Unknown:

Hey, I'm Paige Killian, founder and CEO of everything

Unknown:

with style.

Unknown:

I've built a business helping busy moms of littles get

Unknown:

organized in three simple steps. Like many of my clients, I love

Unknown:

being a mom. And I also desire more. If you've ever felt that

Unknown:

stirring in your heart, that whisper or really loud voice

Unknown:

that keeps you up at night, then you are in the right place.

Unknown:

Because this is not a solo mission. Whether you're a little

Unknown:

curious or totally ready to be a mom, boss and use your God given

Unknown:

gifts to serve others step into your calling, turn your passions

Unknown:

into purpose, and still make it to the carpool line on time,

Unknown:

then girlfriend, it's time to pivot. I've got you. Now let's

Unknown:

get started.

Unknown:

Hello, there, welcome back to another episode of the time to

Unknown:

pivot podcast, as I have been recording all of these previous

Unknown:

episodes. And I've talked about how we can sometimes feel guilty

Unknown:

about pursuing more in our lives if we already have certain

Unknown:

responsibilities. I've talked about that self doubt that can

Unknown:

creep in. And we may not have the confidence that we need to

Unknown:

move forward. I've talked about fear, fear of failure, fear of

Unknown:

maybe what are people going to think fear of disappointing

Unknown:

somebody fear of what if we don't make it and we just crash

Unknown:

and burn. And we just tried this really hard thing, and it didn't

Unknown:

work out, Oh, my goodness, that's embarrassing. Or maybe

Unknown:

you are, like me, a recovering perfectionist, and you want to

Unknown:

do something so very well. And if we don't have all the details

Unknown:

figured out if we don't have all the information that we need,

Unknown:

sometimes just getting stuck and stopping and not moving into

Unknown:

what may very well be our purpose. Well, I know. And this

Unknown:

is something that I really only recently have discovered and

Unknown:

learn to be true, is that everyone has a calling. And it

Unknown:

can vary depending on what season of life we're in. But

Unknown:

everyone has this calling, just like I believe that God gives us

Unknown:

all these gifts that He wants us to use, that we can use them to

Unknown:

serve others, whether it be in our homes, or out in the world.

Unknown:

And I believe that if we are being called, here's the kicker,

Unknown:

we are capable, we're capable of doing these hard things. Now,

Unknown:

that doesn't mean that there's not going to be failure or mess

Unknown:

ups or imperfections or roadblocks along the way. That

Unknown:

doesn't mean that we're not going to be facing really

Unknown:

difficult situations, possibly scary situations. I mean, what

Unknown:

if you're being called to step onto stage, and it doesn't even

Unknown:

have to be a big stage. This can be like doing something in a

Unknown:

virtual group where you're asked to show up and say something,

Unknown:

you might even be called to start serving as a leader in

Unknown:

maybe your church, and somebody wants you to do a Bible study,

Unknown:

and you're like, oh my gosh, I've never led a Bible study

Unknown:

before. But I believe that God is putting on my heart that this

Unknown:

is something I'm supposed to be doing right now. Even just a

Unknown:

book club, you know, maybe it's just getting together with some

Unknown:

friends in your neighborhood, or some of the mom friends that you

Unknown:

know, from someplace that you guys do stuff together, and

Unknown:

you're wanting to host them in your home, you're wanting to

Unknown:

talk to them about something that you're working on, and

Unknown:

you're scared or you feel like I don't know if I can do that, you

Unknown:

know, enter whatever your hangups are in place here. But

Unknown:

here's what I know, if we are truly being called to do

Unknown:

something, and that is in alignment with what God has

Unknown:

planned for us. We are capable. And the nice thing about knowing

Unknown:

that and just straight up taking comfort in the fact that we're

Unknown:

capable of doing these things that God is calling us to do,

Unknown:

then we don't have to worry about all the details that can

Unknown:

bog us down. We can hit that paralysis by analysis. That's

Unknown:

something that I've shared on my mom's organization, motivation

Unknown:

podcast when getting organized and trying to move forward in

Unknown:

your life. And we get stuck, we get stopped because of overwhelm

Unknown:

because of stress. And we get paralyzed. We start analyzing

Unknown:

all the different ways that we could go about doing something

Unknown:

and then we don't do it stops us in our tracks. But I would like

Unknown:

for you to start thinking about what you're being called to do,

Unknown:

and knowing that you're capable of it, otherwise you wouldn't be

Unknown:

called. You know, there are a lot of times in

Unknown:

In the Bible where God has shared different callings for

Unknown:

people, and he does that, like, oh, my gosh, Moses, Joe, we hear

Unknown:

about the patients of Joe, we hear about how Moses had a

Unknown:

speech impediment we hear and he was called to carry people

Unknown:

across this thread seen. I mean, he was called to share with us

Unknown:

the 10 commandments. I mean, if he just said, Okay, God, you're

Unknown:

calling me to do these things. But I don't know, if I'm

Unknown:

capable, for whatever reason, then, don't you think that the

Unknown:

world would look so different these days, he calls us and he

Unknown:

calls on the people that he believes they are capable of

Unknown:

doing it, despite all the things that we might think are wrong

Unknown:

with us. Despite all the things that we may think these are

Unknown:

reasons that nobody's gonna listen to me, or nobody's gonna

Unknown:

follow me, or nobody's gonna value what I have to say,

Unknown:

because of all of these human faults. Let me tell you about

Unknown:

human faults. They're relatable. I know, I don't want to work

Unknown:

with somebody who thinks that he or she has everything figured

Unknown:

out and that they aren't perfect. I don't want to work

Unknown:

with someone like that. Because that's going to hold me to an

Unknown:

unachievable standard. If I'm working with someone who feels

Unknown:

like there is a perfect way to do it. And if we deviate from

Unknown:

that at all, then we're not doing what we're supposed to be

Unknown:

doing, or it's not going to be as good. Did you ever do that

Unknown:

when you were in school and have those group projects, and then

Unknown:

you got paired up with someone who maybe has great leadership

Unknown:

qualities, and is totally capable of really doing great

Unknown:

things in the classroom, but they kind of stink at making you

Unknown:

feel like if you don't do it their way, you're wrong. And if

Unknown:

you don't do it in this certain particular way, that you're

Unknown:

gonna mess it up. I didn't like working with people like that in

Unknown:

groups. I liked working with people who were like, well, I

Unknown:

mean, I'm going to share a way that maybe I might do something,

Unknown:

let's hear what you have to say page, how might you tackle

Unknown:

something, and then let's just figure out how to move toward

Unknown:

that end goal with our ideas in mind. And we would know that we

Unknown:

might not get it right, we might not nail it the first time, if

Unknown:

we had a problem our teacher wanted us to solve. We might not

Unknown:

figure it out at the exact moment. I'm having flashbacks,

Unknown:

like chemistry class when we had to perform these experiments.

Unknown:

And sometimes we might have to try out things. And we were a

Unknown:

little bit uncertain. But we also were like, Okay, well, you

Unknown:

know, we've got this blueprint, we've got this format, we've got

Unknown:

a couple of people here working together as a team who are going

Unknown:

to try to move the ball forward and see if we can figure this

Unknown:

out. And it felt so good to be with someone who, yeah, was

Unknown:

confident, but maybe didn't feel like their way was the only way

Unknown:

to try it. It was nice to know that there was someone else who

Unknown:

was going to be with me, who was kind of flawed, who was a little

Unknown:

bit like, alright, we're uncertain. But let's tackle this

Unknown:

together and give it our best shot. That's the person I wanted

Unknown:

to be paired with. Because then I knew I didn't have to be

Unknown:

perfect and have everything figured out in order to make

Unknown:

progress. So I just want you to know today that if you have this

Unknown:

self doubt, that is coming up for you. It's okay to feel that

Unknown:

and acknowledge that. But also know that if you're being called

Unknown:

to do something, it's because you're capable, and you're

Unknown:

capable. Despite all these things that might come up for

Unknown:

you as excuses or reasons why you think you can't do it. You

Unknown:

are capable. Otherwise, God wouldn't ask you to do it. All

Unknown:

right. There are certain things in my life that I don't feel

Unknown:

like I'm ever going to be called to do. I don't think God's ever

Unknown:

gonna call me to be a fighter pilot. I don't think he's ever

Unknown:

going to call me to be a pilot on any plane. And the reason is,

Unknown:

because that doesn't feel in alignment with what I'm wanting

Unknown:

to add what I'm called to do my purpose, my legacy that I want

Unknown:

to leave for my family. It just doesn't feel like it's in

Unknown:

alignment. And I don't think I could be wrong, especially with

Unknown:

my fear fights, okay. Which what do we know? Just did a podcast

Unknown:

episode all about this fear is a liar. Just because I'm afraid of

Unknown:

heights doesn't mean that heights are going to get the

Unknown:

best of me and take me down forever. I can conquer those

Unknown:

fears. I also love roller coasters. How weird is that? I'm

Unknown:

afraid of heights but I also love roller coasters. And it is

Unknown:

definitely a Mind over Matter thing. Right? I get up there and

Unknown:

I get ready to go on this big scary roller coaster. And I tell

Unknown:

myself, don't be afraid at the heights because you are going to

Unknown:

have so much fun there.

Unknown:

are going to be so many. Turns out, you know what now that sort

Unknown:

of playing out this metaphor, I'm like, of course, I'm going

Unknown:

to start the time to pivot podcast and talk about

Unknown:

roadblocks and scary situations in times of transition. And just

Unknown:

being along for the ride. I'm now thinking about how I'm feel

Unknown:

about roller coasters. I love them, they get me so fired up.

Unknown:

So excited, I will wait in those long damn lines, because I know

Unknown:

that it is going to be a roller coaster of fun, there's going to

Unknown:

be some scary parts that come up trusting that those roller

Unknown:

coasters are secure, there has to be a really, you know, big

Unknown:

trust factor there. If you are getting ready to go on this

Unknown:

ride, whether physical in actual life or metaphorical. You need

Unknown:

to trust that there's a foundation there. For me, I

Unknown:

always talk about the faith, having faith that God is my

Unknown:

driving force in my life, having a support system of friends and

Unknown:

family around me making sure that I am leaning into the

Unknown:

advice of mentors and coaches, and advisors in my life, having

Unknown:

that good firm foundation, and allow you to feel that fear,

Unknown:

knowing that fear might be there to protect us. But it also can

Unknown:

lie to us and keep us stuck. And also trust that we are going to

Unknown:

be capable of going on this wild crazy ride. And it turns out,

Unknown:

it's not all going to be in vain. Because there are these

Unknown:

lessons that we're learning along the way. And we could be

Unknown:

making really big impact in our lives in the lives of others.

Unknown:

Because we are choosing, you are choosing to lean into that fear

Unknown:

or doubt or guilt or whatever's going on for you. And trusting

Unknown:

that if we are truly called to do this thing we're capable of

Unknown:

doing it. Maybe not perfectly. But that's okay. Our mess can be

Unknown:

our message, right? Mess up and share that with people. It's

Unknown:

important to share your story so that people don't think that you

Unknown:

got to a place all on your own. We've asked for help for others

Unknown:

around us. We've trusted ourselves that we're capable of

Unknown:

doing it, we've trusted that God has a plan for us, making sure

Unknown:

that all of those things are working together to support you

Unknown:

tapping into all of those things to know and trust. We're not

Unknown:

alone in this, there is a bigger plan, there is a bigger picture.

Unknown:

And your efforts aren't going to be in vain.

Unknown:

A quick reminder, you can now get my book in four different

Unknown:

ways. Head over to Amazon and search up. I've got you

Unknown:

girlfriend, the subtitle is why getting organized and living

Unknown:

this mom life is not a solo mission. You can find it there

Unknown:

on ereader. That's through the Kindle app, paperback,

Unknown:

hardcover, and the audiobook. So if you're enjoying this podcast,

Unknown:

I have a feeling you may love the audio book. Again. It's

Unknown:

called I've got you girlfriend, wife getting organized and

Unknown:

living this mom life is not a solo mission. Thanks so much for

Unknown:

making it a best seller and back to the show.

Unknown:

So I wanted to share with you this really sweet thing that my

Unknown:

husband got for my daughter. And it is a message that was framed

Unknown:

and it sits in her room. Because listen, it's not just about us.

Unknown:

It is about making sure that we are leaving that legacy that we

Unknown:

are following what it is that God is putting on our hearts to

Unknown:

teach our children that they can do that too. So one of the

Unknown:

things that he did for my suite is the belt, we're gonna have to

Unknown:

get something like this for Duke as well as he got this framed

Unknown:

piece of art that says, What if I fall over my darling? What if

Unknown:

you fly? Flying seems to be a thing suddenly in this episode.

Unknown:

What if you are so scared of falling and failing and messing

Unknown:

up? And maybe even embarrassing yourself and having to say, oh,

Unknown:

boy, I was wrong. And I need to go about this in a different

Unknown:

way. That's still okay, you can still be on the right path and

Unknown:

be aligned with your purpose and your calling and still mess up

Unknown:

because we're human. But we're also capable. So what if you

Unknown:

fall? Yeah, we talked about that on last episodes where we talked

Unknown:

about that fear of failure. We talked about that. Go back and

Unknown:

listen to that episode. I'll make sure I link it in show

Unknown:

notes here. But what if you fly? My darling, my friend? What if

Unknown:

you fly? What if you freaking crush it? What if you just

Unknown:

absolutely nail it? And you learn these amazing lessons

Unknown:

along the way and your end goal is really

Unknown:

reached, and you are serving others in the biggest way

Unknown:

possible. What about that, if you didn't lean into all of

Unknown:

those crazy feelings and normal feelings, really normal real

Unknown:

feelings of anxiety or struggle, or stress or fear or whatever,

Unknown:

it's okay. All of those things are going to work for good on

Unknown:

that journey. And what if you fly? What if you really, really

Unknown:

do that, if you had, let all those things get in the way, and

Unknown:

you didn't even try, you could have missed out on the

Unknown:

opportunity to fly, to do these great big things to help others.

Unknown:

Use your story. Take what's going on in your life right now,

Unknown:

and figure out a way to make that be the message that you're

Unknown:

sharing with other people on your journey, the one that you

Unknown:

are fully capable of going on, because he just wouldn't put it

Unknown:

in your heart, if it wasn't something that you were able to

Unknown:

do. And know that God uses flawed people, He uses people

Unknown:

who might even be at rock bottom, to give them this

Unknown:

message of hope. So that they can turn their lives around,

Unknown:

they can have that big pivot in their life, and then impact

Unknown:

other people. let other people know that if you are at rock

Unknown:

bottom, or have you are on your way there, that there is hope.

Unknown:

That may be your mission, that may be what you are being called

Unknown:

to do. And you are fully capable of doing it imperfectly flawed,

Unknown:

confused, scared to death, and all. It's okay. Just trust that

Unknown:

there is more than you as a human being at work. So I want

Unknown:

to let you know that there have been lots of episodes already

Unknown:

that I've talked a little bit more deeply about some of these

Unknown:

things that might be coming up for you. But I cannot wait for

Unknown:

you to join me next week. Because my coach and my dear

Unknown:

friend, Kelly mowbot, who I have taken tons of advice from over

Unknown:

the years in life in business and parenting and all the

Unknown:

things. And I have used her words of wisdom and her advice

Unknown:

to apply things to my life. And I am telling you that more than

Unknown:

half of the stuff that I have accomplished in the last few

Unknown:

years, I credit so much to her services to her help to her

Unknown:

wisdom and encouragement and her experience. And I'm so grateful

Unknown:

for her and I am so so pumped to have you guys listen to our

Unknown:

episode, which I've already recorded, and you are going to

Unknown:

love it. I'm telling you, it's gonna give you so much

Unknown:

encouragement, if she talks about something. Our episode is

Unknown:

called take the lead in your life, she's going to teach you

Unknown:

and talk to you about what it looks like to take the lead in

Unknown:

your life. Even if you are an introvert, even if you don't

Unknown:

know what you're doing, we're going to talk about that

Unknown:

leadership role. Because she believes that leaders don't

Unknown:

wait, they create, they don't wait to figure everything out,

Unknown:

they start creating along the way, and they start getting

Unknown:

closer and closer to their plans, their purpose, their

Unknown:

calling. So you guys are going to absolutely love that. But we

Unknown:

also talked about some other things that came out that I

Unknown:

wasn't expecting in the episode. That's what's so fun about these

Unknown:

guest episodes in these interviews, I can have an idea

Unknown:

or a topic that I want us to discuss. But but then

Unknown:

inevitably, these amazing people inspire me halfway through and

Unknown:

they drop these incredible nuggets, or these gigantic mic

Unknown:

drop moments and these words of wisdom that are like, so life

Unknown:

altering. And one of the things that she's talking about is not

Unknown:

asking for other people's permission, even the people you

Unknown:

love your spouse, your kids, your friends, your co workers,

Unknown:

your boss, not asking their permission, but finding out a

Unknown:

way to create agreements with them. So it's mutually

Unknown:

beneficial for everyone, as you are on your journey to pursue

Unknown:

your calling, and to figure out what it is that God is putting

Unknown:

in front of you and to see the fruits of your labor. So don't

Unknown:

miss that episode. So I'm going to say it one more time. If you

Unknown:

are feeling called to do really great big things. You have these

Unknown:

big lofty goals, and you're having all those feelings come

Unknown:

up for you that might be holding you back. I want you to remember

Unknown:

and say this to yourself today, multiple times a day, every day,

Unknown:

put it on a post it on your mirror. If I am called, I am

Unknown:

capable. If you have a message on your heart that you need to

Unknown:

get out. You don't have to have everything figured out to start.

Unknown:

You can figure it out along the way. But if you are called to do

Unknown:

these things, it's because you are absolutely capable. So trust

Unknown:

yourself. Trust that there is someone out there

Unknown:

In this making sure that you are going to be able to carry out

Unknown:

these plans. All right, and I will talk to you next week for

Unknown:

our guest episode with Kelly melbet. Thanks so much for

Unknown:

listening and I'll talk to you then. Bye bye.
