People would be like, oh, I guess I'm going to pull an all nighter because I have a test today. if I didn't have it by. Whatever time. I said I was going to stop maybe 11 o'clock. If I was really like, Ooh, I gotta study. 11 was probably the latest that I think I've ever stayed up to study. And I would leave people in that study room and I'd be like, well, you have your fun with your all-nighter. I'm headed to bed. Goodnight. If that'll have it by now, I'm just not going to have it. And honestly, that has worked for me. I know my limits. I know that an unrested, Leah is not going to be a productively. It's not going to be. A good situation, really, in any scenario. So I know that I need my sleep.

K66:Welcome back to another episode of systemize her. I'm your host, Leah. And today we are back with another juicy episode. Today is going to be a little bit different. Y'all know. I love the woo, but I mostly enjoy the work. But today we're going to get a little bit more womb. Than actual work, however. You should be able to take today's episode and use it in a very tangible way. Azure planning for next year. So we are going to talk about your version of enough and what that means to you. So. As you may or may not know. Over the summer I took Shainen on his very first speech trip. We got to go to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where Shainen had a blast. It was just me and him. And we got pictures taken. We did all kinds of fun stuff, but we got to hang out on the beach and it was his very first time. Now if you know, Shainen, Shainen does not like to be dirty. So he had a tough time at first, trying to get a handle on the fact that the sand touches you and it stays on your body. And. It took about an hour, probably on the first day for him to get over the fact that he was going to have to be dirty. But he really enjoyed the little beat showers that he got to go to after we got dirty. But anyway, we played around in the sand and. At one point in time, we were walking the beach. And so we're walking down near the water. He of course, was not going to get all the way in there. But we're walking along near the water and I'm just kind of looking down at the ground. And every time we walk. Of course you can see our two sets of footprints. And so me getting all in my fields, I was like, oh, we have two sets of footprints, but. As I turned around to look back, I was going to take a picture. I turned and looked back. And by the time I turned around our footprints from where we had come from, had already washed away. And I was like, oh man, I didn't get to take a picture. That thought kind of stuck with me. I, again, am not usually like a super woo person. But it really got me to thinking about. The fact that we were walking and as we're walking, you can see our footprints. But once we pick them up and we continued on to take our next step. By the time. We even could look down to realize what was happening. Our footprint was washed away. So we were basically leaving our mark. In the sand. In real time and once our feet. We're moved from that space. We were, it was like, we were never there. So we were taking up just enough space in that time to leave our mark. And then allowing. The waves to wash it away. And the next person that would walk behind us, but leave their own footprint. That got me thinking about the amount of space that I take up in the world and the amount of space that I want to take up in the world. It wasn't like, I felt like anything was lost because I only made footprints where I was standing in the footprints that were washed away. We're gone. I wasn't sad about it. I wasn't like distraught about it. I was perfectly happy. Holding hands with my child, walking down the sand, having this experience. And I didn't get to take pictures of our footprints in the sand. And that's fine. I have the memories of what was happening. We were taking up the amount of space that we were designed to take up. My big realization was that the footprints that we leave behind, they don't have to be big. They don't have to be permanent. To have meaning. And as I'm sitting there, we're continuing to play. I'm just listening to the waves, playing with Shainen. I started to think, like I said, about enough and how that translates to business, how much space do we really need to take up? What does success really look like? And does it have to be this huge business in order for it to be. Enough for me, or is enough having maybe myself, maybe a few other. Employees. Or contractors. And letting that be. Exactly what I want and serve its exact purpose. So today we're going to talk about what enough looks like for you. Because really there's no one size fits all. Some of you are going to listen to this and you're going to say, yes, I want to be. A multimillion dollar business owner. I want to own a company that is worth a billion dollars. I have the goal of building something big enough to sell, but there are some of us that are saying, no, I actually just want a few extra thousand dollars a year so that I can travel more so that I can. By myself, nice things so that I can have a new car. And then there are a lot of us that are in between. So some of us are saying, Hey, I do want to build a substantial business, but I don't need it to be worth multi-million dollars. I don't want the things that come along with that. And that's what today's episode is going to be about. If it's something that you've never thought of before, I hope that today I'm going to help you. I start to think about what that looks like, so that you can start to plan. And come up with a long-term vision for you and your business. And that will help to translate to how we plan for next year in 2025. So before we get into the episode, let's take a quick break to pay some bills.

K66:We are back. And as we are diving into this topic of what is enough. The very first thing that I want you to think about is defining your version of success. What does success look like for you? I can tell you for me that I do not desire to have a multimillion dollar business. If it comes at the expense of having to give up time. With my family and with my child. I would like to build a business that will grow as big as I am able to, to sustain it. With myself and a very small team. When I say small, I am thinking that I do not want a team of more than five people. I do not want to be responsible. For employing that many people. And I'm also fine with those people being contractors and not full-time employees. If I am able to create. Hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars from that small of a team, then I'm perfectly happy with that. I would love if I could build a business that would replace my full-time income and allow me to just do what I love day to day. However, if that means that I am. Stressing myself out working 80 hours a week, which is more than I work currently. I don't want a business that big at that expense. So I do not necessarily have a financial goal of what success looks like for me in business. However, I do know that success for me is going to be determined by the amount of time that I get to spend doing. The things that are important to me. And that to me is spending time with my family. Having enough time to rest and recuperate and take care of myself. And then do what I love inside of my business. So as long as I'm able to do those three things, then I am happy to grow my business as big as. As it becomes. When I originally started thinking about. Going into business for myself and how I wanted to build the business. I was kind of caught up in the hype of, oh, I have to create this big thing. I have to be thinking about a business that is sellable. I have to be thinking about. Building a huge team and all of these things. And I will say that part of it was because I was thinking about I was in business prior to COVID, but I honestly didn't really ramp up my business until the COVID timeframe. And if you remember, COVID was the time where everybody was thriving and doing great. And so many of our favorite business owners were talking about their huge teams and how they have teams of 20, how they have people that take care of everything basically in their business. And they get the opportunity to just sit back and watch the money come in. And while that's great. For them. If you are still listening to some of your faves. A big turn of events. And a big push these days is smaller, more manageable teams. A lot of people got overwhelmed with the amount of people that were dependent upon them for their paycheck. A lot of them felt like their teams were too big. They were spending too much money on payroll and all of these things. And they built these huge businesses that require all of these people. And now they were severely unhappy. And they are scaling down the size of their businesses. So I originally did get kind of caught up in that hype. And I was, I spent a lot of time turning my wheels, thinking about. How I was going to grow a business that was big enough to need to be managed by all of these people. And as I was thinking about it more and more, it just was not something that made me happy. I'm like, I, this just does not seem like something that aligns with me. And that was when I really started to have the mindset of maybe this is not what I want. Maybe. I want to just start building my business where I am and not think about scaling and not thinking about how big it needs to be and all of that. Which is what I should've been doing anyway. But you know, when you start hearing your favorite, your, you know, when you start hearing your faves and these good Roos and everything talking about scaling, it's like, oh, I got to think about that because that's what they're thinking about. But when you're absorbing information, make sure that you are meeting the information where you are. And you're taking that through the lens of where you currently are. So. For me, that was a lesson learned, but. I just want to encourage you to sit back and think about. What is going to work for you? Define your own version of enough. Think about what is going to work for you and what is not going to work for you. Think about your non-negotiables. What are you not willing to give up for this success? We always talk about what we are willing to give up. I'm willing to give up sleep. I'm willing to give up. Self care. I'm willing to give up time with my family, those types of things. And that may be true for you, but. Like I said, for me, it's not. So what are your non-negotiables? And what are you okay with growing your business too? As long as dot.dot. As long as what. I am okay. Building my business to. A million dollars, as long as long as it doesn't come at the expense of. Missing Shainen's games. As long as it doesn't come at the expense of. Giving up my eight hours of sleep every night. So finish that sentence and start to jot down those things that you feel like are non-negotiables for you. And that'll help you decide how big of a business you want to build. That feels aligned. With your goals. For some of us enough is going to be making six figures. For some of us enough is going to be making five figures as long as we have more time with our kids and our families. Think about the quality of the life that you'd like to live and not necessarily the quantity of the dollars in your bank account. Although that is going to play a role, obviously we're all in the business of. Owning your own business in order to make some sort of money. Figure out what your money goal is, and then figure out what you are willing to do and not willing to do in order to meet that many goal. So that is the first thing that I want you to think about. The second thing that I want to talk about is why more is not always better. I am a person that has never subscribed to the hustle culture. Anytime people would say like, oh, I can sleep when I'm dead, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I, I immediately tune out, close my ears. That's not me. I have always been a naturally. I have always been a, let me get in bed at a decent time and take myself to sleep. Even when I was younger and I'd like, have my party girl phase where I would go out and things like that, like. If I had to be up in the morning, nine times out of 10, I was not going to be out at night. That was just not my thing. I would have friends that would be kind of out doing their own thing and their parents would be calling me like, where is so-and-so? And I'm like, I don't know, because I'm in bed. I was just never someone that was willing to give up sleep to do really anything. And if I'm tired and I need rest, I'm also not doing it. And I'm still that way to this day. So. I have never been the more and more and more hustle, hustle, hustle, type person. I have always been, let me figure out what it is that I need to do. And the time that I have allotted so that I can get it done in time for me to go to bed or me to have my nap or whatever. Even in nursing school when I would study. Some people thrive off of that hustle mentality. And I'm not, this episode is not to tell you not to. I'm not telling you how I handle things in order for you to change your mindset, to match mine. But I am talking about what is innately me, what is inside of me, how I operate and how I do things and how I had to kind of reframe. What success meant to me because what I was seeing in the mainstream media was not really aligned. Even now, like I am a mom, I have a full-time job. I'm in the military. Like. I have a lot of things that I need to be able to manage at any given time. And I know I can not manage those things on small amounts of sleep. I need to be able to get my rest. And have these boundaries in place in order to. Have the success that I'm looking for. For me, instead of thinking, how big can I grow this? I shift my mindset to how well can I build this to fit my life. This to me might mean fewer clients. This might mean a smaller team. This might have to mean lower revenue goals, but honestly, for me, if it brings me joy and happiness and I feel. At ease and everything that I'm doing, it is still success. What I really want you to take away is that I want you to really reflect and get out a piece of paper and a pen. Or pull up a notion page or whatever it is. And I really want you to outline what areas of your life and business are you chasing more in. Consider, whether it aligns with your big goals. So I know that this was more of a woo conversation, but as we're wrapping up, I want to walk you through an exercise. So if you don't have that piece of paper or that pen, or you don't have a notion page up or whatever, or even if you're listening on the go I want you to listen to this, but I want you to make sure that you put a pin in this and come back to it. But if you were in a place to write this out, I want you to. Do a couple of things. One, I want you to take about five minutes to write out what your perfect life looks like. What is your version of perfect. What is your big vision for your life? And I want you to think about four different pillars. Think about what your big vision is for your personal life. Does that look like you get weekly massages? Does that look like you go shopping every weekend? Does that look like you get your hair kneels. And toes done once a month, once every other week. What does your personal life look like? Think about your health. Are you taking your vitamins every day? Are you fueling your body with the things that are healthy or are you a foodie and you want to be able to try a new restaurant every weekend? Or maybe you want to do a little bit of both, but what is it that looks like perfection to you in your personal life? What time are you waking up? What time are you going to bed at night? What is your home look like? Who is in your home with you. So who is helping you to manage these things? Or maybe your goal is to have no one in the home with you. And you want to live a life of peace and solitude. There's no wrong answer here, but I want you to be cognizant of what perfection looks like in your personal life. And then I want you to move on to your family. So what is your perfect family look like? Do you have kids? If so, how many do you have a significant other? If so, How many, I guess. But do you have a significant other. I think about your parents and your siblings and things like that. Like where are they in relation to you? Are you living close to them? Are they living with you? Think about all of these things surrounding your family, what do you and your family like to do together? Do you have weekly movie nights? Do you have pizza Fridays? Like we do in my house. Are we doing sports and activities and things during the week, are we having family travel? What does your family life look like? And then I want you to move on to work. And when I say work, I'm talking about a full-time or part-time job outside of your entrepreneurs, Shipt journey. So for me, that is nursing. I want you to think about, do you have a full-time job? Do you have a part-time job? Where are your benefits coming from? If you are choosing to not be employed or do you need to be employed just enough to maintain your benefits? What does the work that you're doing look like for you? Are you wanting to keep a job where you need to work? Pretty hard to keep it? Where it requires a lot of you throughout the day, or are you okay with. Being a greeter at Walmart because it's easy, it's consistent income and it allows you more time for your business. What is it that you are looking to do? As it pertains to work outside of your own business. And then last but not least, I want you to think about business. The reason that I'm saving this for last is because this is the only thing that we are building, that we have really. Full control over. And it should not come. Before. Your personal life or your family? And then once you have those two things in place and you figure out what work looks like to you, as far as outside of the home, Now you can really look at what your business is going to offer your life and where it is going to fit in. Do that last, because you want to build a business around the life that you want to live, and you don't want to build your life around the business that you've created this whole episode. Like I said, is that about what enough means to you taking up the exact amount of space that you are seeking to take up in the time that you are taking it up and then. Leaving space and leaving opportunity. For whoever to come behind you and leave their mark. Once you have written out your big vision for those four areas of your life. I want you to go back and reread it. Once you have that done. I want you to do something fun and plug this big vision for your life into chat GPT. I want you to say. My name is Leah. Here is my big vision for my life. Based on the information that I've given you, please narrate my perfect day. And see what it gives you. Once you have your. AI generated perfect day that you have envisioned. I want you to take that and either print it out, take a picture of it, whatever you want to do. But I want you to use that as. Your grounding as your baseline. Anytime you are making decisions about how you're going to grow your business. I want you to look back at your perfect day. And I want you to decide if this aligns. Of course every day is not going to be perfect. And we know that, but we want you in the future future, you is going to want more perfect days than not perfect days. And so that may mean that. If you're a perfect day, says that every day you would like to wake up and make your family breakfast in the morning. Then your perfect day is not necessarily going to revolve around you getting up early and going into an office. Your perfect day is most likely not going to involve you traveling. Three weeks out of every month. Okay. So the reason for this is because you want a good baseline. And a good vision of where you're going, so that as you're planning, and as you were building this business, you have in your mind what you said you wanted to do. And what you have decided is your version of enough, and that can help to guide your day-to-day planning, your goal setting. Your projects that you choose to work on your tasks that you are choosing to do every day. It really guides everything. If you have a very concrete vision, So I hope that you found this episode to be helpful. I know it was a little bit shorter. And that was the goal. I did not want to ramble. So I hope you enjoyed our episode this week. I will see you back here in the same place. Same time next week. Bye. For now.
