Welcome back to another episode of health hacks. And in fact, today is the start of a new series focusing on gut health and its importance. It's been a while since I've talked about this, and because it's so important, I want to come back to it. And I love the fact that Hippocrates said way back when, several 1000 years ago, that all disease starts in the gut. And I actually like to flip that on its head and say that all health starts in the gut. And so by focusing on our gut health, we are enhancing the health of our entire body. And this includes mental health. It includes our immune system, because 70% of that is housed in our gut. And it, of course, includes our energy levels. And the reason that it includes mental health is because the gut is what we call now the second brain, and it is literally connected to the brain through the vagus nerve, and we have more neurons in our gut lining than we actually do in our brain. And 90% of serotonin is produced in the gut and dopamine is also produced in the gut. So if our gut is not healthy, then it isn't able to produce the correct amounts of serotonin, our feel good hormone and dopamine, our motivation hormone, in order to have us feeling great in our body, in our minds and about our life, our gut is also the root of many chronic health issues such as autoimmune diseases. It's the reason, you know an unhappy gut is can be the cause of fatigue, and as I've mentioned, mental health disorders. So over this series, I'm going to be talking more about the gut, brain connection, about the guts role in health overall, about leaky gut, the role of diet in the health of our gut, our immune system, how stress impacts our gut, how sleep impacts our gut, how our gut impacts the health of our skin and our weight, as well as detoxifying the gut and how to maintain long term gut health. So keep tuning in to these little mini health hacks over the course of the month, so that you can capture all of this vitally important information around the health of your gut, so that you know how to care for your gut, and the importance of why you need to care for your gut. And I always love to give the why, because when you understand the why, I believe it has you that much more motivated to take action. So enjoy these sessions.
