Let's get into our reading for the day from Romans 2:12, 16 reading from the message if you sin without knowing what you're doing, God takes that into account.

But if you sin knowing full well what you're doing, that's a different story entirely.

Merely hearing God's law is a waste of your time if you don't do what he commands.

Doing not hearing is what makes the difference with God.

When outsiders who have never heard of God's law follow it more or less by instinct, they confirm its truth.

By their obedience, they show that God's law is not something alien imposed on us from without, but woven into the very fabric of our creation.

There is something deep within them that echoes God's yes and no, right and wrong.

Their response to God's yes and no will become public knowledge on the day God makes His final decision about every man and woman.

The message from God that I proclaim through Jesus Christ takes into account all of these differences.

Well, let's take into account this passage of scripture as we get into a little bit deeper today, we're exploring really.

This is a fascinating passage that challenges traditional notions about who belongs in God's embrace and how divine wisdom manifests itself in human consciousness.

Let's talk about some points to ponder.

One is about going beyond religious boundaries.

Paul makes a revolutionary claim here.

People who have never heard of religious law can naturally embody divine wisdom.

This radically inclusive perspective suggests that God's truth isn't confined to any particular religious tradition or sacred text.

Instead, it's woven into the very fabric of of human consciousness.

And this speaks to a universal divine presence that transcends institutional boundaries.

Here's another point to consider.

It's the sacred within.

When Paul speaks of something deep within that echoes God's wisdom.

He's pointing to what many progressive theologians today might call the divine spark or sacred consciousness within all people.

This isn't about external rules, but about an innate moral compass that connects us all to the divine presence.

It suggests that spirituality is more about authentic inner awareness than following prescribed religious teachings.

Number three is actions speak louder.

Doing not hearing is what makes a difference is what it says.

This straightforward statement challenges religious performance bias and empty ritual.

It reminds us that authentic spirituality manifests in how we treat others and engage with the world, not in how well we can quote scripture or attend a worship service.

Here's your action step.

Practice sacred listening.

That is, listen to your inner moral compass.

When faced with some decisions in your daily walk in life, large or small, take a moment to pause and listen to that deep inner wisdom Paul describes.

Before consulting external sources or rules, ask yourself, what does my authentic inner voice say about the situation?

You might want to journal about this or about some time when your inner wisdom aligns with the challenges that you're facing.

This is a practice that can help distinguish between conditional responses and genuine spiritual insight.

Give us courage to act on our deepest knowing of what was right and just help us to recognize your presence in unexpected places and people.

Guide us toward actions that embody love rather than just speaking about it.
