>> RB: Foreign M.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Everybody out there tuning in today to this fresh
Speaker:new episode of Chasing Birdies. We are back here
Speaker:in the saddle. It feels good to be back, my man,
Speaker:JP And I'm grateful for you today being here,
Speaker:yucking it up on this banner session as we embark
Speaker:into the fall season. How are you?
Speaker:>> RB: It's another week, my man. It is another week. And
Speaker:in October, it is maybe my favorite month of the
Speaker:whole year, other than my birthday month, because
Speaker:I take the month off and take golf trips. But
Speaker:October golf is here. And, um, I love it. I love
Speaker:it. Just a little crisp air in the morning. Um, a
Speaker:little chilly. Maybe a quarter zip, some shorts.
Speaker:Uh, definitely not a quarter zip. Short sleeve
Speaker:over my quarter zip.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But I was going to say, have you ever seen a short
Speaker:sleeve quarter zip?
Speaker:>> RB: Never. Not until this week. Um, get into that. But
Speaker:yeah.
Speaker:Anyways, today's episode is brought to you by Red
Speaker:Vanley. Make sure you go check them
Speaker:out@redvanly.com. uh, all the fall winter gear is
Speaker:out, which is crazy to say, as we know we've had
Speaker:enough of these guys on the winter gear is already
Speaker:ready. It's like putting a cart before the horse,
Speaker:which I'm really good at.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, I agree with you, though. I think October is
Speaker:the best month of the year. Um, and I'm not saying
Speaker:that because it's my birthday month. I'm not. But
Speaker:the weather is perfect. Generally speaking,
Speaker:September was great. A little bit of lacking of
Speaker:rain, but October is awesome for golf. You have
Speaker:the MLB playoffs going. Football is kind of in the
Speaker:fifth, sixth, seventh week of the season. College,
Speaker:same thing.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Hockey's kicking off.
Speaker:>> RB: There's a lot going on, man. There is a lot. Like
Speaker:sports. Sports are here, I guess you can say. And
Speaker:I'm looking forward to the big league playoffs. I,
Speaker:uh, mean, the Buckers aren't in it, but, um, you
Speaker:know, like we say next year. It's always next
Speaker:year.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, I don't think so. I think there will never
Speaker:be a next year for them. I think it's sad,
Speaker:truthfully.
Speaker:>> RB: But that's a different to this.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I know, dude. I know you've been on the bandwagon
Speaker:and I know, you know, but the reality is it's just
Speaker:unfortunate. That's all.
Speaker:>> RB: It is unfortunate. It is unfortunate, but it's
Speaker:exciting.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You have a whole plethora of skeens, autographs,
Speaker:which is great. Dude, in like 20 years from now,
Speaker:you're gonna be able to.
Speaker:>> RB: Parker's gonna be. Parker's gonna be wealthy.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: He's Gonna be wealthy off Paul Skeens, and they're
Speaker:gonna be like, did he play for the Pirates? Yeah,
Speaker:that's who he played for. But I was listening to
Speaker:the talk show, and they brought up a good point.
Speaker:It's sad that we're already talking about the next
Speaker:two years of having to build around him, because
Speaker:we know the inevitable is gonna happen. He's gonna
Speaker:be gone. Yeah, that's what's.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, that's the sad part. I mean, the guy.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Sad part.
Speaker:>> RB: The Guy had a 1.97 ERA. He's gonna win the Cy
Speaker:Young. I'm willing to gamble. Um, and he was 10
Speaker:and 10 to the year. Yeah. That's terrible.
Speaker:Terrible. It's awful. So, anyways, it's a lot like
Speaker:the Ryder cup, dude. It's a lot like the Team USA
Speaker:Ryder cup, right? You have all.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You perform, and then.
Speaker:>> RB: So let's. There is so much to wrap my head around
Speaker:for those three days.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I just don't.
Speaker:>> RB: I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say
Speaker:about the usa. I will say Team Europe. I think
Speaker:that, um, just the Ryder cup means so much more to
Speaker:Europe, dude. I mean, you just. I just think that
Speaker:they have that energy. It's the Ryder Cup. Um, you
Speaker:know, I saw somebody make a. A post the other day
Speaker:that, you know, Team Europe grew up playing $5
Speaker:Nassau with their own money. Team USA showed up
Speaker:with their swing coaches, mental coaches, and
Speaker:workout coaches.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's true. And they knew how to play, and they
Speaker:know how to play alternate shot. Um, and so do
Speaker:Steve Piering and I. But that's foreshadowing. But
Speaker:the reality is, is they did not perform well the
Speaker:first two days. They got outplayed. And everyone
Speaker:says, well, how well the Europeans were playing,
Speaker:which obviously is true. They were playing with
Speaker:the Americans. The Americans. It just looked like
Speaker:we just had no.
Speaker:>> RB: Nothing.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Nothing. There was no answer.
Speaker:>> RB: There was nothing.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And it's hard. You know, these guys are pouring
Speaker:their heart and soul, and they want to win for
Speaker:their country. I mean, you know, uh, it's not like
Speaker:they were laying down, but that was to the point
Speaker:where they were just getting waxed. I'll give you
Speaker:an example. I mean, Bryson was five down in that
Speaker:match on Sunday. I mean, five down. Now, granted,
Speaker:he have the match, which was incredible, but
Speaker:that's just kind of a little microcosm of the
Speaker:greater picture. You know what I mean?
Speaker:>> RB: Well, I mean, I think that in day two, Rory,
Speaker:whoever he was with, they were making parts of
Speaker:winning holes like, you're not even. There's not
Speaker:even a. There's no pressure. There's no nothing.
Speaker:I mean, it was like Team USA was hitting putts and
Speaker:there wasn't even a hole there. Like that. There
Speaker:was not a hole. They just. Just hit it 15ft and it
Speaker:get around where the hole might be. And they did
Speaker:not make a putt in two days. The most exciting
Speaker:shot they of three days for Team USA was when
Speaker:Justin Thomas. Hold that wedge. Shot out and that
Speaker:par four for eagle. Uh, I saw. I've seen a lot of
Speaker:things about team, uh, usa, you know, the fans.
Speaker:Yes, I would agree. Crossing it a little bit. The
Speaker:fans had nothing to cheer about. Dude. The fans
Speaker:were taken out of it after day one. And then it
Speaker:was almost like, you know, what effort. We're just
Speaker:gonna get drunk and scream up stupid stuff, and
Speaker:it's unacceptable. Um, you know, Rory's wife had a
Speaker:beer thrown at her.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, it's ridiculous.
Speaker:>> RB: It's just. It's so stupid. And, you know, he.
Speaker:Rory, Sunday night, had a good one, dude. Someone,
Speaker:one of the reporters said, uh, you know, some guy
Speaker:was asking if you think you're that good. And he
Speaker:said, no, he said, I'm that effing good. And it's
Speaker:just these guys are so. They're so good. Team
Speaker:Europe is so good. And are they more talented? I
Speaker:don't know. I would. On paper, probably not. But
Speaker:they have more heart. And I mean in that. In their
Speaker:match play players. That's what people don't
Speaker:understand. Your average golfer does not
Speaker:understand how much harder match play is than
Speaker:stroke play. Scottie Scheffler, the world number
Speaker:one, was owned for in match play going into the
Speaker:singles. He's a number one player in the world.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It's. That's unbelievable.
Speaker:>> RB: It's a different ball game. Everyone has a chance
Speaker:when it's match play.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I loved the, um, Oberg and DeChambeau matchup
Speaker:early on Saturday. Uh, morning, first one's out
Speaker:the gate. And I told you, I said, but we didn't
Speaker:text Greg Bodine and Scoby and ask him if there is
Speaker:some inner squad talking of shit between the
Speaker:caddies. So we did, but I sent the text out to the
Speaker:boys. Greg never replied. Joey did. You did. Um,
Speaker:well, Greg was.
Speaker:>> RB: But that in a little bit of a tussle, boys, on the
Speaker:second match.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: This was. This was before that. This was before
Speaker:Justin Rose absolutely stared at him with the
Speaker:fiercest look in his eye, like, what the hell are
Speaker:you doing?
Speaker:>> RB: It's not your Boy at our boy, Greg Bodine.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Jibo didn't know. I felt kind of bad for him
Speaker:because I felt like he was. Like his feelings were
Speaker:hurt. And then it carried on to the next hole, and
Speaker:then up to 18.
Speaker:>> RB: You had Teddy Scott getting into it with Molinari,
Speaker:who's an assistant coach, which they ended up
Speaker:doing a cool little video the next day. Just
Speaker:saying, you know, we're best buds. It's not.
Speaker:Whatever. But, you know, everybody was getting in
Speaker:this.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean, these guys. And then Rosie kind of plays
Speaker:it off at the end there, like it's not a big deal.
Speaker:What should I have said? Excuse me? Maybe I should
Speaker:have. I don't know, but I don't care. Yeah, it was
Speaker:a heated moment, but the reality is, is that's
Speaker:going to stick with people now for a while. Like,
Speaker:Jibo is not going to have that much respect for J.
Speaker:Rose and his caddy. You would think, granted, they
Speaker:don't have to see each other.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, exactly. But you would think that that will
Speaker:carry over. And, um, I thought maybe that might
Speaker:get the boys fired up a little bit. And it did.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But it got me fired up.
Speaker:>> RB: I'll tell us.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: He's thrilling.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, we knew he was good, but after this Ryder
Speaker:Cup, Tommy Fleetwood is so freaking good. And that
Speaker:shows you how hard it is to win on the PGA Tour.
Speaker:That guy's won one time. He is a stud.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I feel like he had a little tear in his eye when
Speaker:he missed that putt on. On 18. And during the
Speaker:single matches. Who do you play? I forget who he
Speaker:played, but, uh, maybe Justin Thomas. I thought
Speaker:they were gonna do it, though, man. I thought they
Speaker:were gonna do it.
Speaker:>> RB: This stupid envelope roll.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So let's talk about that. Like, so apparently, if
Speaker:you withdraw within 30 minutes of your tee time,
Speaker:you lose the whole point. But if you. If you bow
Speaker:out ahead of time, then you just have the match.
Speaker:>> RB: I don't, uh. And these names, like, Team USA has
Speaker:to give a name for the envelope role before the
Speaker:matches start. So I think it was Harris English.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Harris English? Yeah. He did not play.
Speaker:>> RB: Okay, so Harris English's name gets thrown
Speaker:envelope. How do you feel if you're Harris
Speaker:English? Like, my. My name was picked out of these
Speaker:12 guys to be that. I. I have a big problem in the
Speaker:whole thing. Like, if you're gonna. If. If you're
Speaker:gonna say, hey, they each get half a point, just
Speaker:don't give them any points, because in the end, it
Speaker:could cost somebody a Ryder Cup. And who's to say
Speaker:that did not do that. This. I mean, the half point
Speaker:ended up being what they needed.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, that, that, that half point. I mean, even
Speaker:with Henley missing that putt, leaving it right in
Speaker:her throat, which was a phenomenal bunker shot, by
Speaker:the way, on 18, I was like, there's no way he's
Speaker:getting this in there. He went left of the pin.
Speaker:Probably a mishit, but it worked out. But, um,
Speaker:that half point really weighed a lot in their
Speaker:favor.
Speaker:>> RB: Yes.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Really. Really.
Speaker:>> RB: So you don't play. You withdraw. Okay. If you
Speaker:withdraw from a PGA Tour event in the third round,
Speaker:okay, you don't get to finish last in the money.
Speaker:You're out. You don't make any. So why, in this
Speaker:sense, are you getting half of a point for.
Speaker:Against a guy who's ready to go? I just don't get
Speaker:it. I don't. I don't understand it. Um, Keegan
Speaker:Bradley said that role has to change. It's only
Speaker:been used three times in the whole, uh, history of
Speaker:the Ryder Cup. So, I mean, it doesn't happen
Speaker:often, but I think that was a crucial half point
Speaker:that they had to give up for essentially nothing.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And, uh, I will say, speaking of the course
Speaker:itself, obviously they received a lot of rain,
Speaker:which softened everything up. But given that, I
Speaker:really thought it would have played tougher. I
Speaker:mean, you think about the Open days of Beth Page
Speaker:Black, and you just think about the rough, and
Speaker:they were saying it was better to hit out of the
Speaker:rough than it was the fairway because they could
Speaker:control the spin better, which is true.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah. Yep.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But.
Speaker:>> RB: And, and there was moisture. There was a little
Speaker:moisture in that rough. Um, the rough didn't look
Speaker:very long.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It did. That's what I'm saying. It didn't. It
Speaker:wasn't. It wasn't set up. And I don't know if that
Speaker:is by design or if that's just. But it wasn't.
Speaker:Obviously it wasn't US Open caliber golf course,
Speaker:but this is a US Open golf course, so you would
Speaker:think that in some respect, it would have been a
Speaker:little more aggressive on the setup with how hard
Speaker:it was playing, and it really wasn't playing that
Speaker:hard. Yeah, I mean, those guys ate it up.
Speaker:>> RB: They. They. They ate it up. And, um, the rough was
Speaker:not penalizing at all. Balls were reacting
Speaker:whenever it came out of the rough. It was like you
Speaker:said, it was actually probably better because once
Speaker:it hit, it was not going anywhere. If you were
Speaker:hitting it on the fairway, it was spinning off of
Speaker:greens. Yeah. But on another front.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Crazy.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, Michael Jordan was there, and naturally, I saw
Speaker:the shoes he was rocking, which was a golf shoe,
Speaker:and so I screenshotted it and sent it off to
Speaker:Gentry, and I said, hey, bud. I said, I'm assuming
Speaker:these are never coming out. Right? And he said,
Speaker:don't ever say never. So those might be coming
Speaker:out, the Jordan golf shoes that everybody's been
Speaker:talking about. It's been all over social media,
Speaker:based on my conversation. They might be out.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. I mean, I'm surprised you don't have them
Speaker:delivered today, knowing you.
Speaker:>> RB: Well.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, he was there, dude. Trump, that was kind of
Speaker:funny.
Speaker:>> RB: Did you see the video? Hey, Donald Trump.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: Do you see what he commented? He said, I'm
Speaker:watching. Congratulations.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah. Meanwhile, they all live in America. But,
Speaker:um, yeah, like, uh, it was a great, I think. Um, I
Speaker:texted you and B, on Sunday, and I said, dude,
Speaker:regardless of the outcome, this final round of the
Speaker:Ryder cup is all you wanted.
Speaker:>> RB: I mean, they were close, dude. They were close,
Speaker:and I'm shocked that they got that close.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean, they got that close, dude.
Speaker:>> RB: They were.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: They got that.
Speaker:>> RB: That far away.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah.
Speaker:>> RB: From winning it. And that would have been a, um.
Speaker:That would have been a bigger comeback than
Speaker:Brookline.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean, some of these. Than Brookline and at the
Speaker:country club.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Um, some of these guys care more about the Ryder
Speaker:cup than they do anything.
Speaker:>> RB: That's what I'm saying.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, the Euros.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, yeah. I mean, Rory McIlroy basically said
Speaker:it's bigger than any major he has.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So 20, 27 boys, their manor back over in Ireland,
Speaker:where we were. The boys were there, funny enough.
Speaker:The Steelers just played there. Skyler Thompson
Speaker:got robbed, which reminds me of the night. Almost
Speaker:got robbed. But, uh, moving over to Irish soil,
Speaker:man, 27 might be. I don't know. We might have to
Speaker:look into that.
Speaker:>> RB: That might be a fun one. Pretty cool.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Go over and see the lads celebrate 41st. Have a
Speaker:pint.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, I mean, it is your birthday month, as you
Speaker:mentioned, and, um, I mean, did you hear me turned
Speaker:39. You don't look a day over 21 or tall enough to
Speaker:be.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I don't feel it either, dude.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, but, I mean, I would say October 10th sounds
Speaker:like a good time to go to Muirfield Village.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, the Muirfield trips. Uh, day trip. Sounds
Speaker:like it's back onto books as of this week. So, um,
Speaker:mosey on out there, see the boy whiz, maybe get
Speaker:another hole in one. I do love Muirfield Village,
Speaker:though. I do love me some Yearfield Village, I
Speaker:think.
Speaker:>> RB: Oh, my gosh. Just everything, dude. The golf
Speaker:course is great. The amenities are great. The. The
Speaker:men's grill is great. The milkshakes are out of
Speaker:this world. I mean, we drank so many two times ago
Speaker:that we both got sick.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, it took two for the road, for the air. But,
Speaker:um, we had a good time. I know your golf game has
Speaker:kind of been shelved a little bit due to your
Speaker:injury. I know you got some tape everywhere on
Speaker:your body right now trying to create electrical
Speaker:stimulus for you, but, uh, I got to see a little
Speaker:bit, uh, up in. That was fun for the WVU event.
Speaker:>> RB: And good for the kids.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I enjoyed it, man. I enjoyed it.
Speaker:>> RB: We fell short, and, uh, but it was all right. We
Speaker:got to see, you know, Tyler Reeve, and, uh, met
Speaker:James Otto, who, if you don't know him, look him
Speaker:up. Voices out of this World. I think Mike Oates
Speaker:might be his biggest fan. Um.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, my God, that was hilarious.
Speaker:>> RB: That guy can sing and play the guitar. And, you
Speaker:know, Tyler kind of sat back a little bit and let
Speaker:James take the show over. I don't know if you
Speaker:really noticed that, but he did.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, James just has this voice that just carries.
Speaker:I mean, Tyler's voice is one of the best as well.
Speaker:James just being, you know, 6, 4, 3, 30. And just
Speaker:plays that guitar like it's nothing. And he sings
Speaker:like, uh. It's. It's. It's beautiful. I mean, a
Speaker:Jamie Johnson song. The funny thing is, we. Yeah,
Speaker:we were just kind of hanging there in a cigar bar,
Speaker:and, you know, you just. People just started
Speaker:coming in because they heard people singing. They
Speaker:heard people singing. Next thing you know, it's
Speaker:back, and, uh, we had the little John of the plane
Speaker:through thing going on there.
Speaker:>> RB: And naturally, I said the Irish goodbye. I just
Speaker:went missing.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, that was kind of flaky.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, it's because if you say.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean, I respect.
Speaker:>> RB: Everybody's like, why are you leaving? I'm like,
Speaker:listen, bud, I'm leaving. So naturally, I just
Speaker:don't tell anybody, and I just. I'm. Poof. I'm
Speaker:gone.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, I love the Irish Goodbye. In certain
Speaker:circumstances, like if you're at a wedding and you
Speaker:got to go around and say goodbye to everybody,
Speaker:hell, no. It's like, hey, I'm leaving. Or if you
Speaker:had a party, everyone's kind of having a good
Speaker:time, and you had a great time, but you want to
Speaker:get out, I'm there for it. But I mean, literally,
Speaker:you were sitting across from me on this, like,
Speaker:intimate setting. Uh, there was, like, six people
Speaker:there. All you had to do is say, listen, I got a
Speaker:bad headache, my ankle's hurting, I'm hitting the
Speaker:bed.
Speaker:But you did it. But I respect the reasoning behind
Speaker:it, but I, uh, would not have given you any for
Speaker:that. Mikey Oates would have for sure. He was
Speaker:giving you about it when he left.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, I mean, but I've been traveling like no
Speaker:other. I. Like, can I just get some sleep?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: I mean, BCATS was there turned up, huh? Yeah, he
Speaker:was.
Speaker:>> RB: I listened to him all night. Yeah, he was turned
Speaker:up, all right. I ended up on a couch.
Speaker:Uh, anyways, you have some exciting news. Uh, you
Speaker:in your. Your compadre Steve Piering went out to
Speaker:Pronghorn. Uh, what's this tournament even called
Speaker:anymore? Two Man. What? But, I mean, I feel like
Speaker:it's been called a couple different things. Link.
Speaker:So what is it?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It has. No, it's not Link Soul anymore. It was
Speaker:Link Soul, and then it became the Fire Pit
Speaker:Collective, which lasted six months. And then
Speaker:Hammer and John now just have. They're just doing
Speaker:it themselves. Ashworth Brothers two Man, which,
Speaker:by the way, in March, they're going to be at Pine
Speaker:Needles, Mid Pines, and, um, Southern Pines.
Speaker:>> RB: Steve said that was going to happen last year,
Speaker:too, so we'll hold on to that one.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, it's happened. It's. It is happening,
Speaker:because, you know, you saw the whole schedule for
Speaker:26. But, uh, now, we had a great time at
Speaker:Pronghorn. Pronghorn in Oregon is. Is near and
Speaker:dear to my heart, man. And battled some years with
Speaker:Steve, both of us, and, um, for whatever reason,
Speaker:this year was not like any other year, man. I
Speaker:mean, yeah, we had a couple.
Speaker:>> RB: Uh, real quick, before you go any further into
Speaker:what happened with you guys, can. I mean, can we
Speaker:get this out of the way? I'm not playing in the
Speaker:two. The, uh, two man at Pine Needles. I know he
Speaker:said that.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You said. You told me that.
Speaker:>> RB: Summer, 40th birthday. Um, but would. Do you want
Speaker:to be my partner for the Ashworth Brothers one in
Speaker:North Carolina?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You want to go down? Sure.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah. We're in. We're partners.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Is this an invite?
Speaker:>> RB: This is. Well, you're inviting me.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, I don't necessarily know the dates of. Of
Speaker:the tournament you're always involved in. I know
Speaker:you always say it's the first weekend of March,
Speaker:but March falls.
Speaker:>> RB: It's like, end of February, early March, so.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Okay. Um, yeah, let's maybe poke that on the
Speaker:schedule.
Speaker:>> RB: All right, I'll just take this one out over here
Speaker:and put this one in over here.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: There you Go. It's an even swap. Your. Your wife
Speaker:will love you.
Speaker:>> RB: Fill us in on you and Steve Piering's run because
Speaker:it was a good one.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, dude, it was great. No, we just played.
Speaker:Well, Steve kind of was with it this year. I mean,
Speaker:in the years past, you know, you caught me taking
Speaker:videos of him like, getting out of the, the shit
Speaker:everywhere. And, uh, he didn't like that too much.
Speaker:And I get it because he's trying. But none of
Speaker:that. This year I really only got one or two
Speaker:videos of his Aaron T. Shots. Um, one was a top,
Speaker:but outside of that, he, he was there. The guy was
Speaker:there. And in fact, he'll laugh because I, I
Speaker:fleeced him so bad. I fleeced him so bad. I pulled
Speaker:this drive way left. It would look like one of his
Speaker:old drives. It was way left, done. It was in the
Speaker:rocks, in the fescue, in the sand, whatever. So
Speaker:I'm walking around looking for it and he, I hear
Speaker:him coming behind me and he's got his phone out
Speaker:and he's videoing me like, oh, he's got me now.
Speaker:Look, Bash is looking for his ball. So I turned
Speaker:around and I said, hey, Steve, did you hit it left
Speaker:or do you think it kind of hit off this tree as
Speaker:he's videoing me to make it out? Like, I'm
Speaker:looking. Yeah. But, uh, we lost the last match and
Speaker:I got a little pissed at Steve because it was a
Speaker:par 5. We had like an 8 footer for birdie. I had
Speaker:an 8 footer for birdie. And, um, and I missed it.
Speaker:It just slipped by the hole. I thought I made it,
Speaker:but I missed it. And that ended up. We, we lost
Speaker:the match, but didn't matter because we still had
Speaker:enough points to get in, yada, yada, yada. But,
Speaker:you know, we're getting in the cart. And he's
Speaker:like, you know, if you make that putt, we're in
Speaker:the shootout. If you would have made that putt, we
Speaker:would have been in the shootout, guaranteed. I'm
Speaker:like. But it's a collective of all of us. I mean,
Speaker:I could look back at you and go, you know, well,
Speaker:if you'd have done this, we'd have done. Been
Speaker:there. And he, uh, on the previous hole, it was a
Speaker:par three. He was getting a pop. He made like a 25
Speaker:footer for par. It was unreal. Meanwhile, the guy
Speaker:had already made birdie. So Steve made this
Speaker:monstrous putt to have the hole. We're going into
Speaker:the last hole. I don't know if we were tied or
Speaker:what it was, but we really needed to win the
Speaker:match. And uh, I missed that putt to have it. And
Speaker:Steve was like, man, you know, if you'd have made
Speaker:that, we'd have been in for sure. And I was like,
Speaker:yeah, I know that, dude. But listen, I'm not going
Speaker:to take that. You know, I should have made it. So
Speaker:we get up to the little tent and we're all kind of
Speaker:nervous Nellies looking around scene. And we got.
Speaker:We won a flight by a point and a half or whatever
Speaker:it was. I don't know. It's point.
Speaker:>> RB: See, you're in the horse race.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, so Adart and Eric somehow get into this
Speaker:shootout for the shootout, this tie breaking
Speaker:thing. Meanwhile, the team they were playing was
Speaker:already in because of some random shit. So they
Speaker:were playing this team. If they beat them, they
Speaker:were in. But the team that they were playing was
Speaker:in regardless. Kind of weird.
Speaker:>> RB: Mhm.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: There are three teams. So there are three teams
Speaker:playing Adart. It goes all three freaking holes,
Speaker:dude. It took like an hour and a half to watch
Speaker:these three groups. Yuck it up on the golf course.
Speaker:Adart, knee, get in. So the first hole of the
Speaker:shootout, I drive the ball, absolutely block it
Speaker:right? We get up there, it's under a tree, okay.
Speaker:And we're getting a stroke here on this par four.
Speaker:Steve's getting a pop. So we're popping. I'm
Speaker:looking at this ball. I go, Steve, you can't hit
Speaker:it forward. You'd have to hit it left handed. You
Speaker:got to hit it backwards. Meanwhile, he's. He's
Speaker:kind of. He's been drinking all day. I'll just say
Speaker:that he's not drunk, but he's. He's absolutely
Speaker:been drinking it all day. So you know, big Steve,
Speaker:he gets under the trees, got to kind of duck down
Speaker:with a little wedge. We got to clear the crowd out
Speaker:because everyone's back there. We're coming back,
Speaker:we're coming back. So he gets over the ball and
Speaker:goes to hit it and fucking whiffs it. It stays
Speaker:right there. So I'm like, oh God. All right, I'm
Speaker:gonna hit it out now, Steve. I'm going straight
Speaker:out. All right. So I get out in the fairway. So
Speaker:we're hitting four from 205 hits five iron pin
Speaker:high, 25ft. It was. I could not.
Speaker:It was brilliant. So cozy to putt up. We tap in,
Speaker:we make six, six for five, fives move on. So we go
Speaker:to the next hole and then it was we didn't miss a
Speaker:shot from there. Alternate shot. I drove, he laid
Speaker:up. I wedged in there real tight. He missed the
Speaker:putt. Next hole, he hit a beautiful drive down the
Speaker:fairway. I wedged it up on the green. He hit a
Speaker:great putt. Tap in. Done. Next hole, the last
Speaker:hole, we're in the middle of the fairway. I lay up
Speaker:with a six iron. Meanwhile, these other guys. One
Speaker:guy's long of the green, and the other guy comes
Speaker:up short in the bunker. Steve's up now with his
Speaker:approach shot. He hits it perfect over the bunker
Speaker:about, uh, 20ft. Putting up the hill for birdie. I
Speaker:go to him, I say, hey, man, I said, we're going to
Speaker:win this damn thing. Because Larry and Mo are
Speaker:screwed in the bunker, and the other people could
Speaker:three putt that easily. There's no way that a par
Speaker:is a given that some bitch made it from the back,
Speaker:man, uh, in the fringe, well into the fringe, not
Speaker:just off the green. He was probably five yards
Speaker:into the fringe. Rolls it down the hill, bending
Speaker:right, and it went in. It was awesome. Everyone
Speaker:was stoked. Everyone's screaming, clapping, you
Speaker:know, yucking it up, blah, blah, blah. So needless
Speaker:to say, I missed the putt, and, uh, we lost. We
Speaker:came to second place. But Steve, um, text me
Speaker:Sunday. He's like, that's how you make a putt on
Speaker:18. I'm like, all right, bud. Next year. All
Speaker:right. We did all right, though. I mean, we
Speaker:cleaned up a little bit of cash, uh, for winning
Speaker:the Flight, obviously, you know, played well, but
Speaker:it was great, man. Adart was on the grill again
Speaker:this year.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, there are some videos circulating of him, um,
Speaker:and his putts in the shootout.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Buddy, he didn't know where he was. When I tell
Speaker:you that he didn't know where he was, I'm telling
Speaker:you, he did not know where he was. He had no clue
Speaker:where he was. He had a four footer, five feet,
Speaker:five footer. He hit it two and a half feet, boys.
Speaker:Everyone did this big sigh, like, uh. And Adart
Speaker:just looks up like he didn't know what he just
Speaker:did. He's like, did I make it? We're like, no, he
Speaker:didn't say that, but it looked like he was
Speaker:thinking that, like, what did I just do? Or did it
Speaker:go in? So Eric's fricking mad, you know, and then,
Speaker:um, I think that's the whole. They were out on.
Speaker:They made it to the second hole, but the first
Speaker:playoff, the first hole, Adar did the same thing.
Speaker:That's when Eric threw his club into the ghost
Speaker:tree. And he was like, I'm done with this. And
Speaker:then next thing you know, they got, they advanced,
Speaker:they got in. They made six for five. They made six
Speaker:for five. Um, so they got in to the next hole.
Speaker:But, um, it was great.
Speaker:>> RB: It's good to catch up with the boys. How's he
Speaker:doing?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: He's great. You know, doing the, doing the thing
Speaker:at Titleist. I guess new drivers are going to be
Speaker:rolling out maybe sooner than expected. Uh,
Speaker:whether or not that's the case or not, or whether
Speaker:or not I'm allowed to say that or not, I don't
Speaker:know. But reading between the lines, that's what I
Speaker:gather for the new Titleist clubs, uh, that are
Speaker:coming out in 26. Um, all the other boys, Chippy,
Speaker:Sean, Reggie, the whole crew of people. Hank and
Speaker:John and everyone, man, everyone's freaking
Speaker:awesome. Dave.
Speaker:>> RB: Everyone's living, huh?
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Everyone's great, dude. It's the same people.
Speaker:Witty. I mean, Mary, Mary came over to the house
Speaker:every morning and had coffee with us at 5am She's
Speaker:a sweetheart. She's a g. Uh, we stayed in a house
Speaker:that was beautiful. Come to find out the guy that
Speaker:owns the house, there's all these pictures of
Speaker:Tiger woods hitting off this rooftop in Dubai.
Speaker:Like this helicopter pad.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And this guy was a part of that company that
Speaker:commissioned Tiger to do it. Now he's, now he's
Speaker:responsible for the sphere in Vegas. So this house
Speaker:is pretty dope. And Marcus, uh, Mariota goes out
Speaker:there quite a bit and stays at that house. So it's
Speaker:pretty cool, right? On the golf course overlooking
Speaker:the high desert, but had a great time. Dude, dude.
Speaker:Eric and Steve planned this skit when we landed in
Speaker:Bend because if you recall, last year, Eric forgot
Speaker:his clubs in a show up. He didn't forget. They
Speaker:didn't show up. So we're coming out of the
Speaker:airport, me and Adard already went to the car.
Speaker:We're loading up the bags here. Come eat. Here
Speaker:comes Ian peering, walking towards us, and they're
Speaker:mumbling shit to each other. And I'm like, what's
Speaker:going on, man? I said, you lost your clubs again?
Speaker:And Eric's like, yep, but this fucking guy is in a
Speaker:rush to get out of here and won't let me go talk
Speaker:to the counter.
Speaker:And Steve's like, whatever, dude. He's like, I
Speaker:told you right now we got a tee time at 2:20 or
Speaker:some shit like that. Like, we don't have time for
Speaker:this. Just Call him back later. He's like,
Speaker:whatever, Whatever, Steve. And they're going back
Speaker:and forth, and I'm going, guys, just calm down
Speaker:here. We just landed, like, relax. And Eric goes,
Speaker:bash, why don't you tell Steve what you told told
Speaker:me about him? Like, you don't even want to play
Speaker:with him anymore. I was like, I didn't say that.
Speaker:What are we doing here? And, uh, then Steve's
Speaker:like, do you say that? I'm like, no. And then I'm
Speaker:like, what the fuck is going on here? And then
Speaker:they go, just kidding. He shipped his club. Ship
Speaker:sticks. We good? I'm like, you guys, you guys,
Speaker:they set this whole thing up.
Speaker:>> RB: This is the way to go, bud.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: The best part is Adart said he knew about it but
Speaker:forgot about this skit. So he was getting worried,
Speaker:too.
Speaker:>> RB: Well, uh, uh, I was with Adart the night before at
Speaker:the Eric Church concert, and my man was tuned up a
Speaker:little bit, so. And then you proceeded to show me
Speaker:a photo of him sitting next to Eric on the plane.
Speaker:And it looked like Eric had his son next to him.
Speaker:First, um, class.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Oh, my God. Well, you know, you talk about people
Speaker:with. With airplane etiquette. I mean, I'm sitting
Speaker:there. The first part of the flight, Pat. Ah, this
Speaker:is hilarious. The first part of the flight from
Speaker:Pittsburgh to Denver. I'm sitting in row 1A. He's
Speaker:on, like, 1C. There's a guy sitting next to me in
Speaker:a suit that was checking in in front of me. So I
Speaker:heard that he was going to Singapore. Going to
Speaker:Singapore. So I'm talking across the aisle to
Speaker:Adar. Adar's telling me all these stories, and,
Speaker:you know, I'm trying to be respectful of this guy.
Speaker:We haven't even pushed back yet, so we're just
Speaker:talking. So finally the guy says, he says, hey. He
Speaker:says, uh, is this going to go on the whole trip
Speaker:here?
Speaker:>> RB: No, he didn't.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And I said. He said, well, because I'm an
Speaker:introvert, okay? I got a lot of work to catch up
Speaker:on. I said, oh, that's right. Yeah. I said, you're
Speaker:headed to Singapore. And he was like, you know,
Speaker:how the fuck did you know I'm headed to Singapore?
Speaker:I said, listen, uh, I said I was respectful. I
Speaker:said, I get it, man. I said, we're just buddies.
Speaker:He said, why don't you go take that open seat next
Speaker:to him? This way you guys could talk. And then
Speaker:this guy got upgraded to come up and let him sit
Speaker:in your seat, and we'll be good And I said, great
Speaker:idea. That's what I'll do. So I moved over. So
Speaker:basically the guy in the suit kicked me out of my
Speaker:suit. Yeah. He said, he's like, is this gonna
Speaker:happen all the time? Whatever. And then Adart
Speaker:proceeded to talk my ear off, too. So anyways, uh,
Speaker:it was a win. Win for everyone.
Speaker:>> RB: There you go, bud. And you guys, you guys play
Speaker:second in the shootout and made some money, and
Speaker:you had a good old time. So Steve has hope for you
Speaker:for next year. That's the mortal of the story.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yes.
Speaker:>> RB: And we're going to see Steve tomorrow. We're all
Speaker:playing Steve.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's right. I cannot wait to get up there. I
Speaker:told my dad, you change your.
Speaker:>> RB: Shoes in the locker room, but all right, I will.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Uh, I was talking my dad, and he's all, he playing
Speaker:golf this week, yada, yada. I said, yeah, I'm
Speaker:gonna go up to Pep's place on. On Friday. He said,
Speaker:the Moose Club. I said, I'll beat the Moose Club,
Speaker:baby.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, we'll hit around. Actually, I was. I was
Speaker:Monday, Um, I was working out. I went over at
Speaker:like, 5:15 in the morning. Worked out, come back
Speaker:at like 6:15. I'm like, that's weird. There's,
Speaker:like, a car driving to the golf course. It looked
Speaker:like there was an SUV driving through Yuck's golf
Speaker:course. I don't know if they were, like, damaging
Speaker:the court. I don't know. So we'll see you on
Speaker:Friday. But just played it off the tire, right?
Speaker:They were there probably before that guy got
Speaker:there, so you'll be fine.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Hey, um. I'm proud of you, dude. I saw your blood
Speaker:work came back. You're pretty stoked about your
Speaker:cholesterol, your levels, all the work. With your
Speaker:diet. Yeah, with your diet. See that?
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's got to feel good, man.
Speaker:>> RB: It feels great. Now, if I can just eat a little
Speaker:better, then we'd really be on track. But, uh,
Speaker:it's. That's pretty hard when you're traveling a
Speaker:lot. But the travels will be coming down. I'm
Speaker:three weeks from not traveling anymore, so we'll
Speaker:be able to hone that in. And. But yeah, man. And
Speaker:again, I'm not doing a lot. I'm just the
Speaker:treadmill. Hitting the treadmill a lot. Nine
Speaker:incline. You sent me that. I picked the speed up
Speaker:every week. I go from three and a half miles per
Speaker:hour to. To, you know, three, six the next week,
Speaker:and then just. And then get to nine. Nine and a
Speaker:half incline. And you're just burning it for 30
Speaker:minutes. You burn it, dude.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: There's a couple things every day that when you.
Speaker:When you intertwine it within your regime or your
Speaker:daily routine, whatever you call it, you know,
Speaker:there's a couple things every day that, like, I
Speaker:cannot go without. And one of those things is
Speaker:going to the gym.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Whether it's to. To run, to stretch, to do abs, to
Speaker:lift or whatever. Uh, it's a. It's a non
Speaker:negotiable for me. The second thing that I've been
Speaker:getting back into is this early morning reading.
Speaker:Reading in the morning. Like 5:15, 5:30, 5:00am
Speaker:like before the day gets going, you sit there. I
Speaker:don't even look at my phone.
Speaker:>> RB: When I get the coffee.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Exactly. And it might only be. Dude, I'm telling
Speaker:you, Pep. It might only be for 20 minutes, but for
Speaker:those 20 minutes, you're getting.
Speaker:>> RB: The brain woke up a little bit.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: You're firing on all cylinders. You're spiritually
Speaker:connected to the world at that point. Like, it's
Speaker:great. And I think more people need to do that,
Speaker:dude. Especially what we've seen over the last
Speaker:month. It's just ridiculous.
Speaker:>> RB: And. And I'm not going to get into that too much,
Speaker:that whole thing. Um, all I want is everybody to
Speaker:get along, man. I don't care. You're left, right,
Speaker:middle. Just all respect each other's lives. I
Speaker:mean, we're talking about lives here. Um, so that.
Speaker:Yeah. I mean, I don't want to get too political on
Speaker:this show.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Well, we're not getting political, but we're.
Speaker:You're allowed to say things. And the point being
Speaker:is that no one's life is worth it. It's not worth
Speaker:it, so. Because if someone has an opinion. Yeah. I
Speaker:mean, just get along with it.
Speaker:>> RB: Like you think, hey, if you want to think that
Speaker:way, go for it. You have every right in this world
Speaker:to think that way, and I have every right to think
Speaker:the opposite. And that's how it should be.
Speaker:Um, I'm looking forward to the next episode that
Speaker:we have. We have Tyler Reeve. We did an interview
Speaker:live in person with him at the West Virginia
Speaker:Children's Hospital event. Yeah, I think it's a
Speaker:great episode that's going to be dropped after
Speaker:this one. Um, and good job to you on the event,
Speaker:bud. There's a couple things I would change, but
Speaker:it was pretty good.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: So. Tell, tell. Well, I want your feedback, by the
Speaker:way. Wow. Uh, but I think it's hilarious that you.
Speaker:No one knows. You and I are like brothers and
Speaker:you're sitting there in a golf cart, and I'm
Speaker:talking to the people, and you're like, you're
Speaker:dogging me, dude.
Speaker:>> RB: I said. I said to the guy next to me, I said, I
Speaker:mean, I've heard enough of this guy. I said, is
Speaker:this like the Ryan Bash, our show? Going to listen
Speaker:to him talk the whole time and this guy's looking
Speaker:at me like, man, you are a clown. And meanwhile,
Speaker:I'm just joking around, but I didn't tell him I
Speaker:was joking because I'm like, that's who I am. So,
Speaker:um. But you guys did a great job. It was for a
Speaker:great cause, and hopefully you guys raised a lot
Speaker:of m. A lot of cash for the hospital. But I do
Speaker:have some ideas for you.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Okay, I'm. I'm all ears. I'm going to commission
Speaker:you on that.
Speaker:>> RB: So.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: But yeah, man. So this weekend, you know, we're
Speaker:hitting the first weekend of October, man. You and
Speaker:I get to play a little G tomorrow.
Speaker:>> RB: Um, Steve, Pierre, Brandon.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: It'll be great. So be great, man.
Speaker:>> RB: It'll be a blast. Piering will probably end up
Speaker:going somewhere else in the country, but whatever.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Like, oh, yeah, I got a roll here, but it'll be
Speaker:good, man. And it's always good getting back on
Speaker:the mics with you, dude. I know it's been a
Speaker:minute, but feels good. It's all good. It's all
Speaker:good, you know? It's all good. So good football on
Speaker:this weekend, guys. I know we like to talk about
Speaker:that stuff a little bit from time to time to the
Speaker:season, but, um, dude, I tell you what, man. Vori
Speaker:is dropping some sick swag right now, dude.
Speaker:>> RB: Sick.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Like, I. There's no doubt about it that I have in.
Speaker:In line with you as well. Shifted my taste from
Speaker:Lululemon for workout apparel to Vuori. Yes, it's.
Speaker:>> RB: Yes, it's just night. It's night and day.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And the drops that Viori just has now on the reg
Speaker:with these colors and just very tonal. Exactly.
Speaker:>> RB: And that's you. And I'm. I've. I've. As I've
Speaker:gotten older, I've kind of gotten to that little
Speaker:tonal. The grays, the blacks, the blues, so good.
Speaker:But, man, they just dropped this fleece jacket
Speaker:that is sick. And I kind of want it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, I think I saw that in the. In the. I know.
Speaker:Every. Every day I feel like they're dropping
Speaker:something, man.
Speaker:>> RB: I love it.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Speaking of dropping, dude, we need to drop some
Speaker:of these TE's. I know everyone's Been loving these
Speaker:swinging easy te's. I know. I. I sure have been.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, we've gotten a lot of feedback, so maybe it
Speaker:is something we do.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Maybe we'll put a little. Maybe we put a little
Speaker:hoodie out with it. You know, some more colorways.
Speaker:>> RB: We'll end up giving them away, but.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: We'll give them away, but, uh, at least we'll have
Speaker:them. That's something to talk about.
Speaker:>> RB: So without further ado, everybody go out. Have a
Speaker:great weekend. You'll probably hear us next week
Speaker:with Tyler Reeve, or maybe the week after,
Speaker:whatever it is. We have an episode with for you
Speaker:with Tyler Reeve coming up, and, uh, trying to say
Speaker:something nice to everybody that you run into. If
Speaker:you want to talk to somebody, say something nice
Speaker:to them. Hey, you look nice. The shirt looks good
Speaker:on you.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: That's right.
Speaker:>> RB: Try to be kind. Love each other. All right.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Everyone's trying, you know, everyone's battling.
Speaker:>> RB: Make sure you go over to chasing underscore
Speaker:birdies and like us.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: Yeah, and do that, too, if you like us.
Speaker:But real talk, guys, it was awesome tuning in
Speaker:today, at least from my perspective. I had a great
Speaker:time here talking.
Speaker:>> RB: Yeah, it's great.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: And hopefully you guys had a great time listening,
Speaker:because, you know, it's easy to listen to, but we
Speaker:always appreciate the love that we get from y' all
Speaker:out there tuning in. So we hope you have a great
Speaker:first October weekend of the year and maybe play a
Speaker:little G, watch some football. But need to thank
Speaker:our boys and girls over at Simpler Media, Ali,
Speaker:Emily Evo for putting this thing together.
Speaker:Jacqueline de Paterio, Rachel London. By the way,
Speaker:Rachel just got married.
Speaker:>> RB: Congratulations, Rachel.
Speaker:>> Jonathan: She might not be London anymore, but, uh, chasing
Speaker:birdies in life, that's what we're doing, guys.
Speaker:You guys have a great, blessed weekend, and we
Speaker:will catch y' all next week.
