Speaker A

Hello, everybody.

Speaker A

Welcome back to Adult Child of Dysfunction.

Speaker A

Today with we are doing Tammy's Takes number five, where we break down what our guests teach us about trauma, resilience and how we actually come back to ourselves.

Speaker A

Today I'm going to be discussing the episode that we did with Kelly Kinney yesterday.

Speaker A

Absolutely amazing episode.

Speaker A

And an absolutely amazing young woman, if you have not heard the episode, highly suggest you go back and listen to it.

Speaker A

She is all magical and all fairy energy and she talks about all fire and the rituals and.

Speaker A

But she talks about truth.

Speaker A

And she kept saying something that stuck with me really, really, really hard.

Speaker A

And it was a very clear truth.

Speaker A

She said she didn't find herself.

Speaker A

She remembered herself.

Speaker A

And I want you to let that sit for a minute.

Speaker A

She remembered herself, didn't make a new self, didn't find herself.

Speaker A

She remembered herself.

Speaker A

So I want to talk about what that really means because I hear it all the time.

Speaker A

I just need to find myself.

Speaker A

I don't know who I am anymore.

Speaker A

I feel lost.

Speaker A

But here's the truth.

Speaker A

You're not lost.

Speaker A

You know who you are.

Speaker A

You're just disconnected from that person.

Speaker A

And here's how that happens.

Speaker A

Kelly actually talked about it really well.

Speaker A

She shared from a very young age how she didn't have that stable mothering energy.

Speaker A

She had trauma.

Speaker A

She had to figure things out on her own.

Speaker A

So what did she do?

Speaker A

She learned to trust herself.

Speaker A

She learned to trust her instincts.

Speaker A

Not perfectly, not without mistakes, but she kept coming back to what feels right for me.

Speaker A

She questioned everything, but that was the main question.

Speaker A

What feels right for me?

Speaker A

Because so many of us are waiting for the clarity.

Speaker A

We're waiting for someone to tap us on the shoulder and be like, hey, by the way, this is your purpose.

Speaker A

We're waiting for that great big aha moment.

Speaker A

But it doesn't work like that.

Speaker A

You actually have to connect first.

Speaker A

Then comes the clarity.

Speaker A

Not before.

Speaker A

Not before.

Speaker A

Didn't happen for me.

Speaker A

Didn't happen for Kelly.

Speaker A

It didn't happen for any of us.

Speaker A

Kelly did not wake up one day and just say, but, Ching, I'm going to have this, create this beautiful, magical life.

Speaker A

No.

Speaker A

She made small, aligned choices over and over again.

Speaker A

And she talks a lot about those choices.

Speaker A

She watched what she was putting in her body and only fed herself good food.

Speaker A

She watched how she was living.

Speaker A

She left the environments and the people that didn't feel right or that were toxic for her.

Speaker A

And she followed what lit her up.

Speaker A

And even when she went off track, even when she slipped, because that is part of healing My friends, that is part of connecting.

Speaker A

That is part of learning.

Speaker A

Even when those things happen, when she slipped into addiction or she slipped into an unhealthy relationship, she still continued to come back to herself.

Speaker A

And a lot of people miss that.

Speaker A

A lot of people get off track and they think, oh, I'm done.

Speaker A

But no, healing is not a straight line.

Speaker A

It's remembering and forgetting and coming back and leaving and relearning over and over and over again.

Speaker A

Kelly even talked about a time where she had created something absolutely beautiful.

Speaker A

And then she was so overwhelmed that she lost herself again.

Speaker A

She stopped taking care of herself again.

Speaker A

She pushed people away.

Speaker A

She went back to her old patterns.

Speaker A

But instead of staying there, she sat with herself.

Speaker A

And what did she ask herself?

Speaker A

What is true for me now?

Speaker A

And she rebuilt again.

Speaker A

So what does remembering yourself actually look like?

Speaker A

It's not complicated.

Speaker A

We make it complicated.

Speaker A

It really just looks like getting back into your body, learning to breathe, slowly, slowing down, going outside, feeling something real.

Speaker A

She put it so simply when she literally said, just go hug a tree.

Speaker A

And it.

Speaker A

It.

Speaker A

It really.

Speaker A

Oh, my goodness, it made so much sense.

Speaker A

I know people hear that and they laugh, but let me put it in.

Speaker A

Let me translate.

Speaker A

Let me put it in layman's terms for you.

Speaker A

Get out of your head and back into your body, because your body knows who you are before your mind starts overthinking and analyzing everything.

Speaker A

So if you are feeling disconnected right now, you are going to do something, but you're not going to try to fix your whole life.

Speaker A

You're going to start simple.

Speaker A

Start with this.

Speaker A

Take five deep breaths.

Speaker A

Put your feet on the ground.

Speaker A

Get out in nature.

Speaker A

Touch something real.

Speaker A

Tree, grass, air, sunlight.

Speaker A

I don't care what it is.

Speaker A

And while you're doing that, I want you to ask yourself, what actually feels good right now?

Speaker A

Not what should feel good.

Speaker A

Not what someone else told you feels good, but what feels good to you in your soul.

Speaker A

Because the real takeaway is, guys, you don't need to become someone new.

Speaker A

You need to come back to who you already are.

Speaker A

Before the trauma, before the conditioning, before the expectations, before people tried to rewrite your story for you.

Speaker A

Just come back to who you are.

Speaker A

And always, continually and forever ask your question.

Speaker A

That question.

Speaker A

What feels good for me right now?

Speaker A

What do I need right now?

Speaker A

So ask yourself that today.

Speaker A

And if this episode is resonating with you, please, and you're realizing you're sitting there thinking, wow, I've been disconnected from myself for a very long time.

Speaker A

I want you to take this next step with me.

Speaker A

Head on over to my website.

Speaker A

It's just my name, Tammy Vincent.

Speaker A

Dot com.

Speaker A

Listen to my webinar awakening your authentic self, because that's exactly what we're talking about here.

Speaker A

Not becoming someone new, but remembering who you were before the world told you who to be.

Speaker A

We're going to talk about boundaries.

Speaker A

We're going to talk about the myths, about healing.

Speaker A

We're going to talk about all kinds of different things, but we're going to talk about coming back to the real you.

Speaker A

And if you know somebody that could also use this information, please share it with someone.

Speaker A

Please.

Speaker A

Because you're not lost, my friends.

Speaker A

You're really just coming home to yourself.

Speaker A

And I think that's what we need to do.

Speaker A

So I will see you back in the next.

Speaker A

Tammy takes.
