Speaker A

Welcome to Love Notes, Rhonda.

Speaker A

And today I want to ask you, frankly, what is the one thing you must get done this year or you are going to kick yourself in the butt?

Speaker A

So we have how many days left of the year?

Speaker A

25.

Speaker A

26.

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

We don't have that many left.

Speaker A

So I am a date person.

Speaker A

You may not be, but I'm a date person.

Speaker A

And I cannot tell you how many things I've surrendered and let go in the last three months of the year, specifically in the last weeks of the year.

Speaker A

So right now, I'm on high alert to all the things that no longer serve me.

Speaker A

I'm on a high alert to all the tolerances in my life.

Speaker A

I'm on high alert to the things that just don't work for me, whether it's a drawer, whether it's a piece of clothing.

Speaker A

I threw a dress away today, by the way.

Speaker A

I had it on yesterday and I looked at it when I was wearing it.

Speaker A

I'm going like, this does not work.

Speaker A

And it's like, okay, well, is it something to give away or something to throw away?

Speaker A

Right.

Speaker A

Something to give away?

Speaker A

Something to throw away.

Speaker A

Which one?

Speaker A

Right?

Speaker A

And I just decided, no, it had this tear and this thing, and there's little things here and there.

Speaker A

And I'm like, nope, I'm gonna throw it away.

Speaker A

So when I took it off last night, I threw it away because I am not gonna put it back in my closet.

Speaker A

So there are things in my life that I am not gonna tolerate anymore.

Speaker A

When I looked at my office recently, I was like, you know what?

Speaker A

I love the way my office looks.

Speaker A

I think it's great and awesome.

Speaker A

Until now, right?

Speaker A

I had all these beautiful things up that people had made me and poems they'd written for me and all these beautiful things.

Speaker A

And it just made me feel so good.

Speaker A

And I had all my crosses up.

Speaker A

Cause I click crosses.

Speaker A

I just had all these things up that I just really cherish.

Speaker A

And then I went into my office a few weeks ago and I went, you know what?

Speaker A

This is too much for me.

Speaker A

I can't.

Speaker A

It is not supporting me to write.

Speaker A

It is not supporting me to have a blank slate around me in order to write all these things that I love.

Speaker A

I love gonna take em down.

Speaker A

So I took down every cross.

Speaker A

I took down every poem, which is like, if you know me, that's like a.

Speaker A

What?

Speaker A

What do you mean you took down the poems?

Speaker A

Don't worry, I've got an idea for them.

Speaker A

But I took down some things that people had given Me, that again.

Speaker A

I love these things.

Speaker A

I'm not getting rid of them.

Speaker A

I want to put them up somewhere.

Speaker A

But right now, I got to have a clean, clean walls in my office so that I can think more clearly.

Speaker A

So I took every single thing down, except one thing that is more natural, more muted.

Speaker A

And I painted every wall.

Speaker A

Yes.

Speaker A

I got my paintbrush out and I crossed my fingers that my can of paint that I had, you know, from a year ago was.

Speaker A

Would still work, and hallelujah, it did.

Speaker A

And I filled up all the nail holes, right?

Speaker A

All the nail holes.

Speaker A

And I sanded and did the whole thing.

Speaker A

And now when I go in my office, there are only two things on the wall.

Speaker A

One, this piece of cloth, ruggish thing.

Speaker A

I don't remember what they're called, you know, rug art.

Speaker A

And then a piece of wood with a mirror on the back.

Speaker A

And the office is just.

Speaker A

All my walls are empty except that, right?

Speaker A

And I just.

Speaker A

I'm like, oh, I can breathe.

Speaker A

I can breathe now.

Speaker A

Remember, I loved my office.

Speaker A

I loved those things.

Speaker A

I've had them up for, gosh, 10, 15 years and gave me such pleasure.

Speaker A

But where I am at this moment in my life is no clutter.

Speaker A

I went through my clutter cupboards.

Speaker A

I went through my drawer.

Speaker A

I did so many things.

Speaker A

So those are the things in my home that I've been doing.

Speaker A

But what about in my heart?

Speaker A

Or what about in my mind?

Speaker A

Or what about projects?

Speaker A

What about things I want to do, tasks I want to complete, dreams I want to make happen?

Speaker A

Well, I've been taking a piece of paper and being ruthless.

Speaker A

Like, okay, I've only got three and a half weeks left of this year.

Speaker A

What is reasonable?

Speaker A

What is actionable?

Speaker A

What can I get my team on board for?

Speaker A

What can the team do together?

Speaker A

What is mine to do alone?

Speaker A

What is realistic?

Speaker A

And what also not only just realistic, but pushes me a little bit and wait a minute.

Speaker A

What do I want to do around the holidays?

Speaker A

Do I want to take some days off?

Speaker A

I usually have many days off during the holidays blocked off.

Speaker A

And sometimes I do big projects during that time.

Speaker A

So I'm asking you to really think.

Speaker A

And I know I've been saying this a little bit over the last few months, right?

Speaker A

I've been kind of knocking on this door for a while, but I really want us to get on top of.

Speaker A

Okay, we have three and a half weeks left, gang.

Speaker A

What are you gonna do?

Speaker A

What aren't you gonna do?

Speaker A

What are you gonna take off your plate and say, I'm not doing, not doing it.

Speaker A

It's going to next year.

Speaker A

And what is it that's got to get done this year or you are going to kick yourself?

Speaker A

You are going to be.

Speaker A

Ugh.

Speaker A

You're gonna kick yourself.

Speaker A

Well, I don't want you to kick yourself.

Speaker A

I want you to be realistic, yet ambitious, yet gentle.

Speaker A

Right?

Speaker A

There's that combination of how do you be gentle but yet honor your ambition and your purpose and your passion and be realistic about your time and ask for support.

Speaker A

Right?

Speaker A

All these things.

Speaker A

See, we need all these skills.

Speaker A

We need to be able to ask for help.

Speaker A

We need to be able to say no.

Speaker A

We need to be able to say yes.

Speaker A

We need to push ourselves and we need to relax.

Speaker A

We need to be able to do all.

Speaker A

Because all those things we need moment by moment in our lives.

Speaker A

So the question is, what if you do not get done the next three and a half weeks, are you going to kick yourself for.

Speaker A

Well, write it down.

Speaker A

Create a plan and do it.

Speaker A

Do it.

Speaker A

If that means cutting out a dream, if that means cutting out a person, if that means cleaning out your closet, if that means making action on a dream that you put aside over and over again, whatever it is, it's time.

Speaker A

It's your time.

Speaker A

So let's do this.

Speaker A

Until next time, be fearless.

Speaker A

I love you.
