Speaker CI'm joined by the lovely Helen.
Speaker CToday day, we're going to have, like, little guest special.
Speaker CHelen is going to go through the importance of websites and website design because they are important.
Speaker CYou do need to have one, especially in this day and age with everything changing.
Speaker CSo it is important, which is why we've got Helen on.
Speaker CAnd Helen runs the pet groomer websites, so please check it out.
Speaker CWe will put all the links at the end of this and put them on the group and on the podcast.
Speaker CSo if you do want to check Helen out and you need her services, then please, please, please follow the links and make contact with her and get your website sorted.
Speaker CSo welcome, Helen.
Speaker CHi, how are you?
Speaker CYeah, good, thank you.
Speaker CGood, good.
Speaker CUsually you listen to these, but now you're on.
Speaker AI know, I know.
Speaker AWell, I happened to be on like a week off, so I was like, yay, let's do it.
Speaker CJust before we jump into sort of the importance of websites, why don't you just give everyone a little bit of a background on you and what it is that you do alongside the website and then we'll get into like the nitty gritty stuff of the website side.
Speaker AYeah, of course.
Speaker ASo I was a teacher for 15 years, but about two years ago, I just decided that that was enough then moving on.
Speaker ASo last summer, at September time, I opened my own dog grooming business, Love to Paws, based down in Kentucky.
Speaker AUm, I've been really lucky.
Speaker AI've been.
Speaker AIt's kind of taken off and it's going great.
Speaker ABut I was massively when I started the business, wanted to start doing everything right and I needed a website and I wanted to get out there, get my SEO and make sure that I was attracting as many customers as I possibly could.
Speaker AUm, initially I had some help to build a website.
Speaker AWell, a friend was going to build it and then couldn't last minute.
Speaker ASo someone sort of helped.
Speaker AAnd they weren't in the pet grooming industry.
Speaker AThey weren't sort of in the dog world effectively either.
Speaker AAnd it really was, in my own personal opinion, not the best.
Speaker AIt didn't really kind of highlight what I wanted people to know about and the benefits.
Speaker ASo I designed my own and I loved it and I kind of was like, well, why can't I do this to help other people and I've had lovely opportunity to do that for a few other people since.
Speaker AAnd, you know, the feedback's been great and it's been wonderful to work with people on an individual basis creating bespoke websites for them in their business.
Speaker ASo.
Speaker ASo that's where it's kind of come from.
Speaker AAnd I run it then beside like alongside my job grooming business too.
Speaker CFabulous.
Speaker CSo there we go, you see.
Speaker CAnd I always think, like, people say, oh, I don't know what to do start like starting a business wise.
Speaker CAnd I think there's knowledge there, you've just got to sort of tap into it.
Speaker CAnd obviously from a website design side you've gone, right, that's crap, I'm going to do it myself.
Speaker CFound the love and realized he can do it because not everyone can do it.
Speaker CLike I said to you before we came live, I'm absolutely useless when it comes to technology.
Speaker CUm, I just, I just don't know how to do anything.
Speaker CSo again, I would rather pay someone to do that because I can't do it.
Speaker CAnd there's like a business idea and it's quite easy to think of.
Speaker CI think people put too much pressure on themselves and it's like you've got the knowledge there.
Speaker CNot everyone has that knowledge that you have.
Speaker CSo there's always a business opportunity.
Speaker CSo it's fab that you've sort of done that alongside the grooming.
Speaker CAnd like we were saying before as well, because you are a groomer and you've, you're in the industry, it's a lot easier for you then to provide something for other groomers that's going to be correct and right and, and for the industry because, like, yeah, absolutely, yeah.
Speaker AAnd I think we know he will know as groomers, but when you're in it, you learn so much and there's so many things that we do and create and obviously offer to customers and things, but unless you're in that industry, you don't know it.
Speaker AAnd it's sort of, you know, we were just mentioning before even about teeth cleaning, for example.
Speaker ABut which, you know, which one do you use?
Speaker AHow do you sell it?
Speaker ADo you offer different, you know.
Speaker AYeah, starter packages, etc.
Speaker AAnd, but unless you kind of are in that industry, you wouldn't even think to think that it would just be, what, dog teeth cleaning?
Speaker AWhat on earth is that kind of thing?
Speaker CFees.
Speaker CLook, the people who say certain things like what?
Speaker AYeah, you're a bit odd.
Speaker ALike really, you want a whole page on teeth, cleaning your dog's teeth, like, so I think that's.
Speaker AThat helps as well because you kind of.
Speaker AYou build that so much and again, make it bespoke to how people work, what they want, what they're trying to get people involved in and their customers and to teach them what they want to do and can add as many elements or as few as they want.
Speaker AI mean, that's the, that's the beauty of being able to do it bespoke.
Speaker CTo yourself and it makes it a much smoother process because you're not going to have to go backwards and forwards.
Speaker CLike, if you went for a sort of general website designer because you know the industry.
Speaker CSo like I said, with the teeth cleaning and the different packages and everything that they offer, you're not going to have to go backwards and forwards and say, well, what's Emmy pet?
Speaker CLike, what's this?
Speaker CWhat's that?
Speaker CSo it sort of eradicates all of the to and fro.
Speaker CAnd from a time perspective for the client, it's a lot and a lot quicker because you're not having that to and fro.
Speaker ANo, exactly.
Speaker AAnd it's very much like this, like precise questions needing precise information that they'll be suddenly like, oh, yeah, she gets it kind of thing.
Speaker AThat's the way it is, as you said, rather than going backwards and forwards and trying to explain it and if someone doesn't know, they.
Speaker AIt's really hard to explain it.
Speaker ASo, yeah, it does definitely, definitely make a massive difference.
Speaker CIt's the same with us from an accountancy perspective.
Speaker CLike, people say, you know, I can go to a local accountant, like, well, you can, absolutely.
Speaker CBut is your local accountant going to know everything that you do?
Speaker CLike, if you, if you were to give your accountant like your bank statement or your spreadsheet and you've got stuff like Emipet or Christie's or the fact that you've bought those mozzaret things for when you're doing a husky for whatever, you know, they're not going to understand why you've got all that stuff there and they either may send you 25,000 emails going, what's this?
Speaker CWhat's this?
Speaker CWhat's this?
Speaker CWhat's this?
Speaker COr they might not put it in and then you've missed out on that expense because they've gone mossy hat net.
Speaker COh, they must have bought that for holiday and just not put it in.
Speaker CYeah, it might only be 25 quid, but all that stuff adds up.
Speaker CSo having someone that can do a bespoke surface for the industry that you win has massive benefits in itself.
Speaker CSo you need to get a website and that's what I think we need to touch on as well, because a lot of people don't have websites and I think with social media, and we were just chatting before the fact that we can't go live now in a Facebook group, the videos get removed after 30 days because it changes so much.
Speaker CAnd Facebook could just decide, actually, no one's having a business page or we're just going to remove all of the business groups or we're going to now start charging.
Speaker CAnd imagine if you're only on Instagram or Facebook and they disappear, like, what else have you got to rely on?
Speaker AAnd I think part of the problem is as well, like people have a really good presence on Facebook and Instagram, but people have to follow you to see your content.
Speaker ASo if people aren't following you, then you're not getting out there, you're not getting the reach that you want or the sort of the diversity.
Speaker AWhereas with a website, you.
Speaker AIt's your shop window, effectively 24 7.
Speaker AAnd it's out there.
Speaker AAnd if you've, if it's been SEO'd and it's popping up on Google, people only even have to put Google, like a dog groomer near me.
Speaker AAnd if you're on their right and you've got viewing your website, you'll come out top.
Speaker ASo therefore that you're more likely to get people clicking, even if they might be 20 miles away and they might think it's too far.
Speaker ABut others, I've got people who come 20, 30 miles to me, then they found me on the, on my website.
Speaker AThen they see your website because it's great, you can showcase what you do, not only your services but you, you're selling yourself like you've got photos of you, images of you.
Speaker AIf there's a story behind the business and people buy into that, but they're not going to know that via Facebook and Instagram unless they're following you.
Speaker AWhereas a website gives you way more reach and it offers you opportunities to work with others, backlink into each other's and then it gets you out there further and wider.
Speaker ASo it's, it really, really is like massively important just to give your business the best start.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CAnd also Facebook and Instagram can only show so much.
Speaker CWhereas at least with the website you can, you can build a lot on there and it's all at one place.
Speaker CAnd you're right, if you Google like dog rumor near me.
Speaker CIf you.
Speaker CNo One, whenever they Google anything goes past the first page.
Speaker CI don't anyone that goes gets to the bottom and goes, oh, next page.
Speaker CI believe anyone goes onto page two of Google.
Speaker CSo you're not showing up at the top.
Speaker CYou're gonna miss all of those clients that might not necessarily go on Facebook or Instagram.
Speaker AYou don't know, dare I say it's the slightly older generation who they're then on Facebook and Instagram Clients tell you because you say, oh, give me a follow now your dog's been, oh, I'm not on it.
Speaker AGet my grandson or whatever to follow.
Speaker ABut a website they find because they see your name or they hear about it word of mouth and instantly nowadays people go on and look for a website.
Speaker ALike, if you don't have a website, a lot of people are, I'm not going to bother.
Speaker AYou know, there's something about a website that you're.
Speaker AIt's professional, it's showing that there's more to the business than just a Facebook page or a social media.
Speaker AYou're putting yourself out there effectively.
Speaker CAnd we get a lot of traffic through our website.
Speaker CWe do obviously Facebook and Instagram, but we have the website.
Speaker CAnd even when we've just gone on a TikTok against my will, but I get false to do it.
Speaker CWe're also getting people on TikTok that have never seen us before because they're not on Instagram or Facebook.
Speaker CSo again, it's about hitting those different demographics of people and making sure you cover all bases because at some point they may well disappear and then nothing.
Speaker CBut I don't think they can stop websites, but they can pull Facebook and Instagram and TikTok and then you're left with nothing.
Speaker CLike you said, your website is your shop front.
Speaker CYou've got to make people walk in and that's where getting someone to do it for you so it looks professional and it looks right because again, you could come up number one and then someone clicks on it and goes, oh my God, that website.
Speaker CShit, I'm oh, let me go on to the next one.
Speaker CBut they do look, even when I've been looking for like various jobs, I go on the website and if the website looks crap, I'll just go on to the next one.
Speaker AAnd sometimes, you know, like there's a lot of information and some of them are really great, but it's just streams and streams and you just scroll and scroll and scroll and scroll and it gives you a headache and you're like, I can't gonna leave, I Can't do it anymore.
Speaker AAnd, but even simple things like your contact, contact me form or whatever you have, you know, you can make sure that there's deliberate questions and you have to have that information so you know the message, but the email address, the phone number, the name.
Speaker ABut then you're also capturing data from every single person that sends you something that you can add to your sort of portfolio and then you can reach out to them.
Speaker ASo even if they've done it after a few drinks on a Saturday night and forgotten they've done it, you've still got it on Monday morning.
Speaker ASo you reach out and they're like, oh yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, the dog needs grooming, but it puts you in control of that.
Speaker AYou can contact them rather than it try and ring you on a Saturday night.
Speaker AWell, the phone's off obviously because it's the weekend you have any, you know, you don't answer and that's the end of it.
Speaker AThey go somewhere else.
Speaker CSo and people are, I, I'm, I do it myself, I'll ring someone and then I'll go, I'll ring them back and then I never do for like months.
Speaker CBut then when they ring me back, oh yeah, yeah, sorry, I need to get booked in.
Speaker CSo like I say, it's about taking that information then and putting it in a mailing list.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker CBecause then you've got people that you can contact and say, oh, I've got a special offer on nail clipping or whatever, build that mail list again.
Speaker CIt's another avenue that if anything of other these things are going to disappear.
Speaker CYou've still got the mailing list.
Speaker CYeah, absolutely.
Speaker CAnyone that comes into the group, we say like leave us your email address.
Speaker CSome people do, some people don't.
Speaker CBut at least if that then group disappears, we've still got access to everybody who's given us their email address that we can send offers and things through separately.
Speaker CSo it's about having those different avenues and not just sticking to one.
Speaker CBut yeah, everyone needs to get a website and think of it.
Speaker CBut they do.
Speaker CAnd it is important because this again, some people use TikTok, some people use Facebook, some people use a website and you could be missing out on a massive chunk of clients.
Speaker CAnd your other dog groomer or dog walker down the road could be on all four platforms just lapping up all the clients, whereas you're just stuck on one and don't have anything like a point of reference for people to go to.
Speaker AAnd remember, your website can have links to your TikTok to your Instagram, to your Facebook.
Speaker ASo at the end of the day, they're not missing out if they want to go the social route from the website.
Speaker AIt's all there to click on and, you know, you link it all in, but it's harder to go the other way.
Speaker AI mean, you can, you know, on Facebook insta, you can have like a tiny thing at the top of, you know, each of your businesses, but people don't tend to click on it, they'll go the other way around.
Speaker ASo, yeah, the website thing is just.
Speaker AIt's a real base.
Speaker AIt's your homepage and you can put on as much as little as you want.
Speaker ABut ultimately, the more you put on and the more you showcase in your brand and everything else, it's just super professional.
Speaker APeople look at it and go, oh, wow.
Speaker AAnd then they click on another page and like, I really want my dog to go there.
Speaker ALike, I really want my dog to be part of this.
Speaker AAnd.
Speaker AAnd also when you're selling yourself and you've got photos of you, they're like, they know who they're bringing their dog to.
Speaker AThey're their.
Speaker AWell, baby, you know, we've all got that.
Speaker AAnd, you know, they're like, okay, no, it's great.
Speaker AI know who they're going to.
Speaker AI know he's going to collect them from the gate or we're going to go in the sun and have a chat.
Speaker AYou can see the salon so you know what it looks like.
Speaker AThere's no surprises.
Speaker AIt's kind of a.
Speaker AThey're buying into something that they can see and then be confident as well when they ring up and say, yep, I'll book in, it's great.
Speaker AI know what I'm coming to.
Speaker CAnd the thing is, when I was looking for a groomer for Frank when I lived down south, the one I picked, and this is before I started the pet count stuff, I went with her because she had a picture of herself on the website and I looked through a few and I went back to hers because I could see her, if that makes sense, whereas the other two weren't as detailed.
Speaker CAnd I went.
Speaker CI think I must have trolled through two or three and then went back to that one because she had the picture of herself and the team and the dogs and stuff.
Speaker CAnd it just.
Speaker CYou felt like you sort of knew them more after reading it rather than not having a face on them.
Speaker CAnd people are a bit like, I don't know who's going to answer the door.
Speaker AYeah, exactly.
Speaker CIt's like taking Your kids, you don't want to just give them to anybody.
Speaker ANo.
Speaker AAnd you kind of, you want to know where they're going and you want to kind of buy into something, don't you?
Speaker AAnd you want to feel part of something and you can put that across in your website.
Speaker ALike for me it's apart.
Speaker AApart from my business is love to pause.
Speaker ABut it's the love to pause family.
Speaker ALike you become part of that and you get photos of your dogs afterwards and all these lovely things.
Speaker ABut their dog, then their photos are on the website.
Speaker CSo people like love that, like should always.
Speaker CI mean, Frank, you did a sausage dog.
Speaker CAll he went into a bath and his nails, she put little bow tie on him every, every time and then had his, had his picture.
Speaker CI just thought it was great.
Speaker CAnd I know, my God, you know, it's silly, but it's not because they like your kids.
Speaker CAnd every time I used to love picking them up because they have a little like bow on and he'd look cute as a button.
Speaker CAnd honestly, she could have charged me £100 to do that.
Speaker CAnd I still would go to her because she would say to me, I'm really sorry, I could have got a prices.
Speaker CAnd I'm like, I don't care.
Speaker CI'm not where else because like, see, once you in, you win for me.
Speaker CLike you just got to get that person in.
Speaker CIn the door.
Speaker AExactly.
Speaker AAnd you're selling like as a.
Speaker AWith any website that you're selling, like your business and yourself, you're not just selling a business because when people relate to you, as you said, they buy in and that's it, you know, Whereas they just see a salon and loads and loads of text that isn't broken up and is all kind of.
Speaker AIt's all there, a lot of it, but it's just not clear.
Speaker APeople are like, no, I'd say boring but you scroll and scroll.
Speaker ACan't find it.
Speaker AI was going to go to someone else where it's really obvious I can see what I want and I can see the benefits for me and what.
Speaker AWhy she's done this and set this up and I want to be part of that.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker CIt's not as simple as just plonking some words on a.
Speaker COn a website.
Speaker CIt's got to be thought out.
Speaker CLike you said, you open to a website and one's just really text heavy and the other one's broken up with pictures.
Speaker CYou're more likely to read that one than you are just a page full of text.
Speaker AExactly.
Speaker CIn the World.
Speaker CBut you don't want to read it.
Speaker ANo, exactly.
Speaker AAnd even little things.
Speaker ALike one of the girls I did her website for, it was like, she's got the really cute logo.
Speaker ABut I was like, who is the dog in the logo?
Speaker AOh, that's my dog.
Speaker AAnd da, da, da.
Speaker ASo we did a section on the inspiration of the business, you know, but that just makes it more personable.
Speaker AThat was.
Speaker AAnd she's like, I've never even thought about doing that.
Speaker AYeah, but it's huge.
Speaker AAnd then pictures of the dog are there.
Speaker AAnd again, it makes her look human.
Speaker AAnd the fact that I love the dog grooming because of my dog.
Speaker AThat's why I went into this.
Speaker AAnd same with mine.
Speaker AShe's all over my website.
Speaker ABut it's.
Speaker AThat is the face of us.
Speaker AThat.
Speaker AThat is what we are.
Speaker AAnd again, people like that because as you said, dogs are your babies.
Speaker AYou know, they are family.
Speaker CIt's an extension of you, isn't it, the website?
Speaker CLike, when I first did the pet accountant one, the first page was the dog's bollocks of accountants with, like, one of the letters missing.
Speaker CAnd everyone who read it was like, oh, I liked it because it wasn't like a formal sort of like corporate accountant website.
Speaker CLike, it was funny that the first page made me giggle.
Speaker CSo I read on and it had pictures of me cock patil who sadly died.
Speaker CRIP Herbie.
Speaker CBut he was on there, you know, the dogs are on there.
Speaker CAnd, you know.
Speaker CAnd people have always commented on the website to say, we like it because now we know you, we can see it's your personality.
Speaker CAnd it's not like people who expect that an accountant's website to be really formal and just dull.
Speaker CWhereas I, you know, when we had a copywriter that wrote it, she was like, I'll just gonna write the dog's botlocks of accountants.
Speaker CAnd then it was all just funny but informative.
Speaker CAnd loads of people come on the website even now just say it.
Speaker CLike, that's not what we were expecting when we searched for you, but there you go.
Speaker CThat's why I like it, though.
Speaker AAbsolutely.
Speaker AAnd it's reflecting you and your personality and that is what a website should be like.
Speaker AYou should open your website and be proud of it because that is putting you out there.
Speaker ALike, that's what you're doing, that's what you're selling.
Speaker AIf people don't like it, maybe you're not the business for them.
Speaker AThat's fine.
Speaker CI say people like, you know, we.
Speaker CWe had.
Speaker CI always say we had A complaint last year, someone Facebook messaged me was like, oh, don't like the fact that you swore on your podcast and I hope you don't speak to your clients like this.
Speaker CAnd all this is not very professional.
Speaker CI just thought, well, don't listen to it then.
Speaker CExactly.
Speaker CLike, you know, you're obviously not the client for us and that's absolutely fine.
Speaker CIf people prefer a corporate accountant, then we are definitely not the ones for you.
Speaker CBut those who don't want a corporate accountant, then, you know, people come to us.
Speaker CSo.
Speaker CAbsolutely.
Speaker CSometimes it weeds out the people that you don't want.
Speaker AYeah.
Speaker AAnd there's enough to go around for everybody for sure.
Speaker ABut it is just nice to know that you're out there and hopefully attracting the right customers because you'll get more of the right customers from that website because they'll have seen what you do.
Speaker AAnd a lot of time, if your website looks professional, people will expect to pay more when they ring you up and say, how much does it cost?
Speaker AYou know, like, it totally has a reflection on all of that.
Speaker AAnd when you sort of say the price, they're like, oh, yeah, okay.
Speaker AYeah, and I've seen your website's beautiful or loved it.
Speaker AWhereas if you don't have one, I'm not suggesting not having one means you can't charge the prices, but it just is a.
Speaker AThere's not as much contact necessarily with that customer beforehand.
Speaker ASo they might be a bit like, oh, that's a lot.
Speaker ABecause they're not used to seeing your work or what you put out there or, you know, just how you sell yourself.
Speaker CYeah, it factors in a lot.
Speaker CPeople don't realize how much a website like factors into all of the different scenarios.
Speaker CBut what do you offer?
Speaker CLet's go through that.
Speaker CWhat sort of packages have you got and what can people do or what do they need to do?
Speaker AFair.
Speaker ANo, absolutely.
Speaker ASo the way that I work at the moment is I'm.
Speaker AI use GoDaddy just as a building platform.
Speaker AObviously there are lots of different ones out there, but that's my chosen one for the moment.
Speaker ASo you would need to have a domain name, which some people already have, some people don't, but that's basically how you'll appear on the Internet as your business.
Speaker ASo www.whatever you choose.
Speaker AAnd you also need to have a hosting package with the provider that you are using.
Speaker ASo for example, for me, you'd need to have a hosting package with GoDaddy.
Speaker AAnd I would always recommend it's kind of not the basic one.
Speaker AIt's at least the second one up because it provides and allows you to SEO your website, which will help you get noticed on Google.
Speaker AThe basic ones don't allow that.
Speaker ASo it's kind of a little bit pointless really.
Speaker AAnd then so once you've got those sorted then I've got some different packages available.
Speaker ASo maybe you're just starting out, you've got no presence online, kind of.
Speaker AIt is all new.
Speaker AI can do just a landing page.
Speaker ASo a landing page is like a single page but it would have all your contact details on there, kind of a brief paragraph and picture of your salon, brief paragraph and picture of you, the services you offer, contact me form and then it can link into your Facebook and Insta pages if you want as well.
Speaker ASo it's kind of a great starter really.
Speaker AAt least it gets you out there.
Speaker AIt can then be built on later if you want to upgrade the website.
Speaker AAnd it can basically be built behind the scenes.
Speaker AThe landing page will stay published and then the new one's built and it'll be published as a replacement when it's ready.
Speaker ABut that would all be branded your colors.
Speaker ASo once you know your branding and things, your hex codes that can all be added in, it would all be your own images and obviously text wise I can help but obviously I'm not in your head.
Speaker ASo ultimately it's I need you to feed me the information so I make sure it's bespoke to you.
Speaker ASo that would be the sort of a landing page starter package and then you've got either sort of the mid range where you'd have a website for up to five pages.
Speaker ASo you might have like a homepage and about me, maybe a page on your services, a contact me page, maybe like a testimonials and gallery page or something and then obviously it can go further.
Speaker ASo the main package tend to be the ones that people do opt for is the complete package which is like up to 10 pages.
Speaker ASo that's more where the services are broken down into individual pages.
Speaker ASo you've got a page for teeth cleaning, a page for nailing, a page for puppy packages, et cetera, which a lot of people prefer because you can have more information exactly how you break them down.
Speaker AYou can add kind of camera brochures, all that kind of stuff can be added and then you still have like your gallery and testimonial pages.
Speaker ASome people have added facts pages so they want people to know so they provide the facts and the answers and that can all be incorporated.
Speaker ASo again it's really dependent on what you want as an individual and what you want as a business.
Speaker AObviously, the about me can be about you individually or it can be about us if you're a team, so you can introduce the team members.
Speaker ASo again, the wording is all based on you as a business.
Speaker AWhat would you prefer?
Speaker ADo you want it to be about me, do you want it to be about us?
Speaker AHow do you want it to run the entirety and the way that I work with it, once it's all sort of agreed and we're starting, then I would liaise with you the whole way through.
Speaker ASo I would be building it in the background and then say, right, can you go in, have a look at it?
Speaker ABe brutally honest.
Speaker ADo you like this?
Speaker ADo you like that?
Speaker AIf you don't like it, tell me.
Speaker ABe honest.
Speaker AIt's not my website, it's yours.
Speaker AAnd we just change it as many times as it needs to be changed until people are happy.
Speaker AAnd then we would publish it when everyone was happy.
Speaker ASo that would be the main bulk.
Speaker AAnd then obviously there's the option if people then want to kind of continue going forwards, like on a monthly plan, when I can still update and make changes for them going forwards.
Speaker ABut again, that would be kind of a secondary package after the original.
Speaker CDo you like the text as well?
Speaker AI can write most of it.
Speaker AIt just depends what you want.
Speaker ABut obviously it would need some, some input because obviously things like about me behind the scenes.
Speaker AYeah, all those kind of things.
Speaker AYou would desperately need somebody's own voice in it.
Speaker ALike, why have you set this up?
Speaker AObviously things like nail clipping, you know, like the services, you can do a brief, but when it comes to maybe things like puppy packages or teeth cleaning, how do you sell them?
Speaker ALike, if you've got a package, what does that involve?
Speaker AI would need support and help to make sure that it's like reflective of the business as opposed to just a bog standard.
Speaker ASo I don't want to go down the bog standard route.
Speaker ALike, that's not.
Speaker ABecause otherwise it's, you know, it's not bespoke.
Speaker AThen it's not truly you.
Speaker AAnd I think that's the point.
Speaker ABut I can definitely help and do a lot in, you know, in the background too.
Speaker CAnd how long does it typically take a turnaround time?
Speaker AI normally try and do for the moment, if I can do with working alongside the cell on about one a month, if I can.
Speaker AUm, it just depends because it's about 30, 40 hours for a full website.
Speaker CAnd I say this well, because you're Going backwards and forwards and there's a lot of tweaking and stuff.
Speaker CI mean we've still not finished ours four years on.
Speaker CSo that, you know, it's, it's not an easy or quick job and it's.
Speaker AAlways changing going forward.
Speaker ALike, you know, what you build initially and you publish is lovely.
Speaker AI mean I update mine all the time and that, that's because I can, but that's all part of it.
Speaker AAnd actually the more you then going forward update it, the more it helps pick up on Google because if you stop updating and doing any changes, then you become less noticed and then they goes in the background of.
Speaker AOr maybe the algorithm algorithms either has it as they close down, have they stopped?
Speaker ABecause it's not changed.
Speaker ASo it's really important to keep it even if it's adding a photo, do you know what I mean?
Speaker ABut something simple keeps that new and fresh and kind of.
Speaker AOh yeah, they're active online.
Speaker CYeah, we try a blog on but we're just useless at keeping it up to date.
Speaker COne of the always on the to do list and just gets further down.
Speaker CWe've got a question from the lovely Claire.
Speaker CCan you help with setting up a shop on a website?
Speaker AI think it would depend what kind of shop you're looking for, Claire, to be truthful, and obviously which platform you're using and in terms of what you're looking for.
Speaker ASo I'm definitely happy to have a chat with you afterwards if you want, and see if I can help.
Speaker CYeah, we'll put Helen's details on the social media platform so that you can contact her directly because sometimes, like, questions might need more probing to find out the answers.
Speaker CBut we've got a shot that's integrated into the website, but I think later to that I've got bloody clear just absolutely easy.
Speaker AYou can sometimes it depends on the hosting plans and all the rest.
Speaker ASo it's a little bit more complicated than just going, yes, hit her up.
Speaker CClaire, go and go and chat to Helen and see if she can get that sorted for you.
Speaker CBrilliant.
Speaker CI mean, thanks so much for coming on and I think I'm hoping that people listen to this because we've rabbit on about websites on podcasts loads because we try and get people to do them and I say to clients, like, please, please, please get a website because like you said, it's your shop front, it's your personality and that's what people buy into.
Speaker CAnd I think if you don't have that, you're missing out on it on a chunk of clients.
Speaker CSo we need to get it done, guys.
Speaker CAnd I know it's one of those jobs, like getting an accountant that you just put off because you think, oh, no, I don't know how to do it, or I don't know what I'm doing.
Speaker CJust like I say, speak to Helen, you know, it's worth the investment.
Speaker CAnd, you know, websites aren't cheap, but that's because there's a lot of effort and time that goes into building them.
Speaker CAnd if you were to contact someone and they said, oh, do your website for a hundred quid or fifty quid, I'd be questioning whether they're going to do you a good website or not.
Speaker CSo, you know, try and save some cash for stuff for the business.
Speaker CAnd, you know, a website is a very.
Speaker CIt's the first thing I did, honestly, the first thing I did when I got a bit of money was I got the website done and it was the best thing I ever did because of the amount of people that still come through the website.
Speaker CYeah.
Speaker AThe feedback I've had from people who've done them already, like, yes, it is a big investment, but they've got back that investment already by the number of inquiries they've got through the website and the conversions that they've made from it, or even just the numbers and names that they've got from it.
Speaker ASo I appreciate it.
Speaker AIt's a chunk of money, it really is, but it is worth the investment.
Speaker AAnd even if you start off with just a landing page, it's starting.
Speaker AIt's getting you online.
Speaker AIt's not as expensive as a full website.
Speaker ASo you get that, you get out there, you start reaping the rewards, getting the bookings, and then you can go, well, actually, now I want to get out there and get the full website done and it can be built, as I said, behind the scenes, but have some sort of digital presence online, because if.
Speaker AIf you're not out there, people won't necessarily find you.
Speaker CYeah, stop procrastinating, get it done.
Speaker ADo it.
Speaker ASeptember Challenge.
Speaker CYes, September Challenge.
Speaker CI want to see how many people have got a website done.
Speaker CCan we see if we can change from people's minds?
Speaker CLike I said, it is expensive, but like I say, you will reap the rewards from it.
Speaker CI've held off doing TikTok for years and Tegan made me do it and drags me and the team to do these stupid TikToks.
Speaker CAnd actually we've had loads of clients off the back of just TikTok, which we wouldn't have had, we hadn't done it.
Speaker CIt's just the same thing.
Speaker CGet your website up because you will hit a different target market and you'll put yourselves out there.
Speaker CSo please, please, please do that.
Speaker CAnd we will be talking about marketing and AI and how that can help at the Expo in November.
Speaker CThe lovely Darren and Jamie will be there.
Speaker CSo please, please, please come along.
Speaker CThe door shut on Sunday for in person tickets and no more will be sold after Sunday.
Speaker CThe doors were closed, there is a couple left.
Speaker CSo please, please, please, if you want to grab one, grab one before Sunday because it's not a. Oh, the doors will close and then reopen.
Speaker CThey will be shut on the 31st of August and that'll be it.
Speaker CSo please grab them and we'll be talking about it there.
Speaker CClaire has said thank you.
Speaker CMy books are closed for new clients.
Speaker CAlways think I don't need one.
Speaker CBut I guess it's always good to keep your name out there.
Speaker CDon't do that mistake, Claire.
Speaker CThis is what people do.
Speaker CGo on fully booked, they don't advertise, they lose client.
Speaker CAnd then you have to start the advertising process from the beginning.
Speaker CAlways, always advertise.
Speaker AYeah, keep it ticking and your website will work for you in the background.
Speaker AAnd even if you're just like accumulating the names and details of people, you can go back to them.
Speaker ASo I can put you on a waiting list.
Speaker AIf someone cancels whatever, you can pop them straight in.
Speaker ASo, yeah, no, definitely we get it pushed into us through our lovely business program.
Speaker ABut don't ever stop advertising and marketing.
Speaker AYou never know when you're going to need extra people.
Speaker CExactly.
Speaker CAnd if your books are closed and you can't get any new clients, that would signal that your prices need to as well.
Speaker CClass, we'll be having words after this, so get a bloody website and keep it going.
Speaker CBecause you know, Tegan's mum used to be a dog groomer.
Speaker CShe had two salons and even she said she stopped advertising, she went fat, registered, lost a couple of clothes, client and then have to restart that advertising process again because we're always advertising.
Speaker CEven when my books are shut, we always advertise because you've got to keep yourself there, otherwise the algorithms drop and then you start again.
Speaker COh, sorry, someone's rang my doorbell.
Speaker CI thought I had it on mute.
Speaker CMake sure you guys do it and like I said, make sure you come see us in November.
Speaker CBill will be there with a lot of the mentors on this program as well.
Speaker CSo it is going to be a Good.
Speaker CGood day.
Speaker CSo make sure you are there, otherwise you're going to get fomo.
Speaker COh, there's one more question.
Speaker CEvery time I go, someone adds another question.
Speaker CWant to go?
Speaker CStarting the process is scary.
Speaker CNo where to start.
Speaker CExactly, Jenny.
Speaker CI don't have a bloody clue either.
Speaker CAnd that's why, speaking to someone, I've.
Speaker ABeen there, I know how it feels.
Speaker ALike it was only a year ago that I was in your position.
Speaker ASo literally, give me a shout and I will help.
Speaker CIt is daunting, but it should be top of your to do list, I might say.
Speaker CYou've got the benefit of having known the industry as well.
Speaker CSo, yeah, hit her up and just get it done.
Speaker CLike I said, even if it's just a landing page, at least you've got something for the clients to go to and then go from there and just start there.
Speaker CSo, yes, fabulous.
Speaker CRight, I will let everyone go.
Speaker CThank you so much for joining us.
Speaker CThis will go live on Monday on the podcast and we will put all your details in the group and on Spotify as well.
Speaker CSo if people want to get in touch with you, they can.
Speaker CAnd yeah, hopefully it's been useful for everyone.
Speaker CAnd thanks very much for your time.
Speaker AYeah, no, you're very welcome.
Speaker AThank you so much.
Speaker AAnd I hope to help as many people as possible.
Speaker CFingers crossed.
Speaker CWe're going to.
Speaker CMaybe we'll do another one like this start of next year and see how many people you've done websites for and see if it's gone over.
Speaker CHopefully.
Speaker CFingers crossed.
Speaker CWebsite.
Speaker CBrilliant.
Speaker CThank you so much, Helen.
Speaker CThanks, guys.
Speaker CAnd hopefully we'll see you on the 15th of November.
Speaker CAnd like I said, get a ticket before the doors close.
Speaker CAnd we will catch up next week, maybe on Monday because I'm off on holiday next week and Lee gets scared doing the wrong zones.
Speaker CMight not be one next week, but if we do do one, it'll be Monday, but we'll catch up with everyone next week.
Speaker CAll right, thanks guys.
Speaker ATake care.
Speaker ABye.
