Ep36: Leverage Your Book To Build A MASSIVE Email List

[00:00:00] For every business owner out there, there is one key element inside your business. That is the most important. And that is your email list. Because you own that list. You don't own social media, you don't own Instagram, you don't own Facebook.

[00:00:13] So it's really important to have an email list. when you have a business, because that is the way you can communicate with your clients, communicate with your customers and provide that value that they so desperately need. And the problem that they need solving.

[00:00:27] It's also an important tool to grow your business through email marketing, through offers through again, creating value and trust within your audience. Letting them know that. Yeah, you are a person. You do care about what they want. So in today's episode. I want to talk about how you can grow your email list, with a book. Now the question is, is it better to build an audience before releasing a book or start when your book's released into the world? Now the hard fact is that without an email list or audience, it's tough, but not impossible.

[00:00:59] It's tough to earn a book deal and to publish a book. But with self publishing, you can successfully write, publish and launch your book with, or without an audience. But for the sake of this episode, I'm targeting business owners who already have an audience now when I first released my book, the six pillars of rewarding life. As an author business, my marketing flubbed, my email marketing flop, and I've gotten better at it over the years now with published to impact, I use it as a strategy to bring plenty of leads a month into my business.

[00:01:32] The solution is though it's a system, a solution is a system that helps potential clients come into your world. So you can build that relationship, nurture that relationship, where clients are then able to pay for your goods and services.

[00:01:44] And a book is a really powerful way to achieve this one because it brings you credibility. And two. People get to know you. They get to know the person behind what it is you're offering. So a boot creates a powerful connection. And that's the connection between you. a potential client. People in your audience, people who are just interested in, what you have to offer.

[00:02:06] And when someone reads your book, They get a feel for your personality, that they get a feel for you, what you've been through your experiences and how you're solving their problems. They begin to connect with you on a deeper level.

[00:02:18] And they do this because of the value you've given them and the authenticity in what it is you're offering. And that is a book.

[00:02:25] So let's now look at Y grow your email list with a book. Again, when you own your email list, you control building and fostering those relationships, social media marketing. Yes, it can be effective, but you're constantly at the mercy of. Algorithms companies advertising and constant changes they make in their platforms. Now there are two main goals for growing your email list as part of your book launch. The first one is to get as many people on your list before your book is launched and to get as many people on your list after your book is launched. So those goals are simple.

[00:03:02] H potential Reader who opts into your book. So you offered them your book in exchange for an email address. They are a potential client. And when they give you their email address, it's up to you, how you want to lead and nurture them into your world.

[00:03:17] But how do you turn those readers into clients now when a potential client buys your book on Amazon? You don't get the details. You wouldn't have any details about the buyer. So it makes it extremely difficult and it makes it extremely tough to. Build a relationship with that person. If you have no way of contacting them. So the question is how do you get that information?

[00:03:37] The best way to do that is to create resources throughout your book.

[00:03:41] If you're writing a book that is helping solve someone's problem. There's a lot of resources that you can provide throughout the book. So in published to impact, I provide a book writing starter kit, and that's a resource library full of tools. That's going to help you. Become an author. And write your book.

[00:03:58] That's included chapter outlines, templates, checklists, all these different things that can help you become an author and write your book because that is the. problem, that I'm trying to help you solve. Right. Publish and launch a book that is going to help make an impact and grow your business.

[00:04:13] So strategically placing resources where your readers can go to, and then they can get that free resource that they find inside your book. And they'll give you the, your aim. They'll give you their email address. And then all of a sudden they get the resource and they are on your email list.

[00:04:29] Now with this, you don't want to overwhelm the reader with the resources. You just want to strategically place them. So for example, at the end of every chapter of published impact, I provide an action steps. And then also with those action steps. Probably about 80% of the time I'm giving a resource, that's going to help them take advantage of that action step and make that action step a whole lot easier because there are many steps to writing and publishing a book.

[00:04:57] I try and give that solution at age point in time.

[00:05:01] And so I've made sure as well, what I'm offering is valuable and related to your goals of writing, of launching and publishing your nonfiction book. The goal is to get someone on your email list where you can then offer further tips, further advice. Courses offers coaching. Different options specific to that person's need.

[00:05:22] Now you might be wondering what type of resource you. want to include in your book. We'll resource is let's. look at the resource being a lead magnet. So a lead generation tool. That's inside your book. So resource is going to be a lead magnet for you.

[00:05:36] You want to ask yourself, what do you have already? That is a value to your reader or to your potential client that you can offer for free. So there's many different types of lead magnets. So you want to consider. You know, PDF workbooks guides, checklists, videos, audio resources.

[00:05:53] Recognize that your readers are likely to be busy people.

[00:05:56] So valuing offerings that are not time consuming. You want to be able to provide something that they can easily revisit serving as a magnet to help keep them engaged with my book, writing starter kit. It is a library, so they'll have access into my website. So they'll get some login details. And then it's almost like a course, but it's a free library where they have several resources under one banner they can keep referring back to it at any point in time as well. So it's really valuable for them because

[00:06:25] I could always offer several different resources where they access it in different areas. But I've decided to create a resource library where Hey, have where they have everything in one spot, that's going to save them time. It's going to save the mental resources. and energy to help getting them started in writing their book. So think about what type of lead magnet you can use inside your book. Another powerful way you can grow your email list with a book is you can give away your ebook version for free. I do that with published impact. It's another powerful way to build your email list and leads. Even though they may not get to read it straight away. If you're funneling them into your email marketing system and you're reminding them that they have a book there that's free and waiting for them to read. They will get to it. And it is a powerful way to build trust in your network and in your ecosystem. Now here's also a hot tip to deliver your ebook. As a lead magnet, there is a tool called book funnel, and it costs a small amount per month, but it is a valuable way and a powerful way to generate leads where the reader can download your book seamlessly on their Kindle and on their E reader.

[00:07:34] It is a way of delivering your book to them easily. But this also won't work. If what you're giving is not of high value. So if your potential clients can't see the value in what you're offering them, They won't know where to go or what to do. So you want to make your lead magnets seen throughout your book? And here are a few ways you can maximize your lead generation and subscriber growth throughout your book. So put a soft lead magnet in, at the very front. So a soft lead magnet is at the beginning of your book.

[00:08:04] Something that is big for free. And I do that as the as my book, writing starter kit. I have that at the very beginning of my book.

[00:08:12] And then also put call to actions throughout the book. So at the end of each chapter up. There will be a task and action step for them to do. And there's a call to action. And if they want a resource to help them with that step, they can either use the starter kit or they can get that singular resource that is there at the end of that chapter for them.

[00:08:31] You then want to include a call to action at the end of the book as well.

[00:08:35] So what we've got is your lead magnets placing at the beginning of your book. So that is a soft lead magnet and then call to actions throughout which way you, where you're providing them resources. And then of course the action at the end of your book, which is considered a hard lead magnet.

[00:08:52] Now, usually the acknowledgement section is a good place.

[00:08:55] So the type of call to action can vary. And it's generally different to the call to action at the front. Think of it this way, though. When you read out, begins your book, they don't know what to expect. So you guide them, taking them on that journey, through your voice, through your experiences, through your authenticity, where they can softly take action throughout your book.

[00:09:14] And if you're ready to get to the end, they've enjoyed what they have to offer and there'll be impacted in some way. So that's where you want to put your hard call to action. So for example, you can invite a reader to your private Facebook group. Or offer them an opportunity to book in a call to work with you. What's the next logical step.

[00:09:31] You want to have them invest in at the end of your book.

[00:09:36] And also here's a tip too, on your paperback book rather than share links to your resources. Consider using QR codes. I did this with publishing impact and I find it a powerful way. And it's an easy way for your reader to use their phone and they can opt in straight away. Instead of typing in the URL and opting in that way.

[00:09:54] So there you have it, that's it for today's episode. What we did cover, we covered why grow your email list with a book, because you want to get as many people on your list before your book launch. And you also want to get many people on your list after your book launch. So consider giving away free resources to get people on your list, to let them know that your book is coming out. And also include resources throughout your book to help get them onto your list to. Because the aim of the game is to turn your readers into clients as well. And there are several different lead magnets.

[00:10:26] So you can use that is inside your book whether they're PDFs, workbooks, mini courses. There's all different kinds of options that are available to you. So think what you've already done inside your business and where are you using that inside your book? And at what point of the journey is that and that's the type of lead magnet that you can use.

[00:10:44] And finally, to maximize the growth of your email list, you want to put a soft lead magnet in at the beginning. You want to put call to actions throughout the book, and you want to include a big call to action at the end, which is the next logical step. After that person has finished reading your book.

[00:11:01] So an action step for you at the end of this episode is to make a list of the different resources you could include in your book.

[00:11:09] And once you do that, let me know what resources you're looking to include inside your book. Reach out to me.
