Welcome to A Changed Mind. Hey, it's David Baer. Welcome to A Changed Mind. A sanctuary for your spirit. A place where each and every episode I remind you of the certainty of the goodness of the future. I'm your friend, your host, your guide, David Bayer. About a year ago, I recorded an episode on this topic and it was one of my most powerful and popular episodes. So many questions. Thank you for asking. And so I wanted to elaborate on this conversation and really deliver you a masterclass level understanding of why it can sometimes feel like Law of Attraction is simply not working for you. So let's get into it now. I'm sure if you're listening to this show, you are somebody who's understands that you create your own reality. You've done something like a vision board or you have a life vision or a dream. You've done some beliefs work. And as you start to transform your beliefs, as you set new intentions and you start to desire to create a new reality, you actually set in motion a new future reality. But you're still living in the old one. And when you don't realize this, it can cause all kinds of challenges. So a lot of people, for example, decide hey, I'm gonna get out of financial insecurity. I'm gonna live a life of prosperity and abundance. I'm gonna make a bunch of money. Maybe they're growing their business, they're gonna attract some high paying clients. They go to a motivational event, an inspirational event. They get super excited, they come home. For a short period of time, it seems like life is complying with the new wish, right? You start to have some conversations. It looks like you might meet some people who maybe want to work with you in this example. And then those people end up ghosting you and not enrolling in your product or service. Same type of thing can happen with your health. You've been experiencing some type of chronic health condition, maybe it's been years, maybe a decade. You decide, you know what, I'm done with this. I understand that I'm creating my own reality. You do some beliefs, work around it. You're listening to your body, you do some somatic release and you start to feel a little bit better. And then all of a sudden you get a flare up and it feels like cannot make any progress in the expansion of my life. And in that moment, what's actually happening is you are deciding that change is not possible. So stay with me for a second here. You determine that you want a new reality or a new future. And as the shift is taking place, there are signals that show up that are not in alignment with the outcome that you want. And you go back to your old limiting beliefs. See, I knew it. I'm never going to get better. See, I knew it. Money is scarce. See, I knew it. Things don't work out for me. I'm not good enough. And so what's happening here is that the moment you actually develop a new belief, develop a new affirmation, what I would call make a new decision or set a new intention for your life. Life is starting to respond differently. But what you've already set in motion is a wave of manifestation that is going to occur in your very near future based on your old belief systems. And so the best way I like to describe this is you're living in two realities at the same time. You're experiencing what hasn't yet set in from your old belief systems at the same time that you're experiencing some new indicators from the new beliefs and new intentions that you've set. Things don't shift instantaneously. The name I have for this is the echo effect. There's an echo of your past that's continuing to show up in your present. Moment. And if you're not conscious of the fact that this is going to occur and it's natural that it occurs, then it will compel you to lose faith in your new decision or your new intention. That's why one of the great teachers on imagination and manifestation and fourth dimension, Neville Goddard, a mystic, said, you have to stay loyal to your new decision. There's a Greek mythological story of Orpheus. He's a heroic character and his wife is Persephone. And Hades, who rules the Underworld, falls in love with Persephone and brings her down into the Underworld. And so Orpheus, being the hero that he is, goes down into the Underworld to save Persephone. And Hades cuts him a deal. And Hades says, hey, look, if you can get back up to the terrestrial plane and you do not look backwards at Persephone along the way because she's going to follow you from behind, I will let you leave the Underworld with Persephone. Orpheus says, well, this is a piece of cake. So Orpheus and Persephone start heading out back up to the earthly level of reality. And all Orpheus can hear is monsters and gnashing and screaming, hears Persephone screaming and it gets almost all the way up outside of the Underworld. And he can't handle it even more because the sounds are so horrific that he turns around and he sees his beautiful beloved right behind him, no harm around her, ready to exit into the earthly plane with him so they can spend the rest of their lives together. But because he looked back, poof, she disappears and she spends the rest of eternity in the Underworld with Hades. What I'm suggesting is that when you make a new decision, you're still experiencing the gnashing, the monsters, the horrible sounds of your old reality. And you have to continue to move forward and not pay them attention, otherwise they will pull you back into your own personal underworld. This is the orphan reality that you're going to be living in for a little while. So you have to ignore the fact that a bill showed up in the mail that you didn't expect. And it seems to be indicative of the fact that you're never going to get out of financial insecurity. You have to ignore that. You have to say, you know what, this is just old news showing up in my present reality. I don't have to give it a lot of attention. I certainly don't need to allow it to become evidence of my old limiting beliefs again. If you have a flare up or a health challenge, you know what, your body's in the process of healing. There are old thoughts or old belief systems that are causing your body to respond this way. There are going to be these moments as this transition takes place. But if you continue to move forward and focus on what it is that you desire without allowing these little blips in the matrix to compel you to undecide on your new decisions or your new belief systems, you'll navigate all the way through. You'll get back up to the promised land, the proverbial promised land. So it's important to understand this. Your old is always showing up in your near present future, even as those things that you've intended or desire are also showing up at the same time. It's like a mix. My wife is Colombian. They have a soup called a calentado. It's basically where you take all the left. And I probably said that in a horrible way. Latins are laughing at me right now on the show. A calentado. But you take basically all the leftovers from the refrigerator and you throw it into a soup, and it ends up becoming amazing as this leftover soup. But my point is, there's all these different kinds of ingredients that are showing up when you decide you want to change your reality. There's old ingredients, there's new ingredients. You've got a calentado in your life, and if you just allow it, you can navigate through it. So that's first important piece to understand. Stay calm as the transition is taking place. Don't give credence to the situations and circumstances that are showing up right now that represent the old. It makes sense that they're here now because you've been thinking this way and believing these things for a while. So you've placed your order with the universe, not being conscious necessarily of the order you were placing or not having yet made a new decision or created a new belief system. And the universe is delivering on those orders. And so it's going to continue to bring you some things that you're not going to want. But over time, if you can consistently broadcast the new message by disassociating and ignoring the evidence that's showing up, then you'll start getting deliveries that you desire. All right? And thank God that this is the way that it happens. Because could you imagine if we lived in a reality of instant manifestation? I mean, think about all the negative thoughts we would have. We'd be just destroying ourselves and destroying other people. Almost immediately you get into an argument with someone like, poof, they're gone, right? You judge yourself. Poof, you're gone. So we need this delay mechanism. Everything can't come all at once, otherwise it would be absolute chaos. This is the way that as translators of vibration, which is what human beings are, we can start to sift and sort through all of this data and this information as it's coming through our moment by moment reality. And we can make some tweaks and recalibrate it along the way versus like getting the, and I'm going to say it, getting the whole enchilada all at once. Okay, this actually brings me to the second point. So along the way, as you are creating momentum and building towards what your vision is, and by the way, your vision's always going to change, you're going to find that you I found in my own life. It's like at one point in time I was broke. I had a bunch of credit card debt, I had a couple homes in foreclosure, and I was single. And so that created a desire for me to pay down my debt, find a soulmate, have a home that I own. That was my vision at that time. And then I got to that vision and then there was another layer of expansion. So we're always expanding. That's by the nature of being a human being. We are, I believe, the expansive creative mechanism of the universe. Like, so we're always wanting more. You're going to get to the what you once thought was your, your ultimate dream and you're going to realize, oh, like there's a dream beyond that now, and that's great as we casually move towards it and as we enjoy the journey along the way and we live in our joy. But my point is, is that along the way, as you're constructing this new reality for yourself, there will be setbacks. These setbacks are not a glitch in the system. It's a fine tuning of your desire. And I'll give you a great example of this. Two really good examples. Number well, you tell me if they're good examples. I'm not gonna judge them myself. But two examples that I think are appropriate. Number one, and I've shared this in other episodes around 2021, 2022, we had a really significant contraction in our business. And so my wife and I had built up a really successful coaching company. We had grown to just over $7 million a year in revenue over like four years, really, I think for our industry, like explosive growth. And then all of a sudden we had a contraction. Now we could look at the contraction as a result of COVID as a result of what was called the iOS update, which is a significant shift in how the Internet marketing platforms were working that affected our online marketing efforts, but we were also burning out. And so really what happened was as we grew our business, there were still old belief systems embedded in it. There was still unresolved trauma that was part of the reality that we were creating. So it's like we got. If you looked at the menu of David and Carol, on the menu was financial freedom, soulmate, relationship. But also on the menu was, you have to work hard to make money. Also on the menu was, I'm never as far along as I should be. Also on the menu was, there's something wrong with me or I'm going to let people down. And so all of those ingredients were in the reality that we created, even though there was a lot of what we had intended to be new mixed in there. So my point is like, as you look at your calentado, you're going to get more and more ingredients in there that are new, that are going to be aspects of what you've asked for, but there are going to be elements of it that are part of the old. And so that shows up in your process. It doesn't mean that it's a setback. It's actually what I would call a fine tuning of what it is that you want and a fine tuning of who you're meant to become as a human being. So Carol and I needed to learn in order to navigate through that, how to let go of control, how to not push ourselves so hard, how to trust God more. And those are all qualities that we want to develop as individuals on a spiritual journey. And this was the training ground for that development. And at the same time, we have a more expansive vision. And the David and Carol who will accomplish that vision must be people who control less, surrender more, operate more according to the will of God, enjoy our life along the way, create a balanced, holistic life so that this is a sprint, not a marathon, and we don't burn out our nervous systems. And we're still learning how to do this. But the point is, if you're not aware of the fact that this is how it works, you think it's the old coming back to dominate. And you think you're never going to get away from the old. You're never going to get away from the health problems, from the financial insecurity, from the loneliness, from the depression, from the anxiety. No, you. It's an evolutionary process. And so when you understand that this is the game, then when Those things show up. You don't undecide. You still stay loyal to the vision that you have. And in a sense, even though sometimes I don't feel this way, admittedly appreciate the fact that there are new aspects of yourself, old aspects of yourself that are ready to be transformed, that are showing up in this journey to create what it is that you want. So this is an iterative fine tuning process. In my private client coaching program, I have the opportunity to work more hands on with many, many, many entrepreneurs and high performers and leaders who are in our coaching programs. And I had a conversation with one of them recently and we've worked together to identify his spiritual vision, what he's really meant to do in the world, what he's passionate about, how that translates into a business. And now he's building that business and along the way he's running into speed bumps. And over the last couple of months he's been interpreting those speed bumps as, I don't know if this is a model that can be successful, like, maybe this isn't what I'm supposed to do, maybe I should go do something else. And none of those things are actually true. The speed bumps are actually just flares of unresolved aspects of himself that are showing up in the business that need to be resolved and the natural process of entrepreneurship. I'll give you a more tangible example of this. He put together a marketing campaign. The marketing campaign didn't work and he said, maybe this is too complicated of a model. And I said, no, the marketing campaign is not supposed to work because you've never done it before. So let's take a look at where the friction was in this campaign and let's resolve the friction. And oh, by the way, 70 to 80% of what you did worked really, really well. This is how we fine tune. This is the process of mastery. This is how we get better at anything. And so whether it's growing your business or whether it's changing your health, or whether it's creating more financial prosperity and abundance for yourself, or whether it's having healthy relationships or more spiritual connection, it's not going to go perfectly the first time. Number one, because there are aspects of you in that that need to be addressed and healed. And number two, because that's the process of learning. Imagine if, you know, my son is two and a half years old now, I think he's been walking for over a year. But imagine if the first time my son got up, like he got up, he fell down and he was like, well, forget about that maybe I'm just not meant to walk. This is too hard. Let me see if I can find an easier model. So no matter what it is, right, this is a developmental process. And that actually, when you think about it as part of the beauty of it, when you understand how the rules of the game work, then that compels you to be excited about the fact that you've identified some areas where there's an opportunity for improvement and to take the time to learn, to improve. And so you're learning how to become better at manifesting the full vision of your life. And the process of that, number one, is understanding that you're living in two realities, the old reality and the new reality. There's an echo effect taking place and to continue to move forward. And number two, understanding that as you move forward, as you create momentum, as you get to the next level and the next level and the next level, there's always going to be setbacks that reveal to you more about yourself that need to be healed. And it's just the natural process of learning. Now, you may be saying, like, well, how do I identify what part of me needs to be healed or worked with in those setbacks? And the answer is, pay attention to your setback. What are you saying to yourself when you experience the setback? Because if you experience a setback and you think to yourself, this is never going to work out for me. This is never going to work out for me. He's been around for a long, long time. Like, you've been saying that to yourself for a long, long time. Now you're just using your external environment to justify this habit of thought and habit of emotion that's been around since you were a kid. You believe since you were a kid or you saw people model that it's never going to work out for them. So this experience is not causing you to think that way. We could take two people and put them exactly the same experience, and one will respond with, this is never gonna work out for me. The other will say, oh, that's interesting. Let me see how I can do this better. So pay attention to your reaction to the setbacks. That's gonna give you very specific psychological and emotional material that you can work with. How do you work with it? Well, all the different tools we talk about on the show or all the other great transformational teachers that are out there have a tool set. But how do you become aware of what to work with? Pay attention to your reaction to the setbacks. So this is the second piece along the way Even as you create momentum, they're gonna be setbacks. It's not a glitch in the system. It's an awareness of what needs to be transformed in you, and it's also the natural process of learning and getting better at something. Yeah. Number three. I don't know what that. Yeah. Was. I just. I was getting fired up over here because it's like, come on, you know, like, don't give up so quickly. Like, let's just keep going. And I understand, like, this is the kind of. We should have been taught in grade school and we weren't. But now we're in this inner university together, and we can start understanding how to navigate the process of our life more elegantly and more powerfully. Number three, most people. By most people, I mean you and me, we don't give it enough time to change. We don't give it enough time to change. We're in an instant gratification, an era of instant gratification, an era of obsessive dopamine hits, of poking and swiping, of Netflix on demand, of Amazon prime on your doorstep. I have some concern. I mean, I believe in the certainty of the goodness of the future, so it'll work itself out, but, man, I'll be 50 this year. If you're in your 20s and 30s right now and you grew up in this era of instant gratification and satisfaction, you actually don't understand what's required to create anything meaningful. Because it takes consistency and time. One day at a time. Consistent action. Not hustle and grind, sometimes micro actions, taking care of yourself. But you build a fortress that you can stand proud of over many, many days and many, many years, depending on what you're up to and many, many decades. Like the fortress of you, like the beautiful temple of you that's built up over the 70, 80, 90, 100 years of your life. It doesn't happen overnight. Even if you look at it from karmic standpoint, from an incarnation standpoint, you're building up your soul over many, many, many, many, many, many lifetimes. So people want to get rich quick or get healthy quick or get soulmate quick or get spiritually fit quick. It does not happen that way. Now, amazing things can happen over a very short period of time. You can go from broke right now. You could be literally unemployed, homeless, nothing, and become a millionaire in three years. If it took you five, would it be a big deal? If it took you 10, would that be so horrible? But I'm saying. And it could happen even faster. You could have chronic health conditions for the last decade. And in the next year everything can change. Is it going to change by tomorrow? Probably not. Could there be some signs tomorrow? Yes. But remember, you're living in this calantado, you're living in this mixed experience. And so you gotta give some time for your old reality to completely filter out. You gotta give some time for your nervous system to change, for your brain to change, for you to build some new neural networks. You've been thinking and feeling the same way for decades. The other really good news is you don't gotta wait three years to be a millionaire. You could be worth a hundred thousand dollars in 12 months, $500,000 in two years. My point is there's progress along the way, but most people don't want to give it enough time because of the instant gratification environment that we live in. And this is a game that is not played as a sprint, it's played as a marathon. Can instantaneous miracles occur? Absolutely. Could you get a high paying client next week? For sure. Could some of your symptoms subside? Absolutely. I mean, my wife's best friend, we were walking on the beach, she had been going on date after date after date after date. She was like the dating bandit for two years looking for her soulmate. And she said, I'm not going out on another date. I'm so sick of this, I'm giving up. I'm tired of swiping. I think she had a giant callus on her index finger from swiping so much. And she said, I'm just done. I don't care if I'm alone for the rest of my life. Two weeks later she met her husband. So things can change really quickly, but also be patient with the process. There is an infinitely intelligent design of your life and of your reality. It is working with you and working around you and working through you to give you the hero's journey and the soul road that you need in order to develop into becoming the person that you're destined to become and having the full vision and dream you have for your life. It's not your plan, it's its plan. So be patient with it. And I know that can be difficult, especially when we've been programmed to be reactive. But that's what this game is about. Learning how to down regulate our nervous system. Be calm in the journey, know where you're going, understand how the game works. So hopefully this episode has given you some insights into that. I think that this is essential if you want to be able to create long lasting, sustainable change in your life and not feel like you're taking two steps forward, two steps back, being stuck in some sort of Bill Murray Groundhog Day. Three really, really simple but powerful keys. Number one, you're living in two realities at the same time. The new reality that you just decided in, the old reality that has still projected itself ahead of you. So be patient with the process. Number two, even as you build momentum, there are going to be aspects of you that are going to come up that are ready to be healed and there are going to be some setbacks. But it's the natural process of learning and building the character and the quality and the skills that you want to build in order to become who you're destined to become. And number three, give it some time. Give it a little bit of time. And I tell you 100% of the time, if you can just play this game kind of sort of well, you don't have to do it perfectly. They said you need the faith of a mustard seed just a little bit. If you can make some small incremental changes by relaxing around this and apply what I'm talking about here in other episodes, you can move mountains. Just give it a little bit of time.
