Hello, everybody.
Speaker AWelcome back to Adult Child of Dysfunction.
Speaker AToday with we are doing Tammy's Takes number five, where we break down what our guests teach us about trauma, resilience and how we actually come back to ourselves.
Speaker AToday I'm going to be discussing the episode that we did with Kelly Kinney yesterday.
Speaker AAbsolutely amazing episode.
Speaker AAnd an absolutely amazing young woman, if you have not heard the episode, highly suggest you go back and listen to it.
Speaker AShe is all magical and all fairy energy and she talks about all fire and the rituals and.
Speaker ABut she talks about truth.
Speaker AAnd she kept saying something that stuck with me really, really, really hard.
Speaker AAnd it was a very clear truth.
Speaker AShe said she didn't find herself.
Speaker AShe remembered herself.
Speaker AAnd I want you to let that sit for a minute.
Speaker AShe remembered herself, didn't make a new self, didn't find herself.
Speaker AShe remembered herself.
Speaker ASo I want to talk about what that really means because I hear it all the time.
Speaker AI just need to find myself.
Speaker AI don't know who I am anymore.
Speaker AI feel lost.
Speaker ABut here's the truth.
Speaker AYou're not lost.
Speaker AYou know who you are.
Speaker AYou're just disconnected from that person.
Speaker AAnd here's how that happens.
Speaker AKelly actually talked about it really well.
Speaker AShe shared from a very young age how she didn't have that stable mothering energy.
Speaker AShe had trauma.
Speaker AShe had to figure things out on her own.
Speaker ASo what did she do?
Speaker AShe learned to trust herself.
Speaker AShe learned to trust her instincts.
Speaker ANot perfectly, not without mistakes, but she kept coming back to what feels right for me.
Speaker AShe questioned everything, but that was the main question.
Speaker AWhat feels right for me?
Speaker ABecause so many of us are waiting for the clarity.
Speaker AWe're waiting for someone to tap us on the shoulder and be like, hey, by the way, this is your purpose.
Speaker AWe're waiting for that great big aha moment.
Speaker ABut it doesn't work like that.
Speaker AYou actually have to connect first.
Speaker AThen comes the clarity.
Speaker ANot before.
Speaker ANot before.
Speaker ADidn't happen for me.
Speaker ADidn't happen for Kelly.
Speaker AIt didn't happen for any of us.
Speaker AKelly did not wake up one day and just say, but, Ching, I'm going to have this, create this beautiful, magical life.
Speaker ANo.
Speaker AShe made small, aligned choices over and over again.
Speaker AAnd she talks a lot about those choices.
Speaker AShe watched what she was putting in her body and only fed herself good food.
Speaker AShe watched how she was living.
Speaker AShe left the environments and the people that didn't feel right or that were toxic for her.
Speaker AAnd she followed what lit her up.
Speaker AAnd even when she went off track, even when she slipped, because that is part of healing My friends, that is part of connecting.
Speaker AThat is part of learning.
Speaker AEven when those things happen, when she slipped into addiction or she slipped into an unhealthy relationship, she still continued to come back to herself.
Speaker AAnd a lot of people miss that.
Speaker AA lot of people get off track and they think, oh, I'm done.
Speaker ABut no, healing is not a straight line.
Speaker AIt's remembering and forgetting and coming back and leaving and relearning over and over and over again.
Speaker AKelly even talked about a time where she had created something absolutely beautiful.
Speaker AAnd then she was so overwhelmed that she lost herself again.
Speaker AShe stopped taking care of herself again.
Speaker AShe pushed people away.
Speaker AShe went back to her old patterns.
Speaker ABut instead of staying there, she sat with herself.
Speaker AAnd what did she ask herself?
Speaker AWhat is true for me now?
Speaker AAnd she rebuilt again.
Speaker ASo what does remembering yourself actually look like?
Speaker AIt's not complicated.
Speaker AWe make it complicated.
Speaker AIt really just looks like getting back into your body, learning to breathe, slowly, slowing down, going outside, feeling something real.
Speaker AShe put it so simply when she literally said, just go hug a tree.
Speaker AAnd it.
Speaker AIt.
Speaker AIt really.
Speaker AOh, my goodness, it made so much sense.
Speaker AI know people hear that and they laugh, but let me put it in.
Speaker ALet me translate.
Speaker ALet me put it in layman's terms for you.
Speaker AGet out of your head and back into your body, because your body knows who you are before your mind starts overthinking and analyzing everything.
Speaker ASo if you are feeling disconnected right now, you are going to do something, but you're not going to try to fix your whole life.
Speaker AYou're going to start simple.
Speaker AStart with this.
Speaker ATake five deep breaths.
Speaker APut your feet on the ground.
Speaker AGet out in nature.
Speaker ATouch something real.
Speaker ATree, grass, air, sunlight.
Speaker AI don't care what it is.
Speaker AAnd while you're doing that, I want you to ask yourself, what actually feels good right now?
Speaker ANot what should feel good.
Speaker ANot what someone else told you feels good, but what feels good to you in your soul.
Speaker ABecause the real takeaway is, guys, you don't need to become someone new.
Speaker AYou need to come back to who you already are.
Speaker ABefore the trauma, before the conditioning, before the expectations, before people tried to rewrite your story for you.
Speaker AJust come back to who you are.
Speaker AAnd always, continually and forever ask your question.
Speaker AThat question.
Speaker AWhat feels good for me right now?
Speaker AWhat do I need right now?
Speaker ASo ask yourself that today.
Speaker AAnd if this episode is resonating with you, please, and you're realizing you're sitting there thinking, wow, I've been disconnected from myself for a very long time.
Speaker AI want you to take this next step with me.
Speaker AHead on over to my website.
Speaker AIt's just my name, Tammy Vincent.
Speaker ADot com.
Speaker AListen to my webinar awakening your authentic self, because that's exactly what we're talking about here.
Speaker ANot becoming someone new, but remembering who you were before the world told you who to be.
Speaker AWe're going to talk about boundaries.
Speaker AWe're going to talk about the myths, about healing.
Speaker AWe're going to talk about all kinds of different things, but we're going to talk about coming back to the real you.
Speaker AAnd if you know somebody that could also use this information, please share it with someone.
Speaker APlease.
Speaker ABecause you're not lost, my friends.
Speaker AYou're really just coming home to yourself.
Speaker AAnd I think that's what we need to do.
Speaker ASo I will see you back in the next.
Speaker ATammy takes.
