Where do you need more support
Speaker:in your business or at home so
Speaker:you can focus on your business?
Speaker:That's my question.
Speaker:Because once you've done the
Speaker:planning process that I spoke about
Speaker:last week, and if you haven't,
Speaker:go back, do the planning process.
Speaker:The trick is to work out the things that
Speaker:need to keep happening in your business.
Speaker:that you don't like to do and then
Speaker:figure out a way to outsource them.
Speaker:So I outsource a lot of
Speaker:things at Team McQueen.
Speaker:I outsource my socials.
Speaker:provide the content, but
Speaker:I outsource my socials.
Speaker:I'm not very creative.
Speaker:So all the graphics and
Speaker:all the bits and pieces.
Speaker:Yuck, yuck, yuck.
Speaker:I outsource my Facebook ads.
Speaker:I am not an expert.
Speaker:Get rid of that thing.
Speaker:Give it to someone else.
Speaker:I outsource our on the ground event
Speaker:coordination and finding venues,
Speaker:et cetera, to my amazing events
Speaker:person, Steph LaCure from Carter Co.
Speaker:Go give her a follow.
Speaker:I find the experts in the field
Speaker:And then I outsource to them rather
Speaker:than me trying to do it all and
Speaker:trying to do a really bad job.
Speaker:Sometimes it's worth outsourcing in
Speaker:order to spend more time building
Speaker:your business and staying in your
Speaker:zone of genius than trying to struggle
Speaker:with a Canva template for an hour,
Speaker:trying to work out an email sequence
Speaker:when you're not very good at that.
Speaker:All those things drive me bananas.
Speaker:I had a client who was
Speaker:trying to do all the things.
Speaker:She was trying to do all the things
Speaker:and she had a great business.
Speaker:And one of her goals was to get on more
Speaker:podcasts, but she had been putting it off
Speaker:and putting it off and putting it off.
Speaker:She didn't know where to start.
Speaker:We agreed that outsourcing
Speaker:the research to a professional
Speaker:would be a way to start.
Speaker:She would need to be very clear about
Speaker:what she wanted and then she left
Speaker:it in the hands of a professional.
Speaker:So we hatched a plan.
Speaker:We worked out the questions
Speaker:that she would ask someone.
Speaker:We looked at sites like Fiverr and
Speaker:Upworks and we selected someone who
Speaker:was an expert at podcast research.
Speaker:Amazing.
Speaker:She was astonished by the results.
Speaker:She got an Excel spreadsheet
Speaker:with 200 podcasts within her
Speaker:target market to approach.
Speaker:Not only that, she got an
Speaker:email address to message.
Speaker:She got a link to the podcast
Speaker:so she could have a listen
Speaker:and she got a definition as
Speaker:to why they had selected it.
Speaker:It was so, so good.
Speaker:And.
Speaker:The beautiful thing, it was
Speaker:delivered within a week.
Speaker:It was delivered within a week.
Speaker:And the best bit, it
Speaker:cost her a hundred bucks.
Speaker:If you don't have a hundred bucks to
Speaker:do that kind of research, that kind of
Speaker:research, if you are not a researcher,
Speaker:would take you forever, This is just one
Speaker:example of one task you can outsource.
Speaker:Was she stoked?
Speaker:You bet your bottom
Speaker:dollar she was stoked.
Speaker:She was like, whoop, whoop.
Speaker:Now she's got to do the next step.
Speaker:Now.
Speaker:The next step could be that she could
Speaker:outsource the pitching to someone else.
Speaker:She does not need to do that
Speaker:bit, but that's in the next
Speaker:discussion to have, right?
Speaker:Sometimes I think we go, Oh, I want to
Speaker:get on 200 podcasts and it looks so big.
Speaker:We're like boiling the ocean.
Speaker:If we broke it down and went,
Speaker:right, we want to get on 200
Speaker:podcasts, but let's break it down.
Speaker:What do we need first?
Speaker:Well, we need the podcasts.
Speaker:Then what do we need?
Speaker:We need a script to send to people.
Speaker:Or we need a who to send it to.
Speaker:To do the script, to send people.
Speaker:And then what do we need?
Speaker:And then you just work in
Speaker:logical order of what you need.
Speaker:I'm going to stop there for a minute
Speaker:because you know, you could double speed
Speaker:me and then I sound like a chipmunk
Speaker:and ask you this, What gaps in support
Speaker:do you have that need to be filled?
Speaker:How can they be filled?
Speaker:I've got a little exercise for you
Speaker:because, you know, I love my homework
Speaker:and I love practical exercises.
Speaker:All right, grab a piece of paper,
Speaker:A4 piece of paper, grab a cup
Speaker:of tea, grab a pen, draw a line,
Speaker:smack bang down the middle.
Speaker:On the left hand side, I want you to
Speaker:do a brain dump right down all the
Speaker:things that you need support with.
Speaker:It might be work related.
Speaker:It might be business related.
Speaker:It might be home related.
Speaker:Doesn't matter.
Speaker:Just go ahead and do a brain dump on the
Speaker:left hand side of the piece of paper.
Speaker:Now once you've exhausted that and my
Speaker:chances are once you get thinking you'll
Speaker:think of a ton of stuff to outsource But
Speaker:once you feel like you've done that I
Speaker:want you to look at the right hand side
Speaker:and think about the support that you need
Speaker:that would manage the piece on the left.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:So where can you get the support from
Speaker:simply just doing the left hand exercise
Speaker:will help you work out what you can
Speaker:outsource and the right hand side
Speaker:should be who or how you can outsource.
Speaker:I'll give you an example
Speaker:on the home front for me.
Speaker:At the beginning of 2024, the
Speaker:year that we're in, I had a gap.
Speaker:I had a gap because I knew that
Speaker:sometimes my corporate clients needed
Speaker:me on a Wednesday and Wednesday is a
Speaker:pickup, a drop off and pick up from
Speaker:school and a snack and then swimming.
Speaker:I knew that.
Speaker:So I needed to find someone who would
Speaker:be able to collect Evie from school.
Speaker:Bring her home for a snack,
Speaker:take her to swimming.
Speaker:I found a wonderful lady called Barbie.
Speaker:Barbie is retired, but she loves
Speaker:beautiful handbags to help me with that.
Speaker:I'm quite sure Barbie doesn't listen
Speaker:to this, but Barbie, if you do so
Speaker:much gratitude to you, Evie and Barbie
Speaker:have the most beautiful relationship.
Speaker:It's like a grandma and a
Speaker:granddaughter relationship.
Speaker:I come home and I say to Evie, what
Speaker:did you and Barbie talk about today?
Speaker:And she'll say, Oh mom, Barbie,
Speaker:Barbie used to be a model.
Speaker:Barbie showed me how
Speaker:to do, a cat walk move.
Speaker:Do you want to see it?
Speaker:Or Barbie told me about her grandkids
Speaker:or Barbie showed me photos of this
Speaker:or Barbie talked about her cat.
Speaker:Evie loves cats And that has
Speaker:been a game changer for us.
Speaker:I can completely trust Barbie.
Speaker:She.
Speaker:Loves Evie.
Speaker:She brings Evie little gifts, doesn't
Speaker:need to, but brings her little gifts,
Speaker:and I know that she's in safe hands.
Speaker:Now I found Barbie through just a
Speaker:babysitting app, I grilled a few
Speaker:of the people that had responded
Speaker:to my ad and Barbie was excellent.
Speaker:Barbie came over, had a cup of
Speaker:tea with us beforehand to see
Speaker:if her and Evie would get on.
Speaker:And she met myself and
Speaker:she met my husband.
Speaker:and that just was a tiny bit of
Speaker:effort at the start of the year.
Speaker:And that's been a game changer for us.
Speaker:Also on the home front, I do drop
Speaker:off and pick up for school on a
Speaker:Monday, Wednesday and a Friday.
Speaker:And one of Evie's friend's mum
Speaker:was struggling with an injury,
Speaker:which meant she was struggling
Speaker:to get her kid to school.
Speaker:One of her daughters.
Speaker:And I offered and she said yes.
Speaker:And now I swing past Monday,
Speaker:Wednesday, Friday, collect her
Speaker:daughter and drop her daughter off.
Speaker:It's no skin off my nose.
Speaker:We're practically drive straight past.
Speaker:It helps another mum out
Speaker:and the girls love it.
Speaker:It's like win, win, win.
Speaker:Sometimes it pays to offer and
Speaker:sometimes it pays to be generous, right?
Speaker:You do what you can do
Speaker:with what you've got.
Speaker:So.
Speaker:What do you need?
Speaker:Do you need a cleaner
Speaker:to lighten the load?
Speaker:Do you need a meal delivery service?
Speaker:Do you need a more frequent
Speaker:meal delivery service?
Speaker:I had a client who hit a target
Speaker:in her business, a number
Speaker:target, a revenue target.
Speaker:And when she got that, she hired a chef.
Speaker:She hired a chef to create
Speaker:beautiful meals for her family.
Speaker:And the chef came once a week, did the
Speaker:menu prep, went and bought everything,
Speaker:made all the meals and they were done.
Speaker:Perfect.
Speaker:Do you need to switch to
Speaker:online grocery ordering so you
Speaker:don't have to go to the shops?
Speaker:Like, what are the things that really
Speaker:bug you that you need to get sorted?
Speaker:One of the things we do here at Team
Speaker:McQueen is book my hair appointments.
Speaker:It sounds so random, doesn't it?
Speaker:But at the beginning of the
Speaker:year, Serena, who's my business
Speaker:manager, she rings my hairdresser.
Speaker:I have had my hairdresser
Speaker:for 20 years, ladies.
Speaker:So, you know, you stick with
Speaker:a good hairdresser, don't you?
Speaker:and they book in
Speaker:quarterly sessions for me.
Speaker:Now it takes three hours
Speaker:to get this hair done.
Speaker:So it's quite the effort.
Speaker:So she rings Adriana, Adriana
Speaker:books me in for the entire year.
Speaker:I know it sounds a bit OCD, but it works
Speaker:for us knowing it's in the diary, right?
Speaker:I do the same with our dog grooming.
Speaker:I set his grooms for the year
Speaker:and then I can forget about it.
Speaker:And I do forget about it because
Speaker:my memory is not very good.
Speaker:I do the same for eye tests, for boobie
Speaker:checks, my mammograms, for doctor's
Speaker:appointments, for optometry appointments.
Speaker:Some won't let you book in
Speaker:that far out, but for those
Speaker:that do, I absolutely do that.
Speaker:Where else can you get help from?
Speaker:We don't have any grandparents per
Speaker:se, but between the school mums, we
Speaker:found a little community and there's
Speaker:a community of local business owners
Speaker:who help each other out as well.
Speaker:Where else can you swap?
Speaker:When Evie was really little, I swapped
Speaker:with another new mum and we had date
Speaker:night a month, Now, unfortunately,
Speaker:this is the mums picking it up, right?
Speaker:So.
Speaker:You know, there was that, but
Speaker:it meant that we could each go
Speaker:out on a date night a month.
Speaker:And that worked really well for us.
Speaker:This is all about setting
Speaker:yourself up for success.
Speaker:It's about being clear on the
Speaker:help you need because you need to
Speaker:have the clarity, but also knowing
Speaker:that people won't do it your way.
Speaker:So if I ask someone to help me
Speaker:out, I can't expect that they will
Speaker:do it the same way that I do it.
Speaker:So I need to either be happy
Speaker:with that or do that myself.
Speaker:I am not a control freak,
Speaker:so I'm like, you do you.
Speaker:Thank you for helping me.
Speaker:Most people are very keen to
Speaker:help out if you just ask them,
Speaker:what does this trigger for you?
Speaker:Do you need to look at more
Speaker:outsourcing in your business, at
Speaker:home, in your life in general?
Speaker:What is it that you need support with
Speaker:and how can you get that support?
Speaker:I would encourage you as you set
Speaker:yourself up for the next year to think
Speaker:about what little things are you doing
Speaker:where actually your time could be
Speaker:spent elsewhere and what things are you
Speaker:doing where if you hand it over to a
Speaker:professional, you might get a better job.
Speaker:It might save you a stack of cash
Speaker:in the long run and it frees you up
Speaker:to do other stuff in your business.
Speaker:I hope this episode has helped.
Speaker:Until next time.
Speaker:See you soon.
