Speaker:Hello there, Modern Man. In this episode, we're going to talk
Speaker:about why your erection leave you when you have no trouble
Speaker:getting an erection initially. I hear this a lot, where "I don't
Speaker:have any problem getting an erection, but I have a hard
Speaker:problem maintaining the erection to finish, or maintaining
Speaker:firmness." We're going to go into the top seven reason why
Speaker:you have problem maintaining your erection and your erection
Speaker:leave you. I'm Dr. Anne Truong, stay tuned. You'll be surprised
Speaker:what number seven is.
Speaker:So number one is smoking. Why smoking is bad? That's including
Speaker:vaping as well too. The reason why smoking is bad because it's
Speaker:inflammatory. It affects your blood flow, because what it does
Speaker:is that it decreases blood flow down below in order for it to
Speaker:get a firm erection. That's number one.
Speaker:Number two is alcohol. Drinking more than about 14 drinks a
Speaker:week. Because alcohol, again, is inflammatory. Your body consider
Speaker:that as foreign. So what it does is that it decreases blood flow
Speaker:to where you need it the most, when you need it the most.
Speaker:Number three is what you eat. That is probably the number one
Speaker:factor affecting your erection, is what you put in here. So I
Speaker:always tell my patient, follow the Mediterranean diet. What
Speaker:that is, it's eating the food that Mother Earth gave you. Eat
Speaker:what the earth grow for you. Lean meat, chicken, fish. You
Speaker:can do red meat, but probably not every day. Maybe twice a
Speaker:week or three times a week. But eat what the earth gave you.
Speaker:Don't eat anything in a bag or box or a can. Focus more on
Speaker:whole food. Focus more on vegetables and fruit. What the
Speaker:bad stuff is that donut baked goods, fried food and sweets,
Speaker:and anything that has a lot of sugar and fat at the same time,
Speaker:the worst. So a Mediterranean diet, check out the link right

Speaker:Mediterranean diet, it laid out what to eat every day.
Speaker:Number four is lack of exercise. You know when I mean exercise?
Speaker:I'm not telling you run a marathon or try to do hard
Speaker:exercise. Even just walking 30 minutes a day is exercise or
Speaker:even walking up and down the stairs is exercise. Even doing
Speaker:housework is exercise. And your wife's gonna like this, doing
Speaker:yard work is also exercise as well too. As long as you're
Speaker:moving it is exercise. We should do that around 30 minutes, about
Speaker:three to four times a week is optimal. And you want to get
Speaker:your heart rate up to a point that is hard for you to count to
Speaker:10 easily. So moderate level of exercise. But you can do biking.
Speaker:You can do swimming, walking, even weight training. The prefer
Speaker:exercise is high intensity interval exercise, or HIIT
Speaker:exercise, where you do a fast exercise for like a minute, and
Speaker:then rest a minute and do fast exercise for a minute, and you
Speaker:do it for about 20 to 30 minutes. But that's not for
Speaker:everybody. I get it. The best form of exercise is walking.
Speaker:It's outside. You enjoy the fresh air. It relaxes you as
Speaker:well.
Speaker:Number five is common medication that you take actually will
Speaker:decrease your erection. Such as your blood pressure medication,
Speaker:can affect your erection. Your antidepressant medication, as
Speaker:well as your diuretics that you take. Again, diuretics are the
Speaker:water pill that you take for your blood pressure medicine.
Speaker:Now I'm not saying stop your medication at all. I'm just
Speaker:saying these medications can counteract the erection and that
Speaker:you should talk with your doctor about your medication. So do not
Speaker:stop your medication. However, you can counteract that by
Speaker:exercising, by changing what you eat, by stopping smoking and
Speaker:limiting your alcohol. So that way you can take the medication
Speaker:but it will not affect your erection.
Speaker:Okay, Modern Man, you are not alone and you don't have to

Speaker:Number six is sleep. Getting inadequate sleep. You should
Speaker:sleep seven hours at nighttime is most optimal and good sleep.
Speaker:You want to have sleep that put your rapid eye movement or REM
Speaker:sleep. Because when you have REM sleep, it's when your
Speaker:testosterone are being made, and when you have REM sleep is when
Speaker:your mind and body are truly relaxed. REM sleep is when you
Speaker:dream. It's when you dream you know that you have good REM
Speaker:sleep. So get adequate sleep because that's how you heal, and
Speaker:that's how you make more testosterone, and that's how
Speaker:your mind is more relaxed. And in fact, when you have REM
Speaker:sleep, you also have a morning wood or nighttime wood, because
Speaker:that happens during REM sleep. Because your REM sleep is when
Speaker:your testosterone is made, and that's why, in the morning,
Speaker:between five to seven, your testosterone level is at its
Speaker:highest, and that when it coincide with you having morning
Speaker:wood.
Speaker:So that lead us to number seven, porn. If you're watching porn,
Speaker:porn is more easily accessible now than ever, so when you're
Speaker:watching porn, it messes up with how arousal is processed in your
Speaker:brain. It messes up with how you release dopamine, dopamine is
Speaker:the feel me good hormone that gets released when you get
Speaker:aroused. That's when you get released when you have an orgasm
Speaker:and ejaculation, and that gets messed up, therefore the
Speaker:processing of arousal is disrupted. That's how porn
Speaker:affect your erection, where you can get an erection watching
Speaker:porn, but you can sometimes struggle with getting erection
Speaker:with a partner.
Speaker:So those are the top seven reasons why your erection leave
Speaker:you when you need it the most. And if you just make a little
Speaker:tweak, maybe one out of seven, maybe moderate your alcohol and
Speaker:drinking less, or maybe thinking about eating less processed
Speaker:food, less sugary food, and less fatty food, that will also help.
Speaker:I'm not saying do all seven at the same time, but maybe start
Speaker:with one for a few months, and then get your blood work
Speaker:checked, because if you change your diet, you can definitely
Speaker:see if your blood sugar is improved. You can see if your
Speaker:cholesterol is improved. And if you sleep better, you will
Speaker:notice more frequent morning wood, more peaceful. You know,
Speaker:when you wake up in the morning and porn is either yes or no.
Speaker:It's like you can't just watch a little bit of porn and be okay.
Speaker:You've got to stop. It's no in between there as well. So
Speaker:imagine you do all seven at the same time, it will accumulate,
Speaker:and you'll be surprised what a difference it will make for your
Speaker:erection. I would do all this first and get your blood work
Speaker:done and check your testosterone level before you take an ED
Speaker:medication, because you will be surprised that making one trick
Speaker:will create a great erection.
