Speaker A

Hello, and welcome back to the Elevated Edit Podcast.

Speaker A

Today's episode is an episode that I have been excited about for a hot minute.

Speaker A

Okay.

Speaker A

And when I sat down to outline the episode, I.

Speaker A

I had an idea of where I wanted it to go.

Speaker A

And I quickly realized I was like, that's a super long, very overwhelming episode.

Speaker A

So there's going to be more episodes coming out about this specific topic because I'm so passionate about it and it gets me so fired up and it makes me so excited.

Speaker A

But I wanted to lay a foundation and that's what we're going to do today.

Speaker A

But today we're going to talk about mastering communication with AI, specifically with Chat GPT.

Speaker A

I'm not going to go down the whole gauntlet and rabbit hole of AI.

Speaker A

We're really going to focus on ChatGPT today.

Speaker A

Y'all know I'm all about simplicity around here, so don't try to learn all the different AI platforms at once.

Speaker A

Just focus on one and one disclaimer.

Speaker A

Because I'm not sure what the different versions have.

Speaker A

I pay.

Speaker A

I have a paid version of Chat gbt.

Speaker A

So if you are using the free version, some of these tips might not apply to you, but I would.

Speaker A

I would highly consider getting the paid version of Chat GPT.

Speaker A

I have never had any one thing be more beneficial to me than this.

Speaker A

And I was actually in a class it was in.

Speaker A

So chat GPT, I think, came out November of 2022, and I took the class in January of 2023, I think, and it was all.

Speaker A

It was completely free, all of it was at that time.

Speaker A

And I remember the instructor saying, we better get in and learn this now, because one day, AI is going to be so expensive that we're not going to be able to, like, laymen are not going to have access to it.

Speaker A

And I was like, oh, it's about to be big.

Speaker A

So all the disclaimers are out.

Speaker A

I pay for the paid version.

Speaker A

I think it's worth it.

Speaker A

AI is probably going to get more expensive.

Speaker A

It's going to continuously change.

Speaker A

It's going to continuously evolve.

Speaker A

I think that we're at the very beginning of what AI is going to be.

Speaker A

I know that freaks a lot of people out.

Speaker A

I'm the exact opposite.

Speaker A

It fires me up.

Speaker A

I love AI.

Speaker A

I have, I'm subscribed to so many, like AI influencers and AI researchers.

Speaker A

And those are the first emails that I go to.

Speaker A

When I get to my email block, I'm like, AI emails first.

Speaker A

What's new in AI?

Speaker A

Like, what is coming out in AI?

Speaker A

Like, it literally makes me so excited.

Speaker A

But to back up, I have heard this more often than I would like.

Speaker A

When I get excited talking about ChatGPT and I'm like pumped up and I'm in a conversation with someone, I've had the experience where someone has said to me, oh, well, you know what?

Speaker A

When I like try to get something from Chat GPT, it just sounds very robotic.

Speaker A

Like it sounds like AI and it's just not something I would ever use.

Speaker A

Like, how are you getting results from AI?

Speaker A

And I'm like, it is how you communicate with it.

Speaker A

That's all that it comes down to.

Speaker A

Your output is going to be completely dependent on your input 100%.

Speaker A

That's why you're going to have some people get super average results from Chat GPT and then you're going to have some people that literally build Fortune 500 companies from chat GPT only.

Speaker A

And the only difference is going to be how the two different sets of people talk to it.

Speaker A

Communication with AI matters so much.

Speaker A

I'm going to repeat the principle again because it sounds so simple.

Speaker A

But, but as we talk about on the podcast often, simple is not always easy.

Speaker A

Output equals input.

Speaker A

So you cannot blame AI if you get a robotic response.

Speaker A

If you get a response that's not creative, if you get a very generic response, I, I'm going to be as kind as I can and I'm a hold your hand when I say this.

Speaker A

But if you're getting responses like that, it's 100% your fault.

Speaker A

Completely poor questions, unclear prompts are going to lead to mediocre results.

Speaker A

Clear intentional inputs, however, can lock unlock powerful personalized outcomes.

Speaker A

The things that I I Chat GPT blows my mind every single day.

Speaker A

Every single day I feel like I get better at communicating with it.

Speaker A

Every single day.

Speaker A

I am constantly refining, reiterating, testing, experimenting, imagine, like all the things.

Speaker A

Because I constantly want to get better at communicating with AI, because I constantly want to get better results.

Speaker A

And I hear people often get on their high horse and they go, oh, don't you feel like you're cheating when you use ChatGPT?

Speaker A

When you use AI.

Speaker A

Like don't you feel like you just aren't using your God given talent?

Speaker A

Like we're going to get to a point where just, we can't even think anymore if people just keep using chat GBT like this.

Speaker A

And my response to them is always this, why don't you walk everywhere?

Speaker A

Like if, if somewhere, if something is, you know, 60 miles away, why don't you walk there?

Speaker A

And they're like well I've got a, because I've got a car.

Speaker A

Like why would I walk when I can drive?

Speaker A

I'm like oh no, no, no, no.

Speaker A

If we're using our God given talents, if we're completely ignoring innovation and invention and progress, then walk everywhere, don't get in a car, don't drive.

Speaker A

That's the easy way out.

Speaker A

We're going to lose our ability to go anywhere if we constantly use a car.

Speaker A

And you can kind of start to see the wheels turning and it's like that's exactly what AI is.

Speaker A

You know, I'm sure there was a time where people were like, look at those people over there using that car.

Speaker A

They're so lazy.

Speaker A

We, we use our, we walk or we use a horse and carriage.

Speaker A

But eventually people started to see like, okay, if the technology is there, if it is present, if it is going to make my trip feel faster, more efficient, easier, if it's going to help me produce my end result faster, why wouldn't I use it?

Speaker A

Why wouldn't I use a car to get where I want to go?

Speaker A

Why wouldn't I use chat GPT to get where I want to go?

Speaker A

My ideas are going in, they're being improved and then I pull them out.

Speaker A

And my brain, I don't care how advanced AI gets, at least this is how I feel about myself.

Speaker A

My brain is always going to be better than AI.

Speaker A

It's always going to be one step ahead.

Speaker A

So I will, this is how transparently this is how I use ChatGPT.

Speaker A

Well I use it for a lot of different ways but most of the time this is how the process works.

Speaker A

I will have an idea and I will take it to ChatGPT and I will say hey ChatGPT, I'm actually have my chat to be named.

Speaker A

I'm not going to tell you all what her name is, but call her by her name.

Speaker A

I'll say hey, this is an idea that I have based on my three year vision which is stored in the memory.

Speaker A

We're going to get to that one in a little bit.

Speaker A

I want you to brainstorm five Possible iterations of this idea.

Speaker A

So CHAT GPT will give me and so then I'll say, okay, can you take idea number three and do a little research for me and give me that research?

Speaker A

And so she'll research and then I will take that research out of ChatGPT.

Speaker A

I'll have my, either my big post it or a whiteboard or even just a piece of paper and I will go to town.

Speaker A

I will like a mad scientist over here.

Speaker A

I'll get all my ideas out.

Speaker A

I'll brainstorm like crazy.

Speaker A

I'll come up with action steps, all the things.

Speaker A

And then I'll take that whole idea brain dump and I'll put it back in, back in Chat GPT and I'll say, okay, I just brain dumped this for the last 30 minutes.

Speaker A

Can you take this and organize it into something tangible?

Speaker A

And ChatGPT is like absolutely 100% now.

Speaker A

That is not, that is not how I don't use vague prompts like that.

Speaker A

But that in general is how I use ChatGPT.

Speaker A

It gives me ideas, it helps, it helps me think bigger when it comes to my ideas.

Speaker A

And then I run wild with it.

Speaker A

Like sometimes all I need is a little spark and then like my mind will like set the flame.

Speaker A

And then I, I 100 let AI give me an action list.

Speaker A

I'm like, organize all this for me.

Speaker A

Because I could sit there and go, okay, I'm gonna put this in Trello.

Speaker A

I'm gonna put this in Notion.

Speaker A

I'm gonna put this in Google Calendar.

Speaker A

I will say, my Chat GPT is trained to give me.

Speaker A

It knows where I want to put my notes.

Speaker A

It'll say, create a Google Doc and put this in there.

Speaker A

Create a Notion board and put this in there.

Speaker A

Create a Trello board and put this in there.

Speaker A

And then put this in your Google Calendar.

Speaker A

I'm like, great, Boom.

Speaker A

We got a plan.

Speaker A

We have an action plan.

Speaker A

So I want you to, if you have like resistance towards AI or maybe you're one of those people that goes, people that use AI are so lazy.

Speaker A

They, it's just, oh, if you have that mindset, just be open to what is possible.

Speaker A

Be open to the fact that maybe ChatGPT is the car and if the technology is there, why not use it?

Speaker A

Like, I'm a firm believer.

Speaker A

I'm all about AI doing my heavy lifting.

Speaker A

If I don't have to organize my notes and come up with a slide deck or, you know, all these things.

Speaker A

Like, ChatGPT does so much for me.

Speaker A

I, I'm 100% going to let ChatGPT do the heavy lifting.

Speaker A

So that way I can be a visionary.

Speaker A

I can think big, I can think future, I can think forward, I can be 20 steps ahead and I can let my ChatGPT do all the hard work.

Speaker A

I'm totally fine with that.

Speaker A

I, I am a hundred percent okay with that and some might disagree with me, but it's okay.

Speaker A

Hopefully you're at least open to the idea.

Speaker A

So I have some really good tips for communicating effectively with AI.

Speaker A

If you're someone might be struggling with getting very generic responses, getting very vague responses, we're going to really get into this and I think these steps are really going to help you.

Speaker A

So tip number one, be clear and specific.

Speaker A

The more precise your questions or instructions, the better your results are going to be.

Speaker A

We want to avoid vague or overly broad prompts.

Speaker A

So I'm going to give you two different examples.

Speaker A

Okay, option number one, I go to ChatGPT and I say hey ChatGPT, can you give me a, an Instagram post about how effective systems are?

Speaker A

It would give me the most boring post I've ever heard in my whole life versus option number two, if I went to ChatGPT and let me think of something crazy random.

Speaker A

So specific.

Speaker A

Okay, say I was a salesman and I sold a POS system.

Speaker A

So point of sale, a POS system for it.

Speaker A

If you're not in that background, a point of sale is like payment system and you can have all your back end.

Speaker A

Anyway, I sell a POS system to a scuba dive, scuba diving instructors that own their own company.

Speaker A

That is my like that I have a software that's specifically for them.

Speaker A

So random.

Speaker A

I don't know where that came from.

Speaker A

But anyway, say that that's what I do.

Speaker A

I, I created a software that is a POS system for scuba diving instructors who own their own business and sell scuba diving equipment as well.

Speaker A

And I want to specifically target because there's probably not going to be a ton of like females in that area.

Speaker A

I would imagine maybe there's thousands and I just don't know.

Speaker A

But I would go to Chat GBT and I would say hey Chat GPT I am.

Speaker A

Blah blah blah.

Speaker A

I would tell them exactly what my product is that I'm selling and I would say I want to speak specifically to 28 to 34 year old women who are in this industry and this is where you really need to know.

Speaker A

You need to know your product knowledge.

Speaker A

You need to know about your business and about your audience and your market.

Speaker A

Like you have to know that information so that you can put it in ChatGPT.

Speaker A

I can tell you exactly what ages my target audience is.

Speaker A

I don't expect ChatGPT to know that.

Speaker A

I know that.

Speaker A

And so I would say okay, 20, between 27 and 34.

Speaker A

And they are in the first to third year of their business and they have primarily been using, you know, just checker cash up to this point.

Speaker A

But they're really wanting to step it up in their shop and they are wanting to streamline things.

Speaker A

And so I'm selling them a positive system to help them streamline their back end and their payment so that they can grow and maybe hopefully one day go online, you know, or whatever it is.

Speaker A

Think of how specific that second option is versus the first option.

Speaker A

If I was just like, hey, I have a POS system to sell.

Speaker A

Can you give me a cool post about it versus like 27 to 34 in their first to 30 year business.

Speaker A

And then like this is again where you can get so granular with your product knowledge because you can like talk specifically to them.

Speaker A

You can say, like, say you found out that that target audience really loved Taylor Swift.

Speaker A

You could say, and I, I want to talk to someone who loves Taylor Swift.

Speaker A

Can you give me a captivating and attention grabbing social media post that is going to talk directly to, directly to that avatar?

Speaker A

ChatGPT is going to blow your mind versus if you just said, Hey, I have a POS system for scuba diving instructors, can you give me a post to help promote it?

Speaker A

Like, do you see the difference between like how specific and how granular you can get versus how like vague and broad in general or general you can get?

Speaker A

Those two different requests are going to give very different answers and it all comes down to what you put in.

Speaker A

If you're not putting amazing, detailed, descriptive questions and requests into Chad GPT, you're not going to get these mind blowing things out of it.

Speaker A

So be very precise with your questions and instructions.

Speaker A

Number two, provide context.

Speaker A

I don't know how comfortable you feel.

Speaker A

So a lot of people, this is a lot of pushback that I've gotten is they're like, well, I don't want them to know all of my personal information.

Speaker A

Like my chatgpt does not know all my personal information.

Speaker A

I actually just found out.

Speaker A

So funny that I'm actually talking about this.

Speaker A

My chatgpt did not know my first name.

Speaker A

I don't know how that happened.

Speaker A

But my CHAT GPT didn't even know my name.

Speaker A

I was just some generic business owner out here in the world, which is really hilarious to me.

Speaker A

But within ChatGPT, you, you have a memory in there and like every once a week mine pops up.

Speaker A

Memory full, memory full, memory full.

Speaker A

And I will go in and I will like go with a fine tooth comb and I'll delete all the memories that I don't want it to remember.

Speaker A

And it'll remember, I don't know what the scale of it is, but I have like 100 memories in there, so I'll delete because sometimes it'll just be random stuff.

Speaker A

And what I've started to do is I'll tell chatgpt, hey, I want you to rem this or hey, I don't want you to remember this.

Speaker A

Like I want you to add this to memory or I don't want you to add this to memory.

Speaker A

And so my chat BC knows my brand voice.

Speaker A

It knows my goals for the podcast.

Speaker A

It knows my goals for the elevated edit co.

Speaker A

It knows my three year vision in my business, my five year vision, my ten year vision.

Speaker A

It knows exactly who my avatar is.

Speaker A

Based on research that I did.

Speaker A

Like I've put all this into ChatGPT.

Speaker A

I didn't expect it to, to do all this work for me.

Speaker A

It knows how I want a, an Instagram post to be laid out.

Speaker A

It knows I do not want emojis on anything.

Speaker A

I'll add my own emojis if I feel like they're needed.

Speaker A

It knows all the, the branding and the messaging and the avatars and all of the like, audience preferences, everything I've put in there and I've stored it to memory.

Speaker A

So when I give ChatGPT a preference prompt, I can give it a very clear scenario.

Speaker A

And I can say based on my three year goal, I want you to let me think of something really specific, a very clear scenario.

Speaker A

Okay, say that I am.

Speaker A

I've got a coaching client who kind of hit me with a, a problem that she's dealing with in her business that I'm not familiar with because there's a ton of industries I'm not super familiar with.

Speaker A

But I always want to provide value where I can.

Speaker A

And one thing you'll learn about me is I am never going to make up an answer.

Speaker A

I'll say, I'm not 100% sure on that, but I'll get back to you.

Speaker A

So say I've got a client with a really interesting situation and an interesting perspective, interesting background.

Speaker A

I will go into ChatGPT and I'll say, hey ChatGPT, I want to give my client a journal prompt to help her Work through this problem based on my Systems Academy.

Speaker A

So ChatGPT has the outline for the Systems Academy saved in my memory so it can run through that document.

Speaker A

It knows every week all the material and it can speak on my behalf as if it were a coach for the Systems Academy.

Speaker A

I can say based on the Systems Academy material, can you help me come up with a journal prompt to help my client work through this specific issue for her specific industry for this one specific problem that she specifically has?

Speaker A

And it'll give me journal prompts and I mean it's just so, it's so good if you get so specific with it.

Speaker A

So provide lots of context.

Speaker A

Why are you needing it?

Speaker A

What are you wanting it for?

Speaker A

What's the background information like?

Speaker A

Give as much detail and as much information as you possibly can as you as you're comfortable with.

Speaker A

And the more you give, the better Chat GPT is going to be able to give you better output number three.

Speaker A

Iterate and refine.

Speaker A

Don't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, never ever, ever take the first answer that Chat GPT gives you.

Speaker A

Ever.

Speaker A

The first answer that Chat GPT gives you is probably going to be terrible.

Speaker A

Sometimes Chat GBT will give me an answer and I'm just like, what?

Speaker A

Okay, we're not on the same page.

Speaker A

And I always try to be very polite just in case because you never know, but I will.

Speaker A

Chat GPT will give me an answer and I'll read through it.

Speaker A

I'm like, we're clearly not on the same page.

Speaker A

And so I'll go back in and I'll say, okay, that was a good start.

Speaker A

You know me, I'm like, that's a great start, friend.

Speaker A

That was a good start.

Speaker A

However, you missed the mark here.

Speaker A

I actually wanted you to do this and this and this and this and this.

Speaker A

So constantly reiterate.

Speaker A

I'll say soften that up a little bit or that needs to be a little bit more aggressive or that's not packing a punch like I want or add a better hook or finish off stronger.

Speaker A

Add a better cta.

Speaker A

Like whatever it is, constantly reiterate.

Speaker A

Don't take the first thing that Chat GPT gives you.

Speaker A

It might be good, but you can always get better.

Speaker A

And if it's a 30 second fix, why don't you just let ChatGPT run and just see how far it goes.

Speaker A

You might end up liking that first one better, but just see how many different iterations that you can get from it.

Speaker A

From it.

Speaker A

That is when I found my really like my big things that I've really loved from ChatGPT is when I just try to get deeper and deeper and deeper.

Speaker A

Number four, teach it your preferences.

Speaker A

So I mentioned this a little bit earlier about memory, but regularly remind ChatGPT of your preferred style, tone or details to train it and customize its responses to better match your needs.

Speaker A

So if you open up my chatgpt and put a prompt in there, it is going to specifically give you an answer based on what I have told it to, how I've told it to respond.

Speaker A

I am very detailed, very specific and I will go in and I will say we need to update our brand voice.

Speaker A

Here is the new brand voice that I'm wanting to go towards or here's the new whatever that I want to go towards.

Speaker A

And so I'm constantly, constantly, constantly teaching it new preferences.

Speaker A

Another really cool thing that I love to do with ChatGPT as far as preferences goes is I will set up a board of directors for my life, my business, the podcast, whatever it is.

Speaker A

I will set up a board of directors and my board of directors changes occasionally.

Speaker A

But I will say I want to create a board of directors based I'm just going to pick some random people that I've used.

Speaker A

I don't even know who's in there now but.

Speaker A

And you can judge these people if you want.

Speaker A

But I'll say pretend like my board of directors is consists of Elon Musk and Taylor Swift, which y'all know I don't super love her music.

Speaker A

But as a business owner and like an entrepreneur and marketing mindset, I have a ton of respect for her.

Speaker A

Ton of respect.

Speaker A

Kobe Bryant and Oprah and Steve Jobs.

Speaker A

Pretend like they are my board of directors.

Speaker A

Run this idea by them and tell me what their advice is.

Speaker A

And sometimes I'm like, what?

Speaker A

No, ignore.

Speaker A

But other times I'm like there'll be like one little thing in a response that will shift my brain or shift my mindset or make me go, oh wow, I never thought about it like that.

Speaker A

I never thought about it in that way.

Speaker A

And you can, you can go any direction.

Speaker A

You can go like Shakespeare, like have Shakespeare read over this, this storyline for me or what are some other really specific things that I can do?

Speaker A

Like when I was working on my launch, Taylor Swift was actually who I used.

Speaker A

I said, I want to do a Taylor Swift level launch.

Speaker A

What are some things that I can do?

Speaker A

And so a lot of my ideas I got from that.

Speaker A

And so just really teach it your preferences, teach it how you want it to communicate, teach it what funnel you want it to run through.

Speaker A

Because if you don't do all that, if you don't do the backend work, it's just going to give you plain Jane, generic.

Speaker A

And number five, experiment often.

Speaker A

I love to experiment.

Speaker A

I love to play around.

Speaker A

I mean, y'all heard, I'll have a board of directors.

Speaker A

I even like, I'll just do all kinds of wild, crazy stuff with ChatGPT.

Speaker A

And sometimes it just makes me laugh.

Speaker A

Like I'll just delete it and be like, that was crazy.

Speaker A

But other times I come up like, I have really, like, good ideas that come from it.

Speaker A

And like I said, I, me and CHAT GBT will go back and forth.

Speaker A

I will give it a prompt or a question or a request and it'll give me something that'll trigger a thought.

Speaker A

And I'm like, go deeper on this and it'll come back and I'll say, go deeper on this and then I'll.

Speaker A

I mean, it's just like we're back and forth.

Speaker A

It's like a ping pong game.

Speaker A

It's so good.

Speaker A

And so my request to you, especially if you are someone who resists AI or like AI is like really uncomfortable to you and you're just like, I'm just gonna ignore that.

Speaker A

It's not going anywhere.

Speaker A

It's.

Speaker A

It's going to become more.

Speaker A

And I think just like anything, you know, people say this about money.

Speaker A

Like, if people get a lot of money, they don't.

Speaker A

If someone gets a lot of money and they become like, greedy and selfish, they.

Speaker A

The money didn't make them greedy and selfish.

Speaker A

They were already greedy and selfish.

Speaker A

And the money just amplified it.

Speaker A

I think AI is going to amplify voices and minds and creativity and imagination.

Speaker A

And my biggest fear, I'll be super honest, when it comes to AI, is that all of the.

Speaker A

And I hate generalizing people as good people and bad people, but I hope you know, like, where I'm coming from and I say this, the bad people are going to use AI a thousand percent.

Speaker A

They are going to use AI in ways that blows our mind.

Speaker A

I mean, we're already seeing systems being hacked.

Speaker A

And I mean, like the way that they can hack things Even now in 2025, like, that part does kind of freak me out a little bit because in a couple of years, it's just, it can.

Speaker A

It's that can.

Speaker A

That part can get really crazy.

Speaker A

But I do worry that the quote unquote, good people are going to resist it and not dive into it the same way.

Speaker A

And I.

Speaker A

It just makes me think like, if that much bad can be done, how much good can be done?

Speaker A

Like, if the very best people in the world got so excited about AI and they just used it with every piece of vigor and gumption that they had.

Speaker A

Like, how much growth could happen and how much good and excitement and progress and.

Speaker A

Oh, it just.

Speaker A

It literally lights me up.

Speaker A

And so that is, like, that is one of my biggest fears is that people are going to look at AI and go, oh, that's bad.

Speaker A

Or they're not going to use it to its fullest potential.

Speaker A

And if I have to, like, stand up on a podium and be like, AI, I will, because I just.

Speaker A

I think it can amplify voices and imaginations and it can make things so clear and it can.

Speaker A

This is something cool that I'll even do.

Speaker A

Like, I will.

Speaker A

I have done this before because I.

Speaker A

I've never been diagnosed with adhd, but I do have some, like, ADHD moments, and I'll take it.

Speaker A

Like, if I'm struggling through a project, I will give ChatGPT my action list and I'll say, hey, I'm really struggling through this action list.

Speaker A

Can you give me this action list in an ADHD friendly form?

Speaker A

And it will.

Speaker A

And then I'm able to fly through it, like, oh, that's.

Speaker A

That helped a lot.

Speaker A

Like, that's so much easier.

Speaker A

And I just.

Speaker A

I just think there's so much potential and so much possibility.

Speaker A

So with this, I want you to remember that AI can revolutionize your productivity, creativity, your business, your life, all the things, if you learn to speak its language clearly and intentionally.

Speaker A

I hope that this episode brought you some value.

Speaker A

I hope I'm not just a crazy lady, like, talking off into the void.

Speaker A

This stuff really excites me.

Speaker A

It really does, because I.

Speaker A

I just think it has so much potential for so much good.

Speaker A

It makes me.

Speaker A

I'm, like, really passionate about this.

Speaker A

I would love to hear what you think about AI.

Speaker A

Like, are you resistant about it?

Speaker A

Like, are you excited about it?

Speaker A

Have you been using it to its fullest potential?

Speaker A
