Speaker CI want you to walk away from.
Speaker BToday with some fresh, actionable ideas to bring more positivity into your life, even.
Speaker CWhen things feel a bit overwhelming.
Speaker BBecause let's be real.
Speaker CLife can sometimes have its challenges, right?
Speaker BAnd that doesn't change just because we're 50 or older.
Speaker BHeck, sometimes it might add to the challenges.
Speaker CMaybe you're juggling health changes, family dynamics.
Speaker BOr a shifting career landscape.
Speaker CI've been through a few of those myself, and I get how it feels.
Speaker BTo just want some calm amidst the storm.
Speaker BBut staying positive doesn't have to be this big, unattainable thing.
Speaker CToday, I'll show you how it's possible.
Speaker BTo bring positivity into your life, even on the hard days.
Speaker BSo grab a cup of coffee, tea, or whatever fuels you, and let's get into it.
Speaker BFirst off, let's ground this conversation.
Speaker BIn reality, positivity isn't about being happy all the time.
Speaker BIt's not about ignoring life's challenges or putting on a fake smile.
Speaker CIt's about choosing how you respond to.
Speaker BLife'S ups and downs.
Speaker BI think of positivity as a muscle.
Speaker BThe more you work it, the stronger it gets.
Speaker BI remember a time recently when I was balancing work, family, and my side hustle, and there were days when it became a lot.
Speaker BI became overwhelmed, and I just wanted to crawl under a blanket and just stay there.
Speaker BI wasn't feeling particularly positive, but I.
Speaker CStarted focusing on small shifts, little things.
Speaker BThat I could do differently, and moments where I could choose joy, even if everything else felt overwhelming.
Speaker BThat's how positivity works.
Speaker BIt's about finding those moments not expecting every day to be perfect.
Speaker BLet's start with something fun and doable.
Speaker BNothing too heavy, I promise.
Speaker BTip number one is micro adventures.
Speaker BNow, you might be wondering, what on earth is a micro adventure?
Speaker BValerie?
Speaker BWell, it's exactly what it sounds like.
Speaker BIt's tiny, spontaneous moments of adventure that you can fit into your day and.
Speaker CBefore you think you need to book a flight to have an adventure.
Speaker BHold on.
Speaker BI do this sometimes when I feel like life is getting a little too routine.
Speaker BFor example, a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker CI decided to take a completely new.
Speaker BRoute home just to shake things up a bit.
Speaker CI found this cute little coffee shop.
Speaker BThat I had never noticed before, and.
Speaker CIt ended up being the perfect place.
Speaker BTo unwind and reflect.
Speaker BIt was a small change, but it brought something different to my day, and.
Speaker CIt also showed me a new route.
Speaker BThat I could take if traffic gets heavy.
Speaker CI know this might sound small, but.
Speaker BThe idea is to break up your.
Speaker CRoutine and to inject a little novelty.
Speaker BEven if it's just trying a different coffee spot or exploring a new part of town.
Speaker CIt's all about adding that sense of.
Speaker BExcitement, no matter how small.
Speaker BI tend to climb the walls when I'm doing the same thing, the same routine, day in and day out.
Speaker BI think that's one reason that the.
Speaker CCOVID quarantine, it just really wore on me.
Speaker CNow the next tip is near and dear to me.
Speaker BThe positivity partner system.
Speaker BI have a friend who I would call my positivity partner.
Speaker BWe often text each other something positive.
Speaker CMaybe a small win, or just something that made us smile.
Speaker CAnd let me tell you, this really works.
Speaker CI remember one day when everything just seemed to be going wrong.
Speaker CMy friend sent me a message reminding me of something good that I had.
Speaker BDone earlier in the week, and it completely shifted my perspective.
Speaker CSometimes we just need that nudge from someone who sees the good when we can't see it.
Speaker CIf you have somebody in your life.
Speaker BThat you can do that with, then I highly recommend it.
Speaker BIt creates a sense of accountability and adds a bit of fun to your day.
Speaker BTip number three is something that I swear by positive priming.
Speaker CNow let me explain.
Speaker CI'm a huge believer in the idea.
Speaker BThat our environment influences our mood.
Speaker CSo I make sure that my surroundings.
Speaker BAre filled with things that lift me up.
Speaker BFor example, I have a playlist that I call my feel good, get hyped mix.
Speaker BAnd whenever I'm feeling a bit low, I put it on and like magic.
Speaker CIt helps me to refocus.
Speaker BMusic always soothes my soul, and when I add a little dance into it, girl, it makes everything better.
Speaker CI also keep photos of my loved.
Speaker BOnes and a few of my favorite motivational quotes kind of scattered around my work workspace.
Speaker BAnd I have motivational stickers on my work laptop.
Speaker BThese things, they work like positive triggers, and they remind me to stay upbeat.
Speaker CEven when my to do list feels.
Speaker BLike it's a mile long.
Speaker BIf you have maybe a corner of your house or your office that needs a little sprucing up, try filling it.
Speaker CWith things that make you smile.
Speaker BIt makes a huge difference.
Speaker BOkay, now this one is super practical, and it's something that I use often.
Speaker BIt's called the five second reset.
Speaker CYou know those moments when you feel.
Speaker BFrustration is bubbling up or something just doesn't go your way.
Speaker CThis is a simple tool to use in those times.
Speaker BI'll give you a real example.
Speaker BJust last week I had one of those days.
Speaker CEverything seemed to go wrong.
Speaker BI was stuck in traffic, late for a meeting, getting more and more irritated.
Speaker BInstead of letting that negativity take over, I used my five second reset.
Speaker BI took a deep breath and I thought, you know what?
Speaker BThere could be a reason why I'm stuck in traffic.
Speaker BMaybe being stuck in traffic prevented me from being involved in an accident.
Speaker CWho knows?
Speaker BBut it wasn't worth getting myself all worked up over, and I just took.
Speaker CThe meeting from my car.
Speaker BHeck, I was already sitting in traffic, so why not make the most of the time, right?
Speaker CThat tiny moment of pause helped me.
Speaker BStop the spiral of frustration and reset my mood.
Speaker BThe idea is to stop yourself just.
Speaker CLong enough to focus on something positive in your surroundings.
Speaker BWhether it's a sound, a sight, or a kind thought.
Speaker BTrust me, it works.
Speaker BAnd here's another one with a twist.
Speaker BThe 1 minute gratitude walk.
Speaker BNow, I know we've all heard about.
Speaker CGratitude list, and you know I talk.
Speaker BA lot about gratitude journals, but I sometimes like to take take it a.
Speaker CStep further by adding movement.
Speaker BI'll give you an example from my own life.
Speaker BI have this little routine where I.
Speaker CWalk around my yard or even sometimes inside the house.
Speaker BI'll make this circle downstairs the morning, and during that time, I spend the first minute thinking about what I'm grateful for.
Speaker BIt could be as simple as the fact that I have this beautiful space to enjoy, or even just that I.
Speaker CHad a great cup of coffee that morning.
Speaker CAdding movement just kind of really amps up the effect.
Speaker BIt gets me moving.
Speaker BIt helps me start the day thinking of something positive versus what's on my to do list.
Speaker BAnd it's a quick way to boost my mood.
Speaker BYou don't need a lot of time for this.
Speaker BAll you need is 1 minute.
Speaker BNow let's talk about journaling.
Speaker BMy favorite topic.
Speaker BOne day I'm gonna create a journal, but in the meantime, here we go.
Speaker BI keep a standard gratitude journal as well as one where I just vent.
Speaker BAnd when I say vent, I let.
Speaker CIt all out, which can feel really good.
Speaker BBut I realized that sometimes I want, or shall I say I need to focus more on what I did each day that brought positivity into my life.
Speaker BFor example, last week I wrote down that I had taken time to help.
Speaker CA stranger with something small.
Speaker BIt wasn't a big deal, but the act of helping someone made me feel great.
Speaker BFocusing on the actions that I take, whether it's helping someone or just treating myself kindly, it's been really helpful.
Speaker CI encourage you to try it.
Speaker BInstead of just writing down your thoughts, jot down the positive actions that you've taken each day.
Speaker BIt'll make you realize how much good.
Speaker CYou'Re really putting out there.
Speaker CAnd lastly, this is one that I do every week.
Speaker BThe positivity reframe.
Speaker BOnce a week, I think about something that didn't go as planned.
Speaker CIt's so easy to dwell on those.
Speaker BMoments, but now I try to reframe them.
Speaker BSo let me give you an example.
Speaker BI'm not good at having to wait for others to provide me with information or to review something that I've submitted in my nine to five.
Speaker BIt's very fast paced and decisions are made quickly for the most part, so I'm accustomed to working at that pace.
Speaker CRecently, I found myself in this situation where I'm waiting to hear back from.
Speaker BSomeone and so that I can move forward or adjust or pivot whichever direction.
Speaker CI need to go.
Speaker BI just need to go there when I say it's annoying the crap out of me.
Speaker BAnd if I'm being really honest, I've.
Speaker CBeen frustrated because waiting is throwing me.
Speaker BOff of my self imposed schedule.
Speaker BBut then I realized the delay.
Speaker CIt's given me extra time to refine.
Speaker BMy ideas, to get some other things.
Speaker CDone, and to get better organized for.
Speaker BWhen I do start working on this project.
Speaker BThat's what I mean by a reframe.
Speaker BThe key is to find the silver lining in these tough moments and to shift your perspective.
Speaker BIt's a great way to keep a positive outlook, even when things don't go perfectly.
Speaker BAll right, my friend, there you have it, seven unique, actionable ways to bring more positivity into your life every day without the fluff.
Speaker CNow here's my challenge to you this week.
Speaker BTry one of these tips.
Speaker BWhether it's going on a micro adventure, starting a positivity partner check in, or practicing that five second reset, see how it shifts your energy.
Speaker BRemember, positivity isn't about being perfect.
Speaker BIt's about creating moments of joy, no matter how small.
