, the most ingenious or genius thing is

Speaker:

Taylor's golf bags. Everywhere he plays or

Speaker:

whatever he writes on his bag, you know, whatever

Speaker:

you write the.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Course. I don't know if it's because it.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Started. That's a.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Great. Like, on the walls. When I was a kid, like,

Speaker:

uh, I had a bunk bed. My younger brother. And then

Speaker:

the, like the. It's like an A frame and I was the.

Speaker:

The top. So I, I never slept great. But I draw on

Speaker:

the ceiling. And then I started getting, um, like,

Speaker:

you know, mom's like, you need to chill. So then

Speaker:

I'd use like a canvas. But when I got places, I

Speaker:

still do. Like, I couldn't wait to be a grown up

Speaker:

when I was a kid, I was like, I'm gonna do that. I

Speaker:

do that. Like, but, you know, I've tamed it down.

Speaker:

But for a while there, uh, My place here in

Speaker:

Chicago or Old Place, when I was a young bachelor.

Speaker:

I mean, it was just covered, like, I. I just

Speaker:

tagged the wall. It was.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Everywhere. But it was with a Sharpie.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Or. Uh, yeah, I'd get spray paint. I had to stay

Speaker:

away from the acrylics. But, yeah, like, I do

Speaker:

Sharpie, so I get, like, now I just order them,

Speaker:

and I put, like, you know, like, skunkly or what.

Speaker:

So I have, like, hundreds of my own Sharpies,

Speaker:

like, different names on the side, but I just like

Speaker:

it. And then. And I just happen to, like, tag

Speaker:

stuff, but I stay away from walls. I used to do a.

Speaker:

>> RB: Lot. Yeah, so that's cool, though, like, your

Speaker:

creative mind. And then again, like, when you're

Speaker:

tattooing, like yourself, does it, uh. Do you even

Speaker:

care about the outcome of the.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Tattoo? I have a. I have. I have a lot of tattoo.

Speaker:

A lot of bad tattoos, but a lot. A lot of them

Speaker:

I've done on my. I've done my own, but I have. I

Speaker:

have one, uh, on my leg that a buddy did. We did.

Speaker:

I did a Jesse, uh, Spencer. Uh, he was a castmate

Speaker:

for 10, 11 seasons. And, uh, he was taking. He was

Speaker:

taking off the next season. So I was like, we're

Speaker:

doing a Vegas trip. And so I rented. I rented a

Speaker:

plane, uh, and it was like 10 of us. So we go to

Speaker:

Vegas, whatever, and we're on the plane in the

Speaker:

middle, like, you know, we had our own thing. So I

Speaker:

bring a tattoo gun. So while we're, you know,

Speaker:

30,000ft, he's tattooing me. And there's ink

Speaker:

everywhere. And it says. It says. It says. It was

Speaker:

supposed to say keep. Keep, uh, swinging, like,

Speaker:

for the. You know what I mean? Like, yeah, keep

Speaker:

swimming down here. And then I have another one

Speaker:

where it's like a friend I had do a. I go just do

Speaker:

us. Do a portrait of this. Of my other buddy, my

Speaker:

buddy Rob. And it was. It was terrible. It was

Speaker:

awful. I go, tattoo it on me. And so I have that,

Speaker:

and it looks. It's just absurd. It's ridiculous.

Speaker:

But there's, you know, so I.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Think. And you left.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Them. Yeah, totally. Well, they're.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: They're. They're.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Keepsake. Yeah, I mean, I'm not doing it, you

Speaker:

know, I mean, it's time and place, uh, like, when

Speaker:

inspiration hits, you.

Speaker:

>> RB: Know? Yeah, I think.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: That. That's. That's.

Speaker:

>> RB: Right. You come to the two man this year. Bring

Speaker:

the. The tattoo guns. I'm going to tattoo on Bash,

Speaker:

and he's in a tattoo on Me? Yeah. Ah, I think that

Speaker:

that's. We should do.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: That. I don't want you touching me with a, uh,

Speaker:

tattoo.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Gun. And they're always.

Speaker:

>> RB: Great. You don't.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Want. They're always good. You're always going to

Speaker:

be.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Great.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. And even the shittier the better, too,

Speaker:

because you, like, someone would be like, what is

Speaker:

that? Yeah, like, I would.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Probably. Got.

Speaker:

>> RB: Me. I would probably be like, all right, you, uh,

Speaker:

can, like. I would go lower back right here. Like,

Speaker:

right.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Here. You want a tramp.

Speaker:

>> RB: Stamp? Well, not a tramp stamp. It's like a side.

Speaker:

It's like a side. But I don't want to have to see

Speaker:

it. Like, I would forget it was there. That's why

Speaker:

I would put it like ass.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Cheek. You want a landing zone on your.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Back. That's what he said. It's.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Funny. Um, yeah, we should. We could. We could

Speaker:

make that bet. I mean, I've been itching for a new

Speaker:

one.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Actually. That should be a. That you guys should

Speaker:

have a season, like a season long bet. Like, uh,

Speaker:

something that takes a couple months. Like, for

Speaker:

tattoo. Whoever, you know, lowest score under like

Speaker:

10 rounds. Whoever, uh, has, you know, the other

Speaker:

person has to get a tattoo by the other.

Speaker:

>> RB: Person. I mean, if you're in. I'm in. Gen 1's

Speaker:

right around the corner.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Bud. I might.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Be. I. I had this one. You went on this that I

Speaker:

thought was gonna wash off or whatever, like after

Speaker:

a while because it's on your hand, but it didn't.

Speaker:

That's almost 20 years. That's. That's from a

Speaker:

bocce ball game. A loss in San Diego. So I was

Speaker:

like, it was either this because the other team

Speaker:

was gonna got to pick it and we had to pay for it.

Speaker:

And then it was supposed to be like a dolphin

Speaker:

corner. Kisses. I was like, I'm not doing that.

Speaker:

It's like a, uh, dolphin with a unicorn horn and

Speaker:

thing jumping over it was something absurd. I was

Speaker:

like, I'm not doing.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: That. I mean, whenever these things transpired.

Speaker:

Because you're sober now. Like, you don't drink.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Now. Nice. Yeah. Uh, three. Three years or.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Something. Three.

Speaker:

>> RB: Years. That's.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Good. Yeah, that's.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Great.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. But back.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Then. Oh, it.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Was. This was.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Nothing. Like, I have a tattoo gun in my backpack.

Speaker:

Yeah. So.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: They. Yeah, a couple cold wines and.

Speaker:

>> RB: That'D be sick right now. He'd be doing.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It. Oh, man. And wait, wait. The photography, too.

Speaker:

See, again, you're just not an actor. I mean, you.

Speaker:

You encompass all of art. No, West Virginia should

Speaker:

be.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Proud. Yeah, I, Yeah, both you guys, I think, did

Speaker:

you.

Speaker:

>> RB: Get. Yeah. Well, calls me, he says, hey, I got a

Speaker:

picture here for you. And he's like, well, I gotta

Speaker:

drive it up in a truck. I didn't know how big it.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Was.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: The. It's the coolest.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Thing. It is the, like, it stokes me out. And if

Speaker:

people. You know what I mean? It's like, um, like

Speaker:

if you, if you dig it, you dig it. If you don't,

Speaker:

that's okay too. But it's like, I love it. Like,

Speaker:

I. It's something I've always enjoyed. I like

Speaker:

shooting black and white. Um, and I like film. And

Speaker:

the size is important just because I, uh, shoot

Speaker:

with a medium format camera and that's. That's as

Speaker:

big as I can get the photo without losing

Speaker:

resolution. So on a digital camera, the. I mean,

Speaker:

anything pixelated is squares if you bring it

Speaker:

down. So it's always going to have a bit of a. A

Speaker:

blockiness to it. And with film, it's. It's

Speaker:

circles, so there's a softness. And I just, I've.

Speaker:

I always like big film.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Photographs.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Photographs. And so, yeah, I walk around with

Speaker:

that. And then I'll take it to a lot of, like, a

Speaker:

lot of times that I'm out golfing. So I'll take

Speaker:

like landscape stuff or I'll give it to a club.

Speaker:

Like, I did it here in Chicago. I gave, uh, you

Speaker:

know, like, I'll frame them. It just takes time.

Speaker:

It's like something I enjoy doing. And then like,

Speaker:

I'll gift it to the club. That's so cool. The

Speaker:

Harvest and then my home track in Lancaster, they.

Speaker:

They hung one up.

Speaker:

>> RB: So. Well, I do need the. The one you sent of the

Speaker:

number the second hole at Sage Valley. I. I'm

Speaker:

gonna need that in like a 16 by 20. I'll.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Pay. I can do.

Speaker:

>> RB: That. I'll pay you for your time and all this

Speaker:

stuff. Yeah, no, that picture you texted me is so

Speaker:

cool because of the coloring. It's almost like

Speaker:

it's from the.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: 1970S.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah. That is so.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Red. That is a color, uh.

Speaker:

>> RB: Photograph.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yes. Yeah. So I have to go through the nags.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: And. Yeah, I think he needs to meet Gentry and he

Speaker:

needs to launch a shoe.

Speaker:

>> RB: Line.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. And. And with all his doodles. And then. And

Speaker:

they'll sell because it's his.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Name. I would do. I.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Would go with iced tea or what's the guy's name?

Speaker:

Uh, Ice Cube. Iced.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Tea. Yeah. No. Ice Tea. Uh, no, we went in on a.

Speaker:

With another buddy, uh, with A dispensary. Oh, uh,

Speaker:

that's ah, outside of New York. Well, it's in

Speaker:

Jersey. It's called the Medicine Woman. It's right

Speaker:

in like Hoboken. But yeah, ice was in that. So I

Speaker:

have a buddy that I met I don't know years ago,

Speaker:

but him and his wife have a dispensary, uh, or you

Speaker:

know, the shop in Laguna. And then they were

Speaker:

opening one in New York and I, I was like, yeah,

Speaker:

yeah, I'll go in. So put, you know, we went in

Speaker:

together and then he's boys with ice and then

Speaker:

we're at stuff. So now I see ice and we're busy

Speaker:

together doing that. Uh, so that's kind of rad. It

Speaker:

is. If you're outside, you're outside this, the

Speaker:

outskirts of the of New York City and you want to

Speaker:

get stoned, uh, stop by the Medicine.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Woman. What a.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Name. Some good stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And their

Speaker:

swag is nice too. The T shirts, hoodies, all.

Speaker:

>> RB: That. So maybe he'll stop on there. I tend to

Speaker:

travel with a pen with me m right now. So that's

Speaker:

what he said today. Like I was getting chirped.

Speaker:

Number.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: One. I wasn't chirping.

Speaker:

>> RB: You. I was just saying you chirped me. Because I

Speaker:

did. I did one of the stupidest things in my ever,

Speaker:

ever in my.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Life. At least since.

Speaker:

>> RB: October. So long story short guys, I, I was

Speaker:

scratching, clawing to get my to gold on Delta,

Speaker:

which I don't even think would get you anything,

Speaker:

but I just needed to get to that next level. And I

Speaker:

had, I needed 78 more dollars to get to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: That. Oh, it's not.

Speaker:

>> RB: Miles. No, to that level. So this flight I booked

Speaker:

was a hundred and fifteen dollars. But instead of

Speaker:

taking a direct flight like a normal human being

Speaker:

would do in the.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Winter, are you, are you doing layers to get.

Speaker:

>> RB: There? I went to Detroit. Yeah, this land in

Speaker:

Detroit this morning. And I'm like, oh no, it is

Speaker:

dumping snow in Detroit. I sent him a photo. He's

Speaker:

like, this may be the dumbest thing you've ever

Speaker:

done, ever. So then I go, I finally land in

Speaker:

Chicago. I had to wait for him because he's taking

Speaker:

a uh, um, prop plane from Morgantown, West

Speaker:

Virginia to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Here. I'm took a direct flight and, and Morgan

Speaker:

down to.

Speaker:

>> RB: Chicago. And I knew he was getting in later. I

Speaker:

didn't realize it was that much later. I'm not

Speaker:

exaggerating you. I drove around the circle of the

Speaker:

terminals 37 times just wasting time because what

Speaker:

am I gonna do sitting a lot and scroll my phone.

Speaker:

So finally I took a little breather. Well the one

Speaker:

breather I took it at o'. Hare. A tow truck pulled

Speaker:

up in front of me. I'm like dude, you can tow

Speaker:

this. It's a rental car. It's probably easier if

Speaker:

you tow this thing right back. They do not mess

Speaker:

around there. It's one minute. Let's go. Keep it

Speaker:

moving. So I just kept driving around, driving

Speaker:

around. So that was my day this morning. Started

Speaker:

at.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: 3:15. But he knew that I told him I was gonna be

Speaker:

an hour.

Speaker:

>> RB: Later. It's my but I'm a gold member now. Hey, we

Speaker:

found out in the car. We got the news in the car

Speaker:

that I'm a gold member.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Now. What comes with that? What do you get with.

Speaker:

>> RB: That? I don't think anything. I think I get like

Speaker:

one.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Free upgrade a year when it probably resets

Speaker:

January 1st. Yeah. Gold member next 12 days. Uh

Speaker:

oh.

Speaker:

>> RB: Nice. It carries over. That's the point. I'm

Speaker:

working. I'm chipping away at something here. I

Speaker:

don't need you just it.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Back in the day to. To get cross country flights

Speaker:

or what have you. I don't think you can do it

Speaker:

anymore. But you know how like you go down, you

Speaker:

look for to book a ticket and then as you go down

Speaker:

down they get incrementally cheaper. If that first

Speaker:

stops.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Layovers.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. So to get from LA to Philly my younger

Speaker:

brother was good at this. He'd find. So you'd find

Speaker:

a flight from like LA to Miami but that was

Speaker:

stopping in like Portland and then San Antonio and

Speaker:

then New York and then Miami. But so you find one

Speaker:

that crosses a city that that you want to hop off.

Speaker:

So you just take a carry on and then you book that

Speaker:

which is like it's super cheap because it's big

Speaker:

bang all over and you hop out at the destination.

Speaker:

So we used to do that just because we were broke

Speaker:

and it was a little like glitch in the system. So

Speaker:

I get this flight one year to get back to Philly.

Speaker:

That's how layover in. In Portland and same it got

Speaker:

snowed and I got stuck there for a week and a

Speaker:

half. I think what I had no money and I was like I

Speaker:

had to call. I had to call my mom's and she

Speaker:

Western Union meat money and I still couldn't get

Speaker:

a flight. I'm hanging out with like the homeless

Speaker:

guys underneath the bridge there's. I'd go to the

Speaker:

library. I stayed a little place called the Doug

Speaker:

Fir. And they had a great little venue, but I. I

Speaker:

had to spend the money to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Get.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: I. It was a mess. So you got to be careful. If I

Speaker:

had. I had the Gold. My Gold membership, then you

Speaker:

would have been all right. But. Yeah, I don't.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Know. I don't know.

Speaker:

>> RB: Man. I don't.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Know. He did it. But, Yeah. I don't know if. Can

Speaker:

you do that.

Speaker:

>> RB: Now? Can you.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Hop? Well, the problem is you can't. You gotta

Speaker:

have carry.

Speaker:

>> RB: Ons.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Or check bags. You don't. Yeah. You don't

Speaker:

check a bag.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. You don't check a.

Speaker:

>> RB: Bag. Yeah. It's just all carry.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Ons.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. I don't know the place.

Speaker:

>> RB: Nowadays. Uh, yeah, because then you got to get

Speaker:

out. You gotta have a flat flight to get in. Like,

Speaker:

it's just. It's wild.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Security. So I always. Always book one.

Speaker:

>> RB: Way. I always book one way.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Too. It's great in here. This is the first time in

Speaker:

this Oakbrook.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Facility. This place is.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Nice. And I didn't even know TK.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Was here when we showed.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Up. I was mosying around, and I hear that someone

Speaker:

hitting a golf ball. I look in, and there he.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Is.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Swinging. Gotta hit the Sims. Love.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It. No, I have some of their wedges and, um, iron.

Speaker:

So it was a year ago. I came in messing around

Speaker:

because a buddy I play with has a really nice

Speaker:

putter. I was like, yeah, maybe. Maybe I'll

Speaker:

splurge. I'll go check it out. And they've been

Speaker:

nothing but, you know, awesome to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Me.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. And I'm like, I'll look at a putter. So in

Speaker:

the meantime, I was like, uh, oh, there's wedges

Speaker:

on. So then I'm ordering wedges, then I'm getting

Speaker:

irons. And it's. Yeah, it's like a. This is like a

Speaker:

little miniature Disney, uh, for.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Golf. Yeah. I mean, you come up here and it's

Speaker:

like, you get whatever you want. You pick out all

Speaker:

the finishes, all the colors, stamping the neck. I

Speaker:

mean, honestly, to the point where you don't know

Speaker:

if you're even getting what you need. You're just

Speaker:

getting what you kind of want because you're going

Speaker:

on looks. But that putter I was messing with, that

Speaker:

zero, uh, torque. Yeah, it's. She's pretty.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Nice. Scoop.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It. Might have to.

Speaker:

>> RB: Scoop. Well, just buy one, get one.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: So. But, man, it's been awesome chopping it up

Speaker:

here with.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You. Yeah. No, I'm glad we did this, uh, finally.

Speaker:

Yeah, I'm glad we have a Key. We have.

Speaker:

>> RB: Something.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: This. This thing will. This thing will travel. I

Speaker:

think it'll. It'll. Over the years, it'll screw

Speaker:

some.

Speaker:

>> RB: Stories. I feel like I should dip it in, like.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Gold. Yeah, I was saying have it.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Bronzed.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah. Yeah. We should bronze.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: This. Yeah, you got a light bronze, but then you.

Speaker:

And then you could, uh. I wonder if we could

Speaker:

tattoo.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: It. I mean, it's skin.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Right? Yeah. Leather. That's how you practice on

Speaker:

pig.

Speaker:

>> RB: Skin. Tattoo a cowboy boot on.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Bash. Right. Right on his leg. Right.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Here. Yeah, down on my calf.

Speaker:

>> RB: Good.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: So. All right, we're going to turn it into the

Speaker:

last segment, which is presented by Betnardi Golf.

Speaker:

Check them out online dot com. Funny enough, we

Speaker:

are here, but you know the drill. Pep's going to

Speaker:

ask you some questions here that demand your quick

Speaker:

response or not. Quick.

Speaker:

>> RB: Response.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. We don't know.

Speaker:

>> RB: Time. What is one thing fans would never know

Speaker:

about.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You? Well, I. If, If I told them, then they'd

Speaker:

know. Then they know. We can't do that. All right,

Speaker:

that's a good one. What I think is something,

Speaker:

though. I'll let you.

Speaker:

>> RB: Know. All right, you let us know. You get back to

Speaker:

that one. You kind of already answered this, but

Speaker:

do you think you could put out a fire in real.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Life? I have another story about that. So I was

Speaker:

doing a show, Trauma, in San Francisco, and I'm

Speaker:

playing a paramedic, so in the same vein. And I

Speaker:

had this, uh, from that first job that I shot in

Speaker:

San Diego, uh, right before the housing market

Speaker:

crashed, we had this little cottage, uh, and we

Speaker:

were paying. I don't know. It wasn't. It wasn't

Speaker:

terribly. It wasn't a lot. It was just three of

Speaker:

us. And the landlord's like, if you guys stay, if

Speaker:

you stay for a year, I'll cut the rent in half. So

Speaker:

then we were paying. I paid 500 bucks a month for

Speaker:

my little room for. Ended up being years until he,

Speaker:

like, tore it down and built. But the place was

Speaker:

magic. And so I'm staying there and we're

Speaker:

watching, uh, like, surfer dude or something in my

Speaker:

buddy's room, which is like over the. That butts

Speaker:

up to the alley. It's a single story, like, 1940s

Speaker:

cottage just made of, like, cedar. And this. This,

Speaker:

like, homeless guy, vagrant, back alley vagrants

Speaker:

banging on the window. He's like, your house is on

Speaker:

fire. Your house is on fire. And there's like 10

Speaker:

of us in the back room. And I go up and I'm like,

Speaker:

no, no, no. Uh, we're good, man. Just on your way.

Speaker:

I go back down. I don't know, some crazy guy out

Speaker:

there, and he keeps banging. Like, he go back your

Speaker:

house somewhere. I'm like, dude, what the fuck? So

Speaker:

I go out, I go to the street, and the house is on.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Fire.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: No. So I run back in. I'm like, guys, I have

Speaker:

something. And then everyone. They do the same

Speaker:

thing. What the fuck? Then they run out. They're

Speaker:

like, oh, shit, that was on fire. So you like,

Speaker:

your.

Speaker:

>> RB: Head.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Your. Your head doesn't work like you think it

Speaker:

would during. You know when. So we're running

Speaker:

into. It's that close. It's. It's. It's like a

Speaker:

buddy later is like, I saw from 15 miles away up

Speaker:

Mission app, like. Like, it torched half the

Speaker:

house. But I go out, I grabbed a phone charger of,

Speaker:

uh. Uh, my buddy grabbed an amp. Like, you don't

Speaker:

know. I grabbed nothing of value. It was just

Speaker:

scurrying. And then I'm out. And we're standing

Speaker:

there while it's burning down. And there was one

Speaker:

guy in.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: A wet suit while it was burning.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Down. His wetsuit was, like, around his waist,

Speaker:

tied down. And he's on my neighbor's roof with a

Speaker:

hose, and he's just squirting it the fire. So

Speaker:

anyway, fire department comes, they ruin the whole

Speaker:

backside. It gets split out. And later, my buddies

Speaker:

are like, hey, man, you were on that show. You're

Speaker:

the parent. Like, you're the first responder. You

Speaker:

didn't do shit. I was like, what was I gonna do?

Speaker:

But no, it's, uh. No, I have the utmost respect

Speaker:

for, uh, firefighters. And that was the big thing

Speaker:

when I started was like, I want to. Like, that's

Speaker:

the litmus test of being able to walk by a

Speaker:

firehouse. And if I don't get roasted, you know,

Speaker:

then, uh, I can. I can hold my head.

Speaker:

>> RB: High.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Cool. And that was a big thing. So I don't know if

Speaker:

I could put out a fire. I sure have more tools

Speaker:

than. Than.

Speaker:

>> RB: Not. Right? But, yeah, you stand a better chance

Speaker:

of me or him possibly. Um, yeah. Dream foursome,

Speaker:

dead or.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Alive. Oh, uh, just my pop and my brothers, I

Speaker:

think. You know, my pop passed away, I don't know,

Speaker:

seven years ago or, you know, six years ago. Uh,

Speaker:

and I, uh. My. It would just be cool to play with

Speaker:

one of my.

Speaker:

>> RB: Brothers. Yeah, that'd be all right. Who would

Speaker:

play you in a movie about your.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Life? Oh, wow. Am I that.

Speaker:

>> RB: Old? I mean, or you have that good of a career so

Speaker:

far that somebody's gonna make a movie about you.

Speaker:

Who would you want to play that.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Role? Macho man. Randy Savage, I think it would

Speaker:

be. Oh, brother. Yeah, like a little spice, but,

Speaker:

like, just to just play it straight. Uh, God rest

Speaker:

his soul, but, man, that guy was amazing. Yeah. I

Speaker:

like me some macho.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Man. I love the old wvf back in the.

Speaker:

>> RB: Day. Do you have more nerves hitting a tee shot in

Speaker:

front of 100 people or in an.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Audition? Uh, I don't know. That's. That's a good

Speaker:

one. I don't know. It's. It. I do. Like, I. I

Speaker:

love. I love the first tea thing because you.

Speaker:

>> RB: You.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Like. I'll.

Speaker:

>> RB: Do. Like, there's some.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Jitters. Yeah. But I'll get up and do it. Fine.

Speaker:

Uh, but it's. It's. It. You never know when it. It

Speaker:

wants to pop up. Yeah, but I think with, like,

Speaker:

auditioning, it's like, it's wild because it. It

Speaker:

can't not.

Speaker:

>> RB: Be.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Like, it has to stem from, like, it's

Speaker:

something that you want. Right. Because otherwise,

Speaker:

if it wouldn't exist, like, you wouldn't. You

Speaker:

know, you wouldn't have this feeling, care. And,

Speaker:

uh, so. And there. And there has to be something.

Speaker:

Like, I can't do my job without an audience. And

Speaker:

so it's like the observable thing. It's like a

Speaker:

quantum.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Thing.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. I think the more eyes on you, it's like the

Speaker:

observation thing. It's like you have to have be

Speaker:

honed in more. It's like my big thing is, uh, it's

Speaker:

the setting. So, uh, auditioning. I don't know if

Speaker:

it's something I really wanted. I'd probably be a

Speaker:

little antsy, but then I'd prepare accordingly.

Speaker:

But there's something that, like, I love these,

Speaker:

like, the YouTube clips of people getting, like,

Speaker:

they're at, like, uh, some charity thing, and they

Speaker:

line up like they do. Like they're at a PGA event,

Speaker:

and then they get, like, someone beelines it into

Speaker:

their. You see the one where the skull. They tee

Speaker:

off and it hits. Some lady goes to the ground, and

Speaker:

then they hit it again. It hits her again. She

Speaker:

goes, make it.

Speaker:

>> RB: Stop.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Stop. I wouldn't. I don't think I would do that.

Speaker:

Like, you know, like the first tea at.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Augusta.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Right. Like, I'm. I'm baffled. Like, I was

Speaker:

telling, uh, telling John, I two years ago, went

Speaker:

for a Saturday, and I'm. I'm down. Like, I'm not

Speaker:

going to neck for the. I'm not Trying to get

Speaker:

close. Like, it'd be cool to see someone in the

Speaker:

tee box from a vantage point that's respectful of

Speaker:

what they're doing. But the people that are

Speaker:

leaning over in, like, the 50ft away from what

Speaker:

could be a shot in the head. I. I that baffled.

Speaker:

Like, I wouldn't be on the tee box comfortable

Speaker:

doing that. Like, hey, here's a bunch of pros,

Speaker:

and, hey, here's some actor guy tee off. I'm not

Speaker:

doing it because I know I'm gonna hit someone

Speaker:

right in the.

Speaker:

>> RB: Head.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. And I don't know how these other people are

Speaker:

so cool with just. It's a. It's a weird.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Thing. It.

Speaker:

>> RB: Is. Like, they love it. Like, if they get hit,

Speaker:

they're like an.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Autograph.

Speaker:

>> RB: Just.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Just. Even if someone's, like, in the weeds a

Speaker:

little bit. Like, well, the writer comes to

Speaker:

happen. Yeah. But, like, they're like, oh, I found

Speaker:

your ball. And then you. Then like, a hundred

Speaker:

people just. And then you're trying to do, like,

Speaker:

it's. It's almost. It's almost. It almost paints

Speaker:

the picture as an imposition to the pro to ask the

Speaker:

people to move right when you're.

Speaker:

>> RB: Like.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Because your trust is they're not gonna hit.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You. But, uh, that. That, to me, baffled. Like,

Speaker:

that's a testament to the guys that are m. Being

Speaker:

locked in, because. You know what I.

Speaker:

>> RB: Mean?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Like, you know when you're playing.

Speaker:

>> RB: Well.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Like, you have kind.

Speaker:

>> RB: Of. You don't see other.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Things. Yeah. You're like, you're. You're

Speaker:

targeting whatever, but, like, imagine. But you

Speaker:

would if. If 10 people walked.

Speaker:

>> RB: Up.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. Yeah. But the pros is like, uh, you're just.

Speaker:

You could be a tree frog, you.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Know?

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. But I just don't get how people do that. So

Speaker:

I think on a tee box with a lot of people, I

Speaker:

would. I would tee off with a.

Speaker:

>> RB: Disclaimer. Sign this waiver, please. All right,

Speaker:

last question. What are you.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Chasing? Just. I want to evolve, as in life, just

Speaker:

as a human, from. You learn from mistakes and what

Speaker:

have you. So I think I'm chasing just the

Speaker:

betterment. Yeah. And that's subjective, but,

Speaker:

yeah. I think to grow as a human, it'd be cool to.

Speaker:

To be alive to see some wild stuff in this.

Speaker:

>> RB: World. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, my deep. This was.

Speaker:

This.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Was.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah. Thank you so.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Much.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yeah. Taylor.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Kenny.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Yeah. TK man, it's always awesome. I literally,

Speaker:

man, like, we were really. Every time we're

Speaker:

together, I mean, I couldn't.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Uh. But you recently are a gold. Gold.

Speaker:

>> RB: Member. So I'll catch you next year. And when you

Speaker:

see me on, uh, when I'm, uh, boarding two

Speaker:

position, we'll see who's laughing, boys. So we'll

Speaker:

see at the next golf.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Trip. Does it. Does it translate into.

Speaker:

>> RB: Southwest? Okay.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Easy.

Speaker:

>> RB: He's. Yeah, he's already a list.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Southwest. Yeah. Does the pilot read your name off

Speaker:

before the.

Speaker:

>> RB: Flight? We want to welcome Jonathan Pepe. Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah, yeah. So, T.K. thanks. See you in the next

Speaker:

golf tour.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Guys. It was awesome. Thank.

Speaker:

>> RB: You. That was an awesome episode with Taylor.

Speaker:

Incredible. You know, just his stories from

Speaker:

waiting tables when he thought he would have a

Speaker:

show. Like, that industry is so competitive, and

Speaker:

to be able to carve your own little niche out like

Speaker:

he has done with Chicago Fire is. That's awesome.

Speaker:

And it couldn't happen to a better guy. So let's

Speaker:

get that out.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: There. It could not have happened to a better

Speaker:

person. And it's. It's 100% accurate. Every.

Speaker:

Everything about him. He's really a quantum is.

Speaker:

And he knows what he's doing. He's in control.

Speaker:

And, uh, that is a big word. I've been reading up

Speaker:

on my words.

Speaker:

>> RB: Lately. So, like, the funniest story, though, that

Speaker:

he told was when they were on set and there was an

Speaker:

actual.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Fire. That.

Speaker:

>> RB: Is. And they're looking at them like, why aren't

Speaker:

you helping us? Well, here, they're. They.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Can'T.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Uh. Could you imagine.

Speaker:

>> RB: Like. Like, you're probably looking. Looking at

Speaker:

these firefighters that you think are

Speaker:

firefighters. Like, why? Like.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Hopeless. Yeah, it's like. It's like thinking, you

Speaker:

know, back in the day in Grey's Anatomy, if you

Speaker:

were out in a restaurant, you saw Patrick Dempsey,

Speaker:

and someone's having a heart attack. Like, bud,

Speaker:

can you come help him? No, you can't. You can't.

Speaker:

Same thing, right? I mean, that's.

Speaker:

>> RB: Funny. And I will. There. There's a funny story

Speaker:

about dk. We went. We went to Sage Valley for my

Speaker:

birthday last year, which. Which was a fabulous

Speaker:

time. And as we mentioned in the intro, as some

Speaker:

people have gotten wind of that video. Um, but,

Speaker:

dude, he is so funny because, like, he came out of

Speaker:

the bathroom. We were all sitting around the fire,

Speaker:

and nobody's saying, like, happy birthday. Not

Speaker:

that it was, like, I didn't even think about it,

Speaker:

honestly. It was just, um. I'm just happy to be

Speaker:

there. And he comes out with an orange. With a

Speaker:

candle sticking out of the orange, singing Happy

Speaker:

birthday to me. And I'm like, man, what a guy. Get

Speaker:

so Creative with an orange. That's my favorite

Speaker:

color. Yeah, like what a.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Guy. You had to be thinking a little bit like, I

Speaker:

mean, I'm sure someone told you happy.

Speaker:

>> RB: Birthday. Oh yeah. But I mean, clearly it's always

Speaker:

nice to have a happy birthday sang to.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You. It's nice when someone takes that initiative

Speaker:

to really make you feel loved.

Speaker:

>> RB: Like that, like that minute, you know, next week

Speaker:

the big fellas coming to everyone's houses. So.

Speaker:

And we. What are you hoping for from the big.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Guy? I know that I needed a new putter cover or

Speaker:

putter grip and I think it got delivered early

Speaker:

this week. So I already got that. I don't need a

Speaker:

damn thing. Yeah, I mean if I sit there and say,

Speaker:

you know, I'm kind of into these coffees. I've

Speaker:

talked about it recently and my coffee maker is

Speaker:

phenomenal. I've had it for seven years and it's

Speaker:

never acted up. But you know, I've read uh, about

Speaker:

some of these coffee machine makers that and I

Speaker:

grind my beans up. So it's not like I'm using a

Speaker:

Keurig or some automated shit like that. But some

Speaker:

of the machines can have, you know, can produce a

Speaker:

better quality drip coffee. And I've been loving

Speaker:

the pour over anytime I can get it. But I'm not

Speaker:

spending that kind of coin on a pour over machine

Speaker:

that they had. So I don't know, I think if, if I

Speaker:

had it, if I was sitting, yeah, if I was sitting

Speaker:

on Santa's lap, I'd say, hey, hook me up with some

Speaker:

good beans and you know, maybe a new maker,

Speaker:

something.

Speaker:

>> RB: Decent like I love that for you. Good for.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: You. Yeah. Simple, right? Like as you get older

Speaker:

it's like that kind of.

Speaker:

>> RB: Stuff.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Right. What about you? Did you ask him for.

Speaker:

>> RB: Anything? Well, Parker had asked him for an orange

Speaker:

Ferrari for.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Me.

Speaker:

>> RB: Oh. So I don't know if that's going to happen. I

Speaker:

don't know. Last, last year Parker asked for an

Speaker:

orange Corvette for me and I got a little one

Speaker:

that's sitting on my desk again. Dude, I don't, I

Speaker:

don't know. I don't know. I don't need much

Speaker:

because like you said, it's like what when you.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Want, um, work hard to get something that you.

Speaker:

>> RB: Want. So I don't know, man. Maybe I'm hoping for

Speaker:

like a new cigar.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Lighter.

Speaker:

>> RB: Yes. Cigar cutter for the.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Bag. See.

Speaker:

>> RB: Simple. Um, I'll tell you what I could use is a,

Speaker:

is a new golf umbrella. So we'll see. But stay

Speaker:

tuned. And um, we want to wish everyone a Merry.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Christmas.

Speaker:

>> RB: Absolutely. We want to wish everyone a happy New

Speaker:

year, healthy new Year, you know, set some goals

Speaker:

for 2026, set them high. Hopefully you achieve all

Speaker:

those and. And keep.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Chasing. Yeah, you got to. That's right. And I'm

Speaker:

gonna tell you guys, Joyce's Jewelry in Uniontown

Speaker:

had a phenomenal Christmas show. A couple weeks

Speaker:

ago. I got the pleasure of walking in through the

Speaker:

doors. I saw Mr. Pepe there waiting on a climb. It

Speaker:

was very nice. I walked up to him and I said, hey.

Speaker:

I said, it's good to see you again, you know, and

Speaker:

he's like, hey, Ryan. Yeah, blah, blah, blah. And

Speaker:

then I walked back over and said something else to

Speaker:

him. And I told his clients, I said, I'm sorry. I

Speaker:

see him once a year at this event. So we went to

Speaker:

high school together back in the day. I don't see

Speaker:

him too often, but, man, the store looked great.

Speaker:

Real talk. You guys had a lot of good.

Speaker:

>> RB: Stuff. Well, you know me. I only. I help out

Speaker:

during that holiday party a lot, um, every year

Speaker:

because they're short staffed and I'm a vendor, so

Speaker:

I fill in and help them out. So it's always good

Speaker:

to see. See you there once a year and see you on.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Here. So, um, yeah, that's that, man. Well, I hope

Speaker:

you all enjoyed today's episode with Taylor

Speaker:

Kenney. Tk man, we. We love you here at Chasing

Speaker:

Birdies, and we can't wait to play some G in 2026.

Speaker:

But with that being said, we do wish y' all a very

Speaker:

merry Christmas. And like Pepe said, a, uh, happy

Speaker:

New Year, Prosperous New Year. I hope you guys hit

Speaker:

your goals. And lastly, we need a big thanks to

Speaker:

our production team at Simpler Media. Ivo, Ali and

Speaker:

Emily for putting this together. And Jacqueline

Speaker:

DiPatero, Rachel London, for all your social media

Speaker:

help. You guys have a very blessed weekend and a

Speaker:

Merry.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Christmas.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Pep. Anything else you want to.

Speaker:

>> RB: Say? Jasonbirdies. And like Ryan said, merry

Speaker:

Christmas. Happy New.

Speaker:

>> Jonathan: Year. Catch y' all in.
