Speaker C

So it is important, which is why we've got Helen on.

Speaker C

So welcome, Helen.

Speaker C

Hi, how are you?

Speaker C

Yeah, good, thank you.

Speaker C

Good, good.

Speaker C

Usually you listen to these, but now you're on.

Speaker A

I know, I know.

Speaker A

Well, I happened to be on like a week off, so I was like, yay, let's do it.

Speaker C

Just before we jump into sort of the importance of websites, why don't you just give everyone a little bit of a background on you and what it is that you do alongside the website and then we'll get into like the nitty gritty stuff of the website side.

Speaker A

Yeah, of course.

Speaker A

So I was a teacher for 15 years, but about two years ago, I just decided that that was enough then moving on.

Speaker A

So last summer, at September time, I opened my own dog grooming business, Love to Paws, based down in Kentucky.

Speaker A

Um, I've been really lucky.

Speaker A

I've been.

Speaker A

It's kind of taken off and it's going great.

Speaker A

But I was massively when I started the business, wanted to start doing everything right and I needed a website and I wanted to get out there, get my SEO and make sure that I was attracting as many customers as I possibly could.

Speaker A

Um, initially I had some help to build a website.

Speaker A

Well, a friend was going to build it and then couldn't last minute.

Speaker A

So someone sort of helped.

Speaker A

And they weren't in the pet grooming industry.

Speaker A

They weren't sort of in the dog world effectively either.

Speaker A

And it really was, in my own personal opinion, not the best.

Speaker A

It didn't really kind of highlight what I wanted people to know about and the benefits.

Speaker A

So I designed my own and I loved it and I kind of was like, well, why can't I do this to help other people and I've had lovely opportunity to do that for a few other people since.

Speaker A

And, you know, the feedback's been great and it's been wonderful to work with people on an individual basis creating bespoke websites for them in their business.

Speaker A

So.

Speaker A

So that's where it's kind of come from.

Speaker A

And I run it then beside like alongside my job grooming business too.

Speaker C

Fabulous.

Speaker C

So there we go, you see.

Speaker C

And I always think, like, people say, oh, I don't know what to do start like starting a business wise.

Speaker C

And I think there's knowledge there, you've just got to sort of tap into it.

Speaker C

And obviously from a website design side you've gone, right, that's crap, I'm going to do it myself.

Speaker C

Found the love and realized he can do it because not everyone can do it.

Speaker C

Like I said to you before we came live, I'm absolutely useless when it comes to technology.

Speaker C

Um, I just, I just don't know how to do anything.

Speaker C

So again, I would rather pay someone to do that because I can't do it.

Speaker C

And there's like a business idea and it's quite easy to think of.

Speaker C

I think people put too much pressure on themselves and it's like you've got the knowledge there.

Speaker C

Not everyone has that knowledge that you have.

Speaker C

So there's always a business opportunity.

Speaker C

So it's fab that you've sort of done that alongside the grooming.

Speaker C

And like we were saying before as well, because you are a groomer and you've, you're in the industry, it's a lot easier for you then to provide something for other groomers that's going to be correct and right and, and for the industry because, like, yeah, absolutely, yeah.

Speaker A

And I think we know he will know as groomers, but when you're in it, you learn so much and there's so many things that we do and create and obviously offer to customers and things, but unless you're in that industry, you don't know it.

Speaker A

And it's sort of, you know, we were just mentioning before even about teeth cleaning, for example.

Speaker A

But which, you know, which one do you use?

Speaker A

How do you sell it?

Speaker A

Do you offer different, you know.

Speaker A

Yeah, starter packages, etc.

Speaker A

And, but unless you kind of are in that industry, you wouldn't even think to think that it would just be, what, dog teeth cleaning?

Speaker A

What on earth is that kind of thing?

Speaker C

Fees.

Speaker C

Look, the people who say certain things like what?

Speaker A

Yeah, you're a bit odd.

Speaker A

Like really, you want a whole page on teeth, cleaning your dog's teeth, like, so I think that's.

Speaker A

That helps as well because you kind of.

Speaker A

You build that so much and again, make it bespoke to how people work, what they want, what they're trying to get people involved in and their customers and to teach them what they want to do and can add as many elements or as few as they want.

Speaker A

I mean, that's the, that's the beauty of being able to do it bespoke.

Speaker C

To yourself and it makes it a much smoother process because you're not going to have to go backwards and forwards.

Speaker C

Like, if you went for a sort of general website designer because you know the industry.

Speaker C

So like I said, with the teeth cleaning and the different packages and everything that they offer, you're not going to have to go backwards and forwards and say, well, what's Emmy pet?

Speaker C

Like, what's this?

Speaker C

What's that?

Speaker C

So it sort of eradicates all of the to and fro.

Speaker C

And from a time perspective for the client, it's a lot and a lot quicker because you're not having that to and fro.

Speaker A

No, exactly.

Speaker A

And it's very much like this, like precise questions needing precise information that they'll be suddenly like, oh, yeah, she gets it kind of thing.

Speaker A

That's the way it is, as you said, rather than going backwards and forwards and trying to explain it and if someone doesn't know, they.

Speaker A

It's really hard to explain it.

Speaker A

So, yeah, it does definitely, definitely make a massive difference.

Speaker C

It's the same with us from an accountancy perspective.

Speaker C

Like, people say, you know, I can go to a local accountant, like, well, you can, absolutely.

Speaker C

But is your local accountant going to know everything that you do?

Speaker C

Like, if you, if you were to give your accountant like your bank statement or your spreadsheet and you've got stuff like Emipet or Christie's or the fact that you've bought those mozzaret things for when you're doing a husky for whatever, you know, they're not going to understand why you've got all that stuff there and they either may send you 25,000 emails going, what's this?

Speaker C

What's this?

Speaker C

What's this?

Speaker C

What's this?

Speaker C

Or they might not put it in and then you've missed out on that expense because they've gone mossy hat net.

Speaker C

Oh, they must have bought that for holiday and just not put it in.

Speaker C

Yeah, it might only be 25 quid, but all that stuff adds up.

Speaker C

So having someone that can do a bespoke surface for the industry that you win has massive benefits in itself.

Speaker C

So you need to get a website and that's what I think we need to touch on as well, because a lot of people don't have websites and I think with social media, and we were just chatting before the fact that we can't go live now in a Facebook group, the videos get removed after 30 days because it changes so much.

Speaker C

And Facebook could just decide, actually, no one's having a business page or we're just going to remove all of the business groups or we're going to now start charging.

Speaker C

And imagine if you're only on Instagram or Facebook and they disappear, like, what else have you got to rely on?

Speaker A

And I think part of the problem is as well, like people have a really good presence on Facebook and Instagram, but people have to follow you to see your content.

Speaker A

So if people aren't following you, then you're not getting out there, you're not getting the reach that you want or the sort of the diversity.

Speaker A

Whereas with a website, you.

Speaker A

It's your shop window, effectively 24 7.

Speaker A

And it's out there.

Speaker A

And if you've, if it's been SEO'd and it's popping up on Google, people only even have to put Google, like a dog groomer near me.

Speaker A

And if you're on their right and you've got viewing your website, you'll come out top.

Speaker A

So therefore that you're more likely to get people clicking, even if they might be 20 miles away and they might think it's too far.

Speaker A

But others, I've got people who come 20, 30 miles to me, then they found me on the, on my website.

Speaker A

Then they see your website because it's great, you can showcase what you do, not only your services but you, you're selling yourself like you've got photos of you, images of you.

Speaker A

If there's a story behind the business and people buy into that, but they're not going to know that via Facebook and Instagram unless they're following you.

Speaker A

Whereas a website gives you way more reach and it offers you opportunities to work with others, backlink into each other's and then it gets you out there further and wider.

Speaker A

So it's, it really, really is like massively important just to give your business the best start.

Speaker C

Yeah.

Speaker C

And also Facebook and Instagram can only show so much.

Speaker C

Whereas at least with the website you can, you can build a lot on there and it's all at one place.

Speaker C

And you're right, if you Google like dog rumor near me.

Speaker C

If you.

Speaker C

No One, whenever they Google anything goes past the first page.

Speaker C

I don't anyone that goes gets to the bottom and goes, oh, next page.

Speaker C

I believe anyone goes onto page two of Google.

Speaker C

So you're not showing up at the top.

Speaker C

You're gonna miss all of those clients that might not necessarily go on Facebook or Instagram.

Speaker A

You don't know, dare I say it's the slightly older generation who they're then on Facebook and Instagram Clients tell you because you say, oh, give me a follow now your dog's been, oh, I'm not on it.

Speaker A

Get my grandson or whatever to follow.

Speaker A

But a website they find because they see your name or they hear about it word of mouth and instantly nowadays people go on and look for a website.

Speaker A

Like, if you don't have a website, a lot of people are, I'm not going to bother.

Speaker A

You know, there's something about a website that you're.

Speaker A

It's professional, it's showing that there's more to the business than just a Facebook page or a social media.

Speaker A

You're putting yourself out there effectively.

Speaker C

And we get a lot of traffic through our website.

Speaker C

We do obviously Facebook and Instagram, but we have the website.

Speaker C

And even when we've just gone on a TikTok against my will, but I get false to do it.

Speaker C

We're also getting people on TikTok that have never seen us before because they're not on Instagram or Facebook.

Speaker C

So again, it's about hitting those different demographics of people and making sure you cover all bases because at some point they may well disappear and then nothing.

Speaker C

But I don't think they can stop websites, but they can pull Facebook and Instagram and TikTok and then you're left with nothing.

Speaker C

Like you said, your website is your shop front.

Speaker C

You've got to make people walk in and that's where getting someone to do it for you so it looks professional and it looks right because again, you could come up number one and then someone clicks on it and goes, oh my God, that website.

Speaker C

Shit, I'm oh, let me go on to the next one.

Speaker C

But they do look, even when I've been looking for like various jobs, I go on the website and if the website looks crap, I'll just go on to the next one.

Speaker A

And sometimes, you know, like there's a lot of information and some of them are really great, but it's just streams and streams and you just scroll and scroll and scroll and scroll and it gives you a headache and you're like, I can't gonna leave, I Can't do it anymore.

Speaker A

And, but even simple things like your contact, contact me form or whatever you have, you know, you can make sure that there's deliberate questions and you have to have that information so you know the message, but the email address, the phone number, the name.

Speaker A

But then you're also capturing data from every single person that sends you something that you can add to your sort of portfolio and then you can reach out to them.

Speaker A

So even if they've done it after a few drinks on a Saturday night and forgotten they've done it, you've still got it on Monday morning.

Speaker A

So you reach out and they're like, oh yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, the dog needs grooming, but it puts you in control of that.

Speaker A

You can contact them rather than it try and ring you on a Saturday night.

Speaker A

Well, the phone's off obviously because it's the weekend you have any, you know, you don't answer and that's the end of it.

Speaker A

They go somewhere else.

Speaker C

So and people are, I, I'm, I do it myself, I'll ring someone and then I'll go, I'll ring them back and then I never do for like months.

Speaker C

But then when they ring me back, oh yeah, yeah, sorry, I need to get booked in.

Speaker C

So like I say, it's about taking that information then and putting it in a mailing list.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker C

Because then you've got people that you can contact and say, oh, I've got a special offer on nail clipping or whatever, build that mail list again.

Speaker C

It's another avenue that if anything of other these things are going to disappear.

Speaker C

You've still got the mailing list.

Speaker C

Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker C

Anyone that comes into the group, we say like leave us your email address.

Speaker C

Some people do, some people don't.

Speaker C

But at least if that then group disappears, we've still got access to everybody who's given us their email address that we can send offers and things through separately.

Speaker C

So it's about having those different avenues and not just sticking to one.

Speaker C

But yeah, everyone needs to get a website and think of it.

Speaker C

But they do.

Speaker C

And it is important because this again, some people use TikTok, some people use Facebook, some people use a website and you could be missing out on a massive chunk of clients.

Speaker C

And your other dog groomer or dog walker down the road could be on all four platforms just lapping up all the clients, whereas you're just stuck on one and don't have anything like a point of reference for people to go to.

Speaker A

And remember, your website can have links to your TikTok to your Instagram, to your Facebook.

Speaker A

So at the end of the day, they're not missing out if they want to go the social route from the website.

Speaker A

It's all there to click on and, you know, you link it all in, but it's harder to go the other way.

Speaker A

I mean, you can, you know, on Facebook insta, you can have like a tiny thing at the top of, you know, each of your businesses, but people don't tend to click on it, they'll go the other way around.

Speaker A

So, yeah, the website thing is just.

Speaker A

It's a real base.

Speaker A

It's your homepage and you can put on as much as little as you want.

Speaker A

But ultimately, the more you put on and the more you showcase in your brand and everything else, it's just super professional.

Speaker A

People look at it and go, oh, wow.

Speaker A

And then they click on another page and like, I really want my dog to go there.

Speaker A

Like, I really want my dog to be part of this.

Speaker A

And.

Speaker A

And also when you're selling yourself and you've got photos of you, they're like, they know who they're bringing their dog to.

Speaker A

They're their.

Speaker A

Well, baby, you know, we've all got that.

Speaker A

And, you know, they're like, okay, no, it's great.

Speaker A

I know who they're going to.

Speaker A

I know he's going to collect them from the gate or we're going to go in the sun and have a chat.

Speaker A

You can see the salon so you know what it looks like.

Speaker A

There's no surprises.

Speaker A

It's kind of a.

Speaker A

They're buying into something that they can see and then be confident as well when they ring up and say, yep, I'll book in, it's great.

Speaker A

I know what I'm coming to.

Speaker C

And the thing is, when I was looking for a groomer for Frank when I lived down south, the one I picked, and this is before I started the pet count stuff, I went with her because she had a picture of herself on the website and I looked through a few and I went back to hers because I could see her, if that makes sense, whereas the other two weren't as detailed.

Speaker C

And I went.

Speaker C

I think I must have trolled through two or three and then went back to that one because she had the picture of herself and the team and the dogs and stuff.

Speaker C

And it just.

Speaker C

You felt like you sort of knew them more after reading it rather than not having a face on them.

Speaker C

And people are a bit like, I don't know who's going to answer the door.

Speaker A

Yeah, exactly.

Speaker C

It's like taking Your kids, you don't want to just give them to anybody.

Speaker A

No.

Speaker A

And you kind of, you want to know where they're going and you want to kind of buy into something, don't you?

Speaker A

And you want to feel part of something and you can put that across in your website.

Speaker A

Like for me it's apart.

Speaker A

Apart from my business is love to pause.

Speaker A

But it's the love to pause family.

Speaker A

Like you become part of that and you get photos of your dogs afterwards and all these lovely things.

Speaker A

But their dog, then their photos are on the website.

Speaker C

So people like love that, like should always.

Speaker C

I mean, Frank, you did a sausage dog.

Speaker C

All he went into a bath and his nails, she put little bow tie on him every, every time and then had his, had his picture.

Speaker C

I just thought it was great.

Speaker C

And I know, my God, you know, it's silly, but it's not because they like your kids.

Speaker C

And every time I used to love picking them up because they have a little like bow on and he'd look cute as a button.

Speaker C

And honestly, she could have charged me £100 to do that.

Speaker C

And I still would go to her because she would say to me, I'm really sorry, I could have got a prices.

Speaker C

And I'm like, I don't care.

Speaker C

I'm not where else because like, see, once you in, you win for me.

Speaker C

Like you just got to get that person in.

Speaker C

In the door.

Speaker A

Exactly.

Speaker A

And you're selling like as a.

Speaker A

With any website that you're selling, like your business and yourself, you're not just selling a business because when people relate to you, as you said, they buy in and that's it, you know, Whereas they just see a salon and loads and loads of text that isn't broken up and is all kind of.

Speaker A

It's all there, a lot of it, but it's just not clear.

Speaker A

People are like, no, I'd say boring but you scroll and scroll.

Speaker A

Can't find it.

Speaker A

I was going to go to someone else where it's really obvious I can see what I want and I can see the benefits for me and what.

Speaker A

Why she's done this and set this up and I want to be part of that.

Speaker C

Yeah.

Speaker C

It's not as simple as just plonking some words on a.

Speaker C

On a website.

Speaker C

It's got to be thought out.

Speaker C

Like you said, you open to a website and one's just really text heavy and the other one's broken up with pictures.

Speaker C

You're more likely to read that one than you are just a page full of text.

Speaker A

Exactly.

Speaker C

In the World.

Speaker C

But you don't want to read it.

Speaker A

No, exactly.

Speaker A

And even little things.

Speaker A

Like one of the girls I did her website for, it was like, she's got the really cute logo.

Speaker A

But I was like, who is the dog in the logo?

Speaker A

Oh, that's my dog.

Speaker A

And da, da, da.

Speaker A

So we did a section on the inspiration of the business, you know, but that just makes it more personable.

Speaker A

That was.

Speaker A

And she's like, I've never even thought about doing that.

Speaker A

Yeah, but it's huge.

Speaker A

And then pictures of the dog are there.

Speaker A

And again, it makes her look human.

Speaker A

And the fact that I love the dog grooming because of my dog.

Speaker A

That's why I went into this.

Speaker A

And same with mine.

Speaker A

She's all over my website.

Speaker A

But it's.

Speaker A

That is the face of us.

Speaker A

That.

Speaker A

That is what we are.

Speaker A

And again, people like that because as you said, dogs are your babies.

Speaker A

You know, they are family.

Speaker C

It's an extension of you, isn't it, the website?

Speaker C

Like, when I first did the pet accountant one, the first page was the dog's bollocks of accountants with, like, one of the letters missing.

Speaker C

And everyone who read it was like, oh, I liked it because it wasn't like a formal sort of like corporate accountant website.

Speaker C

Like, it was funny that the first page made me giggle.

Speaker C

So I read on and it had pictures of me cock patil who sadly died.

Speaker C

RIP Herbie.

Speaker C

But he was on there, you know, the dogs are on there.

Speaker C

And, you know.

Speaker C

And people have always commented on the website to say, we like it because now we know you, we can see it's your personality.

Speaker C

And it's not like people who expect that an accountant's website to be really formal and just dull.

Speaker C

Whereas I, you know, when we had a copywriter that wrote it, she was like, I'll just gonna write the dog's botlocks of accountants.

Speaker C

And then it was all just funny but informative.

Speaker C

And loads of people come on the website even now just say it.

Speaker C

Like, that's not what we were expecting when we searched for you, but there you go.

Speaker C

That's why I like it, though.

Speaker A

Absolutely.

Speaker A

And it's reflecting you and your personality and that is what a website should be like.

Speaker A

You should open your website and be proud of it because that is putting you out there.

Speaker A

Like, that's what you're doing, that's what you're selling.

Speaker A

If people don't like it, maybe you're not the business for them.

Speaker A

That's fine.

Speaker C

I say people like, you know, we.

Speaker C

We had.

Speaker C

I always say we had A complaint last year, someone Facebook messaged me was like, oh, don't like the fact that you swore on your podcast and I hope you don't speak to your clients like this.

Speaker C

And all this is not very professional.

Speaker C

I just thought, well, don't listen to it then.

Speaker C

Exactly.

Speaker C

Like, you know, you're obviously not the client for us and that's absolutely fine.

Speaker C

If people prefer a corporate accountant, then we are definitely not the ones for you.

Speaker C

But those who don't want a corporate accountant, then, you know, people come to us.

Speaker C

So.

Speaker C

Absolutely.

Speaker C

Sometimes it weeds out the people that you don't want.

Speaker A

Yeah.

Speaker A

And there's enough to go around for everybody for sure.

Speaker A

But it is just nice to know that you're out there and hopefully attracting the right customers because you'll get more of the right customers from that website because they'll have seen what you do.

Speaker A

And a lot of time, if your website looks professional, people will expect to pay more when they ring you up and say, how much does it cost?

Speaker A

You know, like, it totally has a reflection on all of that.

Speaker A

And when you sort of say the price, they're like, oh, yeah, okay.

Speaker A

Yeah, and I've seen your website's beautiful or loved it.

Speaker A

Whereas if you don't have one, I'm not suggesting not having one means you can't charge the prices, but it just is a.

Speaker A

There's not as much contact necessarily with that customer beforehand.

Speaker A

So they might be a bit like, oh, that's a lot.

Speaker A

Because they're not used to seeing your work or what you put out there or, you know, just how you sell yourself.

Speaker C

Yeah, it factors in a lot.

Speaker C

People don't realize how much a website like factors into all of the different scenarios.

Speaker C

But what do you offer?

Speaker C

Let's go through that.

Speaker C

What sort of packages have you got and what can people do or what do they need to do?

Speaker A

Fair.

Speaker A

No, absolutely.

Speaker A

So the way that I work at the moment is I'm.

Speaker A

I use GoDaddy just as a building platform.

Speaker A

Obviously there are lots of different ones out there, but that's my chosen one for the moment.

Speaker A

So you would need to have a domain name, which some people already have, some people don't, but that's basically how you'll appear on the Internet as your business.

Speaker A

So www.whatever you choose.

Speaker A

And you also need to have a hosting package with the provider that you are using.

Speaker A

So for example, for me, you'd need to have a hosting package with GoDaddy.

Speaker A

And I would always recommend it's kind of not the basic one.

Speaker A

It's at least the second one up because it provides and allows you to SEO your website, which will help you get noticed on Google.

Speaker A

The basic ones don't allow that.

Speaker A

So it's kind of a little bit pointless really.

Speaker A

And then so once you've got those sorted then I've got some different packages available.

Speaker A

So maybe you're just starting out, you've got no presence online, kind of.

Speaker A

It is all new.

Speaker A

I can do just a landing page.

Speaker A

So a landing page is like a single page but it would have all your contact details on there, kind of a brief paragraph and picture of your salon, brief paragraph and picture of you, the services you offer, contact me form and then it can link into your Facebook and Insta pages if you want as well.

Speaker A

So it's kind of a great starter really.

Speaker A

At least it gets you out there.

Speaker A

It can then be built on later if you want to upgrade the website.

Speaker A

And it can basically be built behind the scenes.

Speaker A

The landing page will stay published and then the new one's built and it'll be published as a replacement when it's ready.

Speaker A

But that would all be branded your colors.

Speaker A

So once you know your branding and things, your hex codes that can all be added in, it would all be your own images and obviously text wise I can help but obviously I'm not in your head.

Speaker A

So ultimately it's I need you to feed me the information so I make sure it's bespoke to you.

Speaker A

So that would be the sort of a landing page starter package and then you've got either sort of the mid range where you'd have a website for up to five pages.

Speaker A

So you might have like a homepage and about me, maybe a page on your services, a contact me page, maybe like a testimonials and gallery page or something and then obviously it can go further.

Speaker A

So the main package tend to be the ones that people do opt for is the complete package which is like up to 10 pages.

Speaker A

So that's more where the services are broken down into individual pages.

Speaker A

So you've got a page for teeth cleaning, a page for nailing, a page for puppy packages, et cetera, which a lot of people prefer because you can have more information exactly how you break them down.

Speaker A

You can add kind of camera brochures, all that kind of stuff can be added and then you still have like your gallery and testimonial pages.

Speaker A

Some people have added facts pages so they want people to know so they provide the facts and the answers and that can all be incorporated.

Speaker A

So again it's really dependent on what you want as an individual and what you want as a business.

Speaker A

Obviously, the about me can be about you individually or it can be about us if you're a team, so you can introduce the team members.

Speaker A

So again, the wording is all based on you as a business.

Speaker A

What would you prefer?

Speaker A

Do you want it to be about me, do you want it to be about us?

Speaker A

How do you want it to run the entirety and the way that I work with it, once it's all sort of agreed and we're starting, then I would liaise with you the whole way through.

Speaker A

So I would be building it in the background and then say, right, can you go in, have a look at it?

Speaker A

Be brutally honest.

Speaker A

Do you like this?

Speaker A

Do you like that?

Speaker A

If you don't like it, tell me.

Speaker A

Be honest.

Speaker A

It's not my website, it's yours.

Speaker A

And we just change it as many times as it needs to be changed until people are happy.

Speaker A

And then we would publish it when everyone was happy.

Speaker A

So that would be the main bulk.

Speaker A

And then obviously there's the option if people then want to kind of continue going forwards, like on a monthly plan, when I can still update and make changes for them going forwards.

Speaker A

But again, that would be kind of a secondary package after the original.

Speaker C

Do you like the text as well?

Speaker A

I can write most of it.

Speaker A

It just depends what you want.

Speaker A

But obviously it would need some, some input because obviously things like about me behind the scenes.

Speaker A

Yeah, all those kind of things.

Speaker A

You would desperately need somebody's own voice in it.

Speaker A

Like, why have you set this up?

Speaker A

Obviously things like nail clipping, you know, like the services, you can do a brief, but when it comes to maybe things like puppy packages or teeth cleaning, how do you sell them?

Speaker A

Like, if you've got a package, what does that involve?

Speaker A

I would need support and help to make sure that it's like reflective of the business as opposed to just a bog standard.

Speaker A

So I don't want to go down the bog standard route.

Speaker A

Like, that's not.

Speaker A

Because otherwise it's, you know, it's not bespoke.

Speaker A

Then it's not truly you.

Speaker A

And I think that's the point.

Speaker A

But I can definitely help and do a lot in, you know, in the background too.

Speaker C

And how long does it typically take a turnaround time?

Speaker A

I normally try and do for the moment, if I can do with working alongside the cell on about one a month, if I can.

Speaker A

Um, it just depends because it's about 30, 40 hours for a full website.

Speaker C

And I say this well, because you're Going backwards and forwards and there's a lot of tweaking and stuff.

Speaker C

I mean we've still not finished ours four years on.

Speaker C

So that, you know, it's, it's not an easy or quick job and it's.

Speaker A

Always changing going forward.

Speaker A

Like, you know, what you build initially and you publish is lovely.

Speaker A

I mean I update mine all the time and that, that's because I can, but that's all part of it.

Speaker A

And actually the more you then going forward update it, the more it helps pick up on Google because if you stop updating and doing any changes, then you become less noticed and then they goes in the background of.

Speaker A

Or maybe the algorithm algorithms either has it as they close down, have they stopped?

Speaker A

Because it's not changed.

Speaker A

So it's really important to keep it even if it's adding a photo, do you know what I mean?

Speaker A

But something simple keeps that new and fresh and kind of.

Speaker A

Oh yeah, they're active online.

Speaker C

Yeah, we try a blog on but we're just useless at keeping it up to date.

Speaker C

One of the always on the to do list and just gets further down.

Speaker C

We've got a question from the lovely Claire.

Speaker C

Can you help with setting up a shop on a website?

Speaker A

I think it would depend what kind of shop you're looking for, Claire, to be truthful, and obviously which platform you're using and in terms of what you're looking for.

Speaker A

So I'm definitely happy to have a chat with you afterwards if you want, and see if I can help.

Speaker C

Yeah, we'll put Helen's details on the social media platform so that you can contact her directly because sometimes, like, questions might need more probing to find out the answers.

Speaker C

But we've got a shot that's integrated into the website, but I think later to that I've got bloody clear just absolutely easy.

Speaker A

You can sometimes it depends on the hosting plans and all the rest.

Speaker A

So it's a little bit more complicated than just going, yes, hit her up.

Speaker C

Claire, go and go and chat to Helen and see if she can get that sorted for you.

Speaker C

Brilliant.

Speaker C

I mean, thanks so much for coming on and I think I'm hoping that people listen to this because we've rabbit on about websites on podcasts loads because we try and get people to do them and I say to clients, like, please, please, please get a website because like you said, it's your shop front, it's your personality and that's what people buy into.

Speaker C

And I think if you don't have that, you're missing out on it on a chunk of clients.

Speaker C

So we need to get it done, guys.

Speaker C

And I know it's one of those jobs, like getting an accountant that you just put off because you think, oh, no, I don't know how to do it, or I don't know what I'm doing.

Speaker C

Just like I say, speak to Helen, you know, it's worth the investment.

Speaker C

And, you know, websites aren't cheap, but that's because there's a lot of effort and time that goes into building them.

Speaker C

And if you were to contact someone and they said, oh, do your website for a hundred quid or fifty quid, I'd be questioning whether they're going to do you a good website or not.

Speaker C

So, you know, try and save some cash for stuff for the business.

Speaker C

And, you know, a website is a very.

Speaker C

It's the first thing I did, honestly, the first thing I did when I got a bit of money was I got the website done and it was the best thing I ever did because of the amount of people that still come through the website.

Speaker C

Yeah.

Speaker A

The feedback I've had from people who've done them already, like, yes, it is a big investment, but they've got back that investment already by the number of inquiries they've got through the website and the conversions that they've made from it, or even just the numbers and names that they've got from it.

Speaker A

So I appreciate it.

Speaker A

It's a chunk of money, it really is, but it is worth the investment.

Speaker A

And even if you start off with just a landing page, it's starting.

Speaker A

It's getting you online.

Speaker A

It's not as expensive as a full website.

Speaker A

So you get that, you get out there, you start reaping the rewards, getting the bookings, and then you can go, well, actually, now I want to get out there and get the full website done and it can be built, as I said, behind the scenes, but have some sort of digital presence online, because if.

Speaker A

If you're not out there, people won't necessarily find you.

Speaker C

Yeah, stop procrastinating, get it done.

Speaker A

Do it.

Speaker A

September Challenge.

Speaker C

Yes, September Challenge.

Speaker C

I want to see how many people have got a website done.

Speaker C

Can we see if we can change from people's minds?

Speaker C

Like I said, it is expensive, but like I say, you will reap the rewards from it.

Speaker C

I've held off doing TikTok for years and Tegan made me do it and drags me and the team to do these stupid TikToks.

Speaker C

And actually we've had loads of clients off the back of just TikTok, which we wouldn't have had, we hadn't done it.

Speaker C

It's just the same thing.

Speaker C

Get your website up because you will hit a different target market and you'll put yourselves out there.

Speaker C

So please, please, please do that.

Speaker C

And we will be talking about marketing and AI and how that can help at the Expo in November.

Speaker C

The lovely Darren and Jamie will be there.

Speaker C

So please, please, please come along.

Speaker C

The door shut on Sunday for in person tickets and no more will be sold after Sunday.

Speaker C

The doors were closed, there is a couple left.

Speaker C

So please, please, please, if you want to grab one, grab one before Sunday because it's not a. Oh, the doors will close and then reopen.

Speaker C

They will be shut on the 31st of August and that'll be it.

Speaker C

So please grab them and we'll be talking about it there.

Speaker C

Claire has said thank you.

Speaker C

My books are closed for new clients.

Speaker C

Always think I don't need one.

Speaker C

But I guess it's always good to keep your name out there.

Speaker C

Don't do that mistake, Claire.

Speaker C

This is what people do.

Speaker C

Go on fully booked, they don't advertise, they lose client.

Speaker C

And then you have to start the advertising process from the beginning.

Speaker C

Always, always advertise.

Speaker A

Yeah, keep it ticking and your website will work for you in the background.

Speaker A

And even if you're just like accumulating the names and details of people, you can go back to them.

Speaker A

So I can put you on a waiting list.

Speaker A

If someone cancels whatever, you can pop them straight in.

Speaker A

So, yeah, no, definitely we get it pushed into us through our lovely business program.

Speaker A

But don't ever stop advertising and marketing.

Speaker A

You never know when you're going to need extra people.

Speaker C

Exactly.

Speaker C

And if your books are closed and you can't get any new clients, that would signal that your prices need to as well.

Speaker C

Class, we'll be having words after this, so get a bloody website and keep it going.

Speaker C

Because you know, Tegan's mum used to be a dog groomer.

Speaker C

She had two salons and even she said she stopped advertising, she went fat, registered, lost a couple of clothes, client and then have to restart that advertising process again because we're always advertising.

Speaker C

Even when my books are shut, we always advertise because you've got to keep yourself there, otherwise the algorithms drop and then you start again.

Speaker C

Oh, sorry, someone's rang my doorbell.

Speaker C

I thought I had it on mute.

Speaker C

Make sure you guys do it and like I said, make sure you come see us in November.

Speaker C

Bill will be there with a lot of the mentors on this program as well.

Speaker C

So it is going to be a Good.

Speaker C

Good day.

Speaker C

So make sure you are there, otherwise you're going to get fomo.

Speaker C

Oh, there's one more question.

Speaker C

Every time I go, someone adds another question.

Speaker C

Want to go?

Speaker C

Starting the process is scary.

Speaker C

No where to start.

Speaker C

Exactly, Jenny.

Speaker C

I don't have a bloody clue either.

Speaker C

And that's why, speaking to someone, I've.

Speaker A

Been there, I know how it feels.

Speaker A

Like it was only a year ago that I was in your position.

Speaker A

So literally, give me a shout and I will help.

Speaker C

It is daunting, but it should be top of your to do list, I might say.

Speaker C

You've got the benefit of having known the industry as well.

Speaker C

So, yeah, hit her up and just get it done.

Speaker C

Like I said, even if it's just a landing page, at least you've got something for the clients to go to and then go from there and just start there.

Speaker C

So, yes, fabulous.

Speaker C

Right, I will let everyone go.

Speaker C

Thank you so much for joining us.

Speaker C

This will go live on Monday on the podcast and we will put all your details in the group and on Spotify as well.

Speaker C

So if people want to get in touch with you, they can.

Speaker C

And yeah, hopefully it's been useful for everyone.

Speaker C

And thanks very much for your time.

Speaker A

Yeah, no, you're very welcome.

Speaker A

Thank you so much.

Speaker A

And I hope to help as many people as possible.

Speaker C

Fingers crossed.

Speaker C

We're going to.

Speaker C

Maybe we'll do another one like this start of next year and see how many people you've done websites for and see if it's gone over.

Speaker C

Hopefully.

Speaker C

Fingers crossed.

Speaker C

Website.

Speaker C

Brilliant.

Speaker C

Thank you so much, Helen.

Speaker C

Thanks, guys.

Speaker C

And hopefully we'll see you on the 15th of November.

Speaker C

And like I said, get a ticket before the doors close.

Speaker C

And we will catch up next week, maybe on Monday because I'm off on holiday next week and Lee gets scared doing the wrong zones.

Speaker C

Might not be one next week, but if we do do one, it'll be Monday, but we'll catch up with everyone next week.

Speaker C

All right, thanks guys.

Speaker A

Take care.

Speaker A

Bye.
