Welcome to the Elevated Edit podcast.

Speaker A

I'm your host, Blakely Ramsey, and the goal of this podcast is to discuss all things personal development, wellness, and the art of editing your life in an elevated way.

Speaker B

Mindset, we're going to sift through the.

Speaker A

Noise and empower you to take elevated action.

Speaker B

Make sure you catch the show notes for all the details.

Speaker B

Enjoy the show.

Speaker B

Hello, hello, hello.

Speaker B

So today's short and sweet episode is going to be a bit of a business update.

Speaker B

I have not touched base with all of you and spoken specifically about behind the scenes in a few months and a lot has changed.

Speaker B

And I just feel like this transparency helped me so much when I was wanting to get started with something new.

Speaker B

Hearing other people literally pull back the curtains and, you know, be completely transparent about what they were feeling, their struggles, their experiences, it helped me so much.

Speaker B

And so I'm hoping to pay it forward with this podcast.

Speaker B

So let's jump right into it.

Speaker B

I launched the Elevated Edit Co back in February and I had a few amazing women come through cohort number one for the Systems Academy.

Speaker B

It was one on one coaching, and I probably learned more than these women in this process, just as far as relaying information in a way that works not just for one learning style, but for multiple learning styles.

Speaker B

And I kind of found my voice in terms of coaching and different things like that.

Speaker B

Now I.

Speaker B

One of the big things that I talk about is having a future vision in mind and knowing what you want your life to look like and what you want your life to feel like and ensuring that all of your decisions are centered around that future focus.

Speaker B

So instead of just doing what feels right in the moment or just doing something because it's a good opportunity, actually taking the time to say, okay, yes, this is a good opportunity, but does this actually help me get closer to that future vision of what I really want?

Speaker B

And one thing I found with the one on one coaching was it's really difficult to nail down a time to sit down with a busy woman for one hour every single week.

Speaker B

And so obviously I am the one who needs to accommodate.

Speaker B

And so every single week, my schedule was looking different and things were coming up at the last minute, understandably.

Speaker B

You know, kids get sick and different things come up and they have businesses to run as well.

Speaker B

And you know, they obviously have to be present for their.

Speaker B

Their business first and foremost.

Speaker B

And so I found myself right back in the same boat of, okay, I don't have the time freedom that I'm wanting, like my life Went straight back to very hectic, very scattered, very all over the place very quickly.

Speaker B

And so I came to the decision a couple of weeks ago that for the foreseeable future, I'm not going to do any more one on one coaching.

Speaker B

It is something that I might come back to at a later time, but just for me personally, what I'm wanting in life right now, it just doesn't align with it.

Speaker B

So with that being said, there have been some really amazing opportunities come my way that I was not expecting at all.

Speaker B

And I will talk about them much more in depth when they are actually nailed down and there's pen to paper and things are finalized.

Speaker B

But the, the main thing that I really got from the last few months is that yes, you need to have that future vision and you need to be very certain about what you want your life to look and feel like.

Speaker B

But once you set that vision and you set that goal, you really do.

Speaker B

And this was something that I was not expecting to have to deal with.

Speaker B

And it's been one of the hardest things for me to experience and get through is at a certain point you have to set your goal and then put your hands up and just be like, okay, I am a servant of the mission.

Speaker B

Tell me what to do next.

Speaker B

And that has been really difficult for me, I think, especially when you're talking about your career, which, yes, money is not everything, but I love working and my career is extremely important to me.

Speaker B

And up until this point in my life, controlling everything was my winning strategy.

Speaker B

It like me micromanaging my life and being, you know, so just like, okay, this has to happen.

Speaker B

Okay, when this happens, that'll happen.

Speaker B

Like, it got me here.

Speaker B

But I'm very quickly realizing that what got me here is not going to get me there.

Speaker B

And so I have had to put my hands up and be very open to pivots and have a very open mind in terms of what my future actually looks like, in terms of what I do every single day.

Speaker B

And I have had to step way outside of my comfort zone, especially the last few weeks, because opportunities just came my way and it was like my body was like, this is exactly what you need to be doing.

Speaker B

This is a for sure yes.

Speaker B

And I'll be super honest, I haven't felt that feeling in a few years of, oh, this feels good, this feels right.

Speaker B

And that didn't come until I put my hands up and said, I'm gonna just do the work, I'm going to do the work that you tell me to do.

Speaker B

And I have Full trust and faith in God.

Speaker B

And, I mean, he's.

Speaker B

He's taking me on a journey, we'll say that.

Speaker B

But it's been really interesting to take a step back and not hold on so tightly to what the way I think things need to be done and the way I think things need to go and to just open my hands and be a lot more present to all the opportunities around me that I might not see if I am just, like, so dead focused on, like, okay, I have to do it this way.

Speaker B

This is the way that I plan to do it, and it has to go exactly this way or else it's a failure.

Speaker B

And so that has been a huge, massive lesson for me and something that I encourage you to think of if you're in a season where you do have big goals and you do have big dreams and you have a.

Speaker B

If you're type A like me, you're like, okay, here is my point A, there is point C, Point B is how I get there.

Speaker B

And, like, that has been so ingrained in me for so long.

Speaker B

And you might feel the same way where you're like, but play clay.

Speaker B

I'm like, I get it.

Speaker B

It's not easy.

Speaker B

It's not fun.

Speaker B

It's really scary to just throw your hands up and say, okay, I'm just gonna do the work and trust you.

Speaker B

But I'm starting to see it pay off.

Speaker B

And, you know, they say that you can't put the dots together until you turn around and look back, and I'm finally seeing, like.

Speaker B

I'm like, oh, that's why that had to happen.

Speaker B

Oh, that's why that little tiny dot had to happen.

Speaker B

And things have started happening a lot faster now that I have released such intense control business.

Speaker B

And honestly, over my life in general, it's shocking to me.

Speaker B

And if you are someone who is excellent at that, it might not be as shocking to you.

Speaker B

But it has been a bit of a shock to my nervous system and to my body and my brain to realize that I don't know everything and I am not the best at everything.

Speaker B

And I know that sounds so conceited, but truly to realize that obviously God has a higher plan, but also listening and trusting people in my life who are a couple steps ahead of me.

Speaker B

And when they tell me something, and I'm like, but.

Speaker B

And they're like, blakely, please just trust me.

Speaker B

And then I do it, and it works out, I'm like, oh, wow.

Speaker B

I don't know anything.

Speaker B

And in fact, the more that I learn, the more That I realize how little I know.

Speaker B

Me and my husband were actually talking about that.

Speaker B

You know, when I was 18, I felt pretty confident that I knew about 95% of everything in the whole world.

Speaker B

And now that I'm 32, I'm like, I think I know, like,.02% of everything that I need to know.

Speaker B

And so it's just so funny how growth teaches you how little that you know.

Speaker B

But it's been really enjoyable to try a new way of working and a new way of growing.

Speaker B

And I'll be transparent, it has been difficult.

Speaker B

I still have days where I struggle with almost an identity crisis because I will wake up and I'll automatically go back to that, control everything.

Speaker B

I have to know exactly what's gonna.

Speaker B

How everything's gonna go.

Speaker B

I have to know how it's gonna work out.

Speaker B

I have to be able to see the path and see the plan.

Speaker B

I still am almost like, it's like natural for me to go back to that.

Speaker B

And so I still have my days where I struggle.

Speaker B

And especially on the days where everything is failing.

Speaker B

Like, you're spending money and you're not seeing anything in return, and you're trying.

Speaker B

You really are trying.

Speaker B

And, you know, especially because social media is such a.

Speaker B

An important part of business.

Speaker B

You post something that you spend so much time working on, it's crickets.

Speaker B

Nobody sees it.

Speaker B

When they do see it, it doesn't convert.

Speaker B

And so if you're in a season where you're just like, blakely, I'm trying and nothing is happening.

Speaker B

I hear you, friend.

Speaker B

I totally get it.

Speaker B

But I do know that resilience and grit are so critically important.

Speaker B

And someone was telling me this yesterday.

Speaker B

They said, you know, failure is really lazy and failure will like, keep trying and keep trying and keep trying.

Speaker B

But if failure sees that you have a certain amount of grit, eventually it's going to be like, okay, I'm going to go try on somebody else who, like, isn't going to put up as much resistance or isn't going to be as disciplined or isn't going to work as hard.

Speaker B

And I loved that.

Speaker B

And I kind of feel like I'm coming out on the other side of this almost year long journey now of failure's just been.

Speaker B

Been hanging out with me.

Speaker B

We've gotten real close.

Speaker B

But I think failure is starting to realize, like, Blakely's not gonna give up.

Speaker B

Like, she's.

Speaker B

I can throw whatever at her and she's gonna keep going.

Speaker B

And so just keep that in mind.

Speaker B

If you are in that season that failure will go away eventually.

Speaker B

Obviously, we'll still come visit you every once in a while, but there will be a valley of despair for a while where it seems like you and failure are like cuddling, hanging out, besties, BFFs for life.

Speaker B

But eventually failure will get bored and will, you know, go hang out with somebody else who has less grit and less resistance than you.

Speaker B

And that's really been the big thing that I have learned over the past couple of months is just the ability to pivot and the ability to let go and trust in whatever, you know, higher power that you believe in.

Speaker B

And yeah, it's been really comforting.

Speaker B

I do have one piece of exciting news for my local ladies.

Speaker B

So one thing that has that I can talk about now because that is signed and official, is I am going to start offering in person small group sessions.

Speaker B

And I haven't quite nailed down exactly what I want these to look like yet, but I am picturing so I have an office space and I am working on the design and decor over the next couple of weeks.

Speaker B

I have a very specific image in mind of what I want it to look like.

Speaker B

But once again, I am being open to allowing the office to design itself.

Speaker B

Which I know sounds kind of weird, but for the last couple of weeks, me stepping back and just kind of being the channel, the source of like the action instead of trying to control everything has worked out of my benefit.

Speaker B

So I'm going to keep going with that.

Speaker B

But my vision is instead of like girls night out, you get crazy drunk, you have some regret the next morning, you know, it's just, it's like, okay, I wasted money, I wasted calories, I didn't really get a lot out of that.

Speaker B

Having like a girls night out or even like a brunch situation where we sit down, we've have some espresso, we have some girl talk, and then we maybe plan out our week or we do like a time block session or we learn like just one little micro thing, like something about time management, something about productivity, something about mindset, something about self awareness.

Speaker B

And we have really good food and really good conversation and it's in a very luxurious and gorgeous setting.

Speaker B

And you just walk away feeling that feeling of community and connectivity.

Speaker B

But also like, oh, I learned a skill today.

Speaker B

Or like I learned something that's going to help my week go better next week or whatever it is.

Speaker B

So for my local ladies, that is what I am picturing.

Speaker B

And of course, if you want to travel to little tiny El Dorado, Arkansas, you're more than welcome to, but I'm really excited about that.

Speaker B

So I just wanted to give everyone an update of where everything was.

Speaker B

The podcast, obviously I'm going to continue to grow.

Speaker B

That is another big part of having this office is I'm going to set up an actual podcast studio and I am going to start putting a little bit more emphasis on the podcast and I'm going to start working on getting some guests.

Speaker B

Now that I'm very clear on what I want the podcast to look like, I am going to launch an evergreen course soon.

Speaker B

That is going to be what the Systems Academy was, but it's going to be on your own time, on your own pace.

Speaker B

It is going to be called the Icon method and I am currently working on that right now.

Speaker B

It is so wonderful and it is definitely something that I wish I had six years ago, three years ago, even a year ago.

Speaker B

It's just fantastic and it is more aligned with what I want my future to look like versus the one on ones that were very heavy and very just, you know, kind of in the weeds.

Speaker B

And this is going to be more of a self led coaching program.

Speaker B

And I think that it might, especially when it comes to this kind of information because this can be very hard to have to change, you know, the way you think about yourself and the way you think about your time and your productivity.

Speaker B

And I am hoping that allowing people to have this kind of self reflective journey with me just in their ear and on their computer screen will be like a nice compromise and a nice in the middle.

Speaker B

And then of course there's some more exciting things coming soon.

Speaker B

But I just wanted to give everyone an update.

Speaker B

I wish that I could like call all of you individually and talk to you and hear updates on your life and all the things.

Speaker B

But yeah, thank you for listening.

Speaker B

This was just a, an update on how things were going and a reminder to be comfortable with pivots when they come because sometimes those pivots that you're called to do and those things that you are being asked to do that might sound uncomfortable and aren't part of the plan that you put in place, sometimes those are the best things at the end of the day.

Speaker B

So I just want to say thank you once again for your continued support on the podcast.

Speaker B

It really is exciting and I've had so many of you reach out recently and tell me that, you know, something I said changed your day or changed your week or changed the way you did something.

Speaker B

And I just really appreciate y'all listening to me.

Speaker B

And yeah, it makes me feel really good.

Speaker B

So just a very heartfelt thank you for that.

Speaker B

But I've got lots of really good exciting things coming out for y'all.

Speaker B

Obviously the podcast is going to hear about everything first.

Speaker B

Y'all are going to get all the behind the scenes.

Speaker B

You're going to get all the goodies before everyone else does.

Speaker B

So I'm always going to continue to thank you first for listening to me every week.

Speaker B

Okay with that, I hope you have an amazing rest of your day and I will see you in the next episode.
