I'm Cedric and This is your EM morning brief for this Veterans Day 11 November 2025 A sharp early season cold snap drives freeze and hard freeze warnings before Daybreak across the SoutheastGeorgia, north Florida, southeast Alabama and parts of the Carolinas, followed by a sunny but cool day around the Great Lakes.

Lake effect bands taper through this morning after localized heavy snow and even thundersnow yesterday, leaving slick roads for the commute in favored belts of Michigan, northern Indiana and northeast Illinois.

High winds ease across portions of the Northern Rockies and High Plains after overnight warnings, but another winter system targets the Sierra mid week Winter storm watches are posted for the eastern Sierra slopes late Wednesday through Friday with significant mountain snow and travel impacts likely on the passes farther south.

Critical fire weather returns today for South Central and South Texas.

Red flag warnings are in effect.

Arizona Northern Arizona Fire managers prep for prescribed burning north of Williams starting Wednesday, November 12th.

Pending conditions, expect smoke near the North Kaibab Highway 64 corridor.

Crews will ignite only with favorable weather and will monitor lines.

California Winter storm watches are up for the eastern Sierra slopes late Wednesday night through Friday morning periods of whiteout above 6 to 7,000ft.

Meanwhile, dense fog is possible early this morning over parts of the coastal waters and valleys in San Diego's area.

Florida Freeze warnings and cold weather advisories cover the Panhandle and Big Bend at daybreak with wind chills down to the upper teens in colder inland spots.

Marine small craft advisories ease later this morning as winds and seas subside.

A second freeze is possible Wednesday morning for parts of the Panhandle and southeast Alabama.

Georgia A widespread freeze is underway through mid morning for metro Atlanta and much of north central Georgia, followed by another freeze late tonight into Wednesday morning for portions of the area.

Wind chills in the teens are possible early Illinois Lake effect snow that dumped locally significant totals and produced thundersnow near Lake Michigan Monday diminishes this morning, but patchy blowing drifting may still slick up roads for the commute in northeast Illinois.

Indiana Northern Indiana remains under impacts from overnight lake effect snow, with NWS noting gusts to 30 mph nearer Lake Michigan that can cause drifting and hazardous travel this morning even as bands weaken.

Michigan Southeast Michigan saw its first winter event of the season with synoptic snow followed by lake effect bands.

NWS keeps a focus on slick roads early today and areas of low cloud ceilings.

Missouri FEMA opens mobile disaster recovery centers this week across 7 Southeast Cape Girardeau, New Madrid, Oregon Ozark Scott Shannon and Washington to help survivors of the March 30 April 8 severe storms.

All sites close today for Veterans Day.

Operations resume Wednesday with varying hours.

IDAHO and documentation Montana High wind warnings overnight for portions of north central Montana taper this morning after peak gusts through the Bear Paws and and adjacent plains.

Nevada Northern Sierra and western Nevada mountains head into a winter storm window late Thursday into Friday.

NWS Reno highlights accumulating snow and gusty ridge winds.

NEW Mexico Cibola National Forest reports successful weekend ignitions on two prescribed 1,343 acres on the Espinosa Mountainaire Rd.

NORTH Carolina Freeze warnings greeted daybreak across portions of central and eastern North Carolina with sub freezing temperatures ending by mid morning.

Oregon Central Oregon continues pile burning operations near Bend Crescent, Two Rivers and Crescent Lake Junction.

Expect localized smoke and short term traffic visibility reductions near work areas.

Critical fire weather today across south central and South Texas.

Red flag warnings run generally 9am to 6pm with low humidity and gusty southerly winds.

Laredo specifically shows a red flag from 10am to 6pm Wyoming high wind warnings early this morning for the Laramie Range and adjacent foothills are slated to expire by late morning.

Still strong crosswinds continue in wind prone gaps.

All other states have no significant updates in the last 24 hours.
