Speaker ABrad Miller.

Speaker ATo make it understandable, we give you some points to ponder, to think about to make it relatable, and we offer you a question or a way to apply it to your life to make it applicable.
Speaker AIt's all brought to you by voiceofgoddaily.com that is the place where you can find the daily where you can find the ABC 1, 2, 3 Bible Study Guide which is going to help you with your own Bible study.
Speaker AWe have a mission here of getting the audible word of God into 2 million years million people by 2028.
Speaker AWe do so by daily reading from the Revised Common Lectionary wherein year C, the Easter tide season.
Speaker ALet's get into now our reading of the Scripture for the day from Revelation 10.
Speaker AReading from the Message I saw another powerful angel coming down out of heaven, wrapped in a cloud.
Speaker AThere was a rainbow over his head, his faith.
Speaker AHis face was sun, radiant, his legs pillars of fire.
Speaker AHe had a small book open in his hand.
Speaker AHe placed his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land.
Speaker AThen he called out thunderously a lion roar.
Speaker AWhen he called out, the seven thunders called back.
Speaker AWhen the seven thunders spoke, I started to write it all down, but a voice out of heaven stopped me, saying, seal with silence the seven thunders.
Speaker ADon't write a word.
Speaker AThen the angel I saw astride sea and land, lifted his right hand to heaven and swore by the one living forever and ever who created heaven and everything in it, earth and everything in it, sea and everything in it.
Speaker AThat time was up.
Speaker AThen when the seventh angel blew his trumpet, which he was about to do, the mystery of God and all the plans he had revealed to his servants, the prophets, would be completed.
Speaker AThe voice out of heaven spoke to me again.
Speaker AGo take the book held open in the hand of the angel astride sea and earth.
Speaker AI went up to the angel and said, give me that little book.
Speaker AAnd he said, take it, then eat it.
Speaker AIt will taste sweet like honey, but turn sour in your stomach.
Speaker AI took the little book from the angel's hand and it was sweet as honey in my mouth.
Speaker ABut when I swallowed, my stomach curdled.
Speaker AThen I was told, you must go back and prophesy again over many peoples and nations and languages and kings.
Speaker AAll the images from the Revelation are full of imagery.
Speaker AAnd this indeed is the case here in this reflection where we explore this mysterious revelation that speaks about divine timing, prophetic responsibility and the complexities of truth telling.
Speaker ASo let's get into some points to ponder.
Speaker AThe first has to do with the environmental justice in Sacred Vision.
Speaker AThe angel standing with one foot in the sea and one foot in the land presents a powerful image of the interconnectedness of all creation in our time of climate crisis.
Speaker AThis vision reminds us that environmental justice is inseparable from spiritual faithfulness.
Speaker AThe rainbow over the angel's head echoes God's covenant with all creation from Genesis, suggesting that care for our planet remains central to divine concern.
Speaker AThe second has to do with the complexity of truth.
Speaker AThe experiences of the book tasting sweet but turning bitter in the stomach speaks to the complex nature of prophetic truth.
Speaker AOften what seems appealing at first glimpse becomes challenging when fully digested.
Speaker AThis mirrors many progressive Christians journey of deconstructing and reconstructing faith and initially very difficult but ultimately transformative.
Speaker AThe third thing is about speaking truth to power.
Speaker AThe command to prophesy again over many peoples and nations and languages and kings reminds us that speaking truth to power is an ongoing responsibility in our era of global inequity and systematic injustice were called to persistent prophetic witness even when it's uncomfortable or costly.
Speaker ALet's talk about an action step for the day.
Speaker AChoose some sort of environmental justice issue impacting your local community or your state or even the country or the world and research its impact on marginalized populations and find an organization that's working to address it.
Speaker ACommit some sort of concrete action this week.
Speaker AMaybe it's getting on a mailing list.
Speaker AMaybe it's participating in some sort of a forum or maybe attending a meeting or sharing work with others.
Speaker ASome steps that you can take to participate further.
Speaker AWe'll close with a prayer here in a moment.
Speaker AJust a reminder that we have a great resource just for for you.
Speaker AIt's called the ABC 1, 2, 3 Bible Study Guide.
Speaker AIt will help you make your Bible study just, just like this.
