Hello everyone and welcome to Wednesday Woo, where I deep dive into different woo things and the new and nuances of life and self discovery.
Speaker AI have been struggling over the last week and it's all about resistance.
Speaker AIn my creative writing tips club we are reading the War of Art, which, which covers resistance brilliantly.
Speaker AAnd at the same time it's come up in a lot of other posts about knowing when to let go and whether resistance is a sign to stop or is an indication that you should push through.
Speaker AI've been listening to Grant Cardone and his theme is that it should be a.
Speaker AA push through.
Speaker AIf, if you're struggling with something, it's about really finding the passion to push through.
Speaker ASo is it our intuition guiding us to let go or is it simply ego trying to keep us safe?
Speaker AAnd in that case, should we push through?
Speaker ASo that's what I wanted to talk about today because I think there's, there is a real nuance around this.
Speaker AAnd resistance often manifests in various forms.
Speaker AIt can be self sabotage, it can be procrastination, it can be feeling sleepy, you know, I'll just go for a nap.
Speaker AIt can be fear, it can be absolute terror, it can be doubt or even, you know, bad health, physical discomfort.
Speaker AI know that I was signing up to things yesterday that I've been resisting doing.
Speaker AAnd by the end of the day I had a real sore throat because it was about speaking my truth and being more natural in how I show up and in choosing a niche that felt more in rapport with who I am as well.
Speaker ASo really showing up more authentically and speaking to who I'm feeling into being my audience as I go forward.
Speaker AAnd it was really interesting to notice that my throat was, it wasn't swollen and really, really sore.
Speaker ASo that was, you know, again, is that resistance universe telling me I shouldn't be speaking about these things or is it ego wanting to stop me and keep me safe?
Speaker AAs far as it concern, it's concerned.
Speaker ASo intuition, just to, to clarify what I mean by intuition is that inner voice, your gut feeling that often steers you towards growth, authenticity, your truth expansion.
Speaker AAnd it's often very illogical.
Speaker AWhereas ego, on the other hand, is protective.
Speaker AIt seeks to maintain the status quo to keep you in your comfort zone, to avoid discomfort, to avoid you expanding.
Speaker AAnd it kind of whispers fears, it convinces you through logic and through fear around what if you fail?
Speaker AYou know, you've never done it before, so why do it now?
Speaker AWhat will others think?
Speaker AAre you sure that you can take that risk?
Speaker AIs it Too risky?
Speaker AIs it too dangerous?
Speaker AAnd that leads us to fear.
Speaker AAnd that can be a powerful motivator to stop doing something.
Speaker ABut also it's a significant barrier to want to break through.
Speaker AAnd it's crucial to discern whether that fear is signaling a real present danger or is it just a reaction to stepping outside your comfort zone.
Speaker AAnd I think, especially when we're in challenging times, especially when it feels like everything is on the line, that role of fear can often stop us from doing something that's actually, you know, the thing that's going to transform everything.
Speaker AIt's like we have to step to the edge, you know, and jump and grow our wings on the way down.
Speaker ABut that fear is going to stop you from jumping.
Speaker AAnd sometimes, in my experience, it's when we jump that everything changes in our favor.
Speaker AAnd I think that's one of the key things to remember is, for me anyway, is that your life is working for me.
Speaker ASo if there's something that I'm sitting in fear, I'm sitting in resistance.
Speaker AIt's about stepping back and trying to work out, is this resistance because of the ego, or is this intuition telling me not to go there?
Speaker ASo to determine if resistance is meaningful, there are a few questions you can ask.
Speaker ASo obviously the beginning one is, what am I resisting?
Speaker ASo really getting clear and reflecting on the situation, is it something that aligns with your values and goals?
Speaker AAnd for me, this has been tough because I've been changing my values and goals, so the resistance has been around.
Speaker AAm I actually pursuing the right goal?
Speaker AAm I actually pursuing my purpose, my deep desire, something that I'm really good at?
Speaker AOr is ego stopping me from going there because of my fear of success, my fear of showing up, my fear of being public, if you like.
Speaker ASo it's really quite a powerful question, not just what are you resisting?
Speaker AAnd if it's in line with your values and goals, but actually, are you resisting the goal itself?
Speaker AAre you resisting what's beyond the goal in terms of success, in terms of stepping into a different version of you?
Speaker AThe next question is really getting into your body and asking how your body feels.
Speaker AYou know, what are the physical sensations and where are they in your body?
Speaker ATension might indicate fear from the ego, while excitement can signal alignment from your true self, but also calm.
Speaker ACan I know?
Speaker AFor me, sometimes it's not excitement, but it's that calm kind of, yes, feeling in my tummy when I know that something is right to go ahead.
Speaker AAnd what are your motivations?
Speaker AAnd this again, aligns with your values.
Speaker ASo are you avoiding something because of past experiences or you are a fear of what other people might say or other people's expectations?
Speaker AOr are you genuinely feeling that this path isn't right for you?
Speaker AAnd I think within all our conditioning, sometimes we get this resistance thing mixed up because of what we think or we feel we should be doing rather than actually knowing that this is in alignment with who we are, with our purpose for being here.
Speaker AAnd that change is happening all the time.
Speaker AAnd this change is perfectly right for me, irrespective of what anyone else else thinks of feels.
Speaker ASo take time to journal or meditate on your feelings of resistance and ask yourself, what would I do if I weren't afraid?
Speaker AWhat would I do if I didn't feel this resistance?
Speaker AWhat's the worst that could happen if I move forward?
Speaker AAnd how would I feel if I chose to embrace this challenge?
Speaker AAnd just to mention, I am putting together a 30 day journaling challenge if you like.
Speaker AI hate the word challenge, but it's a 30 day journaling journey to help you navigate these types of issues around procrastination, around feeling stuck because of trauma or emotions, you know, being stuck in the freeze zone.
Speaker ASo if you're interested in that, I'll be putting the link in the comments and show notes.
Speaker ASo inconclusive.
Speaker ACan't even speak today.
Speaker AIn conclusion, resistance can be seen as protective from the ego's perspective.
Speaker ABut it can also be a call to action sometimes saying yes even to get us to the next step.
Speaker ABecause sometimes we resist before we've even made a decision.
Speaker ASo something pops up, an opportunity, and we resist and dismiss it before we even know what it really is.
Speaker ASo sometimes just taking that next step to find out actually what is this and could I do it can open up to massive opportunities.
Speaker AI mean, I've been doing that in the last couple of days and those yeses are turning into things that I couldn't have kind of anticipated.
Speaker ASo yeah, that's another part of the resistan and tune into your intuition.
Speaker APractice it.
Speaker AI think that's something that you know, practice tuning into your knowing, your intuition, your higher self, whatever you want to call it.
Speaker ABecause I think that's going to become so important as we navigate kind of the, the massive changes and the unknown as we go forward.
Speaker AAnd learn to recognize your ego voice so that you can decide between the two and work through these feelings and through the resistance more effectively.
Speaker AAnd remember that pushing through discomfort often leads to growth and transformation.
Speaker AYou know, there's no growth in your comfort zone.
